Pre-trip information: Before the trip for almost a month I had a sinus and ear infection. I was on antibiotics 3 weeks by the time this trip happened, that were causing various side effects. We also spent two hours the Friday before we left at Circuit City getting new Verizon cell phones for my parents.

My father also was wheel chair bound for 6 weeks in the past and has a hip problem that constantly bothers him. He has a handicap placard for this reason, which we used occasionally throughout the trip as the excessive walking bothers him.

All of us have been to WDW on several occasions. I lived in Orlando for 4 years and worked as a cast member in merchantanmnet.

Dates: Sunday, August 13th to Sunday August 20th staying at the All Star Sports

Day 1: Sunday August 13th 2006

We packed up the car and left for the Allentown Airport around 10am. We got to the airport around 11am. We ate lunch and headed for security. We were through security in less than 10 minutes. No line. They checked photo ID’s and boarding passes before security. Through security it was, the standard shoes off, laptops out of bags, etc. Just no liquids or gels in carry ons which they had messages playing in the airport and everyone kept informing us of the current situation.

We sat in the terminal and waited for about 45 minutes and then we got on the plane for our flight at 1:30pm. We were quickly in the air and on our way to the Orlando/ Sanford airport. We flew on Allegiant air. It was cheap, efficient but no frills. Everything you had to pay for: sodas, water, snacks, etc. Nothing was included sodas and water were $2 for a 12 ounce can. They had a menu they handed out that included playing cards, airplane model and other items.

I used the Ear Planes because of the current sinus and ear problems, but I wonder if they actually caused me more pain than they prevented as as soon as I removed them my ears felt so much better. We had a good smooth flight it was an awesome day for flying clear blue skies with a few clouds.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon002.jpg

We landed and were off to claim our luggage. On the way we saw the table covered in collected liquids of those who were uninformed before they got to the airpot. We had not witnessed this in Allentown. There was an employee there who was sorting and packing up the liquids.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon006.jpg

My bag arrived with the first load but everyone else’s took a longer period of time to get there. My brother and Dad went to get the rental car while we waited for the rest of the luggage.

The second car was the one they chose as the first when they started it the oil light came on, as did the low windshield wiper fluid and the check engine light. Therefore they chose another car. We are from New Mexico for the week. LOL as that is what our license plate is from.

As soon as we got outside we could see that it was about to storm. We got the royal Florida :welcome: thunderstorm, lighting, thunder, hail, rain, flooding across the roads. We drove through water above our tires at one point and the brakes stopped working briefly.

We finally got to All Star Sports Resort. We checked in with a nice cast member named Jenna who was earning her ears. Although she worked for Disney for 5 years already she was new to the front desk. She was very enthusiastic and informative. My only complaint was she told us to go all the way around to the back to park to get to our room at Hoops room 3210. It was not a big deal except we ended up carrying our luggage twice as far as if we had parked on the other side. We decided it was more efficient to turn right as soon as you enter and drive all the way to the back of the lot. This was my initial thought but I thought perhaps she knew something I was missing.

We chilled in the room for a bit and then we headed to the Grand Floridan for our dinner at the Grand Floridian Café. On the way it started to storm again especially as we were entering the Magic Kingdom area and it looked like night despite being about 6pm.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon028.jpg

My father dropped us off at the Grand Floridian as it was pouring. He went to park the car as we forgot the handicap placard which would have gotten us .. We forgot the handicap placard which would have gotten us valet parking for free with a tip. This was a mistake, as we forgot the placard and the parking at Grand Floridian for regular parking is across the street. Luckily the rain slowed down but he still had a rainy walk.

As we waited for him to arrive I took some pictures.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon047.jpg
Once we went to the Grand Floridian Cafe were promptly seated near the entrance area to the restaurant. We got the Crab Cakes, Land and Sea, and Key Lime Pie, Tiramisu and Lemon Cheesecake. All was good.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon053.jpg
We shared the meals on the free dining plan and paid out of pocket for the extra drinks and extra tip.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon056.jpg

While we were at the restaurant about 10 parties were turned away who wanted to eat there. Restaurants are definitely full due to the free dining. If you are headed any time soon make sure to make your ADR’s as early as possible.

