I started another fridge swap. We are going 9/9 to 9/19. We'll have a rental vehicle and we can stop at Walmart on the way in late 9/9. Anyone want to participate?

I considered buying a fridge (the smaller one) for about $50 for our 10 day stay but then I didn't know what to do with it. I can't see myself just leaving it in the room.

So, who wants to get in on #6? See above thread or PM me-

I was in another fridge swap but not sure if it's gonna work out. Only problem is I'll be there 9/2-9/9 (only one week to go! :banana: ) I'm flying and won't have a rental car. :(

Ugh! I keep seeing these posts too late. I would definitely be interested, but it looks like you already have a taker for at least part of my trip. We'll be at Pop 9/23-10/2. I'd be interested in taking it after the 26th!

Okay-I checked out the refrig at Walmart yesterday and I think the 2.7 one is the right one. It's about the same size as POP rents (actually I think it's a little bigger-it has room in the door for 2 liter bottles) Also it only weighs 48# while the 4.0 weighs 77. I can move the smaller one so moving it around will be easier than the larger. The 2.7 costs about $100 (4.0 is $130) .

So I've decided to get the 2.7-It's plenty roomy enough for milk, drinks, fruit, and those DDP leftovers.

So far we have

Dizneydaz 9/9 to 9/19
Brymolmom 9/19 to 9/26
Amerberry 9/26 to 10/2 (waiting on confirmation)

Hey Dizneydaz- Does this frig have a freezer section? Just wondering if we'll be able to freeze some water bottles!

Amerberry- We leave at noontime on the 26th - so you can have it in the morning before you leave for the park that day. That at least gives you mostly a full day on that day.

It does. According to the info on Walmart.com it has a half width freezer compartment with an ice cube tray. If you want to check it out it on their site it's the Haier 2.7 Cubic Ft Refrigerator & Freezer, White. I'll go to WM today or tomorrow and see if I can get someone to open the box and check out the actually size of the freezer. Since it says "compartment" I would think that it would be larger than an ice cube tray-I'll let you know for sure, if not, we can always get the larger one.


What time are you arriving on 9/19? Our flight doesn't leave MCO until 2:30.

Unfortunately, we won't be there by then - we get in around that time but with ME we likely won't be at POP until 3:30 or so...

I guess we'll have to ask them to store it. I'll give you all my guest info so that you can put it on the container. I'll send you my money ahead of time.

I don't think we need a bigger one. This one is fine. And hopefully the cost will come down with more people coming aboard.

I don't know but it sounded like a good idea to me as I was thinking of getting my own refrig anyway (we are there for $10 days and paying $100 for a room rental was more than I wanted to spend). I think it could work out very well. Since we are going in 13 days and we'll have a rental vehicle it'll make it easy for me to get the frig. without worrying about shipping, etc. I'm assuming others have done this before, but if not, I think it's a great idea anyway! :cloud9:

After some discussion, it was decided that DISsers will be permitted to post threads on the Budget Board in regards to Refrigerator Swaps. BUT, everyone involved must be aware that the DIS, or any person involved with the DIS, shall NOT be liable for ANY problem(s) that may arise from these swaps.

Please consider this before starting a Refrigerator Swap:
Unlike the Stroller Swap where the strollers were donated and NO MONEY exchanged hands, when people are "paying" for something (even a nominal fee), they expect something in return for their money. If problems arise, they want someone held responsible, naturally that could end up being the Swap Organizer.
Unlike the sharing of Specialty Cruises where money is generally not exchanged until the time of the cruise, and if someone does not show up or the cruise is cancelled, there is no money lost, this has more of a chance for something to go "wrong." Refrigerator could be lost, stolen, broken or for whatever reason the "Swap" does not take place ie: misunderstood communications, a last minute cancelled trip, etc. - who will see that the "Swap" continues with the NEXT person on the list? Again, when money is concerned, expectations are higher, and these things should be carefully thought out.

We suggest that the “organizer” of the Swap set up rules pertaining to that particular swap and see that everyone involved be informed of the rules and agree to them before participating in the Swap. We suggest that these matters be addressed in a Attention: Re Refrigerator Swaps!
