hope to see you guys around.
I will most likely on boarding day be wearing a lime green shirt with DIS on front. So if see me in terminal, or rolling around the first day please say hi.
I will also be in a power chair/electric wheelchair. I am going solo except will have Pal Mickey and Minnie, or at least one of them with me <G>
Looking forward to a brief but relaxing time sitting around doing much of nothing LOL

Paula
My first cruise was a Disney cruise and was this past Jan. it was a 7 night western caribbean. i loved it so much that I am now hooked :rotfl:
I had already packed things for the Sept cruise. So I just went and rearranged what was in suitcases. I put some items in one suitcase for June and what I want need then in other that I will need in Sept.
Now to make a couple door signs for the June cruise.
I have too many already for the Sept one and still have 5 months or more to make more :rotfl2:
But will come up with some new ones for June.
You guys have a name we want to call this cruise?
example for our Sept cruise the thread named it "Magical Memory Tour of 07"
For this cruise:
The Wonder's of Disney?
WONDERful cruising?
It's a WONDERful life?
any suggestions?
If we come up with a name, I will make name badges with the cruise name, DIS you can wear in cardholder on lanyard. Or put on a tshirt. or make a door sign with etc.....
Doesn't seem to be many of us Dis'ers on this cruise but we can still make our presence known

I love the idea of a name - WONDERful Cruising gets my vote!!
As I said my DD and I are so excited - she is in college and turns 20 on June 5 - I am overjoyed to be able to share this with her!!
I'm looking forward to many great posts until our cruise!! I've been reading up as much as possible - I love the idea of door signs.

Paula. check the creative designs folder/threads there are some great door signs ppl have made. you can also ask to borrow one of them, and some ppl will make something special for you.
in my signature there is Brady's Pal Mickey Photo Album. in one of the six cruise albums I have pics of our door signs from Jan cruise.
I make very simple ones just using word document drawing features, inserting pics etc... So mine are not as elaborate as those in creative designs but still i enjoy making the simple ones.
like have one for all who is cruising with you.
one for day at Castaway cay. one relating to Pirate night or Nassau etc..
It doesn't have to be much of anything just a sign to say hello we are here and having a great time.
I also be sure to put sign on there showing I am with the DIS boards.
Let's see if anyone else has a suggestion for naming our cruise but if not we can go with WONDERful Cruising
brady961
04-11-2007, 02:41 PM
Ok a quick list of ppl going:
"brady" (Marsha) and Minnie- late seating, room 7631
who else?
Paula also many times ppl from the DIS boards will try to meet on day of boarding to just say Hi. The group pics a place, time usually around 3p since safety drill is at 4p. We say hi, put names with faces, try for group photo, and then off ppl go. Sometimes its just 10-15 mins.
Day of boarding I am sure to be wearing a lime green tshirt with either a DIS logo, or if we pick a name for cruise then my lime green tshirt will have the DIS logo and name of the cruise. Also being in a power chair, carrying a dressed up Pal Mickey, or a dressed up plush Minnie or both sorta easy to spot in the terminal. I am thinking this trip only bringing Minnie and her Princess dresses <G> (this isn't a plush Minnie from WDW already in special outfits. I bought her at Walmart, then find clothes to fit and dress her up. LOL. I know little over board esp for a middle aged woman LOL)
DISNEYFANRI

Paula (DISNEYFANRI) and DD Alyssa - late seating - room 6089
**** the meet sounds great - we'd love it!!
brady961
04-11-2007, 03:19 PM
Ok what if we plan on meeting at 3p for like 15 mins. now to determine where? place sorta will depend on who is interested, adults only, kids and ages etc... Mickey Pool one place so kids can swim. Goofy pool? Promende Lounge?
Place where just remember you have to return to your room to prepare for the 4p safety drill which means get your life jacket.
Ok here is a sample if want to come up with a cruise name and logo (plus idenetify you are part of the DIS boards). This could be used as a door sign, to iron on a tshirt, can make something similar for a name badge that would fit in lanyard cardholder, or etc...
this is ONLY a sample and me playing around. Doesn't mean it has to be used!!!!

I love it!
I possess no knowledge on how to make these...so I say go for it.....or maybe point me in the right direction.
Count me in for the meet - should we wait and see who joins our little group before deciding on a location???
brady961
04-11-2007, 05:40 PM
yeah lets see if anyone else joins before June. The design i can send it via email, all person have to do is print and ironon a tshirt. or tell me they want it as name badge etc... I can change names easily and email to anyone.
again only if someone wants to use it.
Let's see if anyone else jumps in on the name for our cruise. Someone else may have a better name. Which I can change easily on design.
ok time to start packing LOL

LOL I was doing what you are doing and where you are last year preparing for my first cruise in Jan 2007.
When I returned home from the Jan cruise I just put all my clothes I wore and used in one spot in closet and garments bags. So I just have to pull out those clothes to wear again. I will have a couple different tops since it will be warmer in June than was in Jan.
Much of what I took in Jan I just kept in suitcases (accessory type things).
I will have to of course go thru everything and decide what to take, pair down for a three night versus a 7 night.
Then when return from June cruise will do same and be almost ready for Sept 7 night cruise.
Mix and match. I chose khaki capri's and baby blue capri's. All tops matched both pair of capri's, camp shirts also match both color of capri's.
During the day I wore capri's and polo top. Then for dinner wore same capri's just put on a tank top and camp shirt (wearing it like a jacket). Boom I had casual dress for dinner.
This June cruise is 3 nights. First night casual. one night is pirate night. and one is dress night. not formal dress but i guess more than casual. however, wear what is comfortable and what want to wear. I plan to wear my capri's and campshirt as jacket even for dress night. (well most likely).
June I will bring shorts but are also khaki or dark khaki which will match all tops whether that be polo, tshirts etc....
this works for me. mix and match then i take less by not having to have something totally different for each day and night.
I am into comfort more than style LOL.
Bring swimsuit of course. they provide towels so no need to bring beach towels.
I wear AFO's/braces on both legs but since will be in my new power chair with rehab seating I am considering not even wearing/bringing the braces. Just wear khaki crocs, and black disney crocs. oh i bring pair of beach/reef shoes. Once i get changed at CC into dry clothes I throw the beach/reef shoes away. Here they aren't expensive and sure beats having to pack wet/sandy shoes to return home. I shouldn't need any other shoes, just two pair of crocs and beach shoes. But of course i do very very limited walking, a few steps in the room is about it.
good luck. but if you are anything like me, preparing, shopping for your first cruise is as much fun as going on the cruise. I went wild when i booked and wanted everything LOL.
Have fun shopping and planning. doing so just adds to the excitement of getting there <G>
DISNEYFANRI
04-11-2007, 10:15 PM
I really like your mix and match idea- so far I have 2 skirt outfits for dinner and shorts for day wear - will probably wear white capris on the plane. For shoes I have 1 pair of dressy sandals - the rest may just be flip-flops - still debating on water shoes.
I told my DD that I'm doing my shopping now so that when she is home from school it can be all about her!!
How are the games - etc onboard??? She really wants to play bingo and trivia.
brady961
04-11-2007, 10:50 PM
I didn't play any of the games on board <G> I heard a lot about bingo and ppl enjoying that. Really I didn't even visit any of the adult clubs or family clubs after dinner. by the time we were finished with dinner it was around 10:30p. I would go from there to look at pictures taken (Shutters), buy the ones i wanted. Then head to my room. Sit out on verandah quietly watching the stars. Then to bed. LOL.
Looking back to the Jan cruise I didn't do a whole LOL. Went to each show, went to class to learn to draw Mickey Mouse, did some character greetings for pics, shopped, ate, attended Pirate Party on deck, talked to a lot of ppl while just sitting or hanging around.
For me it was perfect vacation, stress free. I didn't or wasn't rushing trying to do everything. I picked each day one or two things I wanted to do, and didn't worry about the rest.
I spent lots of time going around taking pictures of my Pal Mickey LOL.
I had a blast doing much of nothing.
I do hope in June to get to see some of the entertainment in the adult and family clubs. And for sure to this on the Sept cruise since it will be longer.
I get tired very easily and quickly due to health and medical reasons. So for me just hanging out, sitting around, chatting, relaxing was great for me.
I can imagine for many others esp you DD she will want to be as active in as much as possible.
Bring a highlighter (two colors, one for you and one for her) and each night when you get back to your room, review the next day's navigator, highlight what you want to do. and then plan/schedule on doing those things.
I would advise not to go expecting to do everything. Or trying to push too much into one day as then you end up rushing, and here comes the stress <G>
Get up, go on an excursion at Nassau if find something think will enjoy, have dinner, see the shows, check out activities etc.... But don't try rushing around trying to do everything. just my opinion of course.
3 nights isn't that long so choose what you feel must do and see, then if after that have time, find other things.
remember its a vacation, !!!!

Hi good morning!!
Scratch another day off the calendar - we're getting closer! :cool1:

shop
look at blue water
drink something with an umbrella in it
shop some more
*** nothing to strenuous!!

Sounds like a great plan to me.
Just rec'd an email from a friend that may be interested in going with me. So that would be cool to get another Diser plus having a friend there too.
I am so ready LOL.
DISNEYFANRI
04-12-2007, 08:13 PM
Great that your friend may come along!!
I have to go get a copy of my birth certificate - mine does not have a reaised seal....so just in case.....
I'll probably hit Old Navy for flip -flops tomorrow too.
brady961
04-12-2007, 08:18 PM
my passport expires Aug 2007 so I sent off for renewal in Feb. Thinking I had plenty of time to get it back for Sept cruise. Well now of course I need it for the June cruise. They are so backlogged it's taking sometimes 3 months or more to get your passport returned whether its renewal or a new one.
I am hoping I have it for the June Cruise. I have a copy of it but I am sure they won't accept that. They have my passport number already from the Jan cruise.
I have a birth certificate somewhere in a box in the closet but geesh I will have to take everything out to find that one box <G>
Haven't heard back if my friend is going. I know she was sick today and am sure once she got home from work, she's gone to bed. So hope to hear from her tomorrow with a decision.
Flip flops will work great, easy to care for and even easier to pack. they won't take much room at all in a suitcase LOL
DISNEYFANRI
04-12-2007, 09:14 PM
My DD has so many pairs of flip flops from Old Navy - she loves them - and I do agree with you - they would be easy to pack.
?? how the temperatures in the dining rooms?? I hate to be cold....should I bring a nice sweater just in case??
brady961
04-12-2007, 09:27 PM
I don't remember in Jan it being cold. I always take like a windbreaker style jacket (disney one of course LOL) just in case needed.
Maybe check on the cruise forum to see what others think. I am not a good one to ask as I don't get cold that easily and prefer to be cool.
wonder where the others are in posted here they are going.

