Congrats on your 16th anniversary! DH & I celebrated our 16th this year too (at Disney World of course!) :thumbsup2
Very cool about the pin. Your story of giving the elderly woman the other pin brought tears to my eyes. How sweet!
This was partly our 16th anniversary trip, and we ate at Rose and Crown for lunch on 11/28. Our server was a lovely girl named Emma, and after the meal she brought us a certificate and two Where Dreams Come True Tinkerbell pins. On the cards it read "One for You" and "One to Give". We were really pleased, because we've never gotten any of the lanyards or fastpasses or anything.
I'd planned on looking for a kid with Tinkerbell pins, but at MVMCP on 11/29, I was taking a smoke break by the Tomorrowland Speedway, and saw an elderly woman sitting by the fence in a wheelchair, watching the cars go by. I watched her for a little bit, then decided, "I'm going to give this to her." I think she reminded me of my granny, who passed away earlier this year.
I approached her, told her about our anniversary and how we'd gotten the pins, and told her I'd like to give her the other pin. Turns out that she couldn't have been a better recipient. It was her very first trip to Disney, and her son and daughter-in-law had started a pin collection for her. On her lanyard was a CBR pin, and the cute one with the characters that says, "My First Trip". She looked really happy to be getting the pin.
I think more than getting the pins from Emma, I was happier being able to spread a little pixie dust of my own. :wizard:

Just back from our trip and we received so many Dreams... both official and unofficial. What a great trip! We got a lot of free food (extra fries, extra milks, etc.....), lots of stickers given out to the kids too. I also got a dream fastpass one day at EPCOT. Although I couldn't use it, my nephews were beside themselves with joy when I gave them mine! We sat next to a couple during Turtle Talk with Crush who got a free fireworks cruise for the MK fireworks (they were sitting at the Contemporary eating dinner and a CM approached them and asked them if they wanted to see the fireworks - they even got a cooler stocked with drinks and snacks on the boat!). But the best event of all happened yesterday morning. On a whim, I told my husband I was going to try for breakfast at Cinderella's Castle. I walked up to the counter and started to say to the CM, "I know this is probably impossible....", and she said, "You never know, dreams happen. How many people in your party?" I told her four and she said, "Get them here as fast as you can and that is your Magical Moment!". I was floored! I got a huge smile on my face, the CMs all laughed, and I ran as fast as I could to find my family (who were munching on cookies on Main Street - nice breakfast!). We were seated within a half hour. I thought they would stick us in the back corner, but we had a beautiful table right by the windows. Then Aurora came over and stood with us during the "Make a Wish" ceremony thing they do. My girls were beside themselves with glee!!!!!!!!! This almost made up for my horrific trip home last night (we didn't get home until 3:30 in the morning! 7 hours later than planned!)
Oh... and in the spirit of "paying it forward", we bestowed some small "dreams" of sorts on others. My husband bought beers for the couple behind him in line at the UK. He said that the guy was in a wheelchair and had just come back from Iraq. He said he was a pretty young guy, there with his wife, and my husband told him that he wanted to buy him a beer to thank him for all that he did for our country. I was busting with pride for my hubby!
For my part, I returned a lost little girl to her parents. She had wandered out of Pooh's Playground. I watched to see if she was going to any of the families sitting by the strollers, but she just kept going. I told my husband to watch our kids and went to retrieve her. Her parents were pretty happy... they had that frantic look about them when we got back to them. By the way, it was pretty crowded there this weekend and I saw a lot of little ones wandering away. Someone always got them back to their families, which was nice to see, but it was a good reminder how quickly something like that can happen.

We 3 dreams over thanksgiving week last year.
#1 - My daughter 6 and nephew 6 were waiting in line with their grandparents in the tomorrowland speedway. Thanks giving week, it was a 90+ minute wait. 2 dream members came up and said they needed 2 race cars drivers to test a 2 new cars on the speedway. The 4 of them were taken out the back of the line, over the bridge where the exit line is and they jumped in the 1st 2 cars. We got 90 min of park time back.
#2 - We were staying at the Beach Club and my wife daughter and i were walking to the boat dock to ride to MGM at around 10:30am. Two life guards who were working the boat dock asked if my daughter could help them find a pirate who stole their treasure. So we got on a pontoon boat with them. Toured the lake, then spotted a cm in a water sprite with a jolly rodgers flag. We chased him down, docked the boat and my daughter caught him. He gave her his pirate treasure 9toy rings and such) a pirate hat and eye patch. We were then driven over on the pontoon boat to MGM for our own private taxi.
#3 - At MK, pirates broke, and everyone in the ride got a any ride MK fast pass that expired in 3 days. We were leaving for home in about an hour and couldnt use them, so we found a family and gave them 13 passes. Paid it foreward.
We are going for a land and sea trip january 2008. I hope we have good luck again.
After an 11.5 hour drive that should have only been 9...we are still feeling the glow. We started saving the day our grandaughter was born and 3 years and 9 months later we got to watch her enjoy her first (hopefully of many) trips. A couple of special things happened this week:
1) The absolute highlight of the trip - while eating those gigantic muffins at the Main Street Bakery we were approached by a CM who asked Madison who her favorite princess is and arranged for one of the 5 minute private visits with Cinderella which was of course captured on videotape to treasure for a lifetime.
2) Everyone got the light blue and silver mouse ears after a Safari ride at the Animal Kingdom.
3) Madison's mom got chosen by Captain Jack at the Pirate tutorial (the only adult in the group and we thought it strange but since she adores Captain Jack we didn't ask questions).
4) Madison's dad got chosen to be Bob Scratchit in the World Showcase Players "A Christmas Carol".
5) DH and I got on a sneak preview ride for Spaceship Earth which thrilled me because I was really bummed that it was still under rehab.
6) After mentioning the bad reviews we read here about Raglan Road to our server Colin he didn't charge us for a round of beer and threw in a sample glass of another. By the way, the meal was excellent and Colin was a doll!
All in all it was a pretty perfect first trip for our little girl. :cool1:

On Monday 12/3/07 we got off the Haunter Mansion ride and got a dinner for our party at Chef Mickey's.
The dinner was for all members of our party (6) for 5:30 that night. When we arrived we did not have to wait as a table was set up in the corner for us. We got a photo session with Mickey and got six copies of the picture. The characters each spent a lot of time with my daughters and the prize was really great.

My dh, sister and I all got our fast passes to tower of terror, which sister and I were going to see how dh made out first and he would let us know how it went. None of us had ever been on it before. He came back after using his fast pass and sister and I still had time on our fast pass, so we decided to try it since dh said we would do fine. We got inside and they told our group that we had been chosen for yoamd fast pass for the day. We came out smiling both from the ride and and prize and proudly showed dh. He was a little envious but then discovered that for most of the rides we didn't need them since the park was not very busy. We have a nice souvenir and it was thrilling just to be in the lucky TOT spot at the right time.

My nephew and I got Dream Fastpasses in the AK this morning while on the Maharaja Jungle Trek. Since AK was not crowded, we didn't need to use them. We have them (totally intact) and will keep them as amazing souvenirs.

Hey all,
Hubby and I are AP holders, and have been not lucky enough to win anything other than the 2 "Keep one, Give one Tink pins" the first week of the original promotion. (not complaining.) Spent two weeks there in Sept/Oct, nothing.
Just spent a busy three days there (12/12-14), and on our first morning, we were walking the animal paths near the safari exit at AK when we found two cm's (not wearing the old plaid vests) when they told us we were in the right place at the right time. We, and a few behind us got the new MouseEars, these have all white ears on the black base, with the only markings on the front. We were thrilled. The next morning we were at EPCOT, on line for Soarin and heard the same statement..you are in the right place at the right time. This time we got the EPCOT FP's, and were delighted. It was empty enough that we did not need them, so we have 4 new souvenirs. By the way, when I went to have our names sewn on, I mentioned that we had been guests since 1973 and had never owned "ears" before. The lovely CM waived the cost, and gave them to me free.
We also got to ride the newer version of Spaceship Earth, too. Loved it so far.
We noticed, for us, the common factor was, popular rides at the park, not the first group to go through, in fact it was just around 9:30-10:00 AM time frame both days. Just something to think about.
Here's hoping that others have magical trips too!!

