WELL today is the day were some Mom's and Dad's do a happy dance, others go out to lunch with each other. Then there are parent's like me. I toss and turn all night...and sit and cry the next day, trying to figure out, where are the years are going to. :confused3

This is a big school year for us ,our twins are last year of Elementary and our 5 year old DS starts Kindergarten. Then the BIG WHAMMY, our DD 3, who is my sidekick and goes everywhere with Mommy is starting Pre-School today...

CONTROL YOURSELF...... I keep telling myself. BE HAPPY!!!!!
I am but yet extremely sad, where are the years going!!??? :sad2:
They grow before you even turn your head.
I am soo proud of all them!

So if you don't mind... Today I will have very red and puffy eyes... :3dglasses

The good news ...Disney is in 54 days!!!!! So for 9 days we can ALL be kids together!! :wizard:

Thank you for letting me vent, the tears have stopped for now..I feel better..

I LOVE THE DISERS!!!!!!

Our first day was Aug 23, and DH and I cried til noon. Our baby started kindergarten. He's like, "haven't you left yet"

But today, two weeks later, I'm standing at the door saying, come on bus, get here!

My DS started Kindergarten yesterday  I was crying the whole time. The school that he is attending was also his daycare since he was 3 months old - so this is his last year there. The teacher gave all the parents a little plastic bag with a tissue (to dry your tears) a tea bag (to brew and calm down) and, get ready, a cotton ball to hold to remember your child's gentle spirit  - that really did me in! Meanwhile, my DS is skipping into class with his little uniform on looking so handsome!!!

:grouphug: :grouphug: For all!

I cry at almost every event that my son takes part in...you are not alone...just hang in there and make the afternoon special for the kids...they will be home before you know it.

On my youngest daughter's first day of kindergarten last week the teacher read all the kids and their moms the book "The Kissing Hand". It's about a little racoon who is scared to go to school, so his Mom kisses the palm of his hand so that whenever he needs a kiss from Mom he has it right in the palm of his hand. Then, the teacher has us all kiss our children's hands. The story goes on that on the first day of school the Mommy racoon starts to cry, so the little racoon kisses the palm of her hand so that whenever she needs a kiss she has it right in the palm of her hand. Then, the teacher had all the kids kiss our hands. I was doing fine until then!!! All the Moms got misty eyed.

I just dropped my only, DD off at her first day of pre-k. She seemed ok..and I made it out to the car and through the Dunkins drive through next door before I began to cry. All I can think is "Where did my baby go?!??" They really do grow up WAY WAY too fast!

I am right there with you. My youngest started Kindergarten today, and my middle child started middle school and my oldest started high school. What a year of changes :rotfl2: I still cannot believe that after 15 years of having someone home with me I now have 2 or 3 full days a week home alone. I cannot even begin to think about what I will do next year when the youngest goes everyday. I will have to go back to school as the oldest student ever or find a job that is pretty flexible. I just try to keep busy and know that they are all enjoying themselves (some more than others) and learning what they need to to get by in this world.

We have so much in common. My oldest DS 5 started Kindergarten today too but I got hit with a double whammy.....my 3 y/o DS who is my sidekick started preschool today. I have had 4 cups of coffee and half a bottle of ibuprofen today!
I have cried so much my head feels like it is going to explode. How do we cope and deal with this? I feel like I don't know who I really am without kids. I wanted to pull them out of school today and keep them home! :guilty:

Good luck! I will be thinking of you as I am relating to you here in Maine. :sad2:

I didn't think I was anxious about DD going to preschool until I woke up from a nightmare the night before the 1st day. I dreamt there were sting rays all over the playground equipment. :scared1: I guess I was more worried than I thought, and upset about Steve Irwin, since I had just heard about the whole string ray incident.
Think happy thoughts.

Well I just picked up DD...teachers reported she did GREAT..and when i got there she said "I am not going HOME am I??!!??" which made me inexplicably sad... :sad2: She wouldnt even tell me about her day. I just got out of her that she used markers. I am glad she liked it...but I want to tell her to still need me please! :goodvibes

you are so sad. :grouphug:

I can TOTALLY sympathize with you though. I already told DH that he is going to have a serious crazy woman on his hands when we send dtwins off to K. I was "supposed" to enroll them in some kind of part time pre-k program this year...even interviewed several places. I didn't like ANY of them...needless to say they aren't in pre-k yet. Btw - my children cried when DH and I took them out of the classroom to go home after our interviews/meetings. They WANT to be in school. Mommy can't let go...ya think?

I know I'm not doing my children any good keeping them with me 24/7, but I just can't bring myself to "trust" anyone else with them (It's awful). I feel so bad, but just know that your baby will be ok and is probably thrilled to be in school like a big kid. :) Also, lots of moms on here can probably sympathize with you.

Take care and enjoy your upcoming trip! :)

This is a tradition in our house...we read it each year, the night before the first day of school. My oldest is in 6th grade...I STILL cry everytime I read it!

Its so nice to see Moms like me!! My baby girl started kindergarten last week :guilty: She has been my little budy since she was born. I am a stay at home Mom to her and my DS who just turned 2. Everyone told me I would be so happy when she went to school, but I didn't feel that way at all! Its really only 2 1/2 a day, but getting on that big bus- she looks so little!! I have held her hand in every parking lot and store since she could walk. When I thought of her getting off that bus on her first day of school with no one to take her hand :guilty: But thank goodness she loves it and is having a blast! My husband and I have teared up at every wedding we have been to since she was born, during the Father/daughter dance- how sad are we?!LOL!

