I know that some people do and some people don't. Doesn't bother me either way.
I do tip. I usually tip $4/day for the family.....but now that I'm traveling solo, leaving $1 each day doesn't seem right!
Any suggestions? :)

Tia, I ususally leave $2.00 a day when it's just me. I'm pretty neat and they don't have to pick up before they clean. :D

That seems very reasonable Dayna. :) And I am very neat too! Gosh with no kids??? They might think the room was empty! :D I might have to leave something messy so they don't give my room away! :D LOL I'm not THAT neat!!!! LOL

I generally leave Mousekeeping around $2 a day. Sometimes that's in the form of cash, other times in Disney Dollars.

I do $3 a day on solo and use Heidi's cool envelopes.

Good Grief Dan! :o $3/day??? I don't think I can afford this trip anymore. ;) :D j/k :p
Thanks for the envelope thread link. :)
I also do $2/day when it's just me. Make sure you have plenty of $1 bills with you during your trip, because I had to make a special trip to DxL's front desk during my last trip to change a $5 so that I could tip housekeeping. :)

Somebody gave me a good tip the other day on the DISabilities board. Get $2 bills from the bank before you go instead of carrying one dollar bills around. I had to order them from our bank but it only took about 3 days to get them in. I think I am going to go with this and have them for valet parking also.

Good idea Tammy! I like two dollar bills...
What would you tip for two people? (I think I overtip, my husband and I usually tip $5 per day..It will be me and mom, and she even makes her own bed!!!! I am thinking $3 per day for the two of us. what do you think?

Okay, Jody. I'm neat but she makes her own bed? I'm going to have to have a talk with her. ;)

LOL! Yes she will Dayna, I'll have to talk to her. (Maybe I'll just mess it up after she leaves! LOL):p

Since my Mom was a waitress her whole life, I tend to overdo the tipping thing.. For just Tom and I, I try to leave $5 a day.. I am not sure if that is too little or too much.. but if there is only one of you, I would think $2 is plenty.. Take care.

Tammy, aren't $2 bills 'bad luck' or something like that?
Wow Marsha! I'll come clean your room! :D
And Jody....I'm gonna love your mom! :) I used to make my own bed, then DH helped me see the light! ;) LOL :D

I've never anything about them being bad luck. Is this a new superstition or something? And is the bad luck for me or the person receiving them.
I figure that money is money no matter what form it comes in.
Of course, I guess, if I give them one the first day and the next day they don't clean my room, I won't do that anymore. LOL

I remember this superstition from when I was a kid. And it seems that no one ever wants $2 bills. Hmmm, whatever! :D Like you said, money is money. :)
LOL about them not cleaning your room the next day. :D

I always go to the bank and get $100 in singles (nicely banded too) for my trips. I just keep it in the safe and take $10-$15 for tips for the day before I head out in the AM. In the AM, I write a one of my little 'thank you' cards that I bring with me and putthe card and tip in one of Heidi's envelopes.

We will be staying in a timeshare, so we will not have daily housekeeping. That means we have to make up our own bed! :earseek: We usually leave a small tip at the end of our stay for the person who comes in & cleans up after us.

We once asked for towels and left the tip with a thank you note for the person. They left the towels and didn't take the tip even though they must have seen it because they set the towels next to the money and the note. So where do you leave the tip so they see it?
Since I have been both a waitress and a housekeeper....believe me I have done it all...well almost all....
back to this post.... I tend to tip high!
I tip $5 or more a day for the family.....and yes I do leave it daily.
For DIS Con I am solo and plan on leaving about $3 a day!

I think we are tipping about $5 per day... thats 3 adults and a child. We are not too messy... but I don't even make my bed at home:)

Tammy, I usually leave it on the counter in the bathroom, between the sink and the mirror. :) And it says MOUSEKEEPING on the outside of the envelope. :)
I tip daily too. In Disneyland, we had 3 different housekeepers (they leave their name on a little card) in 6 nights! Want to make sure that the person cleaning that day gets the tip. :)

I was going to print out the envelopes but am having a heck of a time. It just doesn't want to work so I will modify. I really dislike it when things don't work like everybody else. :(
