We're heading down for our annual trip to the World, and will be staying off-property. We LOVE Cypress Pointe, but thought we'd see if there's anything comparable worth checking out. We've also stayed at Vistana, but didn't care for it as well.
We can get a 2 bedroom for $99/nt at CP for our week in January. The only thing I've been able to find that seems similar is Liki Tiki which gets mixed reviews and is a lot farther from the World, and a few smaller ones I hadn't heard about on the DIS. (Parkway???)
So for a family of 5, what are my options? And I'm more than happy to be told to stick with Cypress Pointe fi that's the best option. :thumbsup2

I don't personally know of any other timeshare type condos around now that would compare in price/amenities - I have stayed at Cypress Pointe before.
However, I would say you could easily find an individually owned condo or townhome at Windsor Palms or Emerald Island for a lower price (especially once you add tax to Cypress Pointe price). It would take more research on your part to find this though. If you're interested, I'd check vrbo.com for both and http://www.windsor-palms-florida.net for Windsor Palms. You can make a general inquiry for Windsor Palms at the 2nd site which would take less time up front.
We've stayed in condos at Windsor Palms many times for around $85/night (3 bedroom/2 bath) including tax. We've also discovered the townhomes and really like those for the fact that we park right outside our unit and there's no possibility of loud neighbors above us. We've stayed at the townhomes for under $100 a night.
There's lots of info about these resorts and also the somewhat newer Windsor Hills that are about the same distance from the parks as Cypress Pointe, but they're over by Animal Kingdom - so the opposite side of WDW from Cypress Pointe.
Good luck finding something that works for you.

Here is a good site:
http://www.mousepadsorlando.com/
You can get a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath townhouse (two floors for more privacy and space) for the same price as a 2 bedroom at CP. It's also close by, Emerald Island. The pools are not as big and are not themed like CP, but if you are going in January there is a good chance it will be too cold to swim anyway.

You could try Regal Palms if you don't mind a further drive. It is about 15 minutes from Disney...not a problem if it's not a busy period. They can be rented thru www.hotelkingdom. They have 3/4 bedroom townhouses that are decorated very basically, but are awesome in size and have like 3 bathrooms each. The other plus is the pool area which rivals any Disney deluxe resorts. There is a hot tub/ pool slide, lazy river and separate swimming pool. You can see pictures by doing a google search.
We have stayed at both and while I loved the location and decor of Cypress Pointe, Regal Palms pool area wins hands down. But that's just for us since my kids would rather spend the day at the pool then the parks.

Thanks for all the links....I actually *did* find a townhome in Windsor Hills for almost the exact same cost as a 3 bedroom at CP. We'll have 3 bedrooms (King, Queen, 2 twins), 3 baths (one with roman tub), kitchen, private splash pool/lanai. More space, same distance to disney (at least same distance to the Swan/Dolphin where dh will be attending a conference). Also, great pools and playground. I used vbro.com to search communities.
I'll report after we've been there.... :thumbsup2

I'd definetly check out renting direct. It is actually usually a little cheaper in the long run.