After dinner we rode the monorail around and transferred to the EPCOT express monorail and than back to the resort line and back to the Grand Floridian to get our car. There was a band that was playing Disney music in the Grand Floridian which was a nice touch.

We explored the All Stars some and headed to bed early as we have an early day :sunny: at AK tomorrow for early entry.

So Monday arrived bright and early with a wake up call from Stitch in the Tiki room at I think 6:30am. All I know is it was too early to be dragging my butt out of bed on vacation.

We ate breakfast in the Endzone food court at the All Star Sports. I had a breakfast platter and soda. Let’s just say I drank too much of it on this trip.

After breakfast we loaded up the car and were off to Animal Kingdom for 8am entry. As soon as we entered the park my brother and I headed to guest services to get our free Expedition Everest picture certificates. Our parents on the other hand did not listen to what we told them in the car on the way over or they listened to the second part but the missed the first thing.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon075.jpg

They entered the park and headed straight for Africa. They forgot that we were heading to guest services and we were all supposed to head to Africa together for the Safari. We see them walk by guest services and keep walking. We try to call them on their new cell phones that we got when we had to spend 2 hours at Circuit City the Friday before we left for WDW. They couldn’t figure out how to properly answer the phones. Eventually they call us back and after we wait in the guest services line and get our picture certificates we are off to Africa.

We wait in line for the safari for about 10 minutes. We are right at the front of the line and the safari vehicles keep passing us as they having check out for the day yet. Also since it was Early entry the Grand gathering private tours head out as well while we are waiting. It is all good though as we are soon on our way. I did find out that my TBS sister/friend Nicole is not working at Safaris that day, I later found out from another friend she is out of town.

We saw lots of animals on our safari.

We saw Rhinos
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon089.jpg

We couldn’t seem to identify this critter as he wasn’t on our Safari animal identification guide. :rotfl2:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon094.jpg

We saw Giraffes this one was right next to our safari vehicle
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon107.jpg

The elephants were enjoying their breakfast http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon116.jpg

The lion was sleeping
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon1261.jpg

We were than off to Expedition Everest.
I took this picture as I love how the altar is the exact same shape as the mountain.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon138.jpg

I was very excited to ride this ride as I had heard lots about how good it was, although the cast member I talked to at the Safari said she would never ride it again. That was just what my Mother needed to hear, as she doesn’t like things that go backwards. She did get in line which as always in Disney style was very decorated with relics and other ride related things. We were in line about 15 minutes and it was our turn to ride. We could have gotten on quicker if we would have went as single riders but since we had the free photos coupons and wanted to see the line decorations we took the stand by line.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon145.jpg

I enjoyed Expedition Everest but my body didn’t. I felt very nauseous after I got off this ride. I normally do not have problems with any rides but EE did it to me. However I think it was side effects from the antibiotic I was on. It did say it can cause dizziness and nausea both of which I got, I also think the fact the meds made me feel hotter than normal also didn’t help. The fact that it wasn’t 10 o’clock yet and I felt very sick did not make me a happy camper. I was afraid that most of my favorite rides were going to make me sick, luckily that turned out to not be the case.

Even standing in the AC waiting in line for my picture did not help that much. Eventually the cast member figured it out that our free pictures could be sent to our room. It wouldn’t work the first time because she was trying to put both certificates on the same transaction. Our pictures were set to arrive at our rest the next afternoon and I was off to get a drink hoping it would make me feel better. Everyone in my family did enjoy EE although I only ended up riding it once I really enjoyed it and hope to ride it again in the future.

Next on the list was Kali River Rapids I was hoping getting wet would cool me down enough so I was no longer feeling sick. In the end it did make me feel a little better.

We headed to Birds of Wonder which was about 2 minutes into the show when we arrived. It is a neat show that talks about birds and how the are endangered and things. My favorite part is the birds flying over your head, despite my normal fear of being pooped on by birds. There are hawks, eagles, parrots and other types of birds.

We were off to Dinosaur. I like looking at the fossils and things while in line for this ride.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon197.jpg

My brother decided to have fun with this Dino.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon1991.jpg

I was very concerned about getting sick on this ride as I still felt nauseous from EE earlier in the day. Luckily it didn’t make me feel any worse and I enjoyed the ride. Besides the nausea, I was feeling pretty good as my sinuses and ears only hurt a little.

