for my first reservation with DVC, I give them the dates and type of rooms......do they figure out point totals and bank/borrow figures or do I have to have that handy???
Also, once reservations are made, I get a confirmation letter.. On it will there be total points used as well as remaining balance???thanx...

It's best to know ahead of time your own point totals. How many points for this trip and how many points you would need to borrow, etc.

MS can figure it out for you, but IMHO it's better to know it yourself ahead of time.

Your reservation confirmation will indicate the resort, room type, arrival date, departure date, number of guests, date of trash/towel service, your room requests (non-smoking, etc), and how many points are being used for this stay. It will not indicate anything about your point balances.

I always keep a running balance much like balancing a checkbook. When I call (actually usually be email), I tell them how many points I have in each account, how many I expect to be using and the end result in points accounting. I specify whether any points are banked or borrowed and which points they are to use. That way there are no misunderstandings and since I do most of this by email, I have a record.

Erick, when making your room requests, remember that they will be honored as much as possible beginning with the first item on the list. For example, your requests might be non-smoking, upper floor, water view, building 26.

In this case, your first priority is non-smoking.

If your request instead said upper floor, water view, non-smoking, then MS would go for those requests in that order. If it turned out the last upper floor, water view room available was a smoking room, then that's what you'd get.

Make your most important request first, and your least important request last.

My DH (SJCDave) has written a program where you can track and plan your DVC vacations. If you would like to download it, http://hometown.aol.com/dmfredrick/Download.html it might be helpful. Congrats on the add-on.