:hourglass I can remember thinking how sad it was the day I dropped our oldest off at Kindergarten the first time. I don't think I cried, but I was right there with the camera like the paparazi! It didn't really hit me until the first morning he rode the bus all by himself. I watched as I waited with him eagerly at the corner of teh driveway... then to see him and his big back pack that overtook his little body teeter down the isle and plop down onto a seat on our side of the bus. He was so happy and so nervous all at once! Then he turned and looked out the window and waved like a little man as the bus pulled away! Thats when I lost it! It is forever etched inmy memory - I can still remember the outfit he had on! :guilty:

But now - this year - I can totaly sympathize with the Staples commercials and the "most wonderful time of the year" song - the entire situation. :cheer2: Dont get me wrong, I love my little ones, and they grow sooo fast - but this year they/we were ready to go back. They were sick of me, they were sick of each other and I was sick of entertaining and having the entire neighborhood knocking on my door every day!

DS3.5 is in his second year of Preschool and DS7 is in 2nd grade. They were ready for a routine again. Baby#3 is due in less than 25 days and counting - maybe sooner - The timing couldn't be better.

Cheer up sad Mommies - - it gets easier as the years and day and weeks go on... I love fall and this time of year all together. I sink my teeth into Autumn activities after school and on weekends. The newfound mom-freedom is a great thing and ucgly deserved. Us moms deserve a little time too ya know - ((I say that as I sithere at 4am unable to sleep with 9th month pregnancy insomia)) But suck it up, cause it goes by fast! :groom:

Oh my goodness....I'm sitting here all choked up! My DS started Kindergarten today, first time he'll be away from me for the whole day. So I cried as he got on the bus. DD started 3rd grade today, she's so excited to go back to school! But I'm reading this about the Kissing Hand and realizing my DD must have heard this book in Kindergarten, because she told me & I kiss her hand EVERY SINGLE DAY she gets on the bus. Well, neither of us thought about it this morning after having the summer off & now I've got tears down my face because I didn't kiss her hand!!! I'm sure she won't even think about it or be concerned at all, but it's our thing! There are so many other moms that see you teary eyed & chuckle! Nice to know I'm not alone :grouphug:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was crying on Tuesday! My son started high school! My little boy! What happened? Just yesterday he was my little baby. When we went to the high school orientation a few weeks ago, the principal said, "These next four years are going to go by so fast, the next thing you know you will be standing up on this stage in your cap and gown." Was he just TRYING to make me start bawling?????? I really didn't expect to cry at the orientation!

My daughter started third grade this year, and I was fine, until I started walking out the door of the school without her, then I had to walk fast to make it to my car before the other parents saw me crying!

Thankfully, my youngest (she's three) was born in December, so she won't be going to school until she is almost 6!!!! I will probably need several people to go with me on that day, to drag me out of her classroom!

I am so glad to hear I was not the only one! I felt like a complete loon when I started to cry in the Dunkins drive through. And mind you before this child I was the teacher who was shooing the moms out the door and telling them to go relish their free time. SO different being on the other side :)

Come on Mom you can do it! Let those babies go somewhere lol, i mean if ya dont do a trial run this year what the heck are you gonna do next year when you have to send them to kindergarten LOL! Think how much fun they would have with their friends. My 4 yr old is in pre k too, ( and yes i was sad too) but it makes me laugh to hear him talk about his friends.

 Oh Dear....can't.....stop.......crying.......over.... .here........and DD is still a year away from preschool!!! I can only imagine what I'll be like when it's her first day.
While I totally agree....they grow up much too fast, I also adore watching my little one grow up and become this awesome little person! I was tucking her into bed tonight and she kissed me then said "I love you mommy.....you're my best friend". :cloud9: :lovestruc  :love2:

Oh yeah, this morning she told me "I don't like you mommy" Love this age.

:grouphug: Hugs all around.

One less box of tissues in this house too, after this morning!!

DS's first day of second grade was today, and I cried both last night after (finally!) getting to bed and again this morning after he left on the bus. I'll be at it again next Monday I take DD to pre-K.

I cry for just about everything, so I pretty much expected the tears to come. (You should have seen me his first day of kindergarten - I couldn't stop sobbing the whole morning until it was time to pick him up!) Heaven help me when DD (our last child) goes every day for kindergarten next year! And, I can't believe Im saying this, but we are thinking about sending her to full-day. She would love it and do great; I, on the other hand, would be a mess the first week at least.

My daughter's kindergarten teacher read that book too, it is SO sweet! It helped both my daughter and me!

Sorry ladies, it doesn't always get better as the years go on! I'm living proof! Us saps still cry when our 9th graders head off to school!

And, as my son and I were entering the grocery store this evening, this adorably cute teenager starts madly waving to someone in the parkig lot. My shy son didn't say a thing, and I assumed she was waving at another employee who had walked out of the building. Imagine my shock when she walked over to my son and said teasingly, "Fine, don't say hi to me!" My son then finally said hi to her. Oh my gosh, it's only a matter of time before he starts dating!! Plese, someone, a tissue?????

At least I still have my baby nephew!

I just joined a gym, too, with DH and I picked the one almost right next to DD's preschool. I figured I'd have no excuse not to go! I'll work out with you in spirit!!

Enjoy your kids while they're young. They grow up very, very soon. Take lots and lots of pictures, and don't make excuses to anyone for doing so. Mine are DS 32, and DD almost 31. The years fly by so fast. Remember that no one can take away the memories you make with them today.
