My girlfriend and I will be traveling to WDW Oct 25- Nov 1 this year and I was just wondering if any of you have a good suggestion on a nice and quiet spot that would be "ideal" to propose in? I have been to the World 7 times in the last 10 years and am drawing a blank right now. Maybe cause of the stress !! Anyways, all suggestions are appreciated. thanks

I say during Wishes!!

or do you guys have a special place there? You could soemthing there if you want something more private

oops - I just reread your post - I missed the quiet part!! :rotfl:

What about on the beach at the poly at night during wishes? if you walk down a little bit - it would probably be pretty quiet and the fireworks would be a nice background

I was thinking of during the fireworks somewhere too. The beach at the Poly sounds great! I wonder if you could pre-arrange something where they would have a bench on the beach ready for you. Or a blanket with a picnic basket with champagne and glasses.

If you take the passage from Toontown to Tomorrowland that is very quite as well during the fireworks.

You could also get a PP CM invovled during Wishes and get it on camera.

They have even hid the ring in a slipper desert in CRT and had a PPCM there as well.

Front of the monorail or even the TTA will all be easy to remember down the road when asked.

my thoughts for unique are........
tell her to please wait in line in toontown cuz ud really like to take pix withcinderella ......... ;) and while in with the princess say...although you princess are lovely, I have already found the princess for me, and then get down on one knee and propose with a ring......u will be in a small room with about 6 other people and 3 princess altogether, my guess is the photopass guy will be shooting pix like mad!! then buy the photopass cd at the end of vacation!

i do love the front of the monorail idea, the monorail pauses for about 40 seconds with the castle in view on the way there, great spot to propose with just the driver there....and Ill bet u could ride around a few times afterwards if u just ask the cm driver after the proposal forit all to sink in and for the hysterics to subside! LOL :rotfl: Congrats!

do something really unique, Im a wedding photog and I always ask how the proposal happened and some stories are so boring.-in a parking lot, etc.....it doesnt have to cost a lot, just be memorable, trust me she will be telling and re telling this story for years!!!!!!!!!! be creative

I'd say by Belle's fountain next to the castle at a special time like during wishes.

There are also some cute, quiet little spots in Epcot that could be romantic.

What about the roof outside California Grill (at CR)? It overlooks the MK. The only problem is that if you want to do it during the fireworks show it will probably be crowded out there.

What resort are you staying at? Some of them have some really nice spots also.

OMG how incredible romantic!!! i always tear up during fireworks, if she is the same way maybe its a starting point, whatever you decide in the end will end up being special no matter , but if you ar in disney why not include some disney magic into it? does she have a fav cahracter? maybe talk before hand to said character and get them involved or if she loves say tinkerbell buy a plush tink and somehow attch the ring to the wand and say something like you sprinkled pixie dust on me for life and now i am doing the same hand her the doll and wait for the reaction..
whatever you do make sure you come back and tell us and show pics too!!1

good luck she is s a lucky girl!

I was going to suggest the same thing... it's gorgeous outside the California Grill looking out over the lake...

Maybe time it just BEFORE the fireworks... when it's a little less crowded... then she can attempt to watch the fireworks through tears of joy...

Please take notice that this is my first time there, but if the are having weddings there, why not in the wedding chapel or somewhere near it to propose? Just say you'd like to look it over.

Also go to the disney honeymoon & wedding forum and read there. Might have some good ideas!

Well, I just got off the phone with Disney and I think we have something figured out!
The lady on the phone said she would have to do some checking and get back to me on "our" little plan but she doesn't see why it would be a problem? Here's what we came up with

-Start with a 7:00PM dinner at LaCellier the night we get there (oct 25)
-When done with dinner pick out a nice choice spot around the lagoon for Illuminations
- Now here's the hard part.... She said we might be able to (for a fee) display the Proposal message on the Illuminations Globe?

I think that this sounds like a great idea, I just hope that she calls back to tell me it's doable and the price isn't too high!

what do you guys think of this?

I'm posting before reading everyone else's response......I know you said quiet, but what I suggest is...make ADR's for the Castle and request a table by the window to view Wishes. I would purchase a glass slipper from the Glass Shop on Main Street in MK and have your names and the date engraved. Have the ring inside the glass slipper and ask the waiter to bring it to your table under a covered dish during the fireworks. Good luck and congrats!!!

