Who here is like me, wanting to go to WDW again so bad, DISing everyday and reading trip reports just to get that Disney fix....yet lo and behold life got in the way of planning a new trip?

It was only so long ago (maybe about a month) that I had my ticker up, trying to decide between CBR and AKL.....and then life blindsided me so it has to be pushed back months, maybe even a year. But what can ya say, sh*t happens..... :guilty:

Can I join the pity party?

DH and I were married at WDW last year and we've been dying to go back, but I obsess about it!

I've tried several different ways to get the cost down, but I just can't make it work in our budget yet.

We hope to buy DVC sometime next year, but :confused3 things change sometimes.

Our first anniversary is coming up in 17 days...it would be a dream come true (again) to be there to celebrate. :guilty:

We just hit a temporary financial snag with DH's job for about a month and it felt like everything came crashing down.... DH just started a brand new job with great pay and better benefits. They also have their own credit union. Everything is better now but since he's only had the job for a few weeks, he wants to make sure his spot is stable and doesn't want to take any time off yet, which is understandable. It still sucks though. Hopefully we can go within the next few months, but we'll see. You gotta make sure home is taken care of first :) .

I'll join the club! My husband and I honeymooned at the Wilderness Lodge last October, and I'm just dying to go back! But alas, it's not meant to be this year. I'm still crossing my fingers for next year though...

I last went in October '04 and had such a great time. But now...I just got a divorce, so I have no one with whom to go. None of my friends can afford it and/or get the time off. Heck, let's just say I really have no friends (I consider them "more-than-acquaintances-but-not-quite-friends"). My mother can't even go because she's a student again after losing her job last Christmas (after 27 years of service) and besides, she is the sole caretaker for my 79-year-old grandmother. I have little fantasies that my crush will come around and we can take his 2 adorable little girls (never mind that we hardly ever get to just talk because he's so busy with his job - and that he never takes time off from work to begin with).

I guess I could go alone, but I don't enjoy that. I don't even like to run errands alone - I really prefer company.

I want to join! My mom and stepdad are going in about 10 days, and they promise to bring lots of souvenirs but it is NOT the same. I've gone for the last three years from late April to early May, and I'm probably going this year too but it just seems so far away. :sad1:

At least I get to make a ticker because I actually know when I'm going.

I miss the magic. :wizard:

Gosh he makes me feel so guilty :sad2: Just keep counting down until April for the long trip. And yes, you will be getting souvenirs. (and in case anyone hasn't already guessed, I'm the mean Mom to JediDan going to WDW in 7 days without him this time) :guilty:

I haven't been anywhere near the world in 3 LONG YEARS. looking at these boards is like staring at chocolate when you're on a diet!

I'm kind of in this category. We just went in August and had an amazingly great trip:). It was the best one so far, and I really want to start planning a trip for next summer. The thing is, I don't know if DH will get on board or not, and I don't want to bring it up yet because I am still daring to hope that he'll agree and I'm not ready to have my hopes shattered. So, I guess I'm in limbo.

I started working part time this week, and my intention is to set aside my whole paycheck for a potential Disney trip. If I found out today that DH wouldn't agree to a trip, I might just quit the job:).

We had a one day trip to Disneyland this past summer, which is just enough to whet your appetite, not satisfy the craving. I am hoping to plan a trip for 07, but it is still uncertain at this point.

I'm in this catagory as well. We just went in August and I'm DYING to plan another trip back, but anytime I mention any deals I might see to my dh he just shakes his head and looks at me like he doesn't want to hear it...........at least yet...... :)

Can I join the pity party? We just moved cross-country (from Las Vegas to Virginia) and we are way too poor for any WDW trips right now. I really want to go. :guilty:

hi Bonnie!

I'm in Virginia too...but the other side (southeastern).

Busch Gardens is my pitiful substitute!

I know things will get back to "normal" soon for you, and I'll bet you have a ticker up before you know it!

I'll join in...IF I qualify.. I probably won't get to go back until December 07! *refer to my ticker* But, I'll probably go before then, if not twice. so..I probably don't qualify ;) But pixie dust anyways!

There are so many ways to go to WDW w/o mortgaging everything you own. I think that was one of my scariest thoughts when we took our first trip there---we're slated for number 5 in December!

I was pinching pennies, checking hotel information, saving every dime and nickel I could and asking everyone I knew who'd been "how bad is it really?" I got everything from "I'd never go there w/o having at least 5k in my pocket" to "it took 1500 to feed a family of three" that included two adults and one two year old child...I was  I would never spend 5k on a vacation, we couldn't, and couldn't conceive of eating 1500 in food in ONE week, make no mistake, I am a healthy size 12, fourteen feels better ;) and we were going with two teenage girls to boot and we eat what we want, when we want!

I think the most expensive things that you'll have to face are lodging, park tickets, dining and fuel/travel expenses.

On our last trip, we spent maybe $400 in food (we had dinner pre-paid one night, Spirit of Ahloha so altogether, 550-600 for four people) and I would do one-two things a mth as the year/trip planning unfolded...one mth, I'd buy the tickets, the next reserve airline reservations, and so it went on and on until little by little we'd be ready to go. One life saver I'd recommend to anyone, is if you're staying in a WDW Resort, buy the refillable mugs!

We were fortunate enough to become DVC Members about two years ago, if you and your family LOVE WDW it's the way to go....lodging, pre-paid and you're staying in top of the line resorts....we've NEVER regretted it. We also buy the ten day tickets with no expiration, these tickets normally get us through about 2 yrs since we only go once a year. Now that we are empty nesters, we hope to be able to either go twice a year or stay for two weeks at a time....we'll see.

Little by little we would make it come together, granted you're planning a year in advance---but for me, that's half the fun! I've done the same thing since we got back last September....sat our next trip date, and started planning.

These boards are a tremendous help and don't be afraid to ask anything, believe me, I am sure there are a lot of fortunate folks that don't have to go to such measures as we do to be able to hit WDW, but I'm sure there are just as many, like us, who love it and have to budget.

Hang in there, may God bless you in your new home state and may your dreams of WDW not be nearly as far off as you think they are :)

Good Luck

Can I join too! I was there in April and want to go again so bad for the holidays. My next trip is supposed to be in July of 2008 with my DSis. WE have gone every other year since 98. I can't wait until DNiece is old enough to take but she is only 8 months old right now. I want her potty trained before I take her! I took another niece 4 years ago when she was 12 and she was so homesick I'm afraid to ask her again. The rest of the family are all adults and haven't got the Disney bug like I do. I have been thinking about a solo trip but I'm not sure about that. :wave2:

I'll join the No Disney Pity Party. :sad1: DH and I are working to get out of debt and decided no more vacations until the credit cards & 2 car loans are paid in full. Estimated date of next Disney trip: Summer 2009. :sad2: At least then my soon-to-be little DS will be old enough to enjoy some rides with us!

In the meantime I have the DIS and other Disney web sites.... :surfweb:
