View Full Version : Which Room Size For Vero?

We are going to Vero Beach for 4 nights in October and I originally booked an ocean view inn room. Now I am thinking I should book a one bedroom.
My sister and I stayed in a one bedroom in May and we loved all the space. This wil be my Dh first time to VB, so I was thinking a guaranteed ocean view would be better. But now I am starting to think about the kitchen, the washer/dryer, and all the extra room.
So which would you choose: an ocean view inn room or a one bedroom? :confused3

you will be on the beach enough and the view is overrated. Go with the 1BRD as it gives more space when you are in the room. JMHO :thumbsup2

The one bedroom is really nice if the weather isn't so great one day - lots of room to spread out! :Pinkbounc

We had a 2br and our balcony overlooked the parking lot and road. I was so jealous of my friend's Ocean View Inn room I swore that's what I would book next time. How many are in your group?

Just my Dh and our 2 girls age 5 and 10 months. When my sister and I were there in May we got a first floor 1 bedroom. It faced the ocean, but being on the first floor, we could not see anything of course.
I am just thinking that the 1 bedroom may be more impressive to my hubby. I would really like to add on there - enough to be able to get a beach cottage every other year for a few days. It will really depend on him enjoying the place. The rooms are so much bigger than BWV (what he is used to) I think he will love that.
But then the ocean view off our balcony from an inn room.........

You really can't go wrong either way. I just loved sitting out on the balcony in the Inn. But with 2 little ones it sure would be nice to have the extra space and kitchen/laundry facilities. Of course, with the points saved if you went with the Inn room, just imagine what you could do :Pinkbounc

How about 2 connecting OVIRs? We did that last trip and it worked well. For us it was so great lying in bed and watching the ocean. It is a request so it is a little risky going that route.

We stayed in a one bedroom last year and I highly recommend it. We were able to have most meals in our room at our convenience. Great for a beach vacation. Now, at disney, we eat out most of the time.

Sounds like you didn't make the right requests (upper floor and lockoff). We had a lockoff 2Br on the top floor of building 12 earlier this month - huge amount of space, incredible ocean views and lots of privacy. I agree that the Inn rooms are heavily overrated - views aren't always that great, and the lack of space stinks if you have a family party. The whole point of buying into DVC is to not have to accept a generic hotel room!!!

Well, let's not assume that I didn't make requests because I did. Surely you realize that request or no request, they actually put people in every available room whether it meets their requests or not. So getting a guaranteed Ocean View Inn room is the only way to guarantee an Ocean View. I thought the Inn Room was surprisingly spacious, and had the studio amenities of fridge, microwave and coffeepot. Since my whole point of buying DVC is obviously quite different from yours, an Inn room can fit my needs quite nicely for some vacations.
So, depending on personal preference, either option is valid :thumbsup2

I am assuming (you know what that means!) that the lock-off and dedicated 2 bdrms are a reservation type not a request like the other DVC resorts. From what I understand I think the dedicated units get the worst view of the two. I think they would be at the last units at the tips of the 'U' (six for each building) getting more of a parking lot view then an ocean view.

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like we will be doing both. 2 nights ocean view inn room, 2 nights 1 bedroom. I am not thrilled with splitting on such a short stay, but I really want DH to see the 1 bedroom and they don't have it available for the first 2 nights. At least this way I will be able to let DH do both and hopefully he will fall in love with the resort!
