Anyone ever shot from a helicopter?

I'm going somewhere next week for work and they've told me that I'm going to be shooting from a helicopter to get aerials of an island. I believe, but am not 100% certain, that we'll be able to have the door off.

Anyone enver shot from a heli before? Anything special you can think of that I need? I have the Rebel Xti, a 28-90, 50 prime, and a 75-300. I need to pick up polarizers for for a least one of the lenses (maybe two, have to check the sizing) but other than that, I'm at a loss.

I would guess that vibration would be your biggest challenge. You'll probably want to strive for the highest possible shutter speeds to limit the problem. IS might help. I think serious helicopter photographers use big (and expensive) gyroscopic stabilizers.

As long as you've got bright sunshine, you'll probably be OK. After all, you should be able to shoot pretty wide open because you won't need much depth of field at all.

Good call Mark! I didn't even think about vibration. We'll be in the Caribbean, so hopefully it'll be bright and sunny.

They just kind of sprung this on me - thank goodness I don't have a fear of flying!
