Dh and I went mid January this year and got a few pics of empty areas. The parks were very quiet the whole time we were there. It was nice.
I'll have to practice a bit to see if I can get the pics loaded.

We got a few last trip when we were on the Steam Train tour, conductor had us on top of the station and said, its a very early tour, that you'll never see the MK look this empy in your like, probably was 8 am then and the whole view up Main Street had no one. real cool, looking for the pix now.

The crowds seem to pick up in Oct- Once the F+W starts at the end of Sept (9-28)- the crowds usually go through to the end of the festival (11- 11)
We used to do Oct- but the crowds started getting to be too much, for us anyway- and we now like Sept!

Thank you! To make a long story short--- I was VERY mad at DH bc he had forgottenn to put our digital camera in our backpack that morning (even though I asked him-- oh 3 times if it was in there). So I had to take the pics with a cheapo disposable camera :( I can only imagine how great they would have turned out on mine!!!

Is August a "low crowd" time to go??--
well if it is not- you can always get some pics of the park before they open- you are just going to have to do a character BF to do that!.....either that- or stay out til 2am at Pleasure Island- :dance3:

Oh! So you are one of "those" people on the bus ride home that we end up talking to--- or wishes that they can get a pizza at 3 in the morning!!!
Last time we were coming home from PI- my SIL had a great idea-- she said at each report they should have a little pizza cart at the bus stops so when all the PI people getting off the bus can get a pizza on the way back to the room---
OK! Well the idea sounded good at 2am and with a little buzz!:lmao:

We've tested the limits in the parks basically. In December, we stayed until someone finally (politely) informed us that they were now "closing" the park down. It was nearly 2 hours after the park "officially" closed. Even up until 2 hours later CM's saw us taking pictures and smiled at us and were very polite. They were already cleaning the park and we just stayed out of their way.
They finally told us they were closing it down (completely) once CM's were getting off of their shifts and starting to leave.
At MK, we stayed 2 hours after closing as well and were NEVER asked to leave. A CM told us that the last monorail circle was going to take place shortly and so we went out to get it. When we got to the parking lot we were one of only 3 cars in view in the lot.
Basically since I like to photograph I like to use these opportunities. Most people either dont want to stay that long or feel they are doing something wrong. CM's are VERY polite and will politely let you know when the time is up. In fact even at 1 1/2 hours after closing, CM's were sweeping Main Street USA and a manager was out there and asked if she wanted us to take a picture of us with our camera. We found the experience to be a great topper to the day since the CM's were all out and VERY friendly to us.

Oh so you had you own car-- I didn't think about that- if we stayed that long we may not be able to get a ride back to the resort.....unless we asked a CM to swing on by and drop us off! :lmao:

I have really enjoyed looking at the photos of the empty parks. I can't say that I can remember a time when we were there that it was ever empty like that. Our last trip was in Sept 27,2006 and although it was not jammed packed with people it was still busy.

I love an empty park- I agree- everyone has a different "idea' of what crowded is. I for one, hate crowds, so if I say it's dead- I really mean it!:lmao: If I say it was crowded......mmmmm? Some may think it is not.
Remember the Food and Wine Festival starts Sept 28th- so the end of Sept may start getting more crowded.

novdisneydreams...I think its all in the lenght of time a person has. If I had 5 days, trying to get more done..yes, I'd think its crowded. The longer you stay..less stress..less feeling of crowds..yes its all perspective !! ;)

DH and I usually watch the fireworks from behind the castle b/c not many people are there- after the fireworks instead of rushing down Main Street- we wander through Fantasyland- over to Liberty Square- all the way to Adventureland- It is SO peaceful- You can't even believe that there is a stampede rushing down Main Street b/c it is so quiet back where we are!!:lmao:
Sometimes we stop at Caseys and have some fries and watch the crowd of cattle shuffling along.......moooooo:lmao:
Next time we are going to have to take the opposite way and go out around Tomorrowland- I don't think we have ever done that----
OK need to plan a trip right now and try it!:cool1:
Where do you sit/stand behind the castle???? I may try this since manuevering with a 3 yr. old during that mad rush will be hell.