While on vacation recently from Dec 10th -16th i received 2 Dream Lanyards:cool1: :wizard: . The first one i got when i was walking out of the
Pagini Trail next to the Safari ride. There were 2 Dream team people there
telling us to come closer because they have something to share. The second
one i received at Downtown Disney.:)
I have been a "quiet observer" on the disboards for almost a year. I joined when I saw you could have someone send kids postcards from DW. So thank you so much to who sent my kids (Olivia 8, Christopher 5 and Ben 2) postcards! They thought it was fabulous! I'm sorry I can't remember who sent them!
We were at DW 12/8-13th. On Sunday I thought MK had EMH opening at 8am. Well, when we arrived I was asked if we were there for bkst? I said, no we are here for EMH. The securtiy guard smiled and said, you are a bit early-the park opens at 9am today! My husband was giving me such a hard time that we were 70 minutes ealy for opening! So our kids took picutes of birds, my ds who is 2 fell and scrapped both knees. (glad I had the band-aids!) A CM came out to the enterance gate by where we were "making ourselves comfortable." She said, "Mam, can you come with me?" I was a bit worried-thinking we are loittering and we will have to leave!:confused3 She said to me, "would your family like to open the park?" I said, "of course we would!" We have never been to MK before so I had no idea what we were in for! She gave my kids all autograph books and pins. We then road the fire truck to toontown and had the play area to ourselves. The train came in that we were riding on-apparently that one is only brought out for the opening and that is it. We were met by Mickey, Daisy, Mary Poppins, Bert, Alice, the Mad Hatter, Clarabell, Horace, and chip-n-dale. It was so amazing! They all signed the kids' books. I kept telling my kids that this doesn't happen to everyone. This is a very special thing-savor every moment! We rode the train in and Mickey sat by us. :cloud9: We got off the train and stood at the top of the rails. We counted down and all threw pixie dust out at the opening. We then were able to get a bunch more photos with Mickey....
It was definately a dream come true! I am so grateful that I made the mistake of when MK had EMH.
We had a few more things happen to us over the next few days...although nothing compared!!
My two older kids and I we able to ride soarin` by ourselves. We had got a baby swap because my ds (2) was sleeping. My dh and dd, ds didn't get out of the ride until 945pm! They let us then go in by ourselves and every cm working the ride came out and told me to "have a good flight." It really touched my heart that they would do that!
Another night on the way out of Splash Mtn a cm told my son to "come here buddy." He thought he was in trouble...the cm gave him a huge bag of cotton candy and told him to share.:)
We had the trip of a life time! That is what we thought it would be is once-not anymore. We are hooked on Disney! We are know planning on making it an annual or semi-annual family trip! A big thank you to everyone to contributes to this board! I found answers to all of my questions, and the information was extremely valuable!!!
sorry if I have a ton of misspellings! I am trying to type fast before my dh gets off the bus.;)

The CM at MK are just wonderful. My daughter Katie, who is 7, is a big time pin trader! She has passed the lanyard stage and now has a portfolio she takes with her to do her trading. A CM traded pins with her then gave her FOUR Tink Year of a Million Dreams pins. Katie came running back to me so excited that she couldn't even tell me...she just pointed to the pins. Then she quickly shared them with her sister as well as a little girl who was on her first visit to WDW. This small gift absolutely made her day!

This is not an official YOAMD, but one night of our trip my dbf brought me to a carriage ride at Port Orleans. There were rose petals all on the carriage, and at the end of the ride, the CM handed me a Cinderella pillow made out of carnations and a glass slipper.
After she handed me that dbf PROPOSED!!!!!! We got pictures and I even got a tiara to put on. When we got back on the boat to get back to DD, the boat driver asked us what the crown was all about. We told him and he got on his radio before taking off. When we got off, he told us that he had gotten us reservations at Fulton's for that night!!!
On the last night, we had ADR's for Cali Grill, and our server brought out a piece of chocolate cake with congratulations written on it!
It was the best trip of my LIFE. :cloud9:

Britbrie, official dream or not, it was the very best dream ever! How romantic! Please post photos.
Congratulations!!
On Monday, Dec. 10, my DD(26) and I were getting on Star Tours at the Studios
and the Dream Team came on and gave everyone the Ears! It was so great.
For the rest of the day all the other CMs were congratulating us. We also
received a beautiful Tink pin from a nice lady at Guest Relations when we were
picking up our passes. I couldn't believe we actually got stuff! I thought it
only happened to other lucky folks, not me! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

what are yoamd fast passes??
YOAMD = Year Of A Million Dreams
The YOAMD Fast Pass is one of the million + prizes that may be won as part of the YOAMD. Specifically, let us say you won one of them in Epcot on Christmas Day. You'd have a fast pass (it's a little tab on a card, as opposed to the "traditional" fast passes that spit out paper from the machine) for each of the Fast Pass equipped rides in Epcot, valid only on Christmas Day. You'll find pictures of them YOAMD fast passes somewhere buried in this thread.
Enjoy the Magic!

My parents won on Saturday (castle stay), so we drove down for the evening. It was great! I have tons of pics, I just can't post where they are.
The nice thing, the suite had a small Christmas tree. I am glad we went while it was up, it really made the suite prettier.

Hi Everyone,
Well, on December 30th, the last night of the Candlelight Processional, we had watched the 6:45 show and it was GREAT!! Well, my mom and her hubby decided to stay for the 8pm show - we left and walked around EPCOT....
Welllllll.............the line for the 8pm show was astronomical, so long in fact that my step father actually walked up to someone and asked where the end of the line was for the show. She was nicely dressed and was wearing a plaid vest.........she asked them if they had ever seen the show before, and they told her that they loved it so much - especially my mom. She then asked if it was just the 2 of them and they said yes - well.............she said that she had just been going to go get the last 2 people at the end of the line, and if my mom and bob were headed that way, then they would be the people she was going to grand a dream to!!! So, she brought them in a special entrance and sat them way down in front where they were able to chat with some of the American Singers and musicians before/after the show!!! This was the best dream ever for my mom, and I was so thrilled that she had a "dream come true!"!!
We did see the dream team around some times, but that was the dream that we got!!

In August we were in Epcot for the day and wanted to go back to the room in the afternoon to cool down and then come back and ride soarin' and watch illuminations but the come back time on fast passes was only 5:30 and it was about 3:30 The wait time was 110 min. I started to walk to a cm and ask about coming back at a later time and another guest got to them first. So plan B. There were 2 cm just standing around and talking (I thought) next to the fast pass machines. I thought lets make them work. Remember this is Aug and it is hot and muggy and all I want is a shower. So we walk up to the two cm and ask them my question (because I had heard on the boards that you couldn't do that before we left) and the answer to my question was how would you like to get on right now. :wizard: I looked at the cm's and said "there is a 110 min wait" she said yes. At this point DS17 has come back to reality and says mom right now. While DD13 is trying to pull her chin off the floor and DD 10 is just speechless. The cm wisked up out a side door and into the backlot where only cast members are allowed. We were then given front row seats. I heard another guest complain as they were seated about not being able to sit in the front that they were in the front of the line I just turned and said it is our dream and held up our card that they filled out for us.
Even though it was not a big Dream it was our dream. We had ridden it in DL/CA and it was always our last ride. And one of our favorite. We haven't been back to DL/CA since our trip to WDW. I'm afraid of the let down.

On January 9th as I was entering Soarin we were given YOAMD Mickey Ears. I know it is not the most original dream, but I was so shocked that I had actually won. I had been to Disney last year and had also been sending postcards but had never won anything. I definitely did not expect to win anything on this trip. It made my day. Thank You Dream Team! :)

We were just at Disneyland over the New Year holiday (Dec 31-Jan 3), and a dream cast member approached us. They said we had been noinated by two custodians (who were stading there beaming) for VIP Fantasmic Viewing that evening! We were so excited, but, as it turned out, Fantasmic was cancelled due to high winds that evening. It was a bummer that we did not get to "realize" our dream, but it was just so cool knowing that regular people like us get chosen!

Also we saw them granting Princess wishes the same day across from city hall at 1p.m. in the MK but were not selected.

Last Friday, I was entering Pizza Port at Disneyland with my sons, brother and his girlfriend and this nice staff member, (not wearing the blue and white uniform) asked me if I would like to participate in blah blah blah. I couldn't hear her!! I thought she said "survey" so I said "Sure!" Next thing I know, she's walking us around the food area, sitting us at a round table marked "reserved" with a while linen tablecloth, blue linen napkins, silverware, glasses and a menu. Then she proceeded to "serve" us dinner. She took our order, got and delivered our food and drinks and when it was time to pay, we walked up to a cashier and she rattled off our order to her. Then she said we ge the Deluxe Discount 15% off our food. It was awesome! We didn't have to wait in the lines to get our food, drinks and pay. We just sat and at like at home. It was so cool. When we were done, they cleared the table and made it available for the general public again.

Oh... and in the spirit of "paying it forward", we bestowed some small "dreams" of sorts on others.
Tears came to my eyes as I read this. Not a lot of people realize or even appreciate what our troops go through for us. I think what you're husband did was pretty amazing!! More people should say thank you!

We won Dream fastpasses at the queue of "THE SEAS WITH NEMO AND FRIENDS" last Friday
The wait time was only 5minutes and my youngest daughter(2yrs old) wanted to go to Nemo ride. Other older daughters(8 and 6) did not want to go(they preferred Soarin, or Test Track). The Dream Team was hiding inside the building and we were surprized with the encounter. By the dream pass, we could go to all rides without any waiting. My older daughters thanked the youngest one a lot because she was the reason we could get the dream fast pass!