After Dinosaur we were heading towards Tree of Life and Flame Tree BBQ. On the way there we stopped and watch G- Force perform for a few minutes, they are a trampoline acrobatic group which performs by Triceratops Spin. We had considered riding this and Primieval Whirl but the lines were about a half an hour or longer and we didn’t feel like waiting out in the sun.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon2101.jpg

We went to Flame tree BBQ for lunch, we had ribs and chicken and baked beans and chocolate cake. It was very yummy.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon222.jpg

I took my favorite pic of EE from the eating areas at Flame Tree. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon223.jpg
We had to watch out for the ants so they didn’t steal our food. :rotfl: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon225.jpg

I'm not happy with the picture size in this post, the first one the pictures are all the same size. This one they were huge and I reduced them and now they are a whole bunch of different sizes. I'm not sure why though :confused3 :confused3 anybody have any ideas.

Off into the depths of the Tree of Life for It’s Tough to be a Bug. While waiting for the show to start we started playing with the camera and the 3-d glasses and this is what results if you shoot the camera lens through another pair of 3-d glasses the one lens becomes clear.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon233.jpg

After Bugs Life we headed to camp Minnie Mickey.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon237.jpg

Once over there we had some time to kill before the Festival of the Lion King Show. We ran into Koda and Kenai while we relaxed with a drink.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon246.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon247.jpg

Than we stood in line and waited until they left us into the theater for the Festival of the Lion King show. It is one of my favorites and as always it didn’t disappoint.

We went straight from FOTLK to Pocahontas and her Friends show. It was very well done and Pocahontas did a good job.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon317.jpg

After Pocahontas we had to say good by to the “not a zoo” as we needed to head over towards EPCOT so we were there in time for our 6:50 pm ADR.

Once we got to EPCOT we had some time to use so we headed to the Land, we had about an hour until our dinner but Soarin’ wait time was 75 minutes and the boat tour was 45 minutes so we opted out of both of those and decided to check in at the Coral Reef Restaurant.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon347.jpg

They were running behind but told us to stop back in at our correct ADR time and they might be able to squeeze us in depending on when others show up. So we go over and do Turtle Talk with Crush. I had done this before in March of 2005 but nobody else did we waited about 25 minutes for it. They changed it a little since the first time I saw it. We take some pictures at the Nemo garden and then head back to the Coral Reef to see if they can take us.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006Frirday075.jpg
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon338.jpg

They now tell us they are running about 45 minutes behind and tell us to come back then. So we head over to the Imagination Station. We check the time for HISTA and it had just started so we get in line for, Figment. Yes there actually was a short line for Figment about 5 to 10 minutes but a line none the less. It is the first time since it is redone that I have seen a line for it. We ride Figment play a little bit in the Imagination Station and head back to Coral Reef.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon3401.jpg

This time they tell us to stay as they should have a table soon. About 10 minutes later our table is ready. We are seated by the Manager. Normally you might see the manager a little bit. She was cleaning tables, carrying dinners to tables, taking clean dishes from dishwasher to wherever they must go. She was on the move and busy. As were all the other staff as well they were all very busy but still happy and smiling. You could tell they were trying to make up since they were behind.

I didn’t mind that they were behind I was just happy I had a seat waiting at some point for me at a table service restaurant as we saw several people not find table service at like any location when the staff looked it up on the computer.

We ordered our drinks they brought us our bread and than we ordered the rest of our food. I had fried scallop Caesar salad it was very yummy I could not believe how many scallops were on it. The Grilled Mahi Mahi with coucous was good. For desert I had the chocolate wave which was great.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon349.jpg
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon354.jpg

As it was nearing 9pm after we left our dinner we headed over to the World Showcase for Illuminations. We knew we weren’t going to get a great spot that close to 9pm but it was decent and I didn’t care as I have seen it many, many times and it is not my favorite of the nighttime events at WDW.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon367.jpg
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a142/reanst/WDW%202006/WDW2006sunmon365.jpg

Illuminations seemed like the fireworks were not all there. Not sure why but for some reason it seemed like there were times there were supposed to be fireworks or more of them and there were not. Nothing major just an observation and perhaps completely just my opinion. We joined the pack on the way out of EPCOT.

