We are taking my mom and grandmother to FW (cabins) as a Christmas present in mid-December and am looking forward to decorating the cabin.
But, I need some ideas; especially for outside decorations. All I have thought of for now is taking a strand of lights to wrap around the deck (with extension cord) and maybe a mini tree for inside. We will be arriving before them and want them to be wowed when they drive up. We will be flying in so size is somewhat of an issue.
So what has everyone done or seen (cabins and camp sites alike)? I don't want to get there and think "aww, I wish I would have thought of that".
Also, couple of ?..
Where are the outside outlets? In the signpost?
Does FW have any issues with leaving the Christmas lights on pretty much all the time, when no one is there?

A lot of the time you will see the big inflatable "snowglobes" outside of sites and cabins. You also have 2 windows that face the front, with small ledges inside so you can put something in each one indoors. I saw a cabin last year with that fake pre-lighted pine garland around the front of the roof, and it looked perfect on the cabin. They also had a full-sized artificial tree on the deck near the picnic table. :thumbsup2
As for out-door outlets, I know there is one right on the front of the cabin (meant for the golf-carts), and I THINK there is one on the deck as well.
Just remember with the country feel to the log cabins, you can really go all-out with the rustic decorations!
Quick edit, if you want to see what the FW decorations that Disney puts up look like, you can go HERE (http://www.laughingplace.com/Info-ID-WDW-Holiday2000-FtWilderness01.asp) . They are a great place to get ideas for the cabins :santa:

We bring white rope lights (and the little metal pins to hold them in place) to line our driveway and campsite. You won't have a campsite but the bonus of having the lights lining your driveway is easily being able to pick out your cabin from a distance as you drive along the loop. :) We also have those grid lights that you can throw over bushes. I love these! It makes it so easy to decorate in a very small amount of time. Just make sure you bring enough extension cords.

We have a timer on all our outdoor lights that comes on at dusk and stays on for however many hours you set it for. I usually have them stay on until midnight so our well-lit campsite welcomes us home from the parks each night. Any later than that and I would be afraid the lights might disturb our neighbors.
