Wow I am surprised! We have three kids, 11, 8 and 2. They all were beyond excited. We tease them and ask them if they are going to get tired of going to Disney. Then we all laugh. Even our 2 year old is obsessed. We say he was born with the Disney gene. He tells people he is going to Disney World on "bacation". We just did an add on at VWL(our home). We had a family vote if it should be VWL or BCV. Everyone wanted VWL. (Maybe also BCV when it opens!)
I'm sure you will enjoy your DVC membership!

I have a feeling that your son will be pretty happy with your DVC membership when he has children of his own that LOVE to go to Disney World, courtesy of Grandma and Grandpa. ;)

My kids (12, 10, 7 at the time) were, and are, thrilled. :D

I asked DD12 and DD10 if they would like to go to WDW every year for vacation.

They looked at me like I was the stupidest person on earth and said "Well, duh!!!"

I guess that means they are happy with the decision!

My son was there when we signed but at 12 months he was more interested in walking around, closing doors and throwing the little DVC football they gave him. He did enjoy his first trip to WDW and I bet he will enjoy many future trips.
Then again it looks like he will have to because his parents love WDW and Disney in general.

I am sure to purchase a major add-on when BCV goes on sale.

My DS was 17 and was extremely pleased. Of course, we had just stayed at BWV for cash and he and a friend had a great time. And, of course, we had been to WDW at least 6 times in his lifetime so he knows there is more than just MK.

At 17 (now 18) he enjoys the pools, bringing a friend, the Boardwalk, Pleasure Island, the beach at Vero, etc.

They wanted to know when they should start packing:p
DD 16, DD 24 & DS 28.
Oh my, can't forget, DGS 4-1/2.
351 days till they all go!
I don't start calling them every day and asking them how many days until 101 days (Dalmatian Day) till departure.

Otherwise its a game to see who asks first whenever we see or talk to each other:D

Our kids were very young when we bought in 1991. They just thought of it as their second home-they still do. I think they grew up thinking Mickey was their Uncle. LOL!!! They're both teenagers now and would not miss a Disney vacation for anything!!!

We are recent purchsers being a member almost one year. One son was 8 and one son was 1.
However, our 8 year old was thrilled he had been to Disney at least three times already and just loves all Disney things!

Since our "children" were adults when we joined (youngest was 20), I can't say, but I can say that they were still VERY excited and only admonished us for not doing it sooner!

When DD, 4 asked me if she could ride Poppins horse (Cinderellas Carosel), I told her absolutley----for the next 41 yrs. DS, 2 just said I swim, I swim over and over again. I guess that means they approved. :bounce: :bounce:

My dd was 6mo when we purchased....I don't think she'll comprehend the time "before DVC". My ds was 5yo....and seemed pretty happy. He was mostly interested in tracing his hand on scrap paper....and trying to drag his dad off to play video games in the play room. He wouldn't stay there on his own. He does now understand that we'll be going back to WDW every year...and he likes that!

Our boys were 18 and 15. Honestly, I don't think they cared one way or the other. They had been to WDW twice before and kinda had the attitude of "been there, done that, what's for dinner mom? ". They're in college now and are happy to see DW and I enjoy DVC but they kinda roll their eyes when we start talking about up coming trips. I think they humor us so we'll keep paying their tuition :-).

our DS was less than a year when we sent in our paperwork, and he hasn't ever been to WDW yet, but I FEARLESSLY predict that he will be *extremely* happy!!! :D

First trip home in January! He's going to have a blast!

mrsdon : how good is the CM discount??? Maybe I need to get myself a part time job in our local Disney Store!!!

My DD is 10, we just bought in September. I haven't explained the 41 years part, but she was surely thrilled with the OKW one bedroom we stayed in. She especially liked that the big TV was in "her" bedroom, and was the first to use the jacuzzi. I did show her the Member Guidebook when it arrived. You know the shot of the king size bed in the Jefferson in Washington DC? It's funny, but of all the choices, she wants to go THERE!

My DW and I were discussing whether to buy or not whrn our 2 year old DD said she wanted a "village". Two trips and a year and an add on later we are glad she did.

Our DD is now 30 and our DS is 25. Both are major-league Disney addicts. They were both thrilled when we purchased a BWV resale last January. We put both of them on the deed, since neither of us expect to be able to use this membership all the way to 2042. DS accompanied us for our first visit as DVC members in July, and DD will join us for part of our next visit this coming January. Our March trip will be our first DVC visit with just the two of us.

If we ever get tired of taking these trips, we know that someone will be ready, willing, and able to use the points!

We have a son who at the time was 17 years of age ('97), and is excited at the notion that his children could enjoy DVC at a later date (if we give him points to use or invite him down):p

Our sons were 2, now almost 11yo and 6, now 15 and 1/2yo, they didnt realize what it all meant then, but when and if they ever stay in a regular hotel room they are devastated, what only 1 TV? Where's the fridge and stove, washer & dryer?

Our youngest wouldnt swim in his aunt's above ground pool, because it wasnt like disney's pool.

DS (14) thought it was "pretty cool". He enjoys Disney and has been there several times. We just bought into DVC and have not closed yet.

However, DS's school football team is going for the state title next weekend and he had a party last night with a bonfire.
That was considered "pretty sweet". So as teen lingo goes, DVC is #2. "Pretty sweet" is better than "pretty cool".

But DH & I are thrilled. Once we do a trip AND go to Daytona for a race, DS will be calling DVC "pretty sweet"!
