I bought at age 48 two years ago. I have tried OKW, Vero and
next May my wife and I will travel to Hilton Head. My kids are 22 and 19. My daughter has gone with friends. I am hoping to use a Grand Villa for a family trip in the next few years. If you have Grandchildren at some point I think you will use your membership
a lot over the next 20-30 years. I have a friend that is taking both his son and his daughter's families down for a big vacation.
Imagine if your parents arranged free accomodations for you for the next 42 years! The possibilites are fantastic!

My mom bought when she was 63. I am the holder of the keys as she says. It was purchased by her to spend more time with her grandkids and for them to have when if ever she leaves us. I make the arrangements for every trip and we live four hours away from each other. We have done Disney, The cruise, Vero and next week we leave to spend Thanksgiving together in HH. This way they are sharing memorable time with their Nana.

I was 33 and DH was younger;) We have 4 children, so we are not concerned that we won't get full use of the 42 years! I actually tried to talk my husband into buying twice the points as most purchasers, because we have twice the kids as most families, but he said no:( , because we have twice the food, clothing, etc. bills as most families. Oh, well, I am REAL good at stretching our points and having twice the fun doing it. :)

In the 7 years we have owned we have gotten every penny back of our investment. Two visits a year along with the 5 years of park passes.

We bought last year; I was 48 and my partner was 53. We both have health issues that make it very doubtful either of us will see the lease expire (heck, I'm amazed that we've made it this far!), but we plan on enjoying all the time we can get out of it!!

I'm not telling how old I was in 1998 when we bought. But I will give you a clue. 98% of the posters to this thread are old enought to be our children.

Seriously we bought for our kids and grandkids to use. It has turned out that Grandad and Grandmom have become DVC fanatics. 15 days until we get a 1 BR at OKW for four nights of enjoying all the Christmas goings on.

We just purchased and both of us will be turning 53 shortly after the New Year. We researched tons of time share options and decided the flexiblity with DVC was the best for us. We will stay in studio or one bedroom units when it's just the two of us and have the option of renting larger units when we take the kids and grandkids. Also looking forward to travelling throughout the US and taking advantage of the Conceirge Resorts when not visiting WDW, HH, or Vero. We are in no way Disney fanatics--haven't been to WDW since 1990 but feel certain this was the best purchase option for our needs and retirement travels.

I was 58 and my husband 62 and we intend to use all 42 years of it. We bought at BWV and we're going home in two weeks. Then in Jan. we're going to VWL and we may add on then if its not sold out.

We take out kids and grandkids with us some but they are not going to have it to themselves in these 42 years.:D

DH and I were 41 when we purchased our initial BWV in '99; 42, 43, and 44 with addons! (Just added HH points on our recent trip). Who says you have to have kids to buy DVC?!? :D There are always nieces and nephews, in-laws, friends... which is one of several reasons we bought!

TrudyZ
11-08-2001, 07:10 PM
We bought this May, after our first trip to WDW; I just turned 37 and my DH is 30 (okay, no smart remarks). :D

Main reason: then 2 year old daughter batted her big brown eyes at her Dad. When we got on the plane to go home and those eyes filled with tears and the lip started to quiver; my DH asked her when she wanted to come back. She promply stated, "at 3, after my nap". We purchased an OKW resale the following week.

I will be 86 and DH will be 96 in 2042 kids will be 60,57,and 55. can't even grasp that though. DH and I if God is willing to keep us alived that long will be draging along with the kids. So we plan on all 42 years. This was the best thing we ever did. Whis we had joined earlier but I didn't want to give up vacaction time for a time share tour. Just purchased on Sunday! DH is "40-something" and I'm 34. We have a 14 year old son. I look forward to using my membership to the full - even have a "sketchy" outline of trips we'll be taking for the next 10 years or so, lol! Plus I have 11 brothers and sisters - some have already asked when they can come along on our trips. Looking forward to it all!!!

We bought in 1998. I was 39 and DH was 43. We intend to use our years with our boys, extended family and friends. Almost everyone we know has been there with us. We've been to OKW,VWL,VB, HH and our home resort BWV.
