does any one know if it is possible to pay for weekend rooms in cash instead of using DVC points?
i am new to DVC, obviouly the fri/sat points are more than sun-thurs.
i wan to know if it is possible to use points for sun-thurs and pay for fri-sat using AP discount???
if this is possible, is it a case of booking the paid nights seperatley and piecing the holiday together? this could get complicated when staying 2 weeks!!
thanks for any help..

it is but not worth the hassle .When we go we check into a value first night (sometimes 2 nights) on cash as think its a waste of points as you only get there late.we usaly get up early go to our dvc rsort and check in there at least then we have the pick of rooms that come available

Hi wen, yes it is possible to do this. You would have separate reservations for the cash portion and the points portion but in theory they should be able to be "linked" together so that you would not have to check out and in again.
Remember there is never a guarantee of an AP discount at the time you are travelling, for the resort you want.

would member services book the cash days for me or would have to do that seperatley with resort?
Yes you can do it - we did it at easter (DW didn't want to move - i.e. pack and unpack). I think we booked through Member Services but it might have been Central Reservations at the 11-mth window. You get a DVC Owner Discount. When the AP discounts were released we enquired if these were cheaper but they weren't. We had the different bookings joined together so it was as if we had one continuous booking. One thing to note is that the cash price for your booking excludes taxes, so we were hit with resort taxes etc which increased the actual bill, but it was still much cheaper than renting points for the Fri and Sat night would have been. Something like $540 vs $720 per night for a 2-bed (albeit taxes pushed it up to $600 or so).

we have just done it for next year. I didn't want to borrow points from 2008 as we want to go for three weeks so I did 2nights using cash and the other 12 nights on points. It was weekends on cash. Both reservations are linked so therefore we don't have to more rooms. Member services did all the transactions.
we also got a DVC discount on the cash nights. :thumbsup2

what is the DVC member discount? how much do you save?
I think for us it was 20-25%. :wave2:
