An UPDATE: Driving home from Disney to Toronto...

My family managed to get seven seats on Air Canada coming home on the 14th. It is going to cost them about $179.00 US a ticket. They originally called a car rental company for a van and they wanted $1000 and they'd only be able to bring it to the Buffalo airport. After that they'd have to find another way of getting across the border.
I sure hope my mom who purchased the tickets from Canada 3000 can get the credit card charges reversed for not rendering services

My family is stuck there right now (three adults/four kids) and were due to come home Wednesday via Canada 3000. Anyhow I was wondering if anyone has any explicit driving directions from Orlando to Toronto. I'm also looking for good rest stops/hotels on the way back for them. Any recommendations for Orlando Van rental companies are highly appreciated.

(My BF also had to book a new flight from Toronto to Edmonton today via Air Canada since his C3000 flight was grounded)

I live in Central/Northern Ontario (depends on who you talk to :) ). Anyway the past three times we have went to Disney we have driven, my wife,daughter and I enjoy the drive. Depending on where you are staying in Orlando you make your way to the Florida Turnpike which is off of I-4. The Turnpike takes you across to I-75 and it is pretty well clean sailing from there. Some people choose to go around Atlanta however we like going through it (of course this depends on rush hour traffic and how close you are to it.) We always use Georgetown Kentucky as our half way point as we do the trip in two days. This means approximately 12 hours travelling each day (this includes meal stops and washroom breaks). Georgetown is just passed (north of) Lexington, Kentucky. And there some nice new hotels right off the I-75.

Day two will be a bit shorter for you compared to us because we must travel all the way through michigan to 2 hours east of Sault Ste Marie. You can take I-75 to just outside of Toledo Ohio and then get on I-23 to by-pass Detroit, unless you wanna cross back into Canada at Windsor. If not you can take the I-23 to north of Detroit and then take Hiway #69 to the Port Huron Border crossing, then take the 402 to Hiway 401 and u should be in familiar territory.

Good Luck and don't fret the drive isn't that bad just watch your road signs carefully and maybe pack a cooler with drinks and snacks for the kids. Oh one of our favourite places to stop is the Cracker Barrel restaurant, good food and relaxing atmosphere. Hope this Helps!!!

Hi Epcotfan. I'm sorry to hear that you have family stranded in Florida right now. I'm not sure whether this would work, but is there any possibility that one of them could join AAA right now and get a Triptik for the journey home? If they're already CAA members I would think AAA could handle it, unless AAA only provides certain kinds of reciprocal privileges (such as towing) to CAA members.