DH and I went to WDW right at the very start of the YOAMD, in September 2006, when they were still taking down the Golden Anniversary decorations, and we got one of the first little dreams.
DS1 was 21 months old, and I was pregnant with DS2. We hadn't planned on going to WDW in 2006, with DS so little and the new baby due, but then DH found out he had to be in Orlando for business in September. I had a free flight credit that had to be used, so we decided to go on the spur of the moment, booking a bargain room at Pop Century and budgeting everything super-carefully. We only took the cash we'd set aside for each day to the park with us.
So we're standing in front of the Main Street Bakery, DH and I and our very tired toddler, hungry for a snack before the fireworks and the long bus ride back to the Pop. It's been quite a while since dinner; we stayed much later than we thought. I check the stroller basket, and we're down to one jar of baby food and about five Cheerios. DH and I count up the money we have left, and it's just enough to buy one, yes one, chocolate chip cookie. We can't even afford a drink to go with it. But hey, all three of us get in line anyway, because darn it, we're going to get our one chocolate chip cookie and split it three ways.
At the counter we place our order, and the counter CM looks at us, laughs, and tells us to wait a moment. She disappears into the back. When she comes out, she's gathered a group of four or five bakery CM's, and they all start all clapping as she presents us with a gigantic chocolate chip cookie. It's one of those enormous ones, so big that you can use it instead of a birthday cake, about a foot across, and they tell us that it is free because of the YOAMD.
We are so surprised; we really didn't have any idea what the YOAMD was all about. We manage to say "Thank you, thank you!" and then as we take the monstrous cookie, DS spots it. He knows exactly what chocolate chip cookies are; he doesn't get them often, but he loves them. And he has never seen a cookie like this in his 21 months in this world. His eyes get huge, he starts laughing and bouncing up and down in the stroller, and signs "More! More! More! More!" as fast as he can move his little hands, because HE WANTS THAT COOKIE.
We gave him the whole entire cookie to hold, and he took a bite and looked as if he'd visited heaven. It was so funny. Then we sneaked it out of his hands, split it into more manageable pieces, and all of us got to have our snack. That cookie lasted through the fireworks, the bus ride, snacks the next day, dessert the next night, and DS even had a little of it on the airplane home. For us, it was the perfect little dream. :thumbsup2

Hi
Our first day at MK and our first trip to Disney, we were just about to go into Its a small world with our three year old. As we were going to join the queue, a guy stood at the side stopped me - At first I thought we were going through the wrong entrance and then not sure if he was anything to do with Disney. He had a dark blue fleece on with a small logo.
Anyway, he asked who was in our group, DH, DD, Sister and nephew and then he had something special for us and could we follow him. Now I had worked out it could be a dream.
He took us to a separate entrance and after speaking to DD for a while, said that he had a special job for her today, to be Cruise Director of the ride. My sister was sent down to the side of the boats to take photos and we were escorted up to the controllers room above the ride. There was a little step for my daughter to stand on and he told her to wave the ride off and say 'go' when she was ready.
Everyone was looking up at us and waving as they started their trip. We were there for about five minutes and my sister took loads of photos. We were then escorted down the steps and down to the ride, where we jumped the queue and had a whole boat to ourselves.
We have a nice little certificate to say we had a dream and it was a great start to our holiday. I am not totally sure dd realised how lucky she was, but we were thrilled!

We saw the Prize Patrol over in Westside in front of magnet store (Jan 16). One guy was away with a video camera so I knew they were going to give away something good. I said hello to them and my DD even tried to trade pins with them but I guess they were on mission to hand out something to someone in mind? On way back we found out by a CM that they gave out a nice in the castle.

Not our dream, but still it was cool to hear about.
We were at a Christian comedy show at a church in Green Bay, WI last night. The couple sitting in front of us was telling their friends they were with that last Tuesday at MK they won the overnight stay in the castle.
DH couldn't resist (plus we had a half hour to kill before the show), so he asked them a bunch of questions about it. I swear it was almost as thrilling to meet someone who had this experience as it would be to have it yourselves. Okay, not quite, but still it was quite thrilling to hear about it.
The funniest part was they didn't even go to FL intending to go to WDW. They were there visiting her parents, who live 3 hours from Orlando. Her Mom said "what do you guys want to do tomorrow?" and they decided to go to Epcot since they had only been to WDW once and it was 16 years ago!
So they had no luggage or belongings with them as they were just going to spend the day. They said the dream team gave them pj's and they had dinner and breakfast in the castle. They were also given jackets as they had none and it was chilly that night!

It's so great On January 10th me and My family had ADRs for 8:05 at CP. The park didnt open until 9. So after we ate we went straight over to Tom Sawyer's Island because we wanted to find a paint brush. Well it didnt open until 10. So we road BTMR and shopped. We were the first ones to ride over to Tom Sawyers Island. The 4 of us split to look for paint brushes and never found any. So we jumped on the raft around an hour later and as we got off we saw the Deam Team. We ended up getting Dream Fast Passes and I literaly started crying. It was our last day and I was soooo happy.

I had a wish granted last March. I went with my high school band on our annual trip to Disney World. My group of friends (there were 9 of us) was just getting off Splash Mountain, and a Disney rep came up to the one of us that was sitting in the front of us and was like "How many are in your party?", we answered 9, and he was like "You all need to follow me..."
Now, I'm not going to lie. This scared the mess out of me. When you're a group of teenagers and a rep from a company comes up to you, you pretty much automatically assume you've done something wrong and you're in trouble. So we followed the man into this "Cast Members Only" area and he was like "You've one Dream Fastpasses as a part of our Year of a Million Dreams!"
And after about five minutes of him convincing us that it was real, and it wasn't a joke, we were ecstatic! Since we were there with the band, we had very limited time in the parks, and since it was so crowed, we were really afraid we wouldn't get to ride everything. This was honestly exactly what we needed!

I don't know where else to put this so I'll put it here. My husband was home from Iraq on his 2 weeks of R&R earlier in January. We had booked the 7 day Western Caribean Disney Cruise and later decided to add 3 nights before the cruise at WDW as a sort of appetizer. I had booked a 1 bedroom value villa (smaller than a regular 1 bedroom villa) at the AKL through CR on net. We normally would have just booked a regular room, but since we hadn't seen each other in 9 months, and we were all about to share a cruise ship stateroom... you can see where I'm going with this... Anyway, I had paid my first night's deposit and had a printed copy of my reservation in hand. Upon our arrival at roughly 6:00 PM, the AKL had no record of our reservation and no 1 bdr. villas (value or bigger) or 1 bdr. suites to spare. I was trying to remain calm, but I know that there must have been a tear in my voice when I said, "my husband flew in from Iraq on R&R last night and however you fix this, I MUST be in a separate room from my children tonight." The CM consulted with whoever was in charge for awhile and to my surprise we were given a 2 BEDROOM SUITE. Now a 2 bdr suite still costs $1275 per night, even in the off season (like $2300 per night in peak, I think). It was amazing! It was beautiful and luxurious. Nothing the Dream Team handed out to us. In fact I didn't notice them in any of them parks while we were there. Just Disney doing what Disney does best... making the dreams of everyday dreamers come true.

We just returned from a week in the parks and didn't see much of the dream team either. I know they were there as I saw lots of people with dream fastpasses and dream ears, but we never saw a group of them during our trip. We did see on dream member while waiting for the parade and she gave my daughter a birthday card signed by several characters as well as the "Hollywood Studios Dream Team".

I posted about winning the VIP Parade passes at Animal Kingdom on New Year's Day. We won them at Dinosaur, pretty early in the morning. Sadly, that was the day of the Capital One Bowl which we were going to, so we couldn't use them. (My mom and sister did though since they weren't going to the game).
BUT...I can't believe I forgot to mention this. When we were at Animal Kingdom on a different day, we were planning on going to Festival of the Lion King and then the Finding Nemo musical. So, we were in Camp Minnie-Mickey getting some character pictures to kill some time. When I went to go find my mom, a nice CM walked up to us and asked us how we were doing and stuff. Then she asked if we were going to see the parade. Since mom and my sister just saw it the other day, we said no. Well then she asked us if we wanted to be IN the parade!!! It had always been my dream to be in one of the Disney parades! So of course we said yes. We had to meet the CM by the safaris to get our "costumes"...we rode with Mickey!!!! They had a whole bunch of different families, and each group got a disposable camera because the lady took our picture as we were making our way out onto the parade route. We all had a blast! :goodvibes :goodvibes

That is so incredible! This also happened to DW and I on May 3 last year on our trip. It was probably one of the highlights of our trip.
We scoped out some awesome seats across from Tusker House (right by the bathrooms in Africa) and I had just returned from getting some sort of smoothie thing for DW when a CM named Sarah approached us and started chatting. We probably chatted for about 15 or 20 minutes before another CM named Antonio (I think) approached us and said "You two, come with me" in a fairly stern voice. I started thinking "to heck with you, I've got great seats for the parade and I'm not going anywhere". I think Sarah knew what I was thinking and she said "no, no it's a good thing" and sure enough Antonio wanted us to be in the parade!!! We rode on right in front of Rafiki; I think we were the very first float which was pretty special. By far the most magical experience we had during our two week stay!

