Surfing the net with my buddy RumorMouse, here's some of the dates I've seen:

Oct 1, no info :badpc:

Oct 4, major press event on Main St, 5000 CM's asked to line the street :cheer2:

Oct 5, at the Haunted Mansion :hmghost:

Oct 18 in NYC, :confused3

Oct 1, if I am correct, is the anniversary of the WDW opening!

As for Oct 2 - I have no Info, but, while I was there they had a huge gala press event when some exec got his name on one of the Windows!

We missed that shindig by 10 minutes. But, it was all roped off and very decked out! My wife asked: "What is all this for?" I had no clue so I asked a CM who just happened to be walking by.

After he told us I leaned over and whispered in his ear: "An Exec? They should honor guys like you up there - you are the ones that make this place go!" He whispered back: "I know!".

And, this has been a rumor for over a year - so - that they will announce it now is anyones guess!

I talked to a DVC person who orginally told me six months ago to look for an announcement October 1. I talked to the person this past week and now the person says not to expect anything until January or so. Of course Disney does a good job not informing anyone so who knows. Does this speculation remind you of something? The same speculation happened when they were putting up the billboard and nothing happened. So be patient it could still be several months away.

I had heard mention on some blogs of CM trying to work at certain attractions during the OCT. 5th press event. It's all speculation and rumor at this point. They did mention also that it would be nationally televised.

I thought the announcement was due to coincide with the 15th Anniversary which would make sense, so will just keep an eye on these boards.

More info on the Oct 4 event:

The first dream in the YOMD will be granted to the "first family", who will then proceed thru the MK, going on some rides, and opening the park land by land. :mickeyjum

Nothing yet on any DVC info. :sad2:
