We just made a cash reservation at HH. They just asked for a credit card. I don't think they charged it though. You have up until 5 days prior to cancel without a penalty.

I have a cash reservation for three nights at VB after our four night points stay at BWV in January. This was made through MS with the 25% DVC member discount applied. No credit card number or other deposit was requested when I made this ressie.

We had a cash reservation last August. MS said no deposit needed, just pay when you check in.
