I did a search and came up with nothing  though I am positive I've seen a thread or two about scrap rooms (I think I even posted one a while back :confused3). Anyway, I am trying to figure out exactly what I want/need. I am selling my dining room set and making it into a fully functional scrap room :cheer2: since that is all I do in there anyway :lmao: (You'd never know there is an actual DR table under there!). Anyway, Santa (AKA DH) wants to know what I want. The mags are not helping, so I thought I'd turn to my DIS friends. What do you love/hate about your scrap space - what works for you?
Thanks :thumbsup2

Bump :)
Twopeasinabucket.com has some awesome pictures of scrap rooms. You have to search a little but they're there.

a couple of recent magazines have had some good ones too.
My workspace is more than 8 feet long and two feet wide. Under the center section, where the knees go is a shelf with dividers. one sgment is my cutters, the others have 4 nice chrome silver trays for pens etc. That part works great.
If I ever get to do it over again, I will have base cabinets with drawers for the base of my work table instead of shelving units. And, the shelving units I have on one end of the table will have doors or a curtain or something to cover the mess with.
I face a window, which is great for light and view of the garden but bad for shelves and tacking things up. The most important things are light and a comfortable ergonomic chair, imho.

I had put a floral arrangement on my old kitchen table. I put water in it because it was running low. I didnt realize that it went through it and was now sitting under the flowers. It damaged my kitchen table. BUT my scrap table was born. I put that spot in the corner and I have some cabinets on it and noone knows and now I have a huge scrapbooking space and a new kitchen table.

i am in the process of converting my dining room to a scrap/art room. I have been looking at shelves and several desks. The Project Desk (http://www.pier1.com/catalog/productdetail.aspx?oid=114247&returnURL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.pier1.com%2fcatalog%2fc ollections.aspx%3ffh_location%3d%2f%2fpier1direct% 2fen_US%2fcategories%3c%7b110297%7d%2fcategories%3 c%7b110326%7d%26fh_refpath%3dfacet_59432939%26fh_s tart_index%3d0%26fh_view_size%3d8%26fh_view%3dlist er&fh_location=//pier1direct/en_US/categories%3C{110297}/categories%3C{110326}&fh_refpath=facet_59432939&fh_start_index=0&fh_view_size=8&fh_view=lister) at Pier 1 is great and i have been looking at ikea's shelves. I have been to Two Peas and looked and have gotten some great storage ideas.

IF I were creating a new scrap area I would go to Lowell or home depot and buy a large kitchen counter top. I need it to be deep. 3 feet deep would be perfect. i would also want my area to be in a corner. Right now It isn't. I would like my actual desk area to be in the corner. Then I could move left or right. I love to be able to spread out. Even better would be a U shaped!
I will try and find my area. I think I have pictures on the DIS photo section.

This is the one.
To find DIS pictures you need to click on at the top of this page, Photo/video then scroll down and about mid way you will see member photos or community photos...can't remember which. Then click on that and then you can search for pictures. This is the only picture I have in my album. But you maybe able to find other scrap stuff.
This was at least a year to 2 years ago.....boy does it look different...Guess I should update...It is much messier now, lots of stuff on the bulliten board, some more files etc...

This is what I did in my scrapbook room. I bought an 8 foot length and a 6 foot length of premade counter top and installed it in the corner of the room. I got an office chair with casters so I can us the whole desk area without having to get up. (some call me lazy :rotfl2: ) I LOVE it!! All my supplies are within rooling distance!! :thumbsup2 I would post a picture, but I don't know how. I'm not into the whole "digital" thing yet. :rotfl:

Would you mind sharing how much you spent on the countertops? Thanks :)

I believe the 8 foot one was around $20-$25 and the 6 foot one was about $15. My DH made the 2 "legs" out of 2x4's and covered them in white beadboard paneling. He used 2x4's to make angle brackets coneected to the wall in the center of the counters. The whole desk cost less than $60. We bought a 4 foot length of counter and made a scrapbook desk for my DD8 also. The 4 foot counter top was only $11.

I will ask my DH if he will help me add a picture of my desk in a post. I tried to do it and couldn't figure it out. Keep checking here and maybe I'll have it in later today. :thumbsup2

That looks great! We're clearing the conservatory at the weekend (we do it every spring and autumn and try to thin out the toys a bit!) and I'm wondering if I can annex it for scrapping. The only problem is it gets too much light and I'm worried about things fading
