I think it's always a good idea to bring a sweatshirt or light jacket. My DD is always cold so it's a staple in our bags. If you are flying it can also be chilly on the plane.
Have a grat trip!!!!!!!!!!!! :wave2:

Omg, just came home from work, is it chilly out. It could be old age, but I don't remember it being this chilly this time last year. Leaving for the world in a few weeks and seriously thinking of bringing sweatshirts. :dance3:

You could always not pack them, and if it gets chilly you can buy a sweatshirt or jacket there. Makes a good souvie, and gives you a good excuse to buy one. :teeth:

I'd say back atleast a jacket, but depends on you really. For me, I pack shorts and some regular shirts but then again, I wore shorts in 40 degree weather last time LOL, it can't hurt to pack one jacket or sweater to be safe.

If anyone in your party tends to be one of those 'cold people' then I definatly would. I live 3 hours south of The World and it starts to get a little chilly at night. You would appreciate a sweatshirt for sure. You can always tie it around your waist if you don't need it!!! :teeth:

We are going the first week of Oct as well, I am bringing at least one per person in my house and 2 for me I am always cold. Plus when we leave from Vermont early Sunday morning its going to be cold here. I would do what you think is best for you and your family. If you bring them and not use them what would it really hurt?

Have fun :woohoo:

Why not just bring and be on the safe side. One less thing to worry about.

I own a few WDW shirts and sweat shirts because I didn't want to pack them thinking tanks and T's would be enough and wouldn't you know, I needed something warmer. I've also said I wouldn't go to the pool on a 2 day trip and have had to buy swim trunks and flip flops. While you can expand your Dis wardrobe, they are expensive.

You could always check the 10-day forecast on one of the weather websites before you leave. :sunny:

I live in Fl we went the end of Oct. One year it got so cold and no one forcasted it. The only place I would buy a coat because I have to many at home was Mexico in Epcot. I so needed it. we are going the first week in Oct this year so I will bring a sweatshirt.

We went the the first week of October last year and it was very hot. We took some warmer clothes but never touched them. We also went to MNSSHP and our kids took off their costumes about 30 minutes into it because it was so hot.

Odds are you are going to get very nice weather in October. It's our favorite time of the year to go. However, cold fronts can sometimes dip into the 60's in October at night. Because Orlando is so far inland, the ocean breezes and currents don't help keep temps warm, so it does tend to cool rapidly after dusk on clear nights. Now 60's may be bikini weather to some Canada, but to us it is cool and requires some additional layering. I remember in Oct '03 that coming out of the warm pool was rather chilly, even though it was in the mid to upper 70's. Last two years has been extremely warm, even in the "cold" months.

Ok, I got curious. Weather.com has the published average for Orlando. Below is for days 1-7 for the month of Oct.

Day Sunrise Sunset Avg. High Avg. Low Mean Record High Record Low
1 7:19 AM 7:12 PM 88°F 69°F 79°F 94°F (1986) 61°F (2001)
2 7:19 AM 7:10 PM 88°F 69°F 78°F 95°F (1962) 57°F (1984)
3 7:20 AM 7:09 PM 88°F 69°F 78°F 94°F (1971) 57°F (1984)
4 7:20 AM 7:08 PM 87°F 68°F 78°F 94°F (1986) 58°F (1974)
5 7:21 AM 7:07 PM 87°F 68°F 78°F 93°F (1986) 58°F (1992)
6 7:21 AM 7:06 PM 87°F 68°F 78°F 95°F (1986) 58°F (1979)
7 7:22 AM 7:05 PM 87°F 68°F 77°F 93°F (1962) 58°F (1979)

I'm sure this won't line up correctly, but those days have averaged in the upper 80°'s for the highs and the upper 60°'s for the avg lows and then record highs and lows of the period.

We take an annual trip the 1st week of October and we will be there this year also. I usually pack shorts and tee's but I do throw in a light weight jacket. On some nights it gets slightly cool but we are able to go swimming most nights. Usually the only time it gets a little cool is right after a rain shower so I recommend a light jacket and you will definetly need a rain poncho. It usually come a small 5 minute shower on any given day but 30 minutes later you never knew it rained. Hope you have a wonderful safe trip...... :moped: :woohoo: pixiedust: :tinker:

I'm leaving in 6 days :cool1: & won't be bringing any sweatshirts. I've BTDT too many times. I'm not over packing with unneccesary stuff this time. If we happen to get chilly & need a sweatshirt, well that will just be a good excuse to hit the gift shop ;)

Oct can fool you. It can still be hot and then cool at night.