Good morning - bumping us up and checking the countdown!!
Can't wait for the sunshine - it's 43 degrees and windy here today!!
**** BTW - my DD loved the sign idea - she's even working on some herself.
brady961
04-13-2007, 02:03 PM
Cool hope she can make some on her own or request assistance from the creative designers here no the DIS boards.
The cruise ship doors are metal which means magnets stick.
So many including myself go to Michael's or other craft stores and buy magnet flexible frames. the entire back is a magnet, you just slide the picture behind the clear front. there are several different sizes.
be sure to write your name with marker on back of magnet and room number. plus good idea to have your name somewhere on the actual pictures.
door signs are known to go missing not that I had any problems with that. but if by chance go missing and all sudden see a door with new door signs, can take a peak to see if your name and room number is written on back. and know it was yours.
I have a friend that someone has taken a door sign off her door. she never found who or where but unfort it does happen. But I don't believe that often.
Decorating your door is fun.
my online photo album has pics of our door decorations for Jan cruise. if want to check that out just click on brady's pal mickey photo album.
also check out the thread that ppl share their pics of door decorations. there are some really creative ppl on the DIS boards and show that thru decorating their doors. i am amazed at what and how some ppl come up with such creative ways of doing so.
I will use our cruise name/logo for one of my door signs plus probably iron on a tshirt.
good luck

if you or anyone wants copy send me a private message with email address. I will email to you. Of course no one has to use this one and i won't be offended. I just made it for fun, and will probably use it for one of many door signs. May iron on tshirt.
Although it's simple it still great to look at each day and dream of those few days on the WONDER.

Paula, I saw today at walmart lime green shoe laces (very long ones LOL) you could even get those and tie on bag, lanyard, or anything.
Maybe we can meet in the terminal and I can bring you a DIS card to attach to lanyard or something too. I have them would just need to see you. Or can give to you at dinner even.
Would be so cool though to meet in terminal, board together and have lunch together that first day.
can you tell luvalldisney is excited???????????? LOL

:dance3: Still doing the dance, can't wait....am looking so forward to the cruise!!!! Found a lime green t-shirt at wal-mart today that will work for the cruise....(actually a hanes perfect t ....color was sap green, but close enough to lime green) will put the iron on that Brady made me and that is what I will wear to get on board. Pal has a lime green shirt that Brady made. That's all the lime green I have, but I still have almost 2 months to find stuff. Already have my pirate stuff from another cruise. I took a black t-shirt and printed a pirate picture on it, along with a long skirt and sash and pirate stuff around my neck I am all set.....Pal has his stuff too...he's been dressed as a pirate on 2 other cruises now. pirate: This will be his third as a pirate, he keeps telling me he needs a ship like Jack Sparrow. I told him the best part of the movie is when Jack came ashore on the mast of his sinking ship, and we could make those arrangements for pal, he said he can't get wet. Oh well, I tried!:rotfl2: My darling daughter (28) LOVED the bingo, had a great time even though she did not win, many times she went and played by herself. Remember BINGO is addicting...ask any body who plays it!:confused3 Did not play any trivia games, but did do other things while on board. On our 3 day we did not go into Nassau, we stayed on board and did things, read, visited the rainforest (cost was unlimited visits for 1 day was $15..) really enjoyed it for a few minutes at a time...Had a great cruise!!!!! Am so glad that I am going again. Unless Brady wants to I will not go into Nassau, will stay on board and swim, play bingo, go to the rainforest, sleep, eat, sleep, read, eat, swim, talk, visit different places on the decks, eat, sleep and did I mention eat? Shorts and bathing suit for daytime, skirts and casual dresses for evening.....don't forget to pack bubbles for the sail away party!!!! :yay: Anything else I remember I will post...can't wait!!!:cheer2:
brady961
04-21-2007, 11:21 PM
I don't plan on going into Nassau. My plan was to rest, eat, rest some more, eat some more LOL. So sounds like we are on similar track. I won't do the rainforest so while you are there I will eat more <G>
I took bubbles last time but was so windy didn't work well. Also they were bubbles in a little wine like bottle so very small wand. maybe need bigger wand? Ummm another trip to store for larger container of bubbles with larger wand <G>
I had silly string for the last cruise but didn't use it. Got concerned maybe wasn't allowed. I still have two cans of that but again not sure can be used. I know DCL has paper like streamers but I didn't see silly string being used by anyone. But of course I wasn't at the sail away party but couple minutes.
Thought maybe could use silly string shooting off the deck but then learned could get in "trouble" for throwing anything off the decks. so i would imagine shooting silly string off deck 9 or 10 or even verandah would be a no no.
sure would enjoy though using the silly string but also want to abide by rules and regulations.
So will get better bubbles this for this time.
Dinner I will be casual leisure dress two nights and pirate outfit one night. On "dress" night I still will be wearing a casual leisure dress (sorta like a ankle lenght tshirt with tropical print). My pirate outfit consists of a pirate of the caribbean tshirt I found at kmart last year. red pants that i cut the pant legs shorter and made the ends like stringy. a red sash with white polka dots for sash around waist. my black disney crocs, and a bandana. So nothing fancy, but works for me <G>
Of course Minn will be dressing for dinner nightly.
luvalldisney and I decided instead of us both bring our Pal and Minnie, one would bring Pal, the other bring Minn. So I am bringing Minn. She too has a pirate outfit, and her princess dresses for dinner.
For CC swim/beach wear. During day probably shorts-tshirts, or play skirts and tops.
disneyfanri, as we get closer to travel time, maybe we can make further arrangements to meet in terminal and have lunch together after boarding.
you can email your arrival info if prefer.
luvalldisney and I will arrive around 10a of coures they won't allow ppl to board until 11:30 or later. So we board and go eat LOL. seems eating is a major pattern here <G>
Oh we are going to spend Wed night at hotel near port as easier for us to meet up and of course get to port/terminal by time we want to arrive.
Decided to snorkel at the adult beach of course weather permitting. I devised a way to have crutches with me on two ring floats. I will need the crutches to walk out in water but needed way to have them float so i can play <G> Will see if this works but at least seems like a good plan here on dry ground LOL.
ok guess i should try for some sleep tonight grrrr. although I am exhausted from running around most of today, sleeping doesn't seem to want to come easily.

Hi friends - just checking in....
 Our countdown is amazing!!!!
luvalldisney - thanks for the great info - Alyssa is very excited about bingo - I used to play weekly (before kids) - really enjoyed it - never very successful but had alot of fun.
Eating?? really??? Lets see - our itinerary goes like this - eat...drink coffee....read....people watch....eat....rest....shop....eat!! :lmao:
Having much fun buying new clothes for the trip - may buy the green shirt w/Mickey head from Disney shipping. Still looking for something to wear for Pirate Night - thinking of a long skirt and peasant top. I told DD that once she is home from school we will shop for her.
We will venture out at Nassau only because we never been. Ever been on the glass bottom boat tour? We're thinking about that...
Luvall....tell me more about that RAinforest - I'd love to hear.
Brady - no flight info yet but I will keep you posted. We are flying in day of departure.
More later....and....:yay: we are going on a DISNEY CRUISE!!!!!

:cool1: My DD introduced me to the rainforest at the spa when we went on our 3 day girls getaway cruise in Feb. She had gone on the cruise with friends the year before and came home raving about it. There are numerous spa services, but the rainforest is very relaxing. The cost is small ($15 for a whole day unlimited visits) when we went. You could also book it for the 3 days, Thurs, Fri and Sat. Anyway, the rainforest has a small number of heated stone loungers to really get rid of stress. In the rainforest are also 3 different rooms: dry heat, steam heat and steam with aromoatherapy added. You can move among the rooms as you see fit and numbers allow. They also have 2 showers to cool off: one with regualar water (shapmoo and condin. on the wall ) and one with scented water (again shampoo and condin. available in the shower) My dd and I took the all day in the rainforest for Nassau day. (did not go ashore) and every 1 1/2 hours or so we would visit for about 15 min. After the first visit the STRESS was gone, but I was greedy. If you can tolerate heat, the rainforest is wonderful. We couldn't afford the higher priced massages and things even though they would have been wonderful. Since the space is limited, they may not let you in if there are too many people in the "rainforest" when you want to go, but I found it relaxing and so stress relieving. The rainforest is co-ed and only in the late afternoon (before dinner and after most returned from Nassau) did we find it crowded. By then we were interested in the aromatherapy room and washing our hair in the scented water. For me it was worth the money, and I may go ahead and book it for the entire cruise this time....Especially since only a few minutes makes me really relax, and it too is addicting.
Bingo...don't remember the cost, but it is something like 5-10 dollars a game. They ususally have 3 games during the hour bingo and one that gets the "jackpot". Don't remember how many cards you get for your money, but they had some really nice prizes. Kids can play as long as they are with an adult to accept the prizes, but I know your DD is not a kid. I am not a really good gambler, so bingo was not my thing. I do know that the trivia games also have great prizes, and there is also wine tasting and martini tasting sessions on board (DD has to be 21 to join you) They were fun, we did the wine tasting. Learned a lot!! Had a great time doing the on board stuff and never missed Nassau at all. Now, Castaway Cay was another story. Would not miss that for anything!!!:yay:
Still dancing:dance3: perhaps I will continue to dance until sailaway!!!!!

i just can't wait to meet you both, and have the opportunity to share your excitment for your first Disney cruise. It's like reliving my excitement for my first one plus my excitement for this second one.
No wonder I am awake at 1:45a as I keep thinking ok what to take to wear, what should I take for Minnie to wear (Luvalldisney will bring Pal Mickey that way she and I both aren't bring two pals and two minnie's).
I finally got out of bed so could write down notes which is about only way for me to get brain to stop rolling around this and that. ok maybe now I can go get some sleep tonight/this morning <G>

i totally understanding pinning down a favorite character. i have several LOL.
I found at Walmart scrub tops with Disney characters: Chip/Dale, Mickey/Minnie, Bambi, Eeyore, Pooh and Tinkerbell. I plan on wearing one of these scrubs with capri's/shorts during the day, inbetween swimsuits LOL
check disneyshopping.com for apparel. also can make some polo shirts or tshirts using iron on transfers. you make the design of whatever/whoever, print and iron on.
also check on ebay. i see lots of disney apparel on there. sizes vary but you may find something.
google disney apparal, or disney clothing who knows what you may find.
good luck. but even without Disney apparel you'll be fine and have a blast.
Last cruise I didn't have disney tops so i just wore solid or tropical polo tops and khaki or sky blue capris. whatever i take to wear it has to mix/match with everything that i am taking <G>

bumping us up too.
can you believe its really not that far away now?
Minn got her official Pirate outfit today, and so excited to wear it for Pirate night on the cruise. Pal already has his and wore it in Jan. So Pal is a little jealous he didn't get new one but hey Minn didn't have one at all LOL.
My beach bag sitting on floor in bedroom is overflowing with stuff I keep throwing in it to take on the cruise. its a 3 night cruise but I bet I end up with as many suitcases allowed to haul Pal, Minn and my stuff. More theirs then mine though LOL.
at ya later.

04-30-2007, 07:06 PM
Where do you get the clothes for Mickey and Minn?? At Build a Bear????
I have to say my pile of new clothes is growing also!! That's not a bad thing!!
brady961
04-30-2007, 07:34 PM
For Pal just finding something somewhere. Build A bear clothes are way too big. although I do have a few outfits for him from there. I do a lot of pinning to make fit LOL. Found an online doll clothes store that has tshirts that fit him and Minn. Also found on there a suit that fits him ok.
Other times would find a bear or doll in store. would buy that use the clothes for Pal and throw or give away the doll/bear.
Found My Generation dolls that had boyish looking clothes and would buy just the outfits. too long for him but would fold pant legs under.
Michael's sweaters fit him ok too.
So for Pal its just hunt and find, pin when needed <G>
Minn has been easier. I got her Ariel, Cindy, Belle princess dresses from disney shopping online. The dolls were on sale and the dresses fit Minn perfert.
at target they have small build a bear outfits that fit Minn ok. WHen I first got Pal they had more clothes for boys so bought a few that fit him ok. like socceer, safari outfit. and accessories. Now I only see clothes for girls.
I bought starbucks bears off ebay just for the outfit to fit Pal or Minn.
Minn found out thru another Diser on the Pal thread that Dora the explorer life quard set fit Pal. So I went shopping for all the Dora outfits I could find. They are perfect for Minn. So far she has Dora's bedtime, party dress, ballerina, lifequard, surf girl, gardener, and on the way cowgirl, and something else.
Oh also where I get the tshirts they have knit shorts that fit both great too.
Just rec'd today another order of shorts and t's from there. I will iron on a design on t's.
so for Pal it's harder to find and usually are too big so need pinning, or i used hem tape that you iron on.
Minn has been much easier esp now that I know Dora clothes fit her and the princess dresses from disney dolls are great.
Shoes: for both baby shoes fit any size from 6 months to size 2 depending on how made, soft shoe, hard shoe etc.....
They really have more shoes than I do LOL.
I did buy at build a bear this weekend a beach chair and beach umbrella LOL. I had coupon so I only paid a couple dollars for both. Will be bringing these on June cruise. Great pic opportunity at CC <G>
ok better stop me now as I can talk about Pal and Minn a Loooonnnnnnggggg time LOL.
Just love these little kids. Guess I am reliving my childhood LOL.
another day closer HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Minn has more clothes than Pal does, but he is trying to catch up to her. He will probably be changing at least 3 times a day. He will need his own suitcase and the only spare one I have is a purple tinker bell...he was not PLEASED when I told him that!!! So now he is sulking over getting his own suitcase. :sad2: I told him his stuff could go into mine, but he does not want that!!! So if you see a stuffed mouse on the street pan handling you know it is because he wants his own suitcase and I wouldn't buy one for him (mean mommy) and told him to GET A JOB!!!!:rotfl2: Ordered Pal some new pants for the cruise (did not tell him!) they are being shipped out tomorrow!!! He will get excited about that( I hope!)
Still no docs, but I am sure they are on their way!!!!!!:dance3: still dancing until I get on the cruise!!!!
Send some of that rain down here....we are in drought conditions and on water restrictions. Our back up water supply (Lake Okeechobee ) is down to record low levels. The last major drought we had was broken with a cat 5 hurricane...DON"T WANT THAT!!!! so ship down some of the wet stuff....we need it now and not in June!
brady961
05-02-2007, 12:01 PM
luvalldisney. I bought Minn a lime green suitcase at Target for 9.99. It like a pilot case. they have them in gray, black and a shade of blue. I couldn't find a case with Minnie on it except at WDW and sorry I love Minn but not to buy a over 40 close to 50 dollar kids size wheeled suitcase.
Pal as a red one just like Minn's but it did come with another set I bought myself before the Jan cruise. So each has their own suitcase. But then I have a kids size much smaller than pilot case, that has Mickey Mouse on it that we will be using for when traveling like this month to WDW.
I doubt I will use it for the June cruise as not sure will hold all of Minn's stuff <G>
Will probably be taking my 26in, and either the 24in duffle, or Minn's pilot case just to hold all her stuff and mine. However, I admit she is taking more then me when comes to accessories, clothes etc...
I believe though she is well outfitted for the cruise, day and night.
Now Pal although did ok during the Jan cruise, I think he will need a few things for the Sept cruise. Both will go with me then. Can you imagine how many suitcases I will need for Pal, Minn and myself????? LOL
Wondering if I can get by with using a backpack for my carry-on stuff, but also hooked onto my chair the beach bag to carry snorkel, mask, floats, etc... (just things that will be used at CC) I know they say one carry-on and two checked.
I will start practicing packing for the June cruise after our May trip to WDW-POP Century. That may give me a better idea of how I am going to pack for Sept taking both kids.
For a 3 night cruise sure seems like I am taking the kitchen sink. But remember that group that went for a 3 hour cruise and was stranded on an island for YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So imo i better take all i can think will need just in case LOL
We have two major wild fires in our area and doesn't seem any hope of them getting mother nature to help put them out anytime soon. We were getting the smoke from the fire in Georgia for last few days to point we had advisors for ppl with resp problems to stay indoors. Now we have two fires in central Florida as well. We need rain but not during May 18-20. <G>

Wonder what I would be if didn't use personal title? Ummmm
Ok check out Target for the 9.99 ones. Walmart may have some too not sure. If you do see the ones at Target (lime green, pink, black, gray, and some shade of blue) think if we could do an iron on them?
Also at Target they have a princess set of like three pieces not remember cost. Also had boyish sets of three maybe "Cars".
What do you mean share?????????????? You know good and well they both have too much to share unless you get a 26 in or bigger suitcase LOL.
Get them both the pilot case one for 9.99. <G>

so have you started practicing packing yet? LOL. I won't until after May trip to POP at WDW. But I know I will practice trying out several different ways, luggage bags, etc.... And then make final decision the night before leave for the cruise.
Luvalldisney and I will meet over near the port, spend night at a nearby hotel on Wed night. Then up early and to port by 10a <G>
So Tues night I will probably make final decision of what, how, etc.. to pack. And believe me it won't be an easy task for me, as I want things just a certain way <G>

Well if buying new clothes and keeping then in the bages is considered packing then my answer would be yes.

No flight info - I think it's available 30 days out - I'll keep you posted.

I would consider leaving new clothes buying for cruise in bag part of packing LOL.
I really do have a beach bag sitting on the floor that I keep throwing items in there which I consider part of preparing/packing.
If I remember correctly in Jan, my friend that flew down got her flight info a couple weeks prior to our departure date. Maybe a month but pretty sure not sooner than that.

page 3, well we can't have that !!!!!
glad you bumped us up.
things seem to have been so busy this past week. this weekend spent friday night with another Diser here solo. We had dinner at Cape May then went to Epcot. Today we went to AK. I even got her to ride Everest. She hasn't been on a roller coaster. She liked it but doubt will ever do it again <G> Still had a blast today, lots of laughs, and she helped place the kids for photo ops. Even took pics of them for herself LOL.
Ok it's back to work tomorrow. Van company comes to get my power chair. Takes it to Tampa to install lock down system. Returns MY van and power chair by Thurs, hopefully Wed. I must say although the loaner van doesn't have as many bells and whistles mine has, its been such a blessing using it with the travel chair and this weekend with power chair.
Love my new ramp and sidewalk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't tried yet but will tomorrow, I actually believe I can use my travel chair from the car to the front door. With sidewalk I know will work, and I believe it will go up/down the new ramp.
I will be glad though to finally get my van, and the power chair back. Just using it this weekend has been great, a blessing, etc... Although I have jammed my feet between the chair and a wall/door or something several times LOL. Surprised haven't broken a toe or bone in foot <G> I did ask on another board for ppl that use power chairs how they get use to distinguishing distance between footplate/feet and like the wall, door etc.. Seems just takes practice. Lets just hope during my practice until I get this part down, no broken toes or bones in foot LOL.
OOO I bought a Minnie back scratcher today to use to pull up footplate as I need to do this before going up van ramp. Figured it will serve at least two purposes, pulling footplate up, scratching back, so why not? LOL.
Paula, is Alyssa getting more excited about the cruise too?

The kids are packed and ready to go LOL.
We are getting so close to cruise time. As soon as i get thru this weekend, then I will begin packing officially for the cruise <G> At least have Minn's stuff packed, and all my stuff but clothing. Ok I am an early packer LOL
Plus i need this month to practice packing, which bags to use, how best to pack to get everything in, what to carry on (not much this time), etc....
I will go thru each piece of luggage I have, trying each out, until i figure out just the ones that will work the best. I am so nutty LOL

I am thinking of trying to find a couple pair of shorts other than jean shorts. Which is about all I have. But yet not totally necessary as I can wear the jean shorts and I do have a pair of khaki. I think I just want a reason to go shopping LOL.
FYI I will be heading to WDW-POP in Friday morning thru Sunday night. I won't have computer access from Friday morning until Sun night or possible Mon.

We arrive at MCO at 11:22am. Unfortunately not a direct flight - we leave Providence at 6:30am and have an hour layover in North Carolina.
No matter - we'll be on VACA!!!!!!
Upon arrival we'll most likely just make a quick "potty" stop and of sourse a STartbucks stop then we'll be off to the bus lines so I'm guessing we should be at the port by 1:00 - 1:30.
Cannot wait!!!!!!

i bet it does seem more real now with flight info in hand.
With your time of arrival we will miss each other in the terminal, but that is ok.
They normally allow you to your room around 1:30p, and safety drill is around 4p.
I am assuming they will still have lunch being served buffet style.
Do you think you would be up to at least meeting just to say hi and introduce to each other around 3p? really just to introduce and say hi. then all of us off to do whatever we need to prepare for the safety drill, and of course get the vacation going.
If we can't meet to introduce at 3p then for sure will be seeing you at dinner :goodvibes
It seems so close yet so far still <G>
Oh, Minn is packed. Well except to put in her dinner dress for the first night in my carry on. She has her pirate outfit, and princess dresses for dinner. Daytime just shorts and t-shirts, and of course swimwear for CC. And her surf board, beach chair and umbrella which she will share with Pal Mick (her cousin).
Amazing for a three night cruise and the size/amount of luggage I will need :rotfl2:
I will need to find someway to pack better, less, etc... for Sept cruise, since it's a 7 night and both Pal and Minn will join me then. I guess they will get the big luggage and I get the carry on. :rotfl2:
Minn is dressed to board already and has about as much patience as i do, and just thinks someone should sprinkle pixie dust so it would be time to go cruising NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG well we can't have that now can we?????
I have been busy and away from the computer a few days.
We are now so close I can feel the slight rocking of the ship, taste the wonderful food, and feel the water <G>
Minn is packed. I am almost at least I have my clothes set aside to put into suitcase. Of course still have figured out which luggage to bring LOL. No matter what i bring it will be a lot, much of which is for Minn, or for snorkeling/swimwear/beachwear for CC. <G>
I am so excited and so ready for this weekend getaway. I know I for one really need this break and getaway!!!!

there is a good chance they will show the new POC movie on our cruise. they often will show movies on the ships that haven't even hit the theaters. would be way cool if they show it. I believe on our Jan cruise they were showing the second POC. sorry i don't remember specific names of each one LOL.
POC the first one was on tv last night. i can't help but laugh at jack sparrow each time no matter how many times i see it. of course i have only seen it a few times, once at luvalldisney's on DVD. a couple times on TV including last night.
maybe one of us can find a current navigator online to see what movies they are showing. i will see what i can find.

Paula are you and Alyssa still in room 6089? El and I will be in 7631. If you are still in same room at least you don't have but one side of another room. not sure what is on back or other side, but at least not someone's room. and you should have easy access to aft or mid ship elevators, about the same distance either way.

