Recently, I've heard a rumor that WDW is adding a new character dinner, a Beach Barbeque to be hosted by Jack Sparrow -- whoa, sorry there, of course I meant Captain Jack Sparrow, on Discovery Island. People would be boated over, there would be a little treasure hunt with prizes, songs, adventure, and it would be the single most fabulous experience in the entire known universe.

Today, I heard that it will actually be taking place on a re-themed Tom Sawyer Island, which is just wrong on so many levels I don't know where to start.

However, I know that the word is that TSI in *Disneyland* is going to get a pirate makeover, and I wonder if the two rumors have been rolled into one.

Can anyone confirm or deny? Will Discovery Island finally get put to good use, while letting the wildlife enjoy most of their privacy? Or will I have to light a candle in memory of the paintbrush I found on TSI, back when there was such a place?

Haven't heard anything about this one (the Disco Island part).

I will say that turning TSI into HoopDeePirate Revue would be wrong. But using Disco Island for it sounds interesting.

If there isn't, I promise you, my interest in the dinner will diminish by at least 38%. pirate:

Discovery Island at WDW was originally supposed to be sort of pirate-themed in some way, in reference to Treasure Island. As you all recall, there is a wreck of an old "pirate" ship which originally had a jolly roger flag hanging from the ships look out post. That was of course, abandoned for the Discovery Island theme. Hey, maybe the place will come full circle now. pirate:

I'm starting to feel a little pirate overload although the "Treasure Island" idea makes sense. What are they doing with that Discovery Island anyway. I used to love that place. I understand it had to change with DAK around but still...

And whatever happened to the Piaret themed water park rumor?

About a month ago I was requested by Disney to participate in a survey. In it were questions about a Captain Jack Sparrow pirate dinner. It indicated that guests would be transported by boat to a location (they did not name the location) for a beach dinner. They survey was to judge interest in such a dinner.

I haven't heard anything about the dinner being confirmed.

I seriously doubt that the dinner would be on Tom Sawyer Island.