My DSiL, my DS10, and myself went to DW in May. We arrived late due to storms in NC. We went to board Magical Express and were told that our baggage would not be there untill the next morning. This was when the height of the nothing in carryons would be allowed on the flight so everything including our toothbrushes were in our checked bags. While we were checking into our hotel we were commenting on how we must look and smell awful having to run through an airport at midnight to catch our flight, and how nothing would be there till morning when the lady checking us in told us to hold on and disappeared for a few moments. She came back with 3 T-shirts and 3 toothbrushes and a tube of toothpaste for us and asked if this would help. We were just so thankful. Even at the wee hours of the morning magic happens.

I remember I was waiting in line for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (third favorite ride in WDW) with my brother, and as we got to the part before you have to watch the video, they called all of us.. and we got a free pin trader necklace.
I don't collect pins or anything, but I do like to have the necklace that carries all of my room keys and tickets. So that was a really awesome surprise! It may look tacky, but it really is handy.
A while back, I bought a generic one like that to hold my keys.. and it cost $20.. imagine how much it would of cost for the one I won? I'll never sell it though :surfweb:

We got a not-an-official-dream but it was still very cool. On my daughters 7th birthday we did an early BBB for her and then got her a birthday pin. We went to wait for rope drop in Tomorrowland so we could go on Space Mountain as our first ride. The wonderful CM's at the rope saw Carissa's pin and chatted with us for a while. About 2 minutes before official rope drop they let our family past the rope so she could be the first one on Space Mountain! One CM walked us there and we were able to walk through a deserted Tomorrowland and a deserted Space Mountain queue and then Carissa was in the front of the first car of the day. Very cool for her!

Sorry I am posting this so late, I just saw this thread. We went for 10 days in September and were mega Dreamed. Nothing huge but awesome anyway! pixiedust:
~ My son won a private meet with Cinderella after being in MK for the first time for no longer than 5 minutes. It was so cool. :cool1:
~ We got to the the first Safari family in AK one day. We also got a front of the line pass for Safari and a FP (good all day) for EE.
~ My kids got chosen to be the Pirate Tutorial with Captain Jack at the hands of a terrific Dreamer who also spent an afternoon, 2 days later, with us doing the following:
DS got sworn in as a Lost Boy and then we got to go to the front of the line for PP
DDs got to be Cruise Directors on IASW. This totally brought tears to my eyes as IASW is my favorite. Then we got front of the line.
Ice Cream with our Dreamer.
Private Princess meet in ToonTown, again no line.
Kids got to be in Storytime with Belle due to our Dreamer.
FPs for later when we left our Dreamer.
We got to watch the fireworks from the deck of the Astro Orbiter with our Dreamer that night. It was truly amazing and I bawled like a wee baby.
Meet with Captain Jack where he kissed my DD- hysterically funny.
I know I am missing one. :confused3
On other days we got to be the first Splash family and got an 8x10 of our ride down the Splash hill. The Dreamer also gave us 5 FPs for Splash later that day and then took us to BTMRR to the front of the line.
They also got 5 sets of the Pixiedust pins throughout the trip.
It was an amazing trip and we felt super lucky. pixiedust:

We didn't win any (official ones) at WDW in September (didn't even see any given out :confused3 ) but we just got back from a 5 hr. trip to Disneyland today and we won 2! :cloud9: We also, finally, won our first ones there on Jan. 30th.
We arrived before park opening (10 a.m.) and when the park officially opened, we went directly to Indy to ride. As we were exiting, they were handing out Dream Fast Passes-Yes-we finally go a Dream! :cloud9: Unfortunately, that day (a Wed. in Jan.) we didn't need to use them, at all, so we now have a cool souvenir. So, today, we got there just after park opening (9 a.m.) and, again, we went to Indy first-you know, just in case lightening struck twice! :rotfl2: Well, can you believe it, there they were again, Dream Makers! I was very excited as I thought we were getting Dream Passes (and the park was more crowded being a holiday) but we got hats instead. Still a very cool Dream!
A few hours later after we had crossed over to DCA, I saw Dream Makers handing out something behind the S.S. Rustworthy, in front of Pizza Oom Mow Mow. DD8 and I ran over there and received passes good for an extra hour in the park, after closing. Again, cool to receive, but we wouldn't be staying 'til closing, so again, another unique souvenir. I noticed that the DMs were still there 45 mins. or so later. They had alot of passes to give out, and DCA wasn't too crowded. :goodvibes
So, I've learned to get there at park opening, and be on the look out for the DM. They are there! I hope we get a least one official one when we go back this Sept. :grouphug:

My DD and I won ears last summer coming off Maliboomer. We have won 4 pairs of Dream Ears in the mail. :cool1: I really want a lanyard with pins! Going to WDW soon, hoping to win something.
How did you get stuff sent in the mail?

When DH and I went in Sept. we were walking through MGM going to the ToT and a CM stoped to congratulate us on our honeymoon/wedding and we were talking for a few mins. Then she asked us if we would like to help her out. So i asked what she wanted us to do, and she asked us to be the GRAND MARSHALS of the stars in motor cars parade!!! I was so excited! :cool1:  Later on we bought some stuff and had it sent to the pick up area at the exit of the park and when i went to get it there were pins and certificates attached to the bags that said i was the customer of the hour or something like that. It was really cool!:woohoo: I was also asked to help out in one of the skits they do on the streets of MGM. That was very funny! So i guess MGM is my lucky park! We are going back next week with our DD and I am wishing for some more disney magic! :wizard:

We went this past summer for a week to WDW with my dh, 3 ds, 1 dd and my parents. While we were at MGM studios I noticed a small piece of trash blowing in the wind. I bent over to pick it up at the same time a CM was doing the same. I told him no need sir- I'll get it and picked it up and went to throw it away. When I got back to my family the CM was talking to my parents telling them how nice it was to see some one care about the parks staying clean. He then told my parents that obviously they raised me right. He wished he could give me something more but saw my dd (who was 6 at the time) and asked her if she liked Tinkerbell- she of course said yes- so he gave us 2 pins one to share and one to give away. It wasn't a huge thing- and I would have picked up the trash no matter what- but we sure used it as a learning experience to tell the kids that you might not always get rewarded for doing the right thing- but you always will feel better about yourself.:wizard:

Hi folks
My Daughter (aged 8)was given 3 dreams and my son (aged 3) 1.
dd dream No 1. She was asked if she could get involved at The Lion King show at Animal kingdom by helping to teach the audience to learn a dance on the stage (i knew all those ballet and dance lessons we have been paying for through the nose for the last 4 years would payoff :) )with the hostess of the show, they gave her a signed certificate with yomd and signed from the cast of the show.:thumbsup2
dd dream 2 . She was asked for her autograph from a cm and the next thing she was asked if she could spread the magic for mickey by handing a tinkerbell pin to someone she saw make a difference or whom she felt could do with some magic and was given another for herself to keep.(3 days it took her to choose , she took the decision seriously , we were so proud of her as she debated with herself the merits of who should be the recipient)
dd dream 3 and ds dream 1 , A cm at Hollywood Studios asked my kids and us to follow her to what could only be described as a sea of disney bears in a store and told the kids to get into the middle of them and got some great pictures and signed yomd certificate for them both .
We also saw the winners of the Castle prize as they were on Alladin's flying carpets with us and when they got off they were talking to the dream team , we did not think much about till we saw them in the parade later that day on the castle winners float. (a young family)
I have to admit we did not know much about the YOMD although we new it was on , and never once did we go looking for anything , and we would had had a fantastic vacation if any of these things not happened but it was so nice we think because it just added to our memories of a magical holiday.
I hope you all get a dream , but even if you dont enjoy were you are, in a magical place having fun with the ones you love and for me and my family that was more than enough.

I haven't posted in years, but wanted to share the unexpected and wonderful things we received on our trip in january....
dh and 2 dd's received dream fastpasses at exit of Peter Pan ride for 'exiting in style' which my tiny fashionista thought was hysterical.
we received dream fastpasses at Studios from another family who won them and couldn't use them. We accepted but never wound up using them so gave them to another family to use.
dd's got certificates for free photopass photos after a very magical photo op with princesses in toontown.
18 month old ds got a fastpass for soarin that can be used by entire family when he is tall enough to ride.
dd got a free ride photo for her first expedition everest ride.
We were Gardening Family of the Day at Garden Grill which meant we got an appetizer prepared just for us by the chef (the most delicious ribs you have EVER tasted!) and all the characters came to our table together and took huge group photos and came back individually through the meal too. We also all got glowing ice cubes in our drinks and got to sign the 'family album'.
Dd's were princess of the moment at an impromptu ceremony with a cast member at tinkerbell's store in fantasyland, they were given 'pass them on' pins to go out and make magic for others (this was dd's favorite 'dream')
A castmember caught us 'making magic' for others (dd's were handing out glow necklaces to other kids waiting for parade one night) and gave them really cool light up necklaces and many many compliments on making magic for others.
So, we were absolutely showered in magic on our 9 day trip!
Good Luck to all who have trips coming up, it really was magical!