Yes we are still in that room - should be intersting how we find our way around - haha.
We are getting sooooo excited!! Alyssa's birthday is Tuesday - I want to take her out clothes shopping for the trip. Of course she thinks the trip is her present but I've bought her a few things already to be wrapped in Disney Princess paper. Ok - I can hardly believe I have a 20 yr old!!!!!!
I'm going to try and catch that show again - I love watching and saying to my self...yup - I'm gonna be there!!
Still deciding what to wear on first day.
brady961
06-03-2007, 12:21 PM
Ok I can tell what to wear for boarding and first day of the cruise...... CLOTHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
Luvalldisney and I will be in lime green shirts and capri's/pants. At least I believe she is wearing this too. My tshirt will have our logo WONDERful Cruising. My capri's aren't really lime green more apple but it will blend.
I went thru repacking again last night <G> Got all my meds packed, including those PRN ones that may need. Still have to pack shampoo/condition and hair gel. Yeah I know Disney provides shampoo/conditioner so I may think about not bringing my own and use what they provide. Minn is packed. I think about all I have left to pack are my clothes.
Plus then decorating my power chair, and the things I will need in a mesh backpack that stays on the chair no matter where I go.
Oh and need to go to the bank for some cash (tips). Oh wait my nails, I need to get my nails done too. <G>
Camera, extra memory cards, batteries, sunscreen, snorkel/mask, float to hold crutches while in water, Minn's/Pal's beach chair and umbrella, their sleeping bags and tents (each have to have own tent, ya know they can't sleep in same one LOL), and of course some odd and ends items are packed.
So the duffle bag is backed. The backpack to use as carry on is almost packed just need dinner outfit for me in there. Oh the door signs are packed in carryon backpack. Last suitcase basically needs my clothes and swimwear.
I printed off the contract last night and signed my portion. Luvalldisney (El) will sign her portion when we meet Wed night before the cruise.
I can't believe it's really almost here. And of course wishing it was more like 10 nights though LOL. Yet after this cruise it will be only a short time before another cruise for 7 nights. And El has decided to go with me on that one too!!!! WOO HOO.
Alyssa will be 20!!!! WOW. Tell her happy birthday and I wish her a special day.

clothes.....:confused3 thanks I would have never thought of that - :lmao:
It will probably be white capris - I'll have to send out pics from Alyssa's birthday so that you know what we look like - hahaha.
The only other decision I've made is what suitcase I'm bringing - which really isn't too difficult since I only have 1.....:lmao: We'll both have rolling suitcases and I think I'll pack my LL Bean duffle to use as a carry-on on the way home.
brady961
06-03-2007, 05:40 PM
oh you too are funny LOL
definitely always need one more piece to take things home in. just remember your limit for flying home.
I found the suitcases that expand are good for on return trips. go with them not expanded, return with the expanded.
If you have Kmart or even a Walmart nearby they sell a three piece set of one 26in expandable wheeled upright, 21 in wheeled upright, and 22 duffle bag (not wheeled) for like 30-40 bucks. So for flying send 26 expanded and duffle bag thru checked, carry on 21 in.
what are you guys doing on Alyssa's birthday? Something quiet at home? More elaborate? Special?
18 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boy I better get busy in getting to bank, nails done, repack at least a few more times LOL, and figure out what and how to get stuff on my power chair.

Alyssa has decided that she wants a "cupcake extravaganza" for her birthday so I'll be getting recipes organized tonite. She will probably have a few friends over - the same ones that are here just about every weekend - I took the night off so it should be fun.
I bought her a few little things - peridot earrings in 10k gold setting - 2 pairs of flip flops - a tote bag and a very bradley coin purse - if I get out alone I'm sure that I'll buy more - haha.
We decided this weekend that instead of buying her a car that will last her till graduation I may sell her mine - 2003 Escape - for what I have left in payments - she's very happy about that - at least she will have a dependable car and not have to start off with school loans and a car payment. Hard to believe she has 2 years of college done already - her grades came in this week - all 4 A- and 1 A. We're very proud of her.
I am the expert of packing I think after packing light due to camping for so many years - hahaha. At least we don't have to bring 2 sets of everything - still debating on a hair dryer.
18 days - I still can't believe that we are going!!!

Sooooo - I guess there are only going to be, what, 10 or 12 of us on this cruise? Hi, ya all, from Northwest PA. First time cruisers here - :cool1: . There will be four of us. Myself, my wife of 34 years, our 17 year old son and his 18 year old buddy. We will be cruising with you and then jumping off the boat to head over to the Villas of Wilderness Lodge for 5 nights and then fly down to Miami for a day at Seaquarium (long story, don't ask) before heading back home. We will be flying to Orlando on the 20th, stay at the airport hotel and plan to be at the DCL terminal around 11:00.
I noticed someone was inquring about POTC 3. I read somewhere (and I can not seem to find it again) (and I know I did not dream it - well, I don't think I did), but I am recalling that it was in a very recent trip report - that POTC 3 is and WILL be showing. I remember reading that thread because it struck me funny that someone posted "Honey, we need to schedule a cruise because they are showing POTC 3 for free.":rotfl2:
Anyway - just thought I would check-in. I own a CPA practice - and after working for 110 hours per week for the first four and a-half months of the year, I am in desperate need for some R & R. Or at least some diversion. :goodvibes
Ron
PS - being first timers to DCL (but several times to WDW) we know absolutely nothing about cruising. Well, maybe not nothing, I have read the cruise Passporter cover to cover; and the Passporter Cruise Clues e-book; and Birnbaums Disney Cruise book; and anything and everything else I can get my hands on.

Welcome Ron and crew. Way cool there will be a few more DISer's on this cruise. With your group, Paula, Alyssa, Luvalldisney and myself looks to be around 8 of us. The initial poster of this thread had to cancel. And another person that had posted having 13 or so coming we haven't heard from in long time. So not sure if that group is still going.
Just think it just a little over two weeks we will be cruising!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I spoke with DCL today regarding my Sept 07 cruise, and he said that all the 4 night cruises for the summer are totally booked. thankfully the 3 nights must not have been cause they announced Florida resident rates last week WOO HOO. sorry <G>
Ron we are planning on initially meeting at 3p at the Promenade Lounge. Just to take a few minutes to say hi, put faces with names, etc... Then off to do whatever you want before the safety drill.
I will be in a power chair that has a disney seat cover on back of seat cushion <G> plus wearing Lime Green with our logo for this cruise (something I made up and ironed on tshirt). Also be carrying a Plush Minnie mouse dressed in a lime green tshirt <G>. Will be hard to miss me or luvalldisney as both of us will be in lime green, her with a Pal Mickey in lime green too.
Hope you and your crew can stop by at 3p to say hello and we can meet each other.
I am so excited.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

06-04-2007, 06:31 PM
"Excited" seems like such a calm word relative to how we are all feeling right now.
Well - maybe not my son, yet. He is very much into theatre. He attends a performing arts high school and this school year he has been Sonny LaTierea (sp) in Grease, Bustopher Jones and Gus in Cats, and right now he is in the middle of the performances as Bill and Helper #1 in the Pajama Game. Grease and Cats were done by the school and were "Broadway quality" performances in a brand new state of the art 730 seat theatre that was standing room only for virtually all of the performances. The Pajama Game is not quite of that caliber because it is a Community Theatre Play. But none the less, he puts his whole efforts into his performances. So, yeah, he is excited about the cruise, but not nearly as excited as he will be when the play is over June 17th. And he does not get out of school until June 15th.
Paula, that is cool that your daughter is studying accounting. I have been certified since 1984 (this is actually my second career) and received my Master of Taxation degree in 1985 and have had my own practice since 1996.
Marsha, I will run the 3 o'clock meeting past the "crew". If it is up to me, we will be there - but, alas, it is not just up to me - and that is how it should be. But I will let you know.
We will be in room 6108 and have the late dinner seating.
If I understand the itinerary correctly, we are going to eat, sleep, drink coffee, eat, read, drink coffee, eat, sleep, eat, take in the show, drink coffee, eat, sleep. Do I have that about right? :yay: :goodvibes :cool1:
Rebecca has been out most of the day getting travelers checks and cash and she has spent an awful long time at Walmart. Actually, I think she has been there three times today.:)
Ron - and, yes, waiting is not one of my stronger characteristics. Can we leave today? Can we? Please?

Hey - I just did some quick math and (assuming a 5:00 pm sail-away) we are exactly 390 hours away from sailing. And only 385 hours away from boarding - if we board at noon. And only 360 hours away from our flight. And only 356 1/2 hours away from leaving the house. Woo Hoo!!!!!!!

Ron you have the right schedule for the cruise, eat, drink, sleep, movie, eat, eat, and eat some more.
WOW a math wizard in our bunch. way cool. to me math is 2 plus 2 equals 22 LOL.
Luvalldisney and I plan to be in the terminal around 10a. They won't open to board until around 11:30p or noon. They send you to lunch buffet upon boarding, then are allowed to your room around 1:30p. Our meet at 3p if you and wife at least can make it, but would love to meet you son and his friend too. Of course they may enjoy meeting Alyssa too <G>
Safety drill is around 4p or so, then to the sail away party. then out to sea!!!!!
Two weeks from Thursday we sail. Two weeks from Wed I leave to head over to a hotel near port to meet luvalldisney. Since she drives up from south Florida, and I am in Orlando we decided easier to meet near port, spend night over there so can get to terminal by 10a!!!!!!!!
I am so ready for the weekend getaway of total relaxation and stress free time.
Hey how far is Greenville PA from Philly? My corp office is in Philly, and I will be up there for a week in July.
see ya soon.

Marsha - I eat, sleep and drink numbers. That's just the way it is in this industry. And no, I am not a math wizard. Take my ten-key away and I am lost. :)
I don't know about the movie, but definitely the show(s). With Eric being so much into performing arts, we try to take in as much as we can.
I, too, was hoping to be at the terminal by 10:00, but my ground tranport called and said that picking us up at 9:00 (at the airport hotel) would put us at the terminal too early. So he said he would pick us up at 10:00, which will get us there around 11:00 I guess. I defer to his first hand knowledge.
Greenville from Philly? About as far apart as can be and still be in the same state. :) Philly is in the Southeastern corner and Greenville is in the Northwestern corner - 7 miles from the Ohio border.
And just like that, we are an hour and a-half closer to sailing. :)

Woo hoo!!!! Got our luggage tags yesterday. :jumping1:
I guess I was surprised, though, at how little info we received. I kept hearing that you will get your cruise documents in the mail about two weeks before the cruise and all we really got was the luggage tags and what appears to be boarding passes. I guess since we arranged our own flights and ground transportation, and checked-in online, there really isn't anything else I should have received. Is that correct? Oh yeah, there WAS one other thing, there is a Bahamian immigration form that we each need to fill out.
:hourglass is slip sliding away to cruise time.

sorta depends on when you booked. I didn't receive anything for June cruise in way of package of "stuff". But I rec'd a large package of info for the Sept cruise. I am assuming its because when booked the June it was already at point had to pay in full. not sure.
i did receive my luggage tags and "check list" for June. But it was weird getting this large package of info for Sept before i even rec'd luggage taggs for Sept.
There is one doc in luggage tags must be completed for going into Bahamas; but other than that I haven't rec'd before any other documents to complete. Again I guess cause I do it all online.

