Hi everyone,
Now normally I am uber-organised for these things, but the truth is I leave on saturday morning and I feel very...um..un-organised!. I know I have my folder done with touring plans, passport, tickets, money, but I am having packer's remorse that I have done it all wrong, the house needs a clean top to bottom, I still have errands to run to bank, prescriptions etc., I'm still doing washing and ironing, AAAhhhh, personally I blame the DIS for being much more interesting than my chores :teeth:
Anyway, i am getting in a tizzy and if anyone is good in these situations it is you guys, what is your routine for getting you, yours and your house ready for departure? And if you don't have one then all the better you'll make me feel ;) Any words of wisdom or kindness for a stress-head?

Not sure I can help with any words of wisdom, Claire, because I am exactly the same! My excuse is that I work better under pressure! I know that it will all get done and before you know it you will be in the happiest place on earth. Good luck with everything and try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know!)

Well you should have started earlier! Oh, I'm just kidding!
But seriously, why are SO worried about cleaning the house spotless? This is one thing I've never understood about leaving for a vacation. Sure we'll pick ours up and make it look nice because we have someone coming over to feed and clean up after the cats But other than that, why give it a major scrubdown?
And why bother with ironing? It's going to wrinkle up again anyway and you'll have to iron it at the hotel again. Why bother, IMO?! :confused3
Just sit down and make a list of everything, right down to the outfits you are wearing each day and night. I lay my outfits on the floor a few weeks ahead of time and take pictures so I'll know what I wanted to wear and what to pack.
You'll be fine and have everything packed up and ready so stop worrying so much and start getting excited! Last year I had my wedding to worry about so didn't put much thought into planning and packing for Disney honeymoon, but it was all OK. You don't have to stress about it.

I clean up before we leave as it is depressing enough coming back from WDW without having to face housework for a while, plus with all the washing to do you dont have time to hoover & polish!

I always tidy and hoover up before we leave too but I also, always, do a laundry trip before we come home ;)
Luckily we normally have a washing machine in our timeshare apartment but, regardless, I always ensure I make a launderette visit - sad? Most probably.......... :teeth: :rolleyes1
I just can't face coming home and doing everything when I can 'bung' the dirty clothes in a washer and nip out into the sun :thumbsup2

I know what you mean! I don't relax until I am on the aircraft! I always feel as though I should be doing something! I always like to give the house a good scrub before we go! :teeth:
Just think.. this time next week you will be there :teeth:
I know the feeling  I haven't any thing done either this time ,
yes these boards have a lot to answer for :surfweb:
but I willl get done :thumbsup2 I'm leaving my mum looking after things here  so don't have to worry to much about the house
as long as I have tickets ,passport and money I'll be OK
if I forget any thing else ,we can either do without it or get it over there
I find writing a list of everything I need
I will have to start soon,
good luck :thumbsup2

Where would I be without my lists ?? ~ LOL
Usually I do a little bit of packing everyday from about 2 weeks before my hols and I cross things off my list as I go. Then the day of the holiday I have a mad cleaning session (there is no way that I'm coming home to an untidy house) and my holiday starts the minute I leave the house for the hotel at the airport
Have a fab time

Aww. Bless. :)
Just get things done and then you can have a great holiday! :woohoo:
I usually leave everything to the last minute,The cleaning gets done but I dont overly stress about the packing as if I havent got it I buy it over there, any excuse for more shopping :sunny:
Have a wonderful time :thumbsup2
I am unbearable pre-departure and that can be even for a weekend away ;)
The thing I always try to remember is as long as you have travel docs and prescription meds packed there is nothing you can't buy.
So, chill a little :cool1:

Im exactly the same and i know this time i'll be even worse!
I always write a list of what i need to pack into my case and do it a little at a time before we leave. With regards to cleaning, im quite fortunate that theres only 2 of us so i'll clean a room and tell Gary he is not allowed back in that room, then the day we leave for gatwick i only have a few last minute bits to do!

Thanks everyone, I don't feel quite so bad now :grouphug: I've done the last of the washing and ironing, the house is tidy at least and I have the running around done. Its just the packing to undo and start over, thanks for all your well wishes,

Im a big fan of writing lists as well! If I dont write a list I lay awake worrying that I will forget something, how sad is that??!! Usually I have a couple of days off before we go so that I can get organised but this year I am teaching up until the day before so Im going to have to be mega organised!!

Hi
Have a great holiday Claire. Only thing I can say is. Everytime we go away its a busy week for us. Plenty of late nights and especially the night before. Even though we plan and try to get things done it doesnt always happen.
Good luck and have a great time.
