:woohoo: Woot!! did you see the hours for this event? FIVE hours of pin trading! Maybe you'll get in this time cat herder! :thumbsup2 I've missed the past two or three because of being gone most or all of the time (dc 3 times last week even though I got in queue fresh at 36). I'm excited, already paid much for my Jolly Roger pin, but hope they have Zebra when i get there or something better that I could trade for zebra and something else. :yay:

Whaaaaaa!!!!
I'm going to miss it. :sad1:
I'll be leaving home at 7am and won't be near a computer until late Sunday night.
Oh well. Visiting my cousin is a little more important than getting virtual pins at this moment.
I wish everyone good luck in getting in and having successful trades. :goodvibes :wizard:

This could be awesome, especially if the dc problem has been fixed or improved, which, from what I can tell, may be the case.

Okay, can someone explain how this works? I missed out on the last pin event because I didn't have a clue. What kind of pins will there be and what do you trade?

Do you have a specific pin in mind? I can try and get it for you IF I can get in :) and IF the host is wearing it.
I don't mind trying for you, so let me know.

Okay, can someone explain how this works? I missed out on the last pin event because I didn't have a clue. What kind of pins will there be and what do you trade?
All the pin trading events have basically been:
1. Click on the Host. Check out the pins she's wearing. When it's your
turn to trade, pick one you like. Wait for the Host to initiate the trade
window.
2. Offer a pin that was sold under "Specials" in the Emporium. Basically any
series pin will do. I've heard conflicting reports that some hosts will accept
other pins, but I have heard otherwise. I don't think they will trade for
the 25 credit pins.
If anyone has traded the cheaper pins, it's news to me. I just try to do
the trade as fast as possible. I ask for the pin I want first, then quickly
find the pin I want to trade.

After my first "specials" pin trades, I read/heard you could trade buyables so started doing that, the 25 credit pins. No problem. I believe Pirate Emery or someone even got a bonus Eye pin with such a trade, but I'm sure they're less likely to do so.
THEN I heard they were taking the free pins, like Esmerelda and Ned, so i started trading those instead. Again no problem. They don't have any rules posted about what kind of pin is required so until they do , I guess they have to take anything. I'm not one to buy a ton of pins every weekend, so I'm glad I can use the cheap/free ones, even if it lessens/diminishes my chance for the ATIS eye.

Oh thank you Pink!
I don't have any in particular in mind. I just want to do it just to get extras of the more rare for trade.
I have all pins except those in my signature. The only ones that I don't have at least one extra of are the Mighty Eye and Tomorrowland 8/9. So I'm really not in need of any. :)
So, thank you so much for your kind offer.:goodvibes But please try to get whatever you may need. :)
Lori: I have traded a couple of the cheaper pins. But only with Lily. I don't think I would try those with Fin. :)

Thanks for the info. I'm glad I stocked up on some tron pins I dont really want, hehe.
If this is anything like real pin trading in the parks which I'm very familiar with, you can trade any licensed Disney pin for what is on a CM's lanyard. It does make sense that vmk would have similar rules in place for their online events. If the hosts are like CM's then it seems that they would accept any other pin for what they have.
I'm curious to hear if others have had pins rejected though.

I consider myself to be one of the Pin Trading Champions, having gotten into every room since Doom Weekend.
The Hosts do accept 25 credit pins. I have been using the DCA pin that is on sale in the Emporium in every pin trading event and the Hosts have always accepted.

Well this is my experience with the dc monster lately. I can pretty such get into the regular staff game with no problem for the past two months, and almost never dc; but I do dc when playing some of the minigames.
The first pin trading weekend, I think I managed to get into the room and into the trade window with the host 3 times the whole weekend, but I dc each time before the trade talks could start.
The second and third pin trading events I couldn't get into the room at all, but during those same weeks I could get into the regular host games with no problem. This month I have managed to get 7 of the host game pins.
I will try again tomorrow. My husband is leaving on a business trip in the morning so I can play most of the day.

Can you trade multiple times with the same character? Because during that pin trading weekend, I always switched up characters after I got a pin...

I have one last question (I promise). Are they trading all sorts of pins or only tron pins for this event? I'm interested in trading my tron pins but I have no desire to get any in return.

From what I have read the host will be wear pins from all different theme sets, you can chose one of them. Just don't chose the Tron one. :)

Just as you are only allowed one win per day for host games, you are only allowed one trade/day. The trading isn't considered a game so even if you are successful in trading, you can still do a host game with that character later or earlier.

The host wears eight pins, one of them will be the Tron lightcycle pin. Others will be older retired or host pins. If you do a little homework you can know what might be best value if you plan to trade it. I have learned a little in the past month. And you can save your expensive Tron pins for trades in a few months and just use a cheap or free pin in your stock.

I just wanted to clarify in the Staff Trades they do not accept free or quest pins. They want to the pin to at least have been purchased with 500 credits. Trying to trade any other pin of cheaper value only slows down the line. Please trade a pin of 500 credits.

I know last night Lily was saying how the trade event was not 5 hours long... only 3.... I wonder if they are trying to fix that, or if the scraped the trade event for the other, which will then run 5 hours long..

I don't know...I got in line at 10 players in queue and the line never moved...so after about 12 minutes I hit cancel and although I was not dc...I could not move or type or access any rooms...so apparently it's not dc anymore but just as annoying. :confused3
I am really frusterated with all of this. I need to talk to Lily about the trade gone bad last Saturday - she wasn't at the program she was suppose to host the next day (Sunday) and I can't get on middle of the week at 2:30 p.m. and now she's not at THIS event she is supposed to be hosting. :sad2:

Absolutely not! I have always used the DCA Pin (25 credits at the Emporium) and I have never run into any "snag."

I have never been questioned about any pin I put in the window. It's never slowed anything down. Ive never read anywhere in their descriptions of what the minimum value pin is that they will trade for, so the only reason I used 500 credit pins in the first place is because that's what I read HERE that you had to do. Many people don't go on message boards so if there aren't any instructions, as in with Circuit Repairs or whatever it's called, then people don't know any different. If vmk staff or the home page want to say the required minimum trade accepted, then I'm happy to oblige, until then I'll save my credits.

Interesting about that. They had this rule in previous trade events. I know a few friends got burned or denied because the pins they had were quest pins or they were asked to present two quest pins to get the value equal to the staff pin for trade. Again, like you said it should be clear in the instructions.

I was told once that it had to be a series pin, while in trade window with host! So, I always use something that is a part of a series. I tried an inexpensive pin at first, and the host said it had to be part of a series! So, there you go, a little confusion for us all!

It seems when they first started the pin trading events they were very strict about it being the 500 credit pins....then as people were getting dc'd almost every second in the room - the hosts became more interested in getting the trades done asap and did not bother telling people to put up a different pin. I know that I was helping a girl in the line getting to the chair, who didn't know what to do, and I told her they would like the pins you get in the emporium under specials and that's when Lily tried to give me the prize...so I DO think they prefer those pins over the cheapies.