That being said - some of her gifts were a hola-hoop - super soakers - Disney princess pencils - and of course a HUGE Disney princess balloon.

WOW sounds like a great birthday. And 20 cupcakes with candles???? WOW
Documents not sure will receive much. But since you haven't rec'd your luggage tags and bahama's thingie we must complete and have ready at check in, I would call DCL today. I know its two week and still time but I am OCD LOL so I would call them to make sure they haven't sent them and their lost, or when to expect the tags and bahama's thingie.
If you complete everything online check in, and print the contract out, sign, date, bahama's thingie, passport or two photo ID"S is what needed at check-in.
Be sure to print the online contract/agreement, sign and date it. Alyssa will or should have to sign that as well being an adult. But you can print just one and both sign same one.

if want to see pics so me check out my online photo album. several albums including weekend May 18-20, or cruise albums have few pics of me.
May 18 album i am in my power chair. cruise albums i managed to get help to stand for most pics. This trip though probably most pics will be of me in power chair. but thats ok too. My power chair is named Caddy as ppl call it my cadillac LOL.
we are so close and its hard to handle the excitement. Next week thankfully I will be busy out of town for work so time will pass. And I won't be home except the weekend to feel I need to practice packing again LOL.
The week of, Mon, Tues and possibly Wed I will out of town for work so those days should pass quickly too.
Then Wed night head to Residence Inn near port to stay the night. Luvalldisney will meet me there Wed night.

I know Paula will arrive around 1:30p I believe that is correct.

Paula - thank you for excluding myself and Eric from the "we're all just girls" comment. :goodvibes But I think Tom (Eric's buddy that we are bringing along) is a guy too. :) Now admittedly, I do not know Tom very well. (He went to the same school Eric transferred to in the fall - that is how Eric knows him. And since Eric is an only child, I can not remember going too many places at all without having someone else's child with us.) Anyway, I have never met a girl named Tom (I did hear about a guy named Sue, though (think Johnny Cash)). So there will be at least 3 of us guys on board. :rotfl:
Marsha - we are leaving the airport hotel at 10:00 with a limosine (luxury van) service. You probably know better than I how long the trip to the ship should take. The guy from the limo company told me that we should be at the terminal about 11:00. So yeah, I am sure we can link up then.
Marsha and Paula, I appreciate the opportunity to see what you look like with your on-line picture albums, but alas, you will have to wait to see me and Rebecca in person because it is clear that I am not nearly as technical savvy as you two are. :confused3
But if you want to see Eric click on this link (or copy and paste it in your browser) and then click on biographies:

Today I am really sick - I've had a dry cough most of this week - woke up yesterday - cough worse - no voice- not much better today - every breath is an effort - sipping tea and hoping to reach my doctor today.
OK - I have a question.....since you are our expert Marsha.....
can you explain "customs" for me??? How do we go about this??
Hope everyone has a good day.

So sorry you are sick, and hope feel better really really soon.
Customs.................. well when we return home at Port we go thru customs before leaving ship/port. But in Jan I just showed my passport and really didn't even slow down following the porter with my luggage.
So I am probably not best person to ask LOL.
When get off at a port you will be required to show your room key to reboard. Nassau I have no idea what is done there as I haven't been there.
All I know is at the ports we went to, I showed my room key and picture ID to reboard the ship. Day leaving showed my passport and never slowed down going thru customs as I was following the porter with my luggage.
Oh the night before you will complete a form if declaring anthing. there is an amount or certain items you must declare. I had nothing to declare so again just completed the form with brief info, handed it to customs on way out, etc....

Hey guys!!!!!!!!!!!!SCHOOL IS OUT!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1: Now, I get to play. The end of the school year is so stressful, then I had a trip to Orlando with my parents right away, now I am home (at least in and out for a while) and can concentrate on packing. Brady has me beat as to packing and unpacking...I am such a slob about packing...it goes in the suitcase and stays there until I wear it, use it, or ignore it. When I get home it comes out of suitcase and gets put away. I will be the lime green lollipop at the port (lime green shirt and lime green denim capri's and disney crocks) :rotfl2: You should be able to spot Brady and I easily. Looking so forward to this trip!:yay:
Customs is really simple....if you are an american, you only fill out the Bahama papers and turn them in at the port. Any other nationality and you need passports and an early wake up call to meet the immagration people. Getting off at all ports (even Castaway Cay) requires your key to the world card and a picture id. (Under 18 requires parents signature or parents present to get off) When you arrive back at Port Canaveral be sure and secure a porter inside the customs building they will not only take ALL of your luggage for you, but get you through customs quickly. On the 2 cruises we went on only those who where wheeling their own luggage seemed to have to spend any of the time with customs...otherwise it was a quick show ids or passports and run after the porter with the luggage.
If you spend most of your money on the ship and very little at the port you won't need to declare much and it should be quick. The cruise line does seem to suck money out of you without your realizing it, that is why it is so much fun...you are not aware of the money oozing out of your pockets!:cheer2:
CAN"T WAIT!!!what is the count down now????
Can't wait to see the pirate movies aboard. In Feb my DD and I took a short 3 day and watched POTC 1 on the big screen, it was so cool seeing Jack bigger than life!!!!!!!
My DD had tickets for POTC 3 and would not let me have one because she said that I could see the movie on board the ship. She is not too happy that Brady and I are going without her, but alas, she could not get off work!
OH BOY!!!!10 days before the "cruise" vacation starts......:dance3:

Paula - I am sorry you are sick. Did you get ahold of the doctor? Get well soon!
Luvalldisney - weclome back. School? You attend or teach? Eric does not get out until this Friday. The school he attends is a performing arts school joined with a cyber school for the academics. In PA, the cyber / charter schools have an extended school year. Even though he started before labor day, he does not finish until June 15th.
OK - (assuming a 5:00 pm sail-away) we are now exactly 243 hours away from sailing. And only 238 hours away from boarding - if we board at noon. And only 213 hours away from our flight. And only 209 and a-half hours away from leaving the house. Let's see 209 divided by 24 - less than 9 days! OMG - why did I just have this wave of anxiety wash over me. I better get busy. Only 9 more days and I still have all of this work work to do. Holy crap!!!!

On the other hand - vacationitis (or is it cruiseitis) (I believe they have the same symtoms) set in a few days back and I am finding it harder and harder to stay focused. I better not let the boss find out! Oh yeah, I am the boss! I guess that means I better get to work!

Hi Cruisers...the verdict is in - bronchitis - still no voice - they gave me an inahler and today and tomorrow out of work. Hopefully it does not get worse we still have cruise shopping to do.
I'm being silent in the livingroom recliner - Alyssa let me use her laptop.

I am so sorry you are sick, but since you still have 10 days, you should be able to get better. (mmmmm. lets see, a week of sick days needed to get better before your vacation...sounds good to me!:rolleyes1 )
Still, I hope you do get better soon. It is no fun being sick! (especially with shopping still to do!! )
To answer your question about school....I teach Chemistry in high school. We started at the beginning of August so going until the first part of June was a LONG time.:woohoo: Because of new state legislation, we start back 2 weeks later this year, but don't get paid until Sept, so money wise it will be a long summer. 3 full months without a pay check. I hope I saved enough to get me through...:dance3: Have strict orders to minimize spending on the cruise:rolleyes1 or I could end up not eating during August!!!:scared:
This time next week we should be on the final loads of laundry and packing for the last time. (Brady will be packing and unpacking until Thursday morning....trying out all her new bags and totes seeing which ones will work best!:woohoo: )
Here's to the final week, just think NEXT week is our cruise!:cheer2:

Good Morning.
My coughing is better- so I guess I'm feeling a bit better - still really tired and sore from coughing though. Have a meeting this morning but I'll be conferencing in.
Spent yesterday afternoon watching Disney on the travel channel and also read the Passporter again - this time with hilighter in hand - getting serious now. I'm getting a bit nervous that I won't get everything done that I wanted - I think today will be list making day.
Oh and Alyssa decided that she wants to do a stingray encounter - I think we may be doing that as Castaway Cay - the passporter description sounds a bit better plus a portion of the fee goes towards Disney Wildlife Preservation.
Today: lists
Tomorrow : set out clothes and decide if I need anything else.
Can't wait to meet everyone!!

Yes, Paula, we are all hoping you are getting better. The most important thing you can do for bronchitis is rest and just take it easy. Rebecca had a pretty serious bout of that dreadful thing a couple years back and, not to be the bearer of bad news but I believe in full disclosure, once you have it you become much more susceptible to getting it again. So be careful. This cruise, although you would prefer feeling alot better, may be just what the doctor ordered. Hey - there ya go, get the doc to write a prescription for the cruise and then you can write it off on your tax return. Hhhhhmmmm - I think, cough, that I am, cough, starting to not feel so well, cough, cough. :)
(Take that Uncle Sam.)
Well - Rebecca started to practice packing Monday. I know this because when it was time to go to bed, the bed was nowhere to be found. :confused3
So, Marsha, you will still be packing and unpacking all the way up to Thursday morning? You go girl!
And luvalldisney (if that your real name?), I almost started feeling sorry for you when you said you had to work from early August to early June. Then it struck me, I have to work from early July to mid June. :) :) Where is the equity in that? :confused3 Really, though, I have the highest respect for teachers, most especially in this day and age. God bless you!!! You deserve a break!
One week from right now, we (my group) will be on our way to the airport. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Wwwwooooo Hhhhoooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paula...glad you are feeling a tad better!!! I hope that you get better every day so on cruise day you are ready to go!!!:thumbsup2 Sorry you have to work when you are not feeling well, it often happens to us because subs are very rare on Monday's and Friday's. If you get sick on one of those days you often end up working anyway.
My real name is not Luvalldisney, it is Ellouise, but I am a disney addict. There is a 12 step program available, but you must first admit there is a problem, and I have not admitted it yet. Give me any reason to go to Disney World and I will usually take it. I live about 3 1/2 hours away, and I have done day trips!!! :rotfl2: So far this summer, I spent a week with my parents at a time share near Disney, I need to go up to a Girl Scout recording session in Daytona on Saturday and will spend the day at Disney on Friday, next weeks cruise and then from July 1-9 will be at Ft Wilderness cabins for a family reunion. Have not planned out the rest of July yet!!!!I just need my "Disney" fix on a regular basis. When I retire I intend on moving closer to my Disney fix and probably have to take a job as a cast member because retirement is 50% of salary. Of course....every day at Disney would not necessarily be a bad thing!
While Marsha keeps packing and unpacking, I pack once. Yes, I have things draped all over my apt, but not packed yet. Part of the reason I only pack once is suitcase filling and unfilling makes my cat very nervous. She has also been known to climb in and make herself comfortable among the clothes, so I try to only drive her crazy on one day. (then I leave making her very upset)
She was an abandonded kitty who spent hurricane Wilma in a cardboard box on the steps of the pet store. Storms only make her mildly upset, but packing and leaving is hard on her. During summer I am in and out, and with the packing, unpacking and storms she remains nervous a lot!
Can't wait until next week!!!!! Looking forward to the cruise and the deck chairs on deck 4.......