Reading this thread reminds me that despite all the negative that we see and hear in the real world that there is still goodness and kindness and MAGIC in people. I read each of these post and can feel the Disney magic all around. It reminds me of my times at Disney. Times when everything else in the world doesnt matter, times when my preteen and teenage daughter laugh and play together, times when mama can act silly and nobody thinks she's weird, times when I look at my husband and remember why we fell in love.
Congratulations to everyone who has had their wish come true and for sharing your magic with me. pixiedust:

We won YOAMD lanyards last year as we were exiting Snow White's Adventures. I was disappointed at first when the family in front of us met the dream team and I said "Oh, I guess we were in the wrong car" because I didn't see her giving out any more. SHe told me that we all were winning the lanyards...yahoo! It seemed as if a lot of dream were being given out in the early hours in Fantasyland...just my experience! We saw a family chosen to go with Peter Pan and a girl got to meet a princess for being able to sing a song. We also noticed the CM's being more friendly than ever! They would stop my boys just to give them stickers...we must have gotten 30 or so before the week was over.

Last May we won Dream Fastpasses at MK! This was the first time we'd gotten up early to be at a park by opening. Goodness, was it ever worth it! Getting Dream Fastpasses at MK is an AWESOME TREAT!:cloud9:
We also won the special Mickey Ears in Epcot!
It's soooo much fun! Even if we aren't the recipents of a prize it's loads of fun to watch others that are.
Thank you so much for starting this thread. It's fun to hear about the MAGIC!

O.K. ours is a small one, but it was still really sweet. We were walking through CBR toward Port Royale, and a cm in a golf cart came riding up to us. She chatted w/ us for a while, and then looked at my ds5 and said, "you can't be at Disney w/o a hat" and gave him a pair of the YOAMD ears. His eyes lit up like you wouldn't believe, and he keeps his magic ears on his headboard. Also, we got to pay it forward a little. We were stuck on Splash Mountain for a while (not too bad, since we were inside and the kids really got to see some of the animatronic animals better than usual.) Anyway, when we got off, they announced that we would all be getting FP's to any one MK attraction the rest of the day. Well, we were leaving so we had a lot of fun looking for another family to give them to. They were so surprised, and it was just as much fun spreading a little pixie dust and getting some.

During our January 2007 trip (it seems SOO far away . can 't wait til Jan 09) we had a few wishes come true:
- we walked in a parade in the Kingdom
- my daughter was Princess of the Day when we went tt a princess breakfast in Norway (That was the best one!)
- We received a 8 x 10 glossy of Alice in Wonderland & the mad Hatter . . but we couln't find them to get it signed
- we were "Family of the Day" at Cosmic Ray's for lunch one day . . . no free meal but once we ordered & paid we were escorted to a reserved booth complete witih pixie dust, great view of Cosmic Ray's performance, and staffers brought everything we could possibly need (condiments, napkins, etc) and cleaned up for us

In May '07 we got my friends and I got a dream. We were walking off of ToT in MGM (now DHS...) and a cast member pulled us aside and asked us to go up an elevator. It was sort of weird but we get off the elevator and we're in the loading zone again! It was pretty cool. Also, last summer (July '07) I got the Dream Lanyard at the end of Mission: Space and won front row seating at The Festival of the Lion King. It was nothing spectacular, but it was still cool =]

On our honeymoon in Sept/Oct 07, we walked up the safari in Animal Kingdom but decided not to ride because the line was a bit long. We walked away and we were maybe a few minutes walk from the entrance and a CM stopped us. She congratulated us on our marraige (we had the bride and groom ears), introduced herself and asked if we knew about the Year of a Million Dreams and then asked us if we wanted to ride the safari. She led us through the exit where we got to ride the safari with no wait and in our own vehicle. It was awesome!

I love this idea. DD7 would love to be able to hand out glow necklaces to other kids. She's an only child, and it's just her and I going to WDW for 8 days. What a great way to pass some time waiting for the parade - and she can have a great excuse to say 'hi' to some other kids while waiting.
Thanks for that one!!!!

I don't think this is considered a dream but I want to DW(a suprise from my parents) for my B-Day. I was so excited! When I was there I had my birthday pin and my B-Day cake hat. Everybody said happy birthday to me and I felt so special. I got a card from Liberty Tree Tavern that was signed by the charectors and at Chef Micky I got a placemat signed by the charectors also. The thing that made me feel even more special is the GF (the hotel i was staying at) gave me a white chocolate mickey with cookies and it said Happy Birthday Victoria, then there was a card signed by Auora saying happy birthday and a picture of her!I was sooo suprised!!! i still have it in my friedge from november! A few other special things is that I was chosen in the Woody dance thingy to be one of the helpers. I danced with a cowgirl and we switched hats! When we switched the hats back watever woody's horses name is(if anybody knows his name it would be helpful) tried to eat my cake hat! My other special thing was when we were going on the carasal of progress the cm annonced my name and said it was my birthday! It was so amazing! DW makes me feel soo special and they treated me like a princess for my birthday! Its magical!! princess: Go Disney!!!:cool1: :donald: :mickeyjum :tink: :goofy:

Me and my brother saw a bird and we said the name a cast member was right next to us and we didn't even notice we were so caught into it. We said the birds name and the cast member said your right that is a ......... my mom heard her the CM say i will be right back. A 2 min later the CM came back. It was a certificate saying that me and my brother were bird watchers of the day.It was pretty exciting! The CM also signed it. Me and my boyfriend (Jon) went for the first time together this past September. On our first full day at the parks, we got up early and headed to (then) MGM. We were there pretty early, so we just sat on a bench until about 20-25minutes before the park opened, then we got in line. We were only in line for about 5 minutes before a jolly, older CM named Tim came up to us and started talking to us about our vacation, what we planned on doing once we got into the park, which ride we were going to first. Rock'n Roller Coaster was closed, so obviously we were headed to the Tower of Terror.
Well, we kept talking for a bit and then Tim asked us if we'd like to help open the park! Of course we said yes! So we put our tickets through the turnstiles and whatnot and went inside the park. Then Tim walked us to where the rope was and sat us on a bench. He gave us each an "Honorary Citizen of Walt Disney World" pin and told us what our roles were going to be in the opening "show" and that once it was over, we were going to be driven down Sunset Blvd. to the Tower of Terror, to ride before the rest of the park got there!
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii269/universaldisney/Mousellaneous/1.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii269/universaldisney/Mousellaneous/2.jpg
It was amazing! We said our lines in the skit, and then the lady driving (what Tim told us was once one of Walt Disney's personal cars) took us to the entrance to ToT, where Tim was waiting for us, recording us on our video camera that he got from us before the show. Then Tim walked us through the queue and saw us onto the ride.
Once the ride was over and the doors opened, Tim was there waiting on us again! He walked us down the exit hallway so that we could see our ride photo. Me and Jon just started talking about how we HAD to get this souvenir when Tim told us that we didn't have to! He was going to give us either two 5x7s or one 8x10 for FREE!!
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii269/universaldisney/Mousellaneous/l_4b793c199cbe0546e571501030ae28d1.jpg
Once we got our picture (an 8x10), Tim walked us out of the gift shop and told us that he was going to hold onto the picture for the day, and that we would be able to go to Guest Relations on our way out of the park to pick it up.
When we went to pick up our picture, it was inside a Year of a Million dreams envelope, with two magical moment certificates and a personal note, written by Tim, wishing us a magical vacation!

This December will be our 3rd trip during the YOMD, first during December:santa: . Not to sound too whiney or a sense of entitlement, but we have not been at the right place at the right time. Everywhere we went, we saw people with Special FastPasses and other YOMD stuff. We met tons of people with stories too. Kidos are 5&7 and have no idea what YOMD is, so not a big deal. We just go on our marry way and have the time of our lives...must not be looking for the stuff.
This is why we DON'T play the lotto or gamble. :goodvibes
Maybe the Dream Teams :grouphug: see how magical of a time we are having already and know that we are already on Cloud 9!
The place is so magical, we don't need anything else.:tinker:

I dont understand your question. Are you asking how to subscribe to win something during the YOAMD? Theres no subscribing. Its all out of pure luck and timing to win something at the parks. You can also sumbit an entry through the mail to win something by mail, but thats it.