You can hang out back by It's a Small World and Peter Pan-
That is the side we go on. I am not sure about the other side of the carousel
Just be careful with the baby- there tends to be some firework "shrapnel" falling from the sky- but as I said many times before- I would rather be hit by flaming bits of fireworks than be in the crowd!:lmao:

Taken around 8:30am on 3/1/07. We had ADR's at CP. I have always dreamed of a shot like this-so thrilled I got it!http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/layouts/layout_images/1172077.jpg

Found 2 more to share. One also from 3/1 morning, and one from 2/27 late at night (so really 2/28 early am). The 2/27/07 one was the night we won the cinderella castle suite stay so we were totally in the park alone!! It was after the PnP party and all the rides were closed. We just had to get a few pix in front of the castle with no one else around. http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/layouts/layout_images/1104636-13.jpghttp://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/layouts/layout_images/1104636-12.jpg

Thanks for the comments. The foggy conditions also made it possible for her to not see the castle until we rounded the corner by the hat store on main street. That video is linked on my signature...once she saw it she said "a castle" and then took off running down the street saying "I'm going to the castle!"...I was struggling to keep up as was my wife...lol.
While we were there, we bought her the castle playset for her birthday which was this weekend. It's definately worth the $70, she loves it.

I just spent a long time going through all the various pages of this thread, and am SO excited now. Last year I visited WDW thru the day after Labor Day. Crowds weren't bad, but there were a lot more people there than i expected. We visited Universal the next two days after leaving WDW, and it was unreal how dead they were.
So is WDW really this slow after Labor Day?? :goodvibes
My ressies this year are Sept 5th-12th. If the parks are as empty as I see in these pictures, i'm not going to know what to do with myself.

The photo of the Everest area was taken January 11, 2006, at 7:34 pm during Extra Magic Hours at Animal Kingdom. Remember, in the winter months, it gets dark a little earlier. Everest wasn't open yet, so the area was pretty empty.

OMG! I just watched your video and it brought tears to my eyes! I can't wait til my little princess is a little older and she can run up to the castle like that! She is so adorable! I love the Princess Breakfast footage. :flower3:

When you stayed after closing for some picture taking were you using Disney transportation? How was that?
If not...did you have to walk through the parking lot or were the trams still running? I am curious for safety issues.

Okay, about staying in the parks after closing.
I don't mean to be a downer and I only post this because it something one of my CM friends complains about a lot. Please don't linger in the parks hours after closing. Don't aim to be the last one out of the park. Mainly because the CM's are not allowed to go home until the park is closed and clear of people. The park may close, and their shift officially end at one time.... but they are not allowed to leave until the park is cleared. This holds up a good many CM's when people hang around like this. I know it is really fun to stay late, but if the park has closed please don't purposely hold up all the CM's on closing shift.... The busdrivers also have to be on standby until all is clear.
Wow.. sorry for the negative post. I only post out of concern for a friend of mine and please don't flame me. I swear!! I will never be nagative again!

Thanks for the tip, hopefully the CM's are getting some OT for the extra time spent?
I'll try to remember that next time..but, then again..if the emporium is open...Hummmm:flower3:

I'm just about to get grinding on getting these up on the net (rough week).
About staying after, I stayed late at MK and Epcot. At MK, Wishes and park close were both at 10, and so by 10:30 I was at the hub away from MOST of the crowds. It was hard to believe that SOOO many people were there as it was getting close to 11, so I was really surprised. At about 11:30, I finally started to get that "empty" feeling. Before leaving the park at about 12, I was not the last one, but probably in the last 20 guests in the park. Don't worry, these great pictures will be up VERY soon.
As for Epcot, I went for evening EMH on our last night, and I was determined to be the LAST one out (my logic was that I have all night at home to sleep, why do it now?). EMH ended at 12, so when I got out of the American Adventure, I took a lovely and extremely peaceful walk around the lagoon for about a half hour. I was the ONLY one walking and it was great being able to have my last moment alone with my favorite place in the world. By 12, I made it over to Test Track for a quick walk on ride, then I wandered over to the fountain in the center of Future World. At about 12:30 I was the only person I could see near the fountain and Spaceship Earth (not even CM's). I had to pull myself away, and eventually left and went to the bus lines.
For those concerned about transportation, DON'T WORRY!!! There were A LOT of buses running, and when I got out of MK there was a HUGE line for CBR.
At Epcot, there was a bus already there that was waiting to be filled, and after about 5 minutes we were on our way.
It was a great experience being able to stay after and get a great view of the park, and hopefully I'll get those images up in the next hour or so. See ya then!

Here are a few from World Showcase. After Illuminations we walked counter clockwise to allow the bus lines to clear.

These are not completely empty park pictures, but considering they taken around 3:00pm (September 27, 2007) I consider them to be rare photos, espeically the first one! I looked at my DD and said, "you don't understand, this NEVER happens. I have to get a picture for proof!"
By the way, these were taken the day BEFORE the F&W Festival started last year.
