...Kinda like Captain Jack Sparrow was *almost* on the island with the natives in POTC2.
So...I went over my friend's house tonight, and we watched a "pirated" (HAHAHA OH the PUNS...I can't handle them!) version of POTC2. This was the FIRST TIME I had seen the movie...and I had to leave halfway.
And you know what?
I didn't even care...
I found the movie to be dull, anti-climactic, and just kinda going on and on and on and on. Now granted, I only just got to the "hide the rum" part where Elizabeth finally encounters Jack...AND, I usually change my opinion after seeing a movie a few times. However...I don't know. The way everyone was ranting and raving about it, I was expecting much more talent, much more action, much more meaningful story points (meaning I found the whole island thing to be quite pointless and just a waste of 20-30 minutes...as "funny" as it was), and much more lovey-dovey interaction. To be quite frank, I found it boring.
So...discuss...

"I give YOU 100 props for not only starting this thread...because I think you made excellent points in a very gentle way, stating your opinion, going against the grain...

::I'm not going to flame her, I'm not going to flame her. . .::
You are entitled to that oppinion. . .Maybe you should see the movie the entire way through before you judge it? There is ALOT more you have to see to understand the plot. . .I just know i love it. Plus I think Pirated films steal the magic. . .I think it's the shaking camera and the bad sound.

Just wait for it to come out on DVD and see it how it was meant to be seen. A clear picture with good sound. Maybe then you'll get more into it. Pirated movies are only good quality if they're a DVD Rip, and potc2 doesn't have one of those available. lol

Well- I loved the movie.
But I agree, there's not really anything in the movie to RAVE about. It wasn't THAT good.
It just had some good jokes, good cinematography & a good ending- if you want to call that an ending.
Before I saw it, I thought the 'Dirt' thing would be funnier, but if you weren't watching intently you probably wouldn't have caught on to the jokes.

I'll be honest at first me and my friend didn't understand the ending...we didn't expect it to end like that lol :goodvibes

I do believe some people brought it on to be bigger than it was. I didn't have to experience that, however, as I saw the movie on opening day. Perhaps had you not been exposed to over obsessed fans, heh, you would have expected a normal level of intesity and action thus making the movie a bit more interesting, to you.
I personally loved the movie. It made me laugh and to me, it seemed to pass by like 5 minutes.
However, because this is a trilogy, the climax doesn't have to be apparent until the third film. Why? Because if the climax took place in the second film, viewers would know that it can't go anywhere but down...so why watch the third? The second movie is used more as an amplifier lol. In other words, it builds up to what the third will bring. That is why I also believe it ended as it did.
To get the best of the movie, you would have had to see it completely and with a clear mind (no impressions of other's exaggerations lol)
I understand why you didn't find interest in it. I know lots of people who don't like it lol. :thumbsup2

It is REALLY scary how much you understand me! HAHAHA. But basically...exactly. Good point about the Trilogy thing too.
To defend my friend, the pirated version looked like it could be extremely similar to the original with only occassional slight delays in speech and a bit of a fuzzier picture (which is actually normal quality because Pirates is SO crisp.
I didn't hate it, I just thot it was dull-er.
And thanks Hiddenmickey:myantidrug :goodvibes

well first of all dont feel bad about watching pirated films, i get all the films pirated BUT i still see them first in theatres and i usually buy the ones i like on dvd anyways once they come out...so i dont feel bad....plus the rip of it out right now is missing like the last 10 mins so you would have missed the ending anyhow
but on to the next point IM SO HAPPY SOMEONE ON HERE FINNALY AGREES WITH ME!!! PotC2 was a bad movie to put it simply....it really was....during its premiere the critics ripped it apart and it simply amazed me that it did better then starwars!! how thats possible il never know but thankyou Princess Ash for being the one person on here that seems to agree!! :thumbsup2

and to comment on the pirated copies not being a good substitue...ummm you dont need a crystal clear picture with perfect sound to see that the movie is terrible...its terrible with or without the nice sound and picture quality.....also there is a realese out now that scored in the 8's on VCDquality.com which is pretty amazing for a CAM
