I just read on Allears that at Tony's Town Square guest on the DDP are served a dessert sampler? Does anyone know about this? Can we not order off the menu anymore? What is on the dessert sampler? :confused3

It is a plate of 2 cannolis, 1 tiramisu, & 1 amaretto Cheesecake. Besides the children's make-your-own, that's all you can get.

The canollis were ok, as was the tiramisu. The cheesecake was GREAT! And I'm not a cheesecake fan.

How many guests per dessert sampler? WE thought we would give Tony's a try, but now that the menus is changing, I'm not so sure?

I THINK it's 2-3 per sampler but I'm not sure ... it's not intended for 1.

Is this only done for free dining? Frankly, we are paying alot of money for the DDP in November and I expect to be allowed to order any dessert we want.

I think i will try to change our dinner that night. Frankly, I wouldn't be ordering cannoli, cheesecake or tiramisu for dessert so none of these appeal to us.

Unless they have separate menus for free DDP & purchased DDP/OOP, that's all you get, except for the kids' sundae of course!

I think the bookworm wanted to know if this would change back to the way it used to be (order any dessert you want) after free dining is over. The answer is, we don't know. This is the first year we've seen so many changes at one time, but I wouldn't be too hopeful about it. Since this is a DDP only change, not an entire menu change, I may not expect it to go away.

Yes, that is what I meant. :) I am not pleased with the restriction because we are paying alot of money for the plan. I don't think a dessert from the regular menu is too much too ask. It isn't like expecting a lobster tail add on. :confused3

Last year we dined at Tony's using the Free DDP and our waitress told us that the modified menu was going to be changed back to normal after Free dining was over. Maybe this will be the case this year also. I guess time will tell!

I had made 2 ADRs for Tony's as last time it was my DD favorite place to eat. This time she hated her meal (although I loved mine) so we only went once. I loved the dessert tray as I got to sample three different desserts. All were very yummy but the cheesecake was the best!

We had it in August and it was delicious. They also offered the baked ziti for an entree. That is usually on the lunch menu. But we went before 5, maybe that's why we could get it. We really enjoyed our meal!

Because we have ADRs here two days in a row - I decided that it would be a good idea if I ran over to All Ears and checked this out for myself. According to the updated menus on this site, this dessert sampler is given at Dinner, but not at lunch... (at lunch it looks like you can still choose what you want for dessert) does anyone know if that's correct?

Frankly I'll have to change the ADR if it is - I can't imagine how we would divide the plate between the GF and I given that we hate just about everything listed... and who wants to spend a lunch at Disney fighting over who gets the cheesecake? (the only thing either one of us would eat).

I don't know when they updated those menus but we ate LUNCH at Tony's 9-1 & were only able to get the sampler.

We ate there on 10/5 and had our choice of desserts for dinner on the DDP.

Ate there on 10/1 for dinner. Given our choice of the dessert menu.
Sampler was not an option.

Now that the free dining promotion is over, Tony's is back to the normal menu
