I hope the title says it all.
Because we moved this year, I have a substantial amount of Disney Rewards Dollars earned through our Disney Visa card. I have the rewards card loaded, and have enough rewards dollars earned to pay for most of the cost of DDP to us.
So my question is, can I use the reward dollars at check in to pay for DDP?
One last thing, I will not be paying for my rooms since we are DVC members and we booked it on points. So we are guessing DDP will be our biggest expenditure during our trip.
Thanks!

I used my reward points for my DDP. I added it to my package over the phone, so I'm not sure about the when you get there scenario.

Yes, you can use your rewards card to pay for the DDP when checking into a DVC resort on points.

DDP works differently for DVC members than it does for people buying a Magic Your Way Package. We also have to add it to our reservation in advance, but for some reason they won't let us pay for it until we check in.

Some people on the DVC boards were saying that you can't pay with your Reward dollars. I hope they're wrong, though, since I have more reward dollars than I want to spend on souvenirs! I'd rather use them to pay for DDP.

for that matter, can you use rewards dollars to pay for food once you are at the park?

I charged every souvenier and OOP food and beverage to my room, and I used my rewards to pay that bill. No problems whatsoever.

If you can't, what about tickets? I use mine to pay for tickets.
You shouldn't have any problem using them to pay for DDP when you check in, though.

I am a DVC member and just got back yesterday from an 8 night stay with the DP. We stayed at the BWV and paid for the DP with a Rewards Card at check in (It was just the 2 of us for this trip). Due to some large purchases this year, I had $504 on the Rewards Card. Added $104 cash and paid for the DP at check in. Was not a problem to use the Rewards Card.
Glad I tried the DP, but we won't be doing it again. It just makes it too tempting for me to overeat (and I did). I should not eat an appetizer, entree and dessert at one sitting - way too much food at once for a diabetic.
Plus 8 nights was too long for the DP - it's hard to enjoy a meal when you are not hungry. :teeth:

I think the confusion is about prepaid Gift cards.
For some crazy reason people have not been able to use those.
The rewards cards from the visa are okay:confused3

You are confused. They were talking about gift cards, not VISA Rewards cards. I used my Rewards card to pay towards the DPP in November.

I would think so Kevin....the rewards card works just like a Visa/MC. I have used our rewards card to pay most of our trip, it looks just like a visa, same amount of #'s, exp. date and 3# security code on back.
I was told you could use the Disney Visa Rewards Card for anything at WDW
Hope this helps :)

Don't mean to hijack the thread but just out of curiousity - how many dollars charged equal $1 of Disney rewards when using the Disney Visa?

I think it is $100. 1% of purchases. Maybe there are some circumstances where it is higher?

Yes for every $100.00 you spend you earn $1.00. Smetimes they offer different programs where you can earn more. If you have not signed up for one, get someone who has one and you both will earn $$ when you (someone not signed up) sign up. We use ours for EVERYTHING and our week tri[p was close to free. They often offer promotions to Visa card members before the public. :rotfl: :goodvibes :cool1:

Hey, Dave. Could you explain? We are considering DVC. Is it true that you can purchase the DDP withouth doing room+tix? I'm a passholder so we don't need tix. But I think the DDP sounds great.:confused3

We just got a Disney Visa and are trying to use it for everything to build up points for our trip in July. Can anyone explain to me :confused3 how the points are awarded? Thank you! :worship: Cindy

not dave ;) but in answer to your question:
DVC owners can call MS to add the DDP to their ressie prior to check-in (memory lapse: i believe its minimum 3 days prior:confused: ). you pay for the DDP at check-in (btw, i've used combos of disney dollars, disney GCs, & Disney rewards for payment).
as stated, there is no ticket requirement. the DDP is still $37.99 per adult & $9.99 per child per night, & you must get the DDP for everyone in the room (except under 3, of course), for the entire length of reservation.
hth:)

Cindy,
We have had our Disney rewards VISA for several years and have enjoyed our rewards $$ for each of our annual trips! You will LOVE it! About 6 weeks before your trip you need to call the CS number on your card and request your "rewards card", this is actually like a debit card and your rewards dollars can be transferred to it prior to your trip. OR you can pick up a card at Guest Services at DTD. When we first used our rewards card, I did not realize that the card actually can be reloaded year after year. After our trip, I "lost", such a harsh term, ;) the card and did not really think another thing about it until a few weeks before we were leaving for our next trip. When I called Rewards VISA, they told me it was too late to get it via mail and I would have to go pick one up when I got to WDW. This was really no problem, just had to be worked into the plans! One caution, it is just like a debit card with no PIN # so if you load your rewards dollars and then loose the card whoever finds it could easily use your rewards:scared1: ! We always wait to call and load the rewards dollars on the trip to WDW,to be on the safe side, after all I have lost a card before!
Even though it is only 1% of purchases, the dollars can add up quickly! Who doesn't LOVE free stuff at Disney. Good Luck!
We went in January of this year and I was NOT able to use my rewards POINTS to pay for DDP. Luckily, I had called ahead of time and knew this, and the CM told me to purchase Disney Dollars with my points and use those to pay for DDP.
It was a pain as you can only get $500 per visit in Disney Dollars at the Disney Store (and the highest denomination is $10!), but it worked. If you are planning on using points to pay for DDP, just call and double check. You have to pay for DDP at check in, not check out.