I'm a little late posting this...we were at WDW in JAN 2008, and we received a few "dreams"---
Hollywood Studios - we got dream fastpasses when we went in to see MuppetVision 3-D.
Animal Kingdom - At the end of the day when we were folding our strollers, we realized a CM had placed a small "dream" certificate inside the net bag hanging off the stroller---it said we were the "most prepared family for a 2 week safari"---I think because it was a cloudy day and I had rain covers on both strollers, ponchos, rain pants, and an umbrella. I always overpack. :thumbsup2
Magic Kingdom - Liberty Square - Christmas Shoppe - The CM let my sons decorate the Christmas tree near the register, then put their names at the top of the tree and gave them each a certificate with their names on it.
Not an official dream - in MK, Frontierland, the CM let the boys each pick out a rock in the rock bin for free. Also, for Woody's Round-up, my son (who was in a Woody costume) got to dance with Woody throughout most of the "round-up"....definitely a magical moment for us. :wizard:

How has Epcot changed since the mid eighties when I was there? What are the most interesting features of the park now. Thanks in advance for your help!
Dizneydaz
03-15-2008, 11:12 AM
The first time I went to Epcot was also in the 80's (1983, I think) I didn't make it back for 15 years and there were alot of changes in that time, and since then. Epcot is actually one of our favorite parks. DD8's too! :goodvibes
I don't want to hijack this thread so briefly there's Test Track, Soarin', more lands, The Living Seas with Nemo and friends, the grounds, Illuminations (changed since 80's), etc. Innoventions, East and West, etc. If you post your question on the Resorts thread, you'll get even more info. Have a great time!
ADDED-and in keeping with the theme-Last Sept. we didn't receive any official dreams. Never saw the Dream Team either. DD did get one of those special tink pins, one to keep, one to give, when we had a ride malfunction on TT. But, we've now received a few Dreams over the last few months at DLR. Dream FP twice, extra hour in the park DCA, and hats. I think they may be giving more out (at least that's what the DLR commerical says!)

I won the dual Disneyland/Disney World High School Musical 3 Premiere Vacations on 3/12/08 at 2:44pm at the Winnie The Pooh ride. First Car exiting, first row, first seat.....
To be honest I had never heard of the Year of a Million Dreams contest until I was shuffled off to a private office for the paperwork and forms.
I am sad to say that I was a little rude starting out because I thought they were trying to hard sell me a timeshare!!! Boy was I wrong.
My 3 year old and her 7 year old cousin will have a blast in both California and Florida.

We (DW, DD10, DD14 and me DH) went in December 2007 (I know this is a little late for the post) for 10 days.
We won dream fastpasses twice - Once in Tower of Terror (MGM) and once in Test Track (Epcot). :thumbsup2
My daughter Kayla got to open Animal Kingdom. The whole family got to walk the rope and then we got 1st row seats for the Safari. In addition as we were getting off we got a fastpass for Everest as that was our orginal destination anyway. :thumbsup2
Kayla also got given a duplicate set of pins at the entrance to Star Wars. The idea is to keep one and give the other away - which she did.i :thumbsup2
She also got a certificate for kindness at the Seas pavillion.:thumbsup2
I must tell you that Kayla our youngest who is 10 had a go at me before we went to say that the chances of us winning anything our practically zero and so she is not going to get her hopes up. She admits that she had to eat her words. :rotfl2:
Anyway the biggest dream for us is that we have just decided to go back this year in December 2008! :cool1:

I won a pair of ears about 2 months ago in the mail. They are different looking ears, though!!
Last time I won in the Year of a Million Dreams mail off (The Lanyard Set), it was hand delivered by certified mail....but this box was just placed inside of my mailbox. I also haven't mailed off any postcards in AGES. The last time I did it was probably about 5 months ago! I also didn't mail off the postcards regularly. I would mail one maybe every 2 weeks...usually when I had to mail off a water bill or an electricity bill (everything else is paid online).
I opened the box to find.............

We won Dream Fastpasses in MGM.
We were clueless about the dream team, we just thought they were in there fixing a ride.
We were sooo suprized when they gave us the fastpasses.
We couldn't stop playing with them the whole day!

I had a friend just return from WDW and he didn't get any dreams. Out of blatant ignorance I decided to ask him how it worked (as if I already don't know :lmao: ). He said that the dream team folks were easy to spot because of their blue shirts and backpacks but the real trick was catching one of them.
He went on to tell me that if you saw one of them you'd have to chase them down and ask them if they could grant you a dream. If they said yes then they'd grant you one of three dreams. I can't remember all three but one was the night in the castle and another was $1000.
Could you imagine the chaos down there if these were the rules???
"Look!!! It's the dream team!!! GET 'EM!!!!" <<<insert stampede here>>>
This is also the same friend that got to the parks everyday by early afternoon and wondered why he had to wait for EVERYTHING!!! I even gave him my copy of the Unofficial Guide. I actually almost went with him and his family but was able to go on a vacation with my own family to Hawaii instead. I would have absolutely lost it if I was there!!!! Honestly, after talking with him yesterday his list of things that he missed out on (including Epcot ENTIRELY) was much longer than things he saw. I really felt bad for him.
I guess this just shows that it's worth it to do your homework...and set an alarm clock :lmao:

1st thing- We were at the MK on 12-06-07 and won the landyard and pins. We went on spalsh mountain first thing after they opened and the dream team were waiting at the end of the hallway passing them out.
2nd thing- My nephew and I were in the christmas shoppe at MK 12-06-07 and they asked if he wanted to decorate the tree by the register. He got his name on the top of the tree, a certificate with his name on it, and a disney world ornament.:wizard: :wizard: It was very cool.

My son won at EPCOT on March 14 2007 while he was on Mission Space. I read these messages all the time and never reply but now I had something cool to share I thought I would. We choose April 1st because of Spring Break for the kids. This way they are only missing 9 days of school as opposed to 3 weeks.

The last time I visited before my annual pass ran out, I got a lovely Tinkerbelle pin from one of the wandering CM's on Main Street. It was great to get something right before I moved away from Florida and my ability to visit Disney anytime I wanted on an annual pass.

OK I have a question for everyone. I've been spying on this thread and decided it was time to post something. Last year when we went during the year of a million dreams we didn't have any dreams come true.:sad1: Saw lots of people with dream fastpasses and other stuff, but no luck for us. I don't expect to get anything this August when we go either. So.... I decided to start sending entries daily. I have been sending an envelope a day for me and one for my DH(only for like 2 weeks so far). Why I thought of this just now, I don't know.
I had been hand writing the envelopes but printed a bunch of papers with our info on it to stick inside. Then yesterday when I got more envelopes, I decided to print the address in Walt Disney script. Much easier right? I just now, the dummy that I am, decide to read the official rules online. I says a hand written paper or postcard with your info. What should I do? I bought custom Mickey return address labels and already printed out maybe 50 if not more papers with our info on it, plus the envelopes. Recycle the paper, not use those envelopes?? I guess I can always use the labels. I just don't want them to see my envelope and be like "this dummy didn't read the rules, GARBAGE pile for this one". Not to mention the cost of the postage for the rest of the year. YIKES!:scared1:
Any opinions will be greatly appreciated:thumbsup2

It has taken me weeks to finally read all these pages.
Congratulations to everyone granted a Wish.
We were in Disney in December 2006. Kiddos received a few certificates for different things. Only saw the Dream Team once. They were at the exit of Tom Sawyer Island early in the day. We were on the raft heading to Tom Sawyer Island. By the time we left the island they were gone. So close!!!
Grumpy (Non-disney fanatic husband) and myself are taking a Parents Only trip the first week of June. It would be great to win a wish, but I am fine if I don't. I am actually planning on packing some stickers and little things to gift other people with. I am planning on giving them out to kids, parents without kids, and solo travelers. (Which is what I will mostly be since Grumpy will be at a work conference for most of the trip. I am just tagging along so I can visit The Mouse.)
I have not heard of anyone winning the Private Day on the Island yet.
Maybe Mickey is saving that one for me.

oct 07 we were at epcot just walking around the world showcase and enjoying the view and the food when we were passing a young man taking a picture of his wife or girlfriend. i approached him and asked if he'd like to get in the picture and i'd shoot them both. he happily agreed and i took a nice shot of them with spaceship earth in the background. after i gave back the camera and began walking away with my family, a cast member came up and said he'd just witnessed a kind act and wanted to share the dream with me. he gave me the card with the tink pins, one to keep, one to share. i gave the to share pin to a passing little girl who had lots of tinks on her lanyard.

Last June.
I went on a WDW trip with my best friend family. As a best friend he
told me that he was planning to propose to her some time during our trip. So while I was at MK i was looking out for the Wishes crew. They seem to come in and out of places and gone. So while we were sitting down near pirates of the Caribbean ride we was approached by a Wishes crew and offered us some pins and other stuff. We told him that it was our dad's birthday so he gave us a birthday sticker and pin. He was very nice and also asked us a bunch of questions. I never knew about it till then till it ticked in my head that they are there to grant some wishes. So we spent our latter of the day in the rain running around trying to find them for the wish for my best friend. We ended up finding one approach him inside a gift shop and casually asked him if we could get a wish granted. He asked what and we told him that my best friend needs help he is shy and wanted to propose to his gf but don't know how to do it and would like for you to help.
So in the end we talked for about thirty min. He asked us plenty of questions and how we wanted to do it so in the end. He blocked off access to the side wishing well. Gave us a ring holder, also a engraved picture saying congrats with "mickey!" on it! and also front row access to the parade/ wishes firework show! In the end he proposed to her during sunset with the Disney music wish upon a star playing in the background!
I have to say out of all theme parks that I have been this by far blown us out of the way!!

I was on my 1st ever trip to WDW last month. I had heard of YOAMD but didn't expect to win anything. On day 3, we were boarding Star Tours. I noticed the Dream Team sort of heading our way but didn't realize who they were. When we were seated, they introduced themselves and told us we all won YOAMD Ears. Woohoo! It was exciting, especially since I love Star Wars! A great memory and souvenir.

We were at WDW the Tuesday after Easter, and my ds was waiting in line t try and pull the Sword from the Stone. Kids were being rude and cutting him (hes 11, so a little more patient). A cast member came up to me and started talking about how patient he was. When it was his turn she told me to take his picture which I did. She then said she was with the Dream Team, and have him try again!! HE PULLED IT!!! She gave us all a FP for the whole family to use on any one ride! It was great! She made him Prince for the day! He loved it!!

i just got home from disney and amazed at how magical it really is. (even at 23)
yesterday as we were entering dinoland at animal kingdom we were approached by a cast member who said we had won!
he escorted us onto the dinosaur ride, bypassing an hour long wait, we walked straight on, and my family was given our own car to ride on.
He waited for us to finish our ride and took and walked us on to the rest of the rides in dinoland.
it really was a dream come true to walk to the front of the line and have a ride all to ourselves.
I really have the disney spirit now!
How fun!

We rode Haunted Mansion first because we knew it was going to get crowded later in the day (our last of 6 days at WDW) and we were given Dream Fast Passes as we were walking out of the ride. At first my DSs were disappointed because they wanted the night in the castle or $500 shopping spree that they had heard about on America's Funniest Home Videos. But then they got excited as the day went on and we bypassed 40 and 70 minute waits. I even got them to go on Winnie the Pooh (they're snobby 9 and 7 year olds) which they never would have done if it wasnt' one of the fast passes.

My family (my dh, ds and myself) have been to WDW in January of 2007 and 2008. In 2007, the only wish we had granted was when a CM walked up to my son (2 yrs old at the time) and gave him a stuffed "Flounder" doll from Little Mermaid. He held it the rest of the trip. Then on our next trip, my son had kept saying he wanted pixie dust in his hair b/c I had told him we might get his hair cut and decorated at the main st. barber shop. Well...his hair was getting a bit long and I took him for his haircut right before the trip (not thinking) and so he really didn't need a cut at WDW. I told him we'd see about the pixie dust but we really never got around to it. THEN...we were leaving Peter Pan's ride and a DreamTeam member stopped my son and asked him all kinds of questions about the Peter Pan ride and the movie, and my three year old son was answering the questions correctly every time. Then he started pulling stuff out of his Wishes bag and he pulled out a Peter Pan certificate and a small velvet pouch with something (we weren't sure) in it. Believe it or not...he started reading a Peter Pan poem about the lost boys and tinkerbell and then he pulled PIXIE DUST out of that small bag and sprinkled my son's head with it....and declared him an "Honorary Lost Boy!" Isn't that cool?? He handed me the certificate with an official Tinkerbell signature (he signed it in front of us) for us to take home and frame. So my son got his pixie dust dream after all!! Later on at epcot, I also got the pair of tinkerbell pins, one to keep and one to give away. I found a little boy who was shopping with his mom and being really sweet and gave it to him b/c he had a lanyard full of pins.

We won ears in Nov 2006. We had taken a just potty-trained 2 year old as the big reward. Well right befoe we were going to board the train in Toontown - I got the mommy I got to go look. We ran through toontown and I politley asked the line at the ladies' room could I cut. They all shooed me in. When we got back there was the dream team giving everyone that was waiting ears. So the whole train came to a stop at the main station. You should've seen the ear envy. My son was also chosen to be the lost boy of the day when we left out of Pinochio Haus ? so we skipped the line at Peter Pan. Loooong line. We were also the family playing music on the stairs outside of Philharmagic. We got certificates for both of those.
I've sent cards before but I'm about to start sending them again.

In Paris they had us ride the jungle book float with Baloo and King Louie.....in costumes....as LEAVES. Someone tell me how to post pics on here???
There should be a thread on the Technical support board on how to post pictures. Someone help b/c I want to see pictures! :)
Do you have pictures of you all as Leaves? LOL, I would love to see that! Did you guys get a special photopass, or do they have photopass in the other Disney parks? How long did you guys have in each park? I know, I have a lot of questions, but it's just too cool! :thumbsup2

Grand Marshal World Tour was great.
Every park treated us like royalty. Paris was the largest park with more unique rides than anywhere. I'm tired!!
I bet you are!! How wonderful!! Can't wait to read your trip report!!!!

Go to a website to upload your pics. I always use imageshack.us but you can also use photobucket, etc. After uploading, grab the link that will take you directly to the picture on the website for each pic. Once you have those links, come here, create a post. Up where you have your font type options, etc. look for a yellow icon all the way at the end to the right. Not the very last icon, but the icon before the last icon, is the pic icon. If you roll your mouse over each icon, the icon will say INSERT IMAGE. Click on that icon and insert a link that you got into the box and click OK. Do this for each pic. You may not have enough posts to post pics yet. I think you have to have a minimum of 10 posts (someone correct me if Im wrong). Just post a few more times and then post your pics. If you dont want to wait, just create a post and post the links to your pics.

me and my daughter were in Epcot on October 12th - she was 13 - and for some reason no matter how many times we are in epcot i can never figure out how to get from imagination to mission space - well this time my forgotfulness paid off - as me and my daughter were discussing (very loudly i may add) who knew how to get there - we were greeted by 2 wish team members who gave us Dream FastPasses for Epcot for the day - granted they did make us run for them but it was all in good fun - after we got them we notice they just stand off - kinda hiding - but yelling we got fast passes and as the families find them they ask them to do something crazy for them.
me and my daughter were never so happy in our life and being able to fast pass mission space was awesome.
we are going back this september and hopefully we will be lucky enough again to have a magical moment.

We were picked to be the "First Family" at the American Adventure in Epcot on 4/26/08. We were able to sit upstairs in a special seating area in the gallery to watch the Voices of Liberty finish their performance. Then we were allowed into the theater before everyone and could pick any seats that we wanted. They announced us as the first family of that performance and gave us a certificate. It was a very nice experience.

My DS (9) received a magical moment certificate on the cruise line...He loves the guitar, and so we were in the Promade watching the live band (Wave) when the guitarest John invited him on the stage to play with him, he actually let a 9 year old handle the guitar and foot pedal, this was the highlight of the entire vacation, it even beat out the jet ski's. Later that night we found the certificate in the fish holder, and then the next night he was allowed on stage to help play with a blow up guitar. Sometimes people wonder why they pay more for Disney, but all of these Moments are the reason.

April '07my DD ended up with several pins from cast members. the first was outside Epcot. When we were heading to the buses our 2 sons stopped to pin trade with a cast member. When he noticed my DD did not have any he asked why. When she said she forgot her's in the room at the resort he gave my daughter a set of tinkerbell pins. The set says has one to keep and one to trade. 2 days later at MGM, we were purchasing items in one of the stores and the cast member asked her if she could name all 7 dwarfs. When she did he asked her which of his pins she liked the best. He gave her the pin along wih a YOMD certificate. Then the next morning my DD slipped on the wet floor in the restroom at the poly after our Stitch breakfst. She only skinned her knee but while I was cleaning her up another mother who saw her fall went and got a cast member. Even after I said she was okay the cast member had us sit while she got her first-aid cream and a bandaid. when she came back she also had another set of tinkerbell pins. YOMD is great and it's nice to get a 'a little magic'.
Even before Million Dreams there have been experiences with castmembers who have made our children's day special. And they were things that did not cost Disney anything more than a few moments of time. 2 years ago when we were heading to a Princess lunch in Norway a cast mamber stopped my daughter and ask 'Belle' (she was wearing her custome) for her autograph. He pulled out an autograph book and my daughter's feet hadn't touched the ground for the rest of the trip. When we went on the 'Mexico' ride the cast member bowed down to her and called her princess. I also know my kids love and enjoy when the castmembers come out and play while waitng for the parade to start. And one occasion all 3 of my kids still talk about, is one morning we took a ride down mainstreet on the double decker bus. When we got to the end it was nearing the time for the show at the castle to start. Instead of getting off the driver asked us to join him and watch the show. Sometimes just the little gestures have the biggest magic. Even on the cruise. Our servers went out of their way to make our trip special.

I've made it up through page 78, I think (love it when things at work get mindless :) ). Everyone's stories have gotten me even more excited about heading to the World in three weeks and two days. :yay: It'd be great to win Dream FastPasses or the Dream Ears. But I haven't been since I was 10, so I'm sure I'll have a great time no matter what.
Still, keep the stories coming!

Hey Everyone,
My family and I went to Disney this March and won two dreams I think...lol...The first one may not have counted, but anyways, on our second day my brother who is 9 begged for us to go see Lights, Motors, Action and as a joke we were giving him a hard time saying no one wanted to sit there and watch it so we weren't going to go but we did go and that made his entire trip. Well while we were there he was picked to drive the remote control car. I have never seen a child smile so big! My mom and I were crying bc he was just so excited. The funny part had to be when the emcee asked him how old he was and he says "7, no wait 8, IM 9" the poor thing was so nervous he couldn't remember how old he was. Once he realized he wasn't really controlling the car he turned to the emcee and said "Im not really driving it am I?" and the emcee says "Nope" but he laughed through the whole thing! Afterwards he got a Lights, Motors, Action Pin and a certificate that had the Year Of A Million Dreams Logo on it. So thats why we thought it was a dream, we could definately be wrong lol
Our second dream were Fastpasses. We recieved them when we got off of Thunder Mountain. It was very cool to get them, but we didn't need them at all. We went the first week in March and there were barely any lines for anything. So we just saved them as souviners!
Well those were our dreams! I hope more dreams come true for everyone on this board!!!

Your brother got a Magic Moment. It's similar but it's not done via computer randomization, only by the CM's discretion if he/she has a MM to give away.

Last August I took my DD's and 3year old DGD to the Castle Breakfast. My DGD was dressed as Cinderella, shoes and all. A CM asked if we wanted to ride the magic coach elevator down with him. We said "Sure". He told us it was the only round elevator at DW and it was beautiful. When we got to the ground floor he asked if we had been to see any characters yet. He then proceeded to take us all around the MK going in back doors and special entrances. We were given the privilege of being "NEXT" at every character spot for the whole afternoon. They took pics with our cameras and theirs and spent so much time and effort with my granddaughter at each place. It was so exciting. Thank you CM Jack!!! What a magical day we had. Sorry to those who had been waiting in line for who knows how long, because we got to go ahead - but it was a DREAM!!!!:yay: :yay:

Wanna know what I find odd. People who go to WDW several times during the yr and not win squat. But someone who goes down 1 time after not being there for a few years or a first time trip they win something or something's. Its like Disney knows. They get to be here several times so lets not let them win any thing. But HEY, its been awhile for them or its their 1st trip here, give them a prize or a magic moment. :rotfl: What can I say, Disney sees all and knows all!

When we were at MK in April we took my DD to BBB and she LOVED IT! After we got out of there we decided to ride the carousel. When we were in line people kept telling her how pretty she was and other little girls were telling their parents she was a Princess. She felt VERY important. When we were waiting in line a man walked over and asked if we could help him. We said SURE! He said he was looking for a girl in a blue dress to lead the carousel by being Honorary Princess and riding Cinderella's special horse. He wanted to know if we knew of such a girl, I looked down and my DD was saying " I have a blue dress on"....:lovestruc So we got to go to the front of the line and he had her stand up infront of everyone and announced she was a Honorary Princess and they were going to have the pleasure of riding with her. Everyone clapped and she got a certificate. She was VERY excited and it was just MAGIC. Perfect timing and a PERFECT MOMENT.
Thank you Disney, it was really like a dream.

My friend and I won Dream FP's in front of the Tigers on the exploration trail in AK at 10:12 on 5/9. We were also given free drinks, Mickey bars, Strawberry bars, and soft serve at 3 different times during the day (friend had his bday button on). The topper was being pulled from the line at FOTLK for VIP seating. We were sent to the exit and sent in before the doors opened to anyone else. I've never had a day like this. I've been to Disney over 150 days since the promotion started. The friend I took with me had never been to AK before and now he thinks this is an everyday thing.:thumbsup2

On May 7th, when we got off of BTMR, we were all nabbed and given lanyards to return to the MK after the park closed for a park to ourselves for an hour. So, while the fireworks were going on, they got us together, approximately 1000 people, in Tomorrowland with a DJ, and let the park empty, then we had free range of the park from 9:30 - 10:30.
By the way it was my wife & I, no kids, if this helps in the numerous stragies for figuring out the magic.

On May 22nd My mom,my 2 daughters and I were crossing in front of the Finding Nemo Musicial in AK and a Dream lady stopped and asked us if we were going to see the FNM,we told her yeah we were thinking about it,and she said that she had a VIP pass with VIP seating that she'd just love to give to us if we'd accept. We said SURE bc it is my 4 yo dd's fav movie :) We were able to sit up front in the middle of the theater, and the characters ran right passed us alot. Marlin asked my 4 yo dd did she know where Nemo went :) She was SO excited!!

While in WDW in August 2007 for our family vacation and my son and daughter-in-laws honeymoon, we received Dream Fast Passes in Epcot. What a surprise as I had entirely forgotten about it being the "Year of a Million Dreams". We were so surprised to be among those picked as we got off our ride! I will be going in Sept for my birthday and am actually hoping to be lucky enough to be picked again for ANY prize!:goodvibes

I just discovered this entire forum tonight while I was planning my family's Disney vacation in July...and I immediately signed up! This is like my Mecca. And this particular thread all about the YOAMD is amazing [it took me a bit to figure out all the acronyms!]! It makes you feel so happy and excited about the kindness that people can express for one another...and seeing as I'm going to be attending Boston University's School of Hospitality Administration next year with a goal of one day being part of the Dream Team/Squad, this is like giving candy to a kid!
I do have a question though...how do you know which cast members are part of the Dream Team? Do they wear something different? I would love to just see them in action...it would be enough to see someone else's day get made...I'm already at Disney World, I don't need anything else! :]

Wow! Welcome to the Dis!
The Dream Team dresses differently than the cast members do. They had on tan pants and blue shirts (I think) and they carry a good sized black bag that holds their goodies. ;) Get on a ride around 10:10 -10:15 b/c they do pass out a lot of stuff around 10:30 for some reason. that's when I got my dream fast passes one day and my DH got them (dream fast passes) at another park the next day. ( got them exiting a ride and they surprised us!)
:goodvibes
Good luck and have FUN!

We got wished! :wizard: We just got back from 8 MAGICAL days of DL. I swear that at times the park was open just for us! Our party of 6 girls: me, my DD (9), my DM-in-law, my BFF and her 2 DD (4 and 7) got wish after wish. The wished ranged from small things like stickers, tattoos, little cardboard magnify glasses to several pins, VIP seating for Alladin and VIP seating for the Billy Hill show, a free sweatshirt for my DD, and getting escorted on to both Pirate's and Matterhorn... to our great BIG wish of being GRAND MARSHALL for the parade! :cloud9: We loved it and don't think that I am complaining by ANY means, but we found out that we were supposed to stay in the apartment too, but they had a CM scavenger hunt that night and the apartment was not used that night due to the CM event. We were also wished to ride the Lilly Belle, but due to rain that was cancelled. We loved the parade and the chance to ride in the dream car and wave to everybody. They gave us the signs that hung on the sides of the car. :woohoo: FYI...if you are ever picked as GM do NOT try to mail the signs home using UPS! They were going to charge us $150! We took them to the USP and the total fee including the material we bought to wrap the signs came to $25. If any of you were at the parade on May 20th and have pics of us please get in touch with me!

I was in Disneyworld April 15-19... The weather was really warm but other than that it was an awesome time... I took my 13 year old niece and a friend of mine who had never been there before...
One of the days we went to Hollywood Studios formally MGM and my niece and I went on the Tower of Terror. But before we got on the ride... There were two cast members standing in front of the doors. They said you all seem to be in the right place at the right time... Cause you are our winners for today... We got 2008 year of a million dreams mickey ears...
We could not believe it... Unfortunately that is the only thing we got....
But we are planning another trip for the fall.
Maybe we will get lucky again.... :cool1:

DH, DS(4), and I have our trip to CSR planned for August. We will be there for our anniversary. We made sure to mention this to the CSR. We're planning on making some matching shirts. Can you think of anything else we could do to increase our chances of winning a dream?

My DH and DD won pin lanyards twice and YOMD mouse ears twice on this trip. I am wondering if I can get the mouse ears monogrammed for them for free anymore or if they no longer do that?
