Room Tax

Do you have to pay any room taxes if you use points? If not, that would be another savings!

I figured out that my point value is $10 per point, so when we go to HH in April our studio for 5 nights is 60 points=$600 versus the room rate of $155 per night x 5 nights = $775 + 10% room tax = $852.50. That is a savings of $252.50!!

Is this correct?

NO when using points you are staying at "Home" so you do not pay the outragous hotel taxes. Yes that is another advantage to DVC.

And, at 11%, the savings is not insignificant. Even if you paid the same room rate as everyone else, you are still getting a nice discount!

the savings when I rented points for my