Wow, Ellouise, you really, REALLY know how to bring the envy out. I do not share the addiction you have - only because I can't - logistics being what it is... But believe me, if I could...... But then I do not do too bad. I have a picture of a young Walt standing in a doorway with the silhouette of Mickey on the wall beside him. I have a 3 foot tall stuffed Mickey and a 18" stuffed Minnie, and an 20" rosin/wooden Mickey on a Mickey pedestal and Mickey / Minnie bookends, a Mickey ears snow glove and various other Disney memorabilia just far too numerous to mention. And that is just what I have in my office. :)
I have a DVC vanity plate on my van. And I won't even go into what we have at the house.
So my hope is, Eric is very much into the performing arts. If I can get him to secure work at Disney World, I will just have to move to that area. Tee hee!

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!In one week we will be on board (or getting ready to board) on our WONDER ful cruise!!:dance3: I can't wait..... still gathering things together and have not packed yet. Can't give the cat too much pressure, as I am leaving for a weekend tomorrow and still haven't fully unpacked from last week!!!:rotfl2:
Know about the disney stuff over taking a house. I lost the roof of my house during Wilma so I lost a tremendous amount of stuff. I did manage to save a few precious things. My apt bedroom has my ear hat collection on the walls and that makes it very Disney (of course there is also the Disney picture frames, some disney collectibles and other odds and ends around!) My daughter just bought a 3 br townhouse and was trying to decide how to put her Disney things around without making it look like a store at Disney world! She decided most of her lithographs and such will go in the stair well going upstairs and she will get to admire them every day! It is hard to decorate when you want the mouse visible but not over powering!!!:lmao:
Pal Mickey finally got his passport, since his birth certificate was just a receipt from the store, it was hard!! His passport does not have any of the fancy electronics in it that they are doing now, so it did not take as long. I think Brady's Minn has had hers for a while. Well, you know kids they sometimes don't pay attention to warnings about how long something is going to take!! But, no problems, he is ready to go now! Still not really packed, I told him no more than 10 outfits for a 3 day cruise and he is still having a hard time deciding. Of course it does not help when Brady gives you a new pair of sandals and you have to take them and can't decide if you really want to leave your Nemo ones behind!!! Pal Mickey's wardrobe is more extensive than mine (and probably takes up more room). :rotfl2:
WOW!!WAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only 1 more week!!!!:yay:

:cool1: I week to go - I'd better get well quickly. Yesterday added pink eye to the list of ailments- and in my good eye too!! Sheesh. Consoled myself by ordering a few more things from JC Penney.
You guys definitely have me beat - I am sorry to admit the only disney decorations I have are coffee mugs. When cleaning out boxes in the basement we did find some older memoribilia from WDW - circular tray and (shockingly) a cigar - never smoked - in a cylinder case labeled Walt Disney World. I do also have old guide books and Alyssa has guide to WDW in french.
I'm still debating on what to wear day #1 - did decide however that Friday morning we're getting room service breakfast!!!:thumbsup2
El...I know what you mean about stressing out the animals when you leave - last for the firs ttime we left our dog home alone for a weekend (sister inlaw cfame to put her on her run - etc) - she was so stressed out for the longest time even if I left to justgo to the grocery store was difficult for her. When we all went away this Memorial Day weekend we debated putting her in the kennel but decided to leave her home - since she has the cat for company now - again sister in law came to feed them - etc and they were fine together.
Going to get some rest before work tonite.....

Ok I practiced packing again tonight LOL. I got to come home a day early from traveling for work WOO HOO. So what did I do when I got home this afternoon?
Well first Pal tried on his new sandals. Minn put on her new shoes to wear with her outfit to board the Wonder <G>
I tried laying down to rest but my mind kept racing do I have this, maybe if I packed this way it would work better, etc.... So after about 30 min laying down, up and adam.
Pulled out the already packed 30 inch rolling duffle bag and tried to see if all would fit in a 26 in suitcase. NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pulled out all the clothes (for me) and hung them on rod where I normally hang clothes to dry. Then practiced packing my clothes in a 21 inch suitcase. HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They all fit.
So a backpack will be carry on, my two checked bags: 21 inch suitcase and 30 inch duffle bag <G>
However, on my power chair will also be a bag carrying my power chair charger, a mesh backpack with rain ponchos, and other misc items.
Because of health issue i.e. heat intolerance, I was hoping to be able to pack my collapsible cooler, cooling vest and the four therma cooling paks in the duffle bag. Still may work, but if not then also on power chair will be the cooler with vest and paks inside.
I learned from last cruise (Jan this year) that all my decorations, arm bags etc.. on the power chair will be removed going thru security (they took off everything attached like my plush disney character key chains, etc..) Decided not to decorate the chair, or even have the arm bags on the chair until I get into the terminal after security. What a shame though, security won't get to see my chair all decked out with disney decorations <G>
Of course we have a few more days for me to practicing packing, trying out different ways and different style luggage, yes Ron I will probably be packing at least until Wed afternoon. I leave Wed afternoon to meet Ellouise at Cocoa where we will stay the night at a hotel near the port. Unless Ellouise starts unpacking my stuff, rearranging my stuff then I should be packed and ready by Wed afternoon <G> So if any packing is done Wed night or Thurs morning it will be Ellouise's fault not mine LOL.
This time next week good chance we will be either still eating dinner, watching a live show, movie, or having fun in one of the clubs, or maybe someother activity they have going on that night.
No matter what though as least we will be on the cruise WOO HOO!!!!!!!
I have several things to get done those last minute things like getting tip money, nails done, get spare set of crutches out of storage, and of course possibly repacking LOL.
Paula really sending you best wishes and prayers in a speedy and full recovery from bronchitis and pink eye. Keep us posted this weekend how you are doing.
Ron and Paula and who else in your party intereseted, don't forget to meet us at 3p in Promanade Lounge to say hi, and get the DIS cruisers going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to be away so long, gang. Yesterday morning about 8:15 my internet and email (at the office) started oscillating on and off. Did this for about 3 minutes and then completely shut down. So not being a big enough firm to afford a computer geek to keep things running, I had to put on a different hat. So after about a half hour I isolated the problem. The server and workstations were all fucntioning properly and the cable company verified that the modem was working properly. So, for some unexplained reason, my firewall had shut down. The only reason that we can come up with is someone tried to hack in. Not in this neighborhood pal. I do not have the BEST firewall - but awfully darn close. Anyway, spent the next five hours on the phone with 3 different technical support departments and finally got the firewall back up and running. Then because of the lost productivity, I spent the rest of the day (until late last night) playing catch up. Came into work this morning for a couple of hours and then it was off to Eric's school (an hour and a half drive) for a "parent appreciation" luncheon. Halfway there, I put on the brakes in my van, and the pedal went all the way to the floor. Fortunately, I got the van stopped without incident. So I will be working late again tonight, but thought I would just check-in.
Paula - I will take my problems over bronchitis and pink eye anytime. Get better soon. How long does pink eye remain contagious? We might just have to wave to you from a distance. :) :rotfl:
Marsha - I may have to spend some time tomorrow practicing packing the Prius. If I can not get the van fixed by Wednesday, we will be squeezing 4 adult size people and all of our luggage into the Prius for the trip to the airport. The Prius has an amazingly lot of room for the size of car, but this might just fill up all that space and then some.
OK - here it is: (assuming a 5:00 pm sail-away) we are now exactly 143 hours away from sailing. And only 138 hours away from boarding - if we board at noon. And only 113 hours away from our flight. And only 109 and a-half hours away from leaving the house. Let's see 109 divided by 24 - less than 5 days! :jumping1: :dancer: ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo pluto: :goofy:

Marsha is here <G> Worked today, then headed to Epcot this afternoon. Just got home. Love the fireworks at Epcot.
I am sure to do something regarding packing tomorrow LOL. I have been planning on using a backpack as my carry-on (red one). But I also have a WDW backpack that I am now want to see if can fit everything into that one instead. So guess what I will be doing tomorrow? LOL.
Duffle bag is packed and ready. Carryon still have to make sure I have all the toiletries needed, documents, passport, dinner outfit for first night (in case for some strange reason luggage doesn't get to room in time to change for dinner). Oh and I bought a new sorta lime green sports bag this week. Now have to decide if want to take this to carry camera and few dollars for tips, or the camera case I used on the Jan cruise. In Jan I tied the camera case using it's straps to the arm of the power chair. Will need to see if the sports bag will do that too, will camera fit easily enough to get in/out in a hurry, etc...
So at least two decisions to make this weekend: 1. use red backpack or WDW one. 2. use lime green sports bag or camera case
You guys I am so OCD in planning, preparing i really need a treatment plan LOL.
Can't believe this time next week we will probably be seing a movie, oh wait it will be pirate night, so at the pirate party. Fireworks I think are usually around 10:30 or so. Way cool.

Ron - I can't believe that I have not been out of the house in almost a week. I hope Rebecca is getting alot done.

Paula - I do hope your eyes and cough clear up soon - and that you will be 100% by Thursday AM.
Question for you. That little ship on your time tracker is getting perilously close to the edge. What happens when it gets to the end of that scene? And please don't tell me that I have lived under a misconception all these years that the earth is round and not flat. Hhhhmmmm - now there may be something to this. It seems that every crusier I have ever talked with has actually been a different person when they returned from the cruise. Maybe the ship does fall off the edge - and all of these previous cruisers are really just aliens pretending to be the people they replaced. Are you listening Marsha and Ellouise? I think I have it figured out.:scared1:
Oh well - back to work. We ARE 5 hours closer to cruise time than we were last time I posted. Let me know if you need help with the math. :)

Decided to get myself out of this house and do some fathers day shopping - FIL is gone for the weekend so we won't see them- think I'll buy my dad a CD - hope I don't scare the shopkeepers - haha.
Already have gifts for my DH - 2 pairs of shorts and a New England Patriots t-shirt that has the dates of the Super Bowl wins - bought that from the Pro-shop.
*** Ron - not sure if I had introduced the rest of my family to you - I do have a DH - been married 27 years this July - I also have a son - he was supposed to graduate from high school this year but didn't - typical example of very smart kid - always hated school - wrong crowd - etc - he is the sourse of much stress and heartache for me. Thankfully he is now working a fulltime job with a surveying company - hopefully things will get better. Alyssa - my cruising partner turned 20 on June 5th - she is going into her Junior year at the University of Rhode Island - majoring in accounting - I know I told you that (small world) - I;m sure she'll enjoy meeting you. My DH works as a site designer for a civil engineering firm and I work for a 24hr company that provides repairs and maintenance for retail stores nationwide - I am on the "after-hours staff" - I work from home. Also dog and a kitten. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!!
This is my first cruise - I've been to WDW several times - first time was in 1973 for my parents 25th anniversary (stayed at the Contemporary for $60/night:scared1: ) - 1974 with high school band (marched in Main Street parade) - 1977 with college friends - 1981 with husband - 2000 with kids (AllStar sports) - 2002 with kids and another family (All Star Music) - 2005 girls only with my college roomate and best friend (Wilderness Lodge).

