I'm wondering if its like Disney and I should lock in the AAA rate now to make sure I at least get that. I'm thinking over 7 months in advance so not sure its necessary.

There are a certain number of rooms designated for AAA. Once they are gone, they are gone. I know sometimes they release more rooms if the hotel bookings are low at many hotels, not sure about Universal.

I'd advise booking now. If rate go up or run out, you be glad you did. If rates go down, call and have the new rate applied to your reservation. If you need to cancel, you'll get a full refund if your trip is more than 5 days away from the cancellation date.

Thanks, I did. I thought 191.20 was a good rate for Memorial Day weekend when you need FOTL access. I still see AAA rates for Oct so I'm not sure if they run out of them the way they do for Disney resorts but better safe than sorry. I doubt it would go down but there could be an APH rate released. But for a holiday weekend being only $32 over the "great" offseason rate of $159 when you don't necessarily "need" FOTL access, I'm happy with AAA qualifying rate.

i always book around january 2 for an october stay for hhn.
i book with the AAA discount.
since i lock that room in, i can modify it if the rate drops.
if the ap rates drop the weeks before my trip, i can switch to that discount provided rooms for ap are still available.
whenever a rate drops, you have to call to have it modified and adjusted to get the lower rate. it is not done automatically for you.
