Well, here it is. Just about 2 days before we leave for our 9 day adventure in the World and my 8 yr old is sitting next to me with a fever of 101.7!!!

Had her to the pediatrician and started antibiotics, so we SHOULD be okay. I still have a case of the jitters.

AND... my husband just called... he's laid off. First day of his layoff is Monday 9/18 when we are on Vacay!

What is a girl to do but count her blessings! If I don't I'll cry!!! :rotfl2:

I wouldn't worry so much about the fever. I was told it shouldn't even be medicated under 102.

But DH's job....gosh, you aren't having the best luck.

When I first started reading I thought you are lucky because the fever showed up now and not the night before you leave (unlike my Irish son who vomited and immediately passed out the night before a 6 am flight to Dublin!).

Then as I read more and learned about your DH's lay off, my heart went out to you. I hope you can still have a magical trip and DH can find a new job asap! pixiedust:

I'm so sorry to hear your bad news. I hope you all have a magical time at WDW and bring some magic back with you. Best of luck for your DH!!

My DS2 is coming down with something too - He was unusually fussy today, and very tired. His temp was normal, but his body felt warmer. :confused3 He wouldn't eat dinner, so we gave him some applesauce, and he just now lost it. (And he's not even Irish!) ;)

Our trip to Disneyland is 8 days away, so I guess I'll be grateful and hopeful that he's over it by then.

PS. Wanted to add that I hope you have a relaxing vacation, and that your DH finds an even better opportunity quickly. :shamrock:

Your poor sweetie; I hope she is feeling better before the trip. I wouldn't worry about it, though. With antibiotics she should be up and about it no time.

Tell your DH to hit the unemployment office the minute he gets back from vacation. He'll probably received severance and vacation pay, but then he'll be eligible for unemployment. Since it probably won't be equal to his pay, I would suggest a part-time job. You can make a certain amount and still be eligible for benefits.

Here's some pixie dust to you ... I've been laid off twice, hired back once and got a better job once. Here's to it ... pixiedust:
