I was just wondering if I booked a room only and Disney happens to offered the free dining again would I be able to get it or is it with a package only kinda thing? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you can only get the dining plan, if you buy at least a 1 day park pass, which would make it a package.

It's a package deal which includes the room (at rack rate) and tickets.

Having said all that, if there is qualifying package availability where you have your room-only reservation, you could just cancel your room-only reservation and book the package. (In practice, when they do that for a guest, the guest might not even realize that is what they're doing.)

Unless you're staying at a DVC resort on DVC points.

But that doesn't apply to free dining does it? I thought in that case you had to pay the regular dining plan price.

Sorry, that's correct -- DVC reservations aren't eligible for free dining.

We haven't yet booked anything, but during the time we are planning on going they offered the free dining last year and i'm hopeing that they might offer it again this year. But we already have our tickets (4 leftover days that we didn't use on our last trip because we all got sick) and might only buy one or two extra days. Thanks for all the info.
