It seems like forever since they've been working on the US pre-clearance at the Halifax airport.

I was at the airport last week and asked the "security" workers when I was on my way down to baggage claim when pre-clearance would be ready and they said "You're standing by it!". They said that it is pretty much done and is due to be ready in October!

Yes, and the airport website says the opening date is October 4! Here's the link... it's about the 3rd notice down from the top...

Too bad most flights connect through Toronto or Montreal. Doesn't seem to be an abundance of direct flights, at least when I'm looking to fly somewhere. We're connecting in Montreal for our trip to Disney at the end of Jan.

Nuts!!! We are flying to WDW Sept. 28th through Newark and I was hoping that the preclearance would open a bit early. I don't have a real preference of where I clear customs, but arriving international in Newark means that we have to clear security as well before going for the connecting flight. With the preclearance you arrive domestic and don't have to clear security before heading for the connection to Orlando.

djpositive, check out Continental. They fly nice connections through Newark. Once you use up your Aeroplan points, start accumulating some points on a different airline... Air Canada is always gonna connect through Toronto, Ottawa, or Montreal.

Sigh. DIRECT FLIGHTS YHZ to MCO... our fondest dream. Hey, why don't all us Disers flying from YHZ get together and charter a plane!!!

Our Feb 05 trip was direct on AC. It was so lovely. About 4 hours down, 3.5 hours back. I've been waiting for them to do it again and book it with my Avion points, but nothing yet. The plane was packed so I don't know why they're not doing it again! :confused3
