Hello! I'm new to the board and to Disney World and Fort Wilderness. Will be going in a couple of weeks :woohoo: :hourglass .
Not sure if I'm more excited about camping near Halloween or being at DW&FW :rolleyes2. I'm thinking of putting out one of those craft store pumpkins you can carve and hanging some ghosts and goblins on the awning.
Wanting to know when people begin decorating for Halloween, how much you put out (is there such a thing as too much :teeth:., and what decorations you put out/up.
:thanks:
3 years ago we camped at Disney when Halloween fell over the weekend. Lots of folks went all out and had up really elaborate displays. We hung eyeball lights on our awning and put carved pumpkins with a string of light up bones by the road. While we've never camped there in Oct before Halloween I would think Halloween decorations anytime the month of Oct would be great. We've camped in Dec a few weeks before Christmas and lots and lots of folks decorate for Christmas (including us).
This is Disney - put up lots of decorations! Nothing is over the top!

We were there last October and I was shocked at the people who decorated. It was really cool. Lots of golf carts were even decorated, including lights.

Neat! Now I'm getting more excited to get to FW :hyper:
Last year, my family went the first week of December. There were Chirstmas decorations every where. I will be there this year Nov. 2nd and maybe have a chance to see some Halloween decorations before people take them down.

We were at the Fort last weekend and lots of people were well-decorated for Halloween. You can never over-decorate at Fort Wilderness!

We are here now and there are alot of decorations in the campsites and on the golf carts. One site not to be missed is the last one on the left in the 700 loop, I believe it is #735. It is decorated to the hilt and it looks great. Since they are the last lot and are on the corner, by the path to Trails End, they have a super large area to decorate. Stop by and check it out.

We were there a couple years ago at Halloween. If I can get my DH to, I will have him post some pictures we took. We also went touring with our golf cart (decorated of course) with a whole bunch of other people. We had a golf cart caravan, took candy with us and handed it out to the kids.

we saw them too..were they the ones with jack and boogie man inflatables! the haunted mansion people were neat too.. the mickey statue was cute too. I think dd took some photos'
we were in 800 loop, at first we had the side of the camper w ghosts, tombstones(giant wall hanging) until the tape kept coming off so we ended up taking it down...(Dh would not let me use duct tape.. :confused3 )
then pirate mickey's fan went caput.. so all we had was our Tiki man, and our lights.. we did not decorate as much this year as our camper broke down on this trip ... disney was great and put us in a cabin until dh fixed the camper and headed down with it.. bearing went out on the tire.. yes we were bummed.. but it all worked out in the end..I was just too exhausted to get everything up.. I did fire off an email to disney letting them know Judy went out of her way to help us out at the last minute.. and the cabins spoiled the kids.. they didn't want to go to the camper LOL..
we were hoping to stay in the cabins over christmas but they were booked so we are at the contemporary.. yea big change... not sure if I can handle it LOL...
this is the first time we stayed in a pet loop( no we don't have a dog but since we had to redo our orginal ressies we took it...) most pets were quiet.. especially the big dogs.. the little ones well... :rolleyes1 guess they have to be loud to let you know they exist :goodvibes
we did have a cart for the entire week, nana is 80 so it was necessary.. and the kids went to the store more than usual too...
just waiting for the school calendar to come out in Jan so we can plan next fall's trip :)

We were at Ft Wilderness for Halloween in 2004. Didn't put out a lot of decorations, but here a couple of pictures. We also put some Disney Halloween plushes in the front window, as well.
