I really have no idea which cake flavor to pick. I love Chocolate but my fiance probably would prefer a plain cake. He loves strawberry or rasberry mousse, but I hate stuff like that and would prefer amaretto or something like that. Does anyone know if you can have one layer different from the next?
We are only having the standard intimate cake and as we are from the UK I can't think of a way to transport it safely back to the UK, so it will likely get devoured during our stay :p
Does anyone have any recommendations for me? It's unfortunate I can't try them or even see pics of the inside, it might be easier that way. I realise you can get buttercream, is there anyway of having jam (jelly) on top of that? I don't know if people in the States have that on cakes, but over here you can get a yellow cake (Madeira) with buttercream and jam with fondant icing and it's heavenly, come to think of it, that is normally what birthday cakes consist of and they are gorgeous..... :cloud9:

Hi there. You can get different flavors for different layers (at least that's what we did in our custom wedding cake). We are having chocolate cake with amaretto mousse and fresh strawberries, the second layer is lemon cake with raspberry mousse and fresh raspberries and the top layer is chocolate cake with raspberry mousse.
You can't get any jam on your cake. HOwever, all the mousse flavors and light and not very sweet. THey complement the cakes extremely well. Good luck!! Have fun!! :sunny: :goodvibes

Actually, we're having jam in our cake. We aren't allowed to do mousse because our custom reception is outside and they worry about the temperature and all with the cake, so we're having chocolate cake with raspberry jam and buttercream for the filling, then for the second layer amaretto cake with raspberry jam filling and then the top will be chocolate with chocolate ganache filling.
I'm drooling just thinking about it! I'm sure if you ask for it they'd be happy to do it for you since they have it available anyway.

I also wondered if you could have the Intimate cake with different flavours for each layer, without extra cost. My first choice is almond cake with amaretto mousee, but I've also heard someone had peanut butter filling - yummy! There's only likely to be 6 of us, so it needs to a flavour we (most likely me!) really like, as we'll have to eat it all fairly quickly too (I'll certainly deserve all that cake too, as I will have been on a diet for almost 18 months, to hopefully lose at least 6 stone - just 4 more to go :) )

I would like to see pictures of the inside of the Intimate cake as well. I would like to visually tell how it is layered, etc.
Also- I agree- is there any way you can get the two layers in different flavors? If so- id love to call and change mine- switch things up a little bit!

It would be nice to have the tasting for the Intimate weddings. I would hate to have the cake cutting picture turn out with a sour face from DF or I because it wasn't what we were hoping.

Hey...just a minute...weren't we all just on the Disney brides weight loss thread? :lmao:
I hope my cake tastes like krap. Then I won't eat the dang thing, which I KNOW I will, then I will be all *blech* and mad at myself. I see myself now, the day after the wedding, eating cake for breakfast right out of the box. With my fingers, because I won't have a fork. Maybe wash it down with warm, flat champagne. HELP! I'm a total sick-o.
But won't Splash Mountain be fun after that? :crazy2:
I bet if you wanted different flavors for an intimate it would be an additional charge, but that is a good idea. I think I'll request dog food with cat food filling for one layer, and then carrot cake with veggie mite filling for the other.
But you know what? The cakes are all going to be great.
Dammit!

OMG! You are HILARIOUS! :lmao:
I can also see myself gorging on cake for breakfast for SEVERAL mornings after the wedding. :rolleyes1
I recently went through the giant cake thread over on the Restaurant boards and found a cake with a fresh strawberry and vanilla custard filling. I'm hoping that we'll be able to makes those changes to our cake. YUM.

Do you want me to call and find out about my dog food/cat food two flavors thing? :Pinkbounc
It only takes my WP about three days to get back to me... :rolleyes1 I should have an answer for you by your wedding--but no promises. :lmao:
Suggestion: Call the BW and speak directly to the bakery (that is where the cakes for SBP weddings are made; at least that is what my elusive WP told me) and ask them, maggimus.

lol KimNKel- Will you come to my wedding? I think im going to need a couple laughs :lmao: or drinks :drinking1 to get through the stress once I get there. Haha
Oh yes- by the way... im for the dog food and cat food (it will bring me back to a child when I used to readily eat it on my own)... But as for vegimite.... welp- thats pushing it! I think i'd rather eat the dog/cat food after my animals have digested it (my dogs say its FULL of protein :confused3 ... just what i need!)

