Actually, this link answers my question:

I'd love to hear if anyone has done a commitment ceremony at WDW ... anyone??

Yes. They do them. They ceremony is not handled by a Disney wedding coordinator. Can't seem to find out why.

I have a friend who works at Disney who is in the middle of the arrangements for a ceremony. Sound like it will be a fun event.

Quoting Disney:

"Walt Disney World vow renewal packages can be purchased by those who can produce a legal marriage license. However, Disney does not recognize same-sex Massachusetts marriage licenses as valid for this purpose."

This sooooo makes me mad! :furious: :furious: :furious:

For weddings they blame Florida's marriage laws and then for vow renewals they have to add this caveat, which basically proves it was never Florida's marriage laws which were the problem. They just don't want to deal with the issue.

I've been wondering about that they would say about the whole Massachusetts thing. Grr, another reason for me to hate this state.

Hey, friend, good to see you posting here again.

Yup, I'm totally with you.

I like courage. Say what you mean and mean you say.

Say you don't want to deal with the political, social, and monetary fallout of taking a distinct position or find your courage and take a stand. Hiding behind technicalities is the most loathsome of options.

I didn't even think they allowed commitment ceremonies. Interesting.

I guess they are NOT going to turn away money at a resort, if someone wants to rent the space, and have a ceremony.

But I wonder if they would let it happen at like Epcot, in a spot at World Showcase. Ive seen private events happening there before.

We tried to plan a simple ceremony at Disneyland in California and was totally turned down! we were told if there was not an actual Marriage certificate... we could have no ceremony there.

Ironically, the Baptists boycotted Disney because they are "gay friendly."