I never have understood why everyone rushes out of the park. It’s not like someone is forcing you to get out. You can stay and wander and shop if you would like but for the most part to me it seems like a race to get out of the park.

Back to the hotel, where I hopped in the pool for a bit and head to bed as tomorrow will come way too soon.

As you can still tell I am having photo issues but at least it is here.

Can't wait to read more Becky :)
This airline has been operating without including drinks and stuff for awhile, so they have continued to do so despite now you can't bring your own on the plane. Although I did see people sneak it on the plane since you were not put through security again before you got on the plane and in the secure area they sold stuff. How they can prevent this without a second round of security right as the plane is boarding I don't know. Although they were conducting random searches of people.

Sounds like you had a fun second day too Becky - I really want to ride EE but I keep reading how it is messing with people and making them feel sick... I don't usually get motion sickness but you never know! I still have a little while to work up the courage though! :teeth:

Your pictures are really good BTW - are you cropping them or is that how they came off the camera? You have some really good closeups of the birds and the animals.

I am REALLY enjoying your report so far. If you did not mention that you were having photo problems, I wouldn't have known. Unfortunantly, I can't be of any help, because I'm still trying to figure that out.

Glad you mentioned how you felt after getting off of Everest. Now I know that I will get a fast pass as soon as the park opens, and ride this last. So if I do feel bad, as least I'll be on the bus on the way back to the room. I was going to try to be brave and ride it at park open, but it's not worth it. Losing 2hours from being sick on Mission Space last year taught me a lesson!

Can't wait to hear (and see) more!

All the safari are straight off the camera. The best tip for the safari is to go early in the morning as soon as the park opens. The animals are very active and close to the vehicle in my giraffe picture I probably could have touched the animal it was so close. Some of the birds I cropped some. Let's say I    my 12x optical zoom with image stabilization.

Here are some of the birds pre and post crop.

While I thought my safari pix were okay, yours are absolutely amazing considering how darn bumpy the safari is.....proof positive that the image stabilizer in your camera does what it's supposed to!

I look forward to reading more, and seeing more of your excellent photos :sunny:

I look forward to reading more, and seeing more of your excellent photos :sunny:

Thanks, sorry I haven't written back my life got really crazy for awhile. I have Sony DSC-H1 camera, it has a 12x optical zoom, 5.1 mp and the previously mentioned image stabilization. The newest model of it is the Sony DSC-H5.

So I will try to on my trip report now that I am feeling better and my classes are over and I don't have to spend hours and hours each week reading and writing papers. You should all be happy to know I got and A and an A- in my classes. So now I can play and finish writing my trip report. Sorry to keep you waiting.

So today after breakfast at our resort we headed off to Disney’s MGM Studios. Can’t call it just MGM or Studios as that wouldn’t be right, sorry the former Cast member in me coming out. :teeth:

We get to the park and this mouse greets us.

Walk some more towards the hat and there is like no one around so I got pictures of the hat with no one around.

We rode the Great Movie ride with no wait, always fun to ride through the movies. :thumbsup2 My name is Becky and I will be your host on your adventure through the movies. This is the perfect job me me as I  the movies. Have I ridden this ride enough :haha
http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/7A/5D/F6/i7A5DF627-1F07-43EC-B5F5-2AE1E1F08B70.jpg

We stop and see Muppet Vision 3-d always a great show, the Muppets are tons of fun.
http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/A5/CC/19/iA5CC19F3-0BC6-4DB3-9CB9-CA0BAB25A54D.jpg

Off to see Lights, Motors, Action however when we get over there we realize that there are no shows going on or about to start anytime soon. Turns out we read the time schedule wrong and shows don't start until later in the day on Tuesday. We ran into Mater and Lighting McQueen on our way over to the Making of Narnia. I loved how you actually go to go through the Wardrobe, I also loved seeing the White Witch as I love my villains.

