I was sitting in Tim Horton's this afternoon reading a book and happened to notice someone come in brushing something white off. I thought no, that can't be snow but when I looked over and out the window, I couldn't believe the blizzard that was going on outside!!

I messaged Dan (goes to UWO) when I got home and he said they got it in London and DH said they got it in Guelph (works there) too.

Thank goodness it passed over quickly but now I'm depressed! I hate winter.

Sorry about the snow! It's a beautiful, sunny fall day here.
One of the reasons I left Edmonton was I got sick of shovelling the snow one April day!

Snow here in Niagara. I can't believe it. It's too early for this silliness.

bbangel, I often wished I'd followed my sister out to BC. She says she would never consider moving back to Ontario. She lives on Vancouver Island, in Nanoose Bay.

Yes, yes F4disneyfan, we all know you love winter, but you can keep it! ;)

My parents live in Niagara, I'll have to call and see if they saw it too! I never thought it would be in that area too, it's usually milder there isn't it?

Sometimes, but it's usually more humid.

It can't be snow already, can it?

I just hope, for the kiddies sake, that there's no snow for Halloween.

In Kitchener Waterloo, Ont we have had almost blizzard type conditions a few times today alternating with lots of sun. Snowing, and hard! Good thing it is still warm (?) out and not much is staying. Just 30 min northwest of us there are reports of whiteouts!!! I'm not ready for this!!!

I kept saying to DH today that the real date today must be April 1st as this is a really bad joke! :furious:

Our car is covered with snow and it's still coming in spurts. Also the temp has now dropped to zero (and I have my fireplace on :thumbsup2 )

The weather channel says that the Niagara region is under a severe snowsquall warning with "snow thunder" too! Batten down the hatches and welcome to an ealy winter! Brrrrr................... :guilty:

Florida can't come soon enough for us! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Just got back from WDW yesterday at 12:00 am and left 32 degrees in Florida and have come home to SNOW here in Winnipeg. This is way too early and way too cold for this time of the year. Right now, the winds are gusting from NW to 90 KM per hour! Yuk! I wanna go back!

Yes I would have to agree with you this is way to early for snow as I'm in Winnipeg and I'm heading to Dsiney for the first week of December. I tell you if this is what we have to expect for Winter I'm not liking it one bit. I'msorry you had to come back home to snow as thats not something anyone wants to see after being someplace where it is warmerJust got back from WDW yesterday at 12:00 am and left 32 degrees in Florida and have come home to SNOW here in Winnipeg. SNOW! That does not describe what we had several times today. The sky would be sorta light (the sun was never out) and then within 10 minutes BOOM dark again and so much snow you could barely see. Poor kid got home and looked like Bib the michelon man -- all white and her coat is BLACK. Took a good 5 minutes to brush off car to go to library (unfortunately she needed a book for school) Funny thing she was able to make snowman when we got home. OH get this she is 17 :rotfl2:

Is anybody flying supposed to be flying out of Buffalo today? Their schools are closed and there are or were driving bans in certain parts of the city. There's a couple of feet of snow on the ground. They got walloped by the snow.

This is why I'm afraid to book a flight out of Buffalo in the winter but...this is freakin' October! I would have had no qualms booking one this early. This weather is weird.

That was GROSS yesterday. I walked down to Timmie's at lunch and got caught in it walking back. Good thing that coffee was tasty! :teeth:

Weird thing this morning, backed out of the driveway, adjusted the rearview mirror and as I started driving, I thought "wow, those mountains are really pretty this morning" -- Ummm, live in London ON - we don't HAVE mountains! :rotfl2: I had to stop and look again ... The clouds were so low and huge to the south and east of me, that you would swear you were in Tennessee as the sun was coming up. :goodvibes It was amazing!

I think I heard we're back up into the teens temps come next week. October is waaayyy too early for this stuff. December 24th to Jan 2nd works for me. :lmao:

Thousands without power in Buffalo after first snowfall of season

from: http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2006/10/13/buffalo-snow.html

Last Updated: Friday, October 13, 2006 | 6:04 AM ET
The Associated Press
Having just set a record for the "snowiest" October day, the city of Buffalo in western New York state braced for more Friday as the season's first snowfall closed schools and left 155,000 customers without electricity.

At least 60 centimetres of snow blanketed parts of the Buffalo area early Friday, signalling a possible second record-setting day. The snow downed scores of tree limbs and toppled power lines.

The snowfall was expected to continue throughout the morning, said Tom Paone, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in the U.S.

On Thursday, 21 centimetres of heavy snow set the record for the "snowiest" October day in Buffalo in the 137-year history of the weather service, said meteorologist Tom Niziol. The previous record of 15 centimetres was set Oct. 31, 1917.

"This is an extremely rare event for this early in the season," Niziol said.

The Buffalo Police Department received more than 3,000 calls late Thursday and about two-thirds were related to the weather, Lt. James Watkins said.

The Buffalo Police Department received more than 3,000 calls late Thursday and about two-thirds were related to the weather, Lt. James Watkins said.

"There are power lines going down all over the place," he said.

Crews worked into the night to restore power, but many customers were expected to remain in the dark through the weekend and into next week, National Grid energy company spokesman Steve Brady said.

"This is extremely heavy snow and most of the trees still have most of their leaves, he said. "We can't do a complete damage assessment until the snow stops falling."

Other western New York communities also experienced heavy snowfall. Officials in Amherst ordered a driving ban for the entire town.

"We have a condition where 80 percent of the roads are impassable," said Lt. Stephen McGonagle of the Amherst Police Department.

Buffalo schools were closed Friday.

The snowstorm caused flight delays and cancellations at Buffalo Niagara International Airport, officials said. The airport shut down for almost two hours late Thursday.

Tree branches were strewn across the roads around the region. A large box maple tree split in half, falling on Joan Casey's home in Buffalo.

"The whole house shook," Casey said. "We were very afraid. Originally I thought it was just the thunder, and then I came outside and I couldn't believe it."

Oh boy...I thank my lucky stars that we head to Buffalo via the Peace Bridge in less than 2 weeks......I only pray that this kind of weather stays away until we fly back Nov 13th!!!!

I feel so bad for all the bikers out here as Port Dover has their Friday the 13th biker day and the bikes are roaring through Simcoe by the tons with all the guys dressed so warm that you can only see their eyes! :goodvibes

Please Mother Nature give us a warm winter!!! :sunny:
