A cooler than usual speculative article at jimhillmedia.com this morning concerning preliminary discussion that Disney may be having concerning the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings franchises. Check it out!
If a miracle occurs and a theme park project is someday initiated with either of these franchises, it is IMO crucial that the agreement include use of the music from the films. Especially in the case of LOTR, it just isn't LOTR unless it uses Howard Shore's music.
As one responder notes, imagine a (partial) theme park with attractions from LOTR, HP, and Narnia. Now THAT would be a Fantasyland!

I question the word "preliminary". Back in July I heard the new Harry Potter themepark was supposed to be announced. Actually this rumor has been going around for quite a while now.

I meant "preliminary to signing a contract". Yes I have also heard rumors concerning Disney and HP in the past.

As a Harry Potter fan and a Disney fan I really hope this doesn't happen.
Disney needs to create again, not keep buying other properties. And they won't do justice to HP. Not unless they open the wallets again and throw out some blank checks.

I believe this adds fuel to the old "Beastly Kingdomme" Fire

I for one think Narnia would make a great Beastly Kingdom replacement at DAK. The Harry Potter rumor has been around, not as a theme park itself though. Lord of the Rings would be great. But I doubt they will build an Islands of Adventure type theme park around those concepts. More likely, you will see attractions on these topics at DAK, MGM, or even MK. How cool would a scary Hogwarts dark ride be with wizards, werewolves and ghosts.

How about:
Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders series into a Peter Jackson film into Beastlie Kingdome. :)

I wouldn't blow a whole park on Harry. Maybe a ride in MGM, but that is all it deserves. If they make a whole park, it shows that they consider HP more important than every other movie, which in most cases have one or two rides only. A park has several!

I doubt they would create a park based on characters they do not own. An attraction maybe but not a park

My fave Harry Potter fan/news site, http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/ says that this rumor is false, according to Rowling representatives.
