View Full Version : Quick clarification question re: 7/11 month window

Hi Guys-

We recently booked an Illuminations cruise, and for *that*, we had to call exactly 90 DAYS in advance. In *that* case, we were calling for the 28th of January but 90 days wound up being some other day in October (the 30th, I think), due to variation in how many days/month there are over the next several months.

For DVC, however, just to clarify, we're NOT talking about calling a specific number of DAYS in advance, just MONTHS. So am I correct in assuming that if I'm calling, say, for next October 27th, and I want to call at the 11 month window, then I call on this November 27th, rather than counting back a specified number of days?

I know this is a stupid question, but figured I'd better bite the bullet and make absolutely sure. The LAST thing I'd want to do would be to miss the window.

Thanks!!!

Not stupid Jon. Have wondered that myself. I have always called according to your example. If I wanted a ressie departing on the 27th I would call 7 months back on the 27th.

First of all, I don't think it is a stupid question.

I have the same understanding as you and have made reservations at the 11 month window four times doing what you suggest. I also looked this up in the new member guide (it's on page 29), and that's what the guide book says, too.

There are a few little quirks (like what do you do when you want to book January 29-31 and February only has 28 days), but I've never had to deal with that.

Congratulations on getting that Illuminations Cruise!

The 11/7 windows refer to date of checkout- not arrival. So if you want to arrive on Oct 27- you can make the reservation no earlier than Nov 28, since the 28th would be check-out for the 27th.

If you will be making a reservation by calling daily, let MS know when you begin the process and they will link all of the dates together and send just one confirmation for the entire stay.

Enjoy!

I don't have any trouble with the 11 month window, but I sure get confused about the 7 month. :o If I want to check out on 8/24, do I call on 1/24 or 2/24?

DizMare -

If you want to check out on 8/24, you can call on 1/24. Sometimes, all this information makes my head hurt! So I like the chart on page 29 of the new member guidebook. It tells me when and I don't have to think so hard.

Thanks, Carol! Page 29 is just what I needed. Gotta get around to reading the handbook (it has been on my nightstand with other "must reads.") Thanks for helping!