Paula I hope you are feeling better....sleep as much as possible before Thursday because once you get on the cruise you will want to do everything and there is only about a 3 hour window that does not seem to have anything going on (about 3 am to 6 am) so only sleep then!!!!!!!!!! :coffee: Ron it looks like your dreaded 3 problems have already occurred so all will be well for the cruise, just think that even if there is a computer problem :surfweb: while you are gone, you can't do a thing about it....3 whole days without work related problems!!!!!!!:woohoo: As for Brady, yea,I am sure she is repacking again, (can't find a smiley face that is packing a suitcase) but it gives her something to do between trips to WDW (oh yea, she has to also wedge work in there somewhere!)....At least she is the one repacking not Minn!!! As for me the cat has taken up residence in the suitcase, all my stuff is out and spread all over the bedroom and not packed yet. Just the cat is packed (oh yea, she can't go...guess I will have to unpack her). Pal Mickey has thrown his clothes all over the room again, still can't confine himself to 10 outfits.:rotfl2: I too am a camper, but live by the Girl Scout motto, "BE PREPARED!" Have one whole duffle bag filled with things that I may need on the cruise, but will problably not really use!!! It is just the scout in me I guess :yay: Can't wait...I leave in only 2 days (today does not count and the day I leave does not count!) so much to do and so little time!!!!!!!!!!!CAN'T WAIT:dance3: Looking forward to meeting everyone, but mostly looking for that first glance at the Wonder, WOW, it is so awesome to come over the bridge and see her just sitting there waiting for you.:cheer2:
DISNEY WONDER HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!:sail: PIXIE DUST TO EVERYONE THAT YOU WILL HAVE A SAFE TRIP, FEEL BETTER, GET ALL THE PROBLEMS AT WORK IRONED OUT AND HAVE A GREAT CRUISE!!!:tinker:

Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! OH MY GOSH! The week is here!!!!:cool1:
(assuming a 5:00 pm sail-away) we are now exactly 81 hours away from sailing. And only 76 hours away from boarding - if we board at noon. And only 51 hours away from our flight. And only 47 hours (leaving time was adjusted - I guess because we are all so anxious) away from leaving the house. Let's see 47 divided by 24 - less than 2 days! WWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOO HHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Paula - Rebecca and I were married July 28th, 1973 (she's a couple months older than me and had to buy my beer for me when we first got married because I wasn't old enough :) ) Rebecca was a Registered Nurse for several years and then went back to school to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. She was a practicing CRNA for twenty years and was among the best of the best at her trade. But as our society became more and more litigious the stress (in an already extremely stressful environment) became overwhelming and she just walked away. Now she helps me in my practice doing alot of the administration stuff - on a part-time basis. We adopted Eric when he was 5 months old (I like to say he had all of the bugs worked out by then - for example, we already knew he had a milk allergy - so there was no trial and error experimenting :) . That was on August 25th 1990. And as much as I love Eric and would give my very life for him, I will never be able to show him the love that his birth mother did when she handed him to us. (That whole story is just a phenomenal story.) And we attended Disney World for the first time in 1993. And the rest, as they say, is history! We were hooked!:goodvibes The remaining residents of our home are Maggie (my German shepherd that Rebecca got me for Christmas a year and a half ago - she was suppose to be my office dog, but Rebecca fell in love with her and I am not allowed to bring Maggie to the office anymore), Nikki (a peekapoo (or something like that) that we inherited when Rebecca's aunt passed away a few years ago), Micky (a Shizu) and Misty (the remaining half of a pair of sister Blue Tip Himalayan/Siemeze). Oh yeah, and whoever is sleeping on the air mattress on any given night (Eric's friends).
Thank you, Paula, for the Happy Father's Day wish. It was a good day. My own father passed away a year and a-half ago (my Mom passed on at a very early age in 1983 - she was 58), but my step-father-in-law, Eric, Rebecca and I went to breakfast at Burger King, took in 9 holes of golf and then went back to the house and grilled up some big fat rib-eyes and some sis kabob. Rebecca came along on the golf outing to drive the cart. (Her Dad passed away several years ago and her Mom passed on two years ago.) So, yeah, it was a good day of fun and fellowship. (And yeah, I let those guys beat me at the golf game :) )
Ellouise, thanks for the thoughts, but at the risk of angering the "problems come in 3's" gods, let me just state that when you are in business for yourself, they come in bunches and they come continuously. But that is just the way it is. The van goes in today to be fixed, hopefully. And as to 3 whole days without work-related problems? Eleven days sounds alot more appealing to me. We are leaving early on the 20th and not returning until the wee, wee hours of July 1st. Rebecca has given the neighbors and her sister and her step-dad and my employees a copy of our itinerary - with the caveat that it darn well better be a true emergency if they would need to track us down. And they all know that I am as serious as a heart attack about that.
Marsha - how's the packing coming? I was thinking about this packing thing and it occurred to me that Rebecca is actually packing for three separate trips: the cruise, obviously; and that will be followed by 5 nights at Disney World; which will be followed by a night in Miami. Bless her heart!
You all have a GREAT DAY! And we will see you soon! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :dance3:

WOW ONLY ONE MORE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't count today or the day we leave:lmao: Can you believe it is almost here and then this thread will be obsolete.................................Wow, I can't wait :dance3:
Hope all is going well and Paula you are feeling better. I also hope Alyssa has finished her shopping, because time BEFORE the cruise is running out. (Of course there is always the shopping ON the cruise!!:rolleyes1 ) Ron, I know that you have 20 days without work, but it is easier for some one to get hold of you at WDW than on the cruise, which is why I said 3 whole days without work problems. But, I know that vacations are precious and you deserve 20 days without the thought of work or its problems! :woohoo: Marsha, I hope that your repacking is coming along well, and the weather gods are good to us on this cruise! :cheer2:
I am so excited  can't wait!SEE EVERYONE SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:cool1: Good morning all.
It's safe to say that I now have "lists of lists" - hahahahahhahaha.
Todays list:
1. Wake up Alyssa (hahaha - that's a task in itself)
2. Hair cuts and color - wash away the gray for me - gotta look purty for the pics - haha
3. Shop for Alyssa
4. Iron clothes
5. Fill out forms
6. Do misc shopping.....*** should I buy a "bigger memory stick? and will I need a disposable underwater camera??***
Ron - sounds like you all had a wonderful day yesterday - I hope you get a chance to tell Alyssa about your "menagerie" - she is a confirmed pet lover!! She started volunteering at our local animal shelter when she was 14 - they hired her formally at 15 and she worked there until last year - the only reason that she left was because she was not allowed more than 12-15 hours/week.
El..(hope you don't mind me calling you that) - is that cat still in the suitcase?? I think that's where mine will be today for sure....
Speaking of said cat - husband reports that he got up this morning to a shattered glass on the kitchen floor - yuck - right near the dogs bowls too - I'm guessing some little missy was bored last night!!
Marsha - STEP AWAY FROM THE SUITCASES....no more re-packing for you - Minn....be good!!!!!
I guess you can tell that I'm feeling better and sooooo very excited!!!!!!
Marsha - what night are we having Alyssa's birthday cake?????

Ellouise - you tease me. Alas, it is not 20 days, but a meager 11 days. But I will take it! WOO HOO!!! As to getting ahold of me when I am on vacation? They know better. It does not matter if I am at the house or on the ship, when I am on vacation, only a true emergency is allowed to disturb me. Case in point of how strongly I protect my "private time". I carry a cell phone with me all the time. And I know alot of people do. And I know alot of people are slave to their cell phones. But me? Eleven select people have my cell phone number - 7 family members and 4 employees and zero clients. When my cell phone rings, I know it has to be one of those 11 people and it must be important, or they would not call me on my cell - they know better. And to prevent my cell phone number from falling into the "wrong hands", I will only ever call just those 11 people on my cell. Nobody else is getting that number without by express permission. I have learned and obversed, that one can be a slave to their business and let the business run their life. Or one can run the business's life. It is a choice. And I choose the latter.
So what happens to this thread in 3 days? You said it becomes obsolete. Does it get deleted? If it gets deleted maybe I better hurry up and go back and print all of the posts so I have a record of the before, during and after of us all. popcorn::

Hi all
It's almost here really it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I believe I set it up to have her cake on the first night. I hope I am right <G>
Ok so I did repack a little LOL. The duffle bag is done. The carry on is sorta done. The clothes haven't been ironed so can't pack those until after doing that. But I did pack the clothes to make sure will fit in the suitcase. They fit so now to iron out some wrinkles then throw in suitcase. I realize by the time I unpack on the ship the wrinkles will have returned.
The advantage of being in a power chair, ppl almost expect you to have wrinkles from twisting, turning,, etc.. in the chair <G> I have gotten to point I am not as concerned about wrinkles anymore. Unless of course the entire garment is so wrinkle I look like just jumped out of bed and worn that all night <G>
Went to bank today to get cash for tips. Got nails done today.
Tomorrow and/or Wed will begin spot ironing (I just iron the wrinkles that can be seen from the front LOL) doesn't matter if wrinkled in back as no one can see my back since sitting in the power chair LOL.
Minn is ready and has her passport already around her neck. She is already dressed in her lime green generic DCL tshirt, jean shirt and shoes. Bow in her hair, so guess she is ready. Oh have her princess dress in carry on for dinner so she can change in case luggage doesn't arrive in time to do so. I too will have in carry on a campshirt and tank top to throw on with apple green capri's for dinner the first night.
Let's see: cash for tips, passport, documents, credit card, just need to add driver's license in there and ready to go.
Everything that will be used to decorate the power chair are in mesh backpack to be added to chair once in terminal and thru security. In Jan they took off everything from the chair including the plush character key chains hanging on chair. I guess those little plush key chains could have been storing something not suppose to have LOL. So this time security just won't get to see the chair decorated. Easier to not put things on until get thru and in terminal. Took too much time to get each key chain off, take everything out of armrest bags, etc.....
I reminded my boss today that I need to leave around 3p on Wed, would be home on Sunday and leave for Tallahassee (work) on Monday.
Umm guess I will be doing laundry on Sunday after I get home..... double yuck!!!!!
Can't wait to meet you all and hope we have great weather for entire cruise.

WOW!!!!!HURRAH!!!!!!!!!ALMOST HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:sail: No the thread does not go away, just we usually stop adding to it. No need to do so, it is just that after the cruise it could be a let down. However, I can't wait :woohoo: It will be so much fun, no matter what the weather as long as our 3 day cruise does not end up like Gilligan we should be fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl: MMMM looking forward to the Mickey bars:mickeybar from room service, the relaxing on deck 4:rolleyes1 :donald: :mickeyjum the characters around the ship and just doing whatever I can fit in the 3 day schedule :yay:
Paula...it is so great that you are feeling better!!!!!!!!! MMMM maybe you could take the cruise off on your taxes, ya know, extended rest? Have to talk to an accountant about that:rotfl2: Hope that Alyssa is all finished some of her necessary shopping!!! The cat came out of the suitcase only because of really bad electrical storms. When they are over, she is trying to get back in the suitcase :confused3 But, she did push Pal Mickey out onto the floor, I guess she is trying to tell me if she can't go he shouldn't either. :rotfl: But little does she know that he snuck back into the suitcase last night!!!!
Ron....understand about the cell phone. While it is really my only means of communication and all the world has the number, if I do not recognize it or it is not in my address book it does not get answered. If it is that important they will leave a message and I will retrive it when I get a chance. :badpc: But, you are right your vacation is your time and for your sanity and your family sanity it needs to be off limits to your business:cheer2: So, no matter how many days, just think it will be a great time without work worries!!!!!!!!!!!:dance3:
wow........it is almost here!!!! I can hear the "when you wish upon a star" horn in my imagination party:

You guys I am going nuts with excitement that all I can think about is Thurs isn't coming soon enough <G>
I think maybe i should put my DCL luggage tugs on my suitcases then I would have to stop changing what cases to bring LOL.
My poor power chair is going to look like a luggage cart upon arrival LOL. My carry-on backpack, a mesh backpack with my chair decorations, a soft cooler carrying my cooling vest therma paks frozen and ready to use. Thankfully the chair weighs over 300 lbs or with all this stuff hanging off the back, i would be tipping backwards LOL.
I keep looking at my clothes that I have hanging on a rod in the hall. Wanting to just pack them thinking if I did then that has to mean time to leave for the ship <G>
grrrrr I have to get thru work tomorrow and Wed til 3p. Unfort too I don't have much to get done for work not even busy work that makes time pass faster.
May I suggest in your just in case needed meds some imodium, pepto bismol, tums or like, bandaids, neosporin, and bug repellant. good chance won't need of these but in case you do, the item will cost a fortune on the ship <G>
I am taking a lightweight windbreaker like jacket. Doubt will be needed but I remember Walt theater and sometimes at dinner it was a bit chilly at times.
ok i need some valuim to get me thru the next two days LOL.

Boarding passes secured. Arrive at airport 1.5 hours before flight. I guess that leaves a little more time for breakfast. The barking pets are on their way to the kennel as I type and the meowing pet will have the run of the house. Oh yeah, she has the run of the house all the time - so nothing new or different there. Van is being repaired and promised for completion today. (Diagnosis - rear brakes frozen and front brakes in bad shape. Price - more than I wanted to pay the day before vacation, but such is life. Interesting how those things can happen "by surprise" when PA has a mandated annual inspection and checking and measuring the brakes is one of the pass/no pass check points and the last inspection was less than six months ago.)
Rebecca said as she dropped me off at the office this morning, "I'm getting excited now!" Uh huh!!!
24 hours from now we will be in the air on our way to Orlando MCO. :yay: :yay: :yay:
I will disconnect (from the internet) some time around 9:00 tonight and will not reconnect until sometime next month.

Ron did you get vehicle repaired or having to use Prius? sp? (edited: We must have been posting as same time. glad to hear van will be ready to use)
I practiced putting mesh backpack, red backpack, charger pack, and cooler with therma cool paks on back of power chair. It will work. Of course cuts down on my turning radius but won't be like this too long.
Tonight I will rearrange back of van so when get to port, everything is back of van goes out with porters. Anything else like carry ons will stay near where I lock down my chair. That way porters don't take something out we need to carry on.
Then I will put everything in the van except suitcase with clothes. That way I am not loading the car tomorrow afternoon in the heat and humidy. and possible rain.
Last thing to put in car before leaving for hotel will be clothes suitcase, my neck wallet and camera, and of course ME:rotfl2: :thumbsup2
I need to get to Walgreens or store for a thingie you put on sunglasses to hold them on. Taking extra pair sunglasses but mainly to use on CC.
Well, can we all hold our excitement until Thurs morning?
Paula I can't imagine working to 11p, getting up at 3a then heading to airport. Can you take a brief nap on the plane? Or too excited to even do that?

Not a problem here. I have prepared a 2 page memo for the staff with little reminders like "don't burn the place down" and things like that - and I will go over what needs to be done while I am gone with each individual. But beyond that, I am not egotistical enough to think that this place can not function without me. Has always been my philosophy to work hard when it is time to work and play hard when it is time to play. Kinda like it says in Ecclesiastes - to every thing, there is a season. There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.:thumbsup2

Marsha and El - Marsha just mentioned sunglasses and it occurred to me that I do not have sunglasses. I seem to do OK at WDW and I pilot my airplane in these parts without them, is the Carribean sun that much different than central Florida sun (especially with the water reflection) that I would need sunglasses, do you think? I do wear prescription glasses (suppose to all the time) but driving and flying are about the only time I use them. (But I have noticed the words on the TV are getting harder and harder to read - but I digress.) So what do you think? This :cool1: Or this :)

Cat back into the rolling duffle bag. I don't understand how it could be comfortable to sleep on goggles and swim fins, but I guess if you are a cat, you sleep anywhere!!!!:lmao:
Paula, get some sleep if you can. You don't want to waste time on the cruise sleeping (naps are okay, just no long term sleep there is too much to do!) :cutie:
Ron, I would suggest sun glasses. While I wear sun glasses all the time (the latest ones have bifocals....grrrrrrrrrrrrr) I noticed in Feb (on my last cruise) that the sun on Castaway Cay was brutal, and I am from Florida!!!!!:confused3 The glasses don't have to be expensive and if you are wearing glasses get the little ones that clip on the outside, but you would probably be more comfortable with the glasses.:cool1: (I even have swim goggles with darkend lenses) Buring the retinas at Castaway Cay would ruin the rest of your vacation!!!:3dglasses

Yippeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am officially on vacation now. And no, El, I did not look back. But that was probably because I was running too fast to dodge the huge rain drops and lightening. Got the van back at 5:10, took it out for a test drive and looks like all systems are go! Rebecca and Eric just took off for the mall to get Eric some swimming trunks. None of his old ones fit and he doesn't want to swim in his shorts like he does in our pool in the backyard. Can't blame him.
So just over 12 hours before we pull out of the drive tomorrow. I am home alone now. Well, me and the cat. And it is pretty eirie when you are used to 3 dogs vying for your attention.

whew - what a day......the girl is 5'7" and a size 5 - she would look good in a paper sack....we must have gone to 10 stores and tried on in excess of 50 outfits - dresses - etc .....came home with 2 button down shirts (long sleeved!) from Gap and 1 pair of shorts.....:confused3 :sad2:
But - you know me - I went with the flow - told her to go thru her clothes - I go up to check on her - she tell me what she has laid out - says I'm wearing this shirt (I don't think the word blouse is in her vocabulary) with my skinny black pants - I say which ones - she says the ones I wore when we went to see Wicket - I say you can't wear those - even though they are black they are still jeans - you have to dress up.....cue the water works.....
Fast forward 20 minutes - she comes down stairs in jeans and a t-shirt saying she's going back out shopping.....hmmm....going alone that means she pays - hahaha.
Safe to say my girl is a bit stressed.

Can we say EXCITED even more now?????????????????????
Back of van has been rearranged so only checked bags go there. Carryon's go in middle of van with chair.
Ron I suggest getting a pair of cheap sunglasses like at Walgreens or Walmart to bring just in case. I always wear sunglasses as the sun gives me a headache without. And yes i am in Florida LOL.
Well still have touched iron clothes or packed. But they are still hanging there ready to be done. Will do this in the morning. Figured didn't want to pack them too soon just to have more wrinkles in them when unpacked then I did before touch ironing.
Still need to go get thingie to hold sunglasses on (what are those things called, having a Dory moment. Well I have Dory moments all day everyday LOL).
OK we got some rain this afternoon but I slept thru it. Guess needed a nap.
this time tomorrow night El and I will be fussing to see who is going to carry what when we get to the terminal LOL.

Didn't want you guys to think that we fell off the face of the earth. The heat has neen attrocious this week and we don't have A/C. I was down and out with migranes yesterday.
I wanted to thank you for the great company - as you know the trip was precipitated by many stresses in my life and it was good to just have enjoyable conversation that was "all about us".
I love the Shutters pics!!

:cool1: We had such a great time on our cruise, it is hard to believe that a week has passed. It was wonderful meeting Paula and Alyssa and Ron and his family. It is hard to get back into the swing of normal life. I do hope the weather has been better for you Paula and Alyssa, and Ron, I hope you and your family had a great time at WDW and good flights home. We need to plan a "reunion" cruise, and maybe I will practice my "water walking" before we go again. :lmao: (at least maybe I won't end up in a hole next time!)
It was super cruise, keep in touch, and I wish you all well. Pal is still packed, he thinks if he maintains his suitcase as it is then he will get back on board faster....oh well!!!!:confused3

Hey ya all! We made it home, albeit 12 hours later than planned. We left WDW at 5:30 pm on the 29th and flew to Fort Lauderdale. Our plane was an hour late leaving because of a weight and balance and center of gravity issue. (Very important and very critical stuff in the flying world. If those things are not right, the wings will stall and the plane will either nose dive, tail dive, spin or come apart. I am OK with them taking as long as they need to get THAT equation right.) So we rented a van after we landed and drove to the Miami Raddison and got off the elevator in the lobby and realized we were behind about 50 people to check in and there were only two check in clerks. My patience ran out when we finally got to the front of the line and they took the person behind us (after we had waited in line for about an hour) before they took us for check-in. Ron was tired and Ron was not in the mood to be humored. And Ron let them know. So, I doubt that they will welcome me back into that Raddison anytime soon. :) Finally got to the room about 11:30 pm. Anyway, we drove over to the Miami Seaquarium the next morning so the boys could swim with the dolphins. We all had a great, great time and it was well worth the frustration getting there. Well, we got back to the Fort Lauderdale airport in time to find out that our flight was delayed sufficiently enough to miss our connection in Orlando so we re-routed to Baltimore arriving about 11:00 pm. Spent the night there (with no luggage because it had already been checked in at Fort Lauderdale and was on its way to Pittsburgh) and caught an 8:10 am flight to Pittsburgh which put us in Pittsburgh at 9:15 am. Went to locate the luggage and found out that it was not going to arrive until 11:40. So we finally got it all together and headed home about 12:20 Sunday afternoon and were home by 2:00. That was a very interesting ending to an absolutely wonderful vacation. Got into the office early Monday morning to find out that two of my employees had quit while I was gone. Such is the life of a small business person. So that is why I have not been able to get on here before now to say "hey".
It was a true delight to meet you all and by all means, count us in for the reunion.
I will post more later about our trip, but I just wanted to take a couple of minutes now to say just how much we enjoyed the cruise and being there with people we already knew made it that much more specatular. Paula and Alyssa, I am sorry we did not meet until the last minute, literally. I did not realize the boat was going to be that big that we would not bump into each other more often - and for sure, the time just flew by. Who does not agree that the cruise was way too short? Marsha and Ellouise, what can I say. Thank you for taking the time to share your smiles and words of advise. It was a true pleasure meeting and getting to know you both. Say "hi" to the kids. And Marsha, let us know about the swimming that you are going to do. Don't give up on that goal and don't put it off.
Anyway, like I said, I will post much more about our trip later. Please share with us the things that you all did.
Happy 4th of July!!!

For sure, for sure Paula. We were in 6108 and I knew where your room was because of the great door decorations you had. :) I knocked everytime I walked by your door but it never opened. I guess you guys were just too busy cruising - or napping. I did not stop and knock, just knocked on the way by. So if you did open the door to a knock and there was nobody there, well - hhmmm - I don't know who it was. :)

THERE WAS NO NAPPING.....HAHAHA....
I'll blame it on Alyssa - she must have been either laughing or singing everytime you passed by so I didn't hear you!!
Cruise was too short?? I can't agree more! Already made note to self - longer cruise - with balcony - next time.....!!
