I was just reading my friend's engagement story on a wedding website. He stated that they entered the park and saw "Snow White's" castle. They didn't go through the middle, but instead went around to the wishing well.

I have never been to DL, but I thought it was Sleeping Beauty's castle. Have I been wrong all this time?

He must not have any Disney fans reading their website. The site has been up for four months and it has been incorrect all this time. Hmmm... should I tell him of his error?

Its definitely Sleeping Beauty's castle, but there is a Snow White wishing well area that is really cute. Maybe thats where the confusion came from.

Oh my gosh, I think I know who you are talking about because I frequent a wedding/newlywed website and there is a bride that says she got engaged at Snow White's castle by the wishing well. I didn't want to correct her because I didn't want to ruin her moment.

It is always called Sleeping Beauty's castle. However, Disney didnt make Sleeping Beauty until 1959, 4 years after the park opened. There is Snow Whites grotto and wishing well in front of the castle. I dont believe the castle was "anyones" when it was built, simply a castle. It became Sleeping Beauty's later.

Actually production on Sleeping Beauty began in 1951, a year after Walt registered the title, and storyboarding was completed by 1952. They had been discussing making it since the 30's though. (It took a LONG time to do animation by hand back then.)

Quite possible the castle was meant to be Sleeping Beauty's since they were working on that film when Disneyland opened. :)

Some of this info was mentioned in the commentaries on the 2 disc DVD set for Sleeping Beauty.