We then hopped right next door to One Man’s Dream exhibit. I have been inside the museum part but never got to watch the movie as everytime, I always just miss the start of the movie when I get to that part and don’t feel like waiting around. I really enjoyed the movie part and seeing the old clips, I'm glad I finally got to see this.

Next we were off to Lights, Motors, Action I really enjoy this show, last year I got to sit in the bottom section but this year we ended up sitting in the upper section. This collision of themes really sticks out at me. Disney is normally good about hiding different things but when they built this theatre you can really see the Sorcerer hat, Chinese Theater and Tower or Terror, which IMO just don’t fit with the French city theme, but whatever.

Next we were off to the Backlot Tour, which we were part of the pre-show last September,
http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/A0/2E/5F/iA02E5FAF-C375-4D60-B661-6441A4536DB7.jpg
however this year we were not selected to be the boat crew.
http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/D1/9C/B6/iD19CB639-1195-4DA7-98A9-9DF324C8A878.jpg

Somewhere in here we ate lunch at the Backlot Express. I didn’t take any pics or anything as it was so crowded and we had a heck of a time finding a seat, our food was pretty good though, despite the many bad reviews it seems to get.

We went and saw the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular, they kept telling us the theater was full we can’t gurantee you seats, as they had already let a bunch of people in. We ended up getting seats on the left hand side of the theater. I think they told us that so they could keep us outside of the theater so they didn’t overfill it. I hadn’t seen this show for a few years. I enjoyed it, but was afraid they were not going to be able to finish it was thundering.

We next trucked our butts over to the Hollywood Tower Hotel, this is one of my favorite rides. However due to previous motion issues on this trip as a side effect of my antibiotic I was extremely leery of riding it. I did ride it and was ok, but did not feel right after getting off of it. Due to not feeling well from this ride, I never made it onto Rock and Roller Coaster on this trip.

We went to see the Beauty and the Beast show, it is one of my favorite shows at WDW. Four for a Dollar performed before the show and like always they did a fantastic job. On to a great performance of Beauty and the Beast.

At this point we had over an hour to kill before our ADR at 50’s Primetime Café. We considered riding Rock and Roller Coaster but the line would have been pushing it. Instead we pulled up some curb and watched the Disney Stars and Motor Cars Parade.

Onto our dinner at 50’s Primetime Café, which I hadn’t been at for at least 10 years, I remember being there before however my Brother did not. We tried to cause trouble such as putting a hat on, or not eating the veggies or putting our elbows on the napkin on the table. My brother drank his first drink very quickly so he ended up with 3 more at one time.

For dessert we all had Dad’s Sundae

After our dinner we went and did the Disney Animation thing. Mushu is another of my favorite characters so I enjoy the animation part and learning about how he was going to have 2 heads and other things. We did skip out on the drawing portion as we wanted to get to Fantasmic, although we did this later.

We sat around and waited for Fantasmic to start, the required wave was done and the show was great.

We got up early to go to the Magic Kingdom, I think it was EMH for those who had young kids but we went anyways and there were no little people in our group as we are all 5'8" and taller. First we started with breakfast at the All Star Sports food court. I had mentioned before about having side effects from my meds. When I got up this morning I had a rash on my face, arms, legs and top of my feet. I think it was some sort of sun poisoning or something but really am not sure. At breakfast I also felt really nauseous and was horribly congested. I did walk around the resort as the others were eating their breakfast to see if it helped with the nausea and it did. Here are some of the pics I took.

We then hopped in our car and drove to the ticket and transportation center, from here we hopped on the monorail and off to the Magic Kingdom.

I have been to the Magic Kingdom more times than I can count and have never seen the Main Street opening show. All of the Main Street vehicles were lined up in the middle of Main Street. This was a first for me   although we didn't watch the whole thing as other wanted to go ride rides.

My family always tends to head straight for Adventureland and the Jungle Cruise in the Magic Kingdom, why I really don't know but that seems to be something that we normally do. However we get to Adventureland and the Jungle Cruise isn't open neither is the Enchanted Tiki room, or Pirates of the Carribean. The only thing that is open is Aladdin's Magic Carpets, the other stuff doesn't open till 10am. This all because the EMH hours are specifically for younger kids so the other stuff isn't open. It is almost 10am but my Brother and I decide to ride Aladdin's Magic Carpets as there is hardly a line. We got on the next ride. This ride was another first for me. It was fun and I got to see some things I had never seen before due to the new perspective of being in the air.

As it was now almost 10am and a line was starting at the Jungle Cruise we hopped in it. We faced the hippos, the gorillas finally got my truck to turn over, we saw the backside of water, the elephants were wearing their turnks so we could look, and we could have traded our head for Ned's and came out ahead.

From here we headed to Pirate of the Carribean, this was what I was most excited about because of the refurb. POTC is one of my favorite attractions and I loved the new additions. I love these chess guys that are stuck in a stalemate neither player can move. :thumbsup2

Next went on Splash Mountain which is my favorite ride at WDW. This was the first time in a long time where we didn't get stopped anywhere on the ride. :thumbsup2 Everytime I ride and take a picture coming down the mountain it is always cloudy, although this picture was better than some.

We then went on Big Thunder Mountain, I only took one picture and it was pretty crappy, by this time the tops of my feet felt like they were on fire anytime we were outside, this continued throughout the trip. I was wearing Teva sandals and the heat on the tops of my feet was awful and they itched so badly, I guess due to the rash. I also felt slightly nauseous again after riding Big Thunder Mountain.

We hopped on the WDW Railroad and got off at Toon town. We just quickly walked through.

We made our way to Cosmic Rays. We split two Rib and Chicken combo platters and still ended up throwing some food away as it was too much. This was definitely the best use of our counter service credits, the Rib and 1/2 chicken combo platter was about $13 apiece plus drink and dessert.

From here we headed over to Philharmagic. I'd always wanted to take this picture and thought with the seats we were in at the back of the theatre I was going to be too close to take the picture but I wasn't.

First I needed my obligatory picture with Goofy. One of the Disney Design Addict or DDA members June Legalslave had had her picture taken here on her last WDW trip. At the time of my trip she had been very sick with what they thought was pneumonia. All the DDA members had started having their picture taken their before she was sick as she had a picture of herself with the statue in her signature. Well after I returned from my trip she was diagnosed with lung caner and passed away and never made it on her planned WDW trip. :sad1: :sad1:

Then we went to the Haunted Mansion. By the time we were finished at the haunted Mansion, the sun was starting to set. We went and rode Peter pan's flight and then saw Philharmagic again. At some point during the day we rode Pooh's great adventure and Snow White's Scary ride, but I can't recall when. thats what happens when you wait several months to do your trip report.

At this point we should have already claimed space on Main Street for Spectromagic, almost called it the Electric Light Parade. Although we did not, instead we rode the carrousel, it had been a few years since I rode the carrousel.

We now headed towards the packed Main Street to find some curb space. We have seen Spectromagic many times it wasn't a big deal if we didn't have an optimal viewing area. Although we ended up finding a pretty deccent spot, although I would have really have liked to move the empty 2 seat WDW rental stroller out of the viewing area so that we wouldn't have been so crowded.

We split up after Spectromagic, I ran for the restroom as I wasn't feeling well, my brother ran for food, and my Mom went for drinks. We found a new spot further up Main Street in the middle of the street for Wishes.

Thursday, August 17, 2006

So I got up and this morning not only did I have a rash all over my body, everytime I washed my hands, they would like they were on fire. I was pretty miserable but got up anyways as I was at WDW and knew I would have a good time no matter how I was feeling. We went to the food court and my Mom and brother got in line to get food my Dad and I sat down at a table to wait till the food came. Well I didn't make it until the food came. Off I went running to the restroom. Where I the politest way to say it is I tossed my cookies. Now I was looking really pretty as I burst some of the capillaries right under my eyes so I looked like I was beat up.

I was still ready to go to the parks anyways as I was supposed to meet my Alpha Phi Omega brother Adam ath EPCOT. He works as a CM as a monorail conductor, he previously worked at Pop Century and Mission Space and Test Track. My parents really think it is best that we take it easy this morning. So I call him up and tell him I am sick and can't meet him. He is fine with that and we talk about possibly meeting up later in the day.