How much is a "stone" in pounds, dee slack?
sorry, a stone is 14 pounds. Yep, that's a HUUUGE 84 pounds to lose, altho' 98 would be absolute bliss! I've lost 28 already, but trying to take it slowly so I can keep it up for a long time (just hope my head feels the same!). I'm a habitual yo-yo :yo-yo: dieter/compulsive eater/starver. Over the past 15 years I've been 117 pounds at my lightest and 224 at my heaviest (and everywhere in between!). I'm aiming for 126 - 140 for our VR thru diet and excercise (which I hate) so *WHEN* I reach my goal, I'm eating everything in sight, especially CAKE! :cake:

I'm the same, I'm dieting like crazy for this Wedding/Honeymoon, so when I get there I'm taking 3 weeks off, I've got free DDP and the Disney Cruise, I have to sample the goods :rotfl: Have you seen the food pictures thread on the Dining Forum.....????? OMG, it's enough to add pounds just by looking, mmm!

Thanks, dee. I know what you mean with the yo-yo thing. When I was in high school I was borderline anorexic, and then a compulsive overeater...but I already posted about all that on the weight loss thread. I have come a long way, but I still have work to do. Mostly with the inside of my head.
I am so not wanting to gain any weight back again that the idea of going on a vacation, or a wedding, etc., is really kind of upsetting to me. It's like being an alcoholic, in a way.

I say, eat whatever you want on your honeymoon, just don't eat a ton of it. I've even had them bring a takeout box with the meal so I could put half of what was on my plate in the box just to keep myself honest! :teeth:

Sorry, slightly OT:
How did you get the DDP? I was told that since our room is booked with our wedding discount we aren't allowed to get it. They said you have to book a MYW package. Not even just buy 1 day tickets like I had heard previously, but actually book the room and ticket package at rack rate. Is that what you did?

Hi
Yeah, we paid rack rate for room and tickets so we could get free DDP   We have 21 day Ultimate tickets, with 14 nights DDP, we are staying 14 nights on Disney property, 7 elsewhere.

what a great idea - might have to see if I can summon the strength to that that, instead of having to eat everything that's in front of me (I blame my parents 'there's kids starving in Africa and you're leaving all that?!')
Anyways, back to that delicious cake - do you have to ask them to box up the leftovers, or will they do it automatically?

Well im a custom so it may be different, but i asked my wedding planner to box my remaining cake and have it ready for us when we leave - we have a coach for transportaion to the resorts and dessert party otherwide i could have had it dfelivered back to my room.

thanks Laura. Do you mean you could ask for it to be delivered back to your hotel room for you? That would be great for us, as we'll be having dinner at 1900 PF, then wishes cruise so it would be a hassle to carry it round with us!!!!

I got the DDP and I'm using the discounted tickets. You have to pay for regular rack rates, or go with whatever special they are running, and only got one day MYW tickets. Unfourtunatly, you can't use the discounted room rates...but you get the DDP and that saves LOADS of $$$$! And with all the food that comes with! Well, hope that helps. :sunny:

Thanks! I can't give up our room discount because we are at the Contemporary and it's a great amount of money that we're saving. I guess maybe we'll try to get the DDE and get the AP rate. At least then we can save 20% of TS meals.

thats the great thing about cake layers.
we had chocolate cake with strawberry filling, vanilla cake with strawberry filling & marble with chocolate filling.
we originally wanted the peanut butter with the marble but it was to jiffy for dh & the passion fruit with the vanilla but it was to puckery for me.

Ok to help me decide which 2nd flavour to choose, I need to know if you can choose to cut and serve the bottom layer (Intimate). As there will only be 6 of us, it makes sense to use the larger layer while everyone is there, and take the smaller one back for later. If you can do it this way, I will choose a fairly plain flavour that suits everyone and save the almond/amaretto just for us! Does anyone know approx how many slices you get from the top layer, and how many from the bottom (20 altogether, right?)

Hi Dee
To be honest I always thought that we did cut the bottom layer? The top layer is supposed to be saved for your anniversary, but as we're from Britain that wont be happening as we can't take it back anyway. I told Tanis that we intended to cut the bottom layer and keep the top layer for later on in the vacation, she said no problem  . Have I completely misunderstood you?.....I seem to think maybe I have

They will cut and serve the bottom layer, as Summer-Caitlin said, they save the top layer for you to have on your first anniversary (or any other time if you can't save it). The bottom layer is the one they serve at the reception. I guess you can specifically request that they do the top layer instead, but it sounds like you'd prefer the bottom layer to be served anyway. Hope this helps!

We had a 4 layer cake and we chose:
Almond Cake w/ Amaretto Mousse
Marble Cake w/ Raspberry Mousse and chocolate shavings (IT WAS AMAZING)
Chocolate Cake w/Peanut Butter AND Chocolate Mousse
I have to say our cake was raved about over and over. I gave the leftovers to my family (who are apparently huge pigs) and I guess the night after our wedding, they all had a bit too much to drink and at about 1am were grabbing fists full of my cake and chowing down. LOL You can't go wrong with these flavors. YUM!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
