Just bought one of these at my local Circuit City. It holds up to 40gb of pictures, which means if I can get 810 photos on my 2gb memory stick (in fine mode), this should hold 16,200 pictures right? Does anyone else have one? Do you like it? Is it good? Can this go through the x-ray machine at the airport without the data being corrupted?

An xray machine will not harm flash memory. What did you pay for it?
Seems like a cool idea but I don't know if I can even fill up my 4gb memory card on a 10 day trip, that's like 1600+ pictures! (And I have a laptop to pass them over to worse comes to worse)

$149 at Circuit City (and got a rebate too, although I cannot seem to find that at the moment).

I take pictures of everything, especially at WDW. Went to the beach for 2 days with family and filled my 2GB stick completely, plus some on another stick.

I don't have a laptop, but may use one at one of the resorts to burn these on a couple of disks, just as backup.

Yes, it will be fine, Terk. Looks like a nice unit. I have something similar, a Western Digital 80 gig mini USB drive, works well.

Thanks for the input. The salesperson seemed very knowledgable and positive about this model, compared to another unit they had. My biggest concern was downloading everything, going through security, then finding the unit blank when I got home.

XRAY is fine.
But those metal detecting wands put out electroMAGNETIC pulses, which will erase data. so do not put it in your pocket while walking through the metal detectors...

Thanks for the tip. Am planning on just putting it in my backpack with my camera, which would go through the regular x-ray machine as a carry-on.