So off to my room I go where I watch some cartoons and take a nap. My Mom does some laundry, as we packed light only enough for a few days and not the entire trip.

I get up and we head to the food court again for food, I was feeling better and had a little bit of food to eat. We then head to Disney MGM Studios around 12:30. Like I previously mentioned they are doing special EMH and other things for small children. One of the things they are doing is having special performances of the Disney traveling shows. The one that is there while we are there is Mickey's Magic Show. You have to get tickets for the show, so we get our tickets and then we go to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire for one of the last days of shows. As always it is great, an 8 year old boy ends up in the hot seat and he and his Dad do well. :thumbsup2

Next we are off to Mickey's Magic Show. We wait in line a bit, they give everyone in line a Playhouse Disney CDrom. I later find out it has TV show previews and things for Playhouse Disney. Since we got in line kind of early we were in the 2nd or third row from the front and in the center. I do feel bad for people who were in the back as the floor where all the temporary seats were placed was completly flat. I thought the show was pretty good, I went into it thinking at was going to be very much for little kids and it could be for all ages. All of these were taken without flash.

So we got up today and headed to the food court for breakfast. Due to the severe burning pain on the tops of my feet the day before anytime the sun hit my feet I decided to wear sneakers and socks. :scared1: :scared1: I hate wearing closed shoes unless I have to, but I thought this was necessary as my feet really hurt. :sad2: The burning wasn't as bad but my feet still felt like they were on fire. I felt slightly nauseous this morning but not as bad as in the past so I ate some breakfast. We were off to EPCOT, our last park day.

We rode Spaceship Earth

In line we met a family whose kids hated rides. The kids ended up getting out of line and both of the parents rode the ride. The kids were probably 7 and 9. It wasn't just this ride it was any ride. They were really nice and we tried to give them suggestions of things to do that weren't rides as their kids didn't want anything to do with them. :confused3 :confused3 When we got off of Soaring we ran into the 2 boys, their parents rode before we did, they asked if we knew where their parents were, unfortunately we did not. We directed them to a CM. Later that evening we saw the whole family again and the boys had their World Showcase masks they thanked us for making their day at EPCOT better than their day at the Magic Kingdom as the kids wouldn't ride anything there.

From here we went and rode living with the Land, unfortunately we could not understand our CM.

But first I needed a potty break, now why do I remember I needed a potty break at this time so many months later. As I was pottying, my family apparently had some special interaction with Koda and Kenai from Brother Bear. They came up to them and started interacting with them, of course I had the camera in the potty with me. By the time I was finished as there had been a line, what women's room doesn't have one?? The bears were at their greeting location with a line.

We didn't spend much time in the countries as we had planned on being in EPCOT of Thursday morning/afternoon which didn't happen since I got sick.

We get to Spoodles and the computer system is completly down at Spoodles. So the CM's must call to dining to see if we actually have an ADR. They give us an vibrating pager and tell us they will let us know when the table is ready. I feel bad for the CM's as the have to constantly call to see who has ADR's as they don't have a list and the chefs have to get used to having things written on paper. They all are truly in the Disney spirit despite the computer issue.

While we are waiting for our table I go exploring the Boardwalk. I end up in the Wyland gallery I  his artwork.

Norway
So we waited forever in Norway to ride the maelstrom, it broke down they would get in running and it would stop again. Eventually we got to ride it, we ended up missing most of Illuminations, which was alright as we had already seen it on Monday. But we did see the ending of it as we were walking to the front of the park, to ride rides for EMH.

We then went to the front of the park camera shop to pick up our 2 free prints from having a Disney Visa card, as my Mother was convinced they would close early.

From here we went and rode Test Track and the mild side of Mission Space, as I was not risking getting sick due to all my previous motion issues on this trip as a side effect of the antibiotic.

We rerode Soaring and Living with the Land.
It seemed bizarre to me at night that you could see the dark, even though they had lots of bright lights on.
http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/BC/AB/41/iBCAB4122-CE54-4A99-AB4F-CDA6B74A635F.jpg

It was now almost Midnight and the park was closing soon. We were all pooped, although we did consider getting in the 1 1/2 hour long wait for Soaring so that we could reride it again. Instead we headed back to our hotel to crash.

Although we made one quick photostop. I had always has this brainy idea that I wanted my picture taken of me laying on the lighted pavement in EPCOT, it didn't work too well although I think it would have worked with a tripod and I only had a mini tripod perhaps another trip. We tried the flash but than you couldn't see the pavement lights.

Since we were out past midnight, due to EMH we slept in late. We got up and had some breakfast. We went to the Character Premiere Outlet, we also checked out some of the other outlets. We got some great deals on stuff, alot of the stuff we got was from the Happiest Celebration on Earth, which was still going on and most of the stuff was less than half the original price. I got 2 Hapiest Celebration shirts (which are both already too big although they fit when I bought them) and  , a Black Disneyland Happiest tote bag(I wish I would have bought more than one as it is my favorite tote bag, I love the size, a coloring book, some playing cards and some other stuff for about $40.

From here we headed to Downtown Disney, at Downtown Disney I was originally supposed to meet some friends from college for lunch. Well they got stuck in traffic and were running late so my family ended up eating at Wolfgang Puck Express, our food was very yummy. As my friends still hadn't arrived we started traveling around downtown Disney. We were in the Days of Christmas shop when my friends called. I met up with Renee', Charley, Rusty, and Nathan. Unfortunately we did too much yapping and I didn't get a group picture of everyone and didn't take many pics, most of these were before I met up with everyone.

I met up with my family and we drove over the Wilderness Lodge, we were slightly early so I walked around taking pictures. However this got me in trouble with our waitress  as while I was on one of the higher floors taking pictures I got a phone call saying our table was ready and I wasn't around. She gave me a hard time since I wasn't ready when they were ready for us, it was just the start of the fun that was too come.

We were seated at our table and given our menus. The fun had begun, my brother and I knew some of the fun stuff they might do, on the other hand my parents did not. Although this was there most talked about dining experience of the trip. :teeth: I almost did not go, as I was seriously considering going over to the University of Central Florida, my college alma mater with my friends for the knighting of the new UCF Marching Knights, they have a special ceremony in which the new members become full blown Marching Knights and I would have loved to have went as I could have seen many more of my friends but I decided to stay at WDW as I was not sure how I would get back to WDW if I went with them. The Marching Knights are an organization that is very near and dear to my heart as I spent 4 years marching with them and this was their final season marching in the Citrus Bowl as next year they are getting in on-campus stadium.

Sorry for the sidetrack, back on topic at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Somebody pass the Ketchup, I need a yellow crayon, pony races, napking twirling, two birthday guys having to ride the stick ponies around the restaurant and sing Happy Birthday at the top of their lungs as they didn't want to have the wait staff sing Happy Birthday to them. They turned me into the Statue of Liberty and my brother got a double milkshake with 2 straws attached to each other as he wanted to see what would happen if he finished his milkshake very quickly. He was hoping they would bring him a huge one like they bring of sodas. Although the device they created did not work.

We also finished off the rest of our snack credits, we got several bags of chip and Dale snacks, and cookies and rice krispy treats. We had trouble though as we were trying to use too many snack credits at one time. They figured out the problem and we were on our way with our goodies.

Since we were unsuccsessful in our mission as we were going to get sandwiches and things to go at the Boardwalk bakery but they didn't have what we were looking for and the food place at Beach club didn't either we drove back to the All Stars resort.
We wanted the prepackaged stuff and neither place had it, I am sure they could have wrapped stuff for us but we didn't want to bother them. We wanted the food wrapped as we had leftover counter service credits and we were taking the food with us to the airport to eat before our flight at 3pm.

My cat Penny was uber excited to see us, she wouldn't leave me alone as I was trying to upload pics, so she got a close up

After my trip the next day I headed back to work and started my graduate classes in Nonprofit management, hence the reason it took me so long to finish my trip report. I was also diagnosed with reflux which is most likely where my "ear and sinus" problems came from as those symptoms pretty much went away after I was on rerflux meds.

My next Disney trip is hopefully 2 back 2 back Magic Cruises next September, yep 14 days on the Magic. If not the 2, hopefully I will be able to do 1 of the seven day Magic cruises but I am currently booked on 2 from September 8 to 22.