DH proposed to me in Epcot right before Illuminations. Theres a fountain in between America and Italy, actually if u look at the map its right across from Italy, u will see some stairs leading down and a fountain. He proposed to me right there at the fountain. It was about an hr before Illuminations started so there wasnt really anyone around except for 1 crazy lady who saw the proposal and she was like do it again! Lemme take a pic, LOL. So he proposed AGAIN, lol. Heres the pic:

I can tell you now. Its gonna be EXPENSIVE. DH looked into spelling out will u marry me through fireworks in MK and I think it was gonna be like $10,000. Trust me anything like this will be expensive. It maybe a sweet thing to do, but honestly, save ur money and use it for the wedding. Take it from me. I am a wedding planner. And weddings now days dont come cheap.

Disney8704, even though I agree that there is a good chance that it would be expensive, I still think he should wait for Disney to get to him. You never know, they just might cut him a deal - AND I would love to hear wat they quote him. Maybe he'll tell us tomorrow.

BUT! In case it is too expensive, I agree with the others - do it in Magic Kingdom. As long as it's somewhere near the castle, it'll be great.
Last year, I saw a proposal and even got a picture. It was in Magic Kingdom, on the bench where Roy Disney and Minnie Mouse are sitting. The photopass people were there tking pictures. The couple in front of me were about to sit down. She sat down first, but insted of him sitting beside her, he knelt in front of her, proposed, and the photographer got the whole thing. It was really nice.

Just a thought but have u thought of doing a carriage ride from one of the resorts that offer it? That would be a nice way to propose. You wont be able to get down on one knee, but hey its romantic. Or whatever resort ur staying at, find a nice peaceful spot. Or like others said. Do it in MK in front of the castle. Or if you can afford it how about either the Illuminations or Wishes cruise? You could do either one and like right in the middle of the show turn to her and propose. And you can always get the driver to capture the whole thing on video or take a pic. Also here is a link that might wanna take a look at. They do all kinds of different events including proposals in disney. http://www.giftsofalifetime.com/iloveyou.html

I would love to hear how much they would say it is to do the globe!!! I would never guess you could do this!!

I just hope that there aren't any other couples with your names!!! :lmao: some poor guy might get sucked into an engagement he wasn't ready for - although he would get lots of points!!! i always wonder that when I see names on the scoreboard at the stadium - what if more than one girl thinks she is being proposed to!!!!

Oooh, so many good ideas. DH proposed to me at the CR's California Grill, on the rooftop and during the fireworks. [And I was just excited that he surprised me with a trip to Disney!] There were other people around, I think, but they really faded into the background.

Really, any of these ideas would work and you're obviously a thoughtful and romantic guy. That said, I do admit to a fondness for a plan that allows you to have someone take a picture of the proposal while it's happening and/or directly afterwards. She might like the memento; it's the one thing I sort of miss. And there's a nice simplicity & elegance in the dessert/slipper presentation. That idea could be used or adapted, I would think, for your circumstances. Plus, that kind of public proposal might have the advantage of guaranteeing a photographer was around.

Of course, whether you want that public of a proposal depends on you, your intended, and your relationship. A public one really wouldn't have worked for me and DH; he is shy and was experiencing enough stage-fright without the pressure of a larger audience. And me, I'm just weird enough that I would have cracked inappropriate jokes; I can just see how I might have reacted to a public proposal. I probably would have blurted out something like, "But the baby's not yours!" as a joke to relieve the pressure. Yeah, that's me...humor in any situation. [For the record, I DIDN'T crack any jokes when DH did propose...but I did laugh. Out of delight and nervousness. Not everyone gets that about me. But DH does; I'm lucky.]

But more about you. As others said, if she has a favorite character or a special spot, that would be a nice marker. All the better if that spot or character already triggers an "our" place, an "our" movie, or a "relationship" moment. I also like the symbolic value of proposing in the MK, with a marriage that is fillled with fantasy, magic, dreams, that is filled with adventures and looks to tomorrow. Or at Epcot--with your desire to share both the World (showcase) and a Future with her.

Most of all, remember that whatever you do, she will love it because it comes from you. It's your relationship that's the most important thing.

Good luck and keep us informed!

Both myself and my brother were engaged in WDW. My husband did it at the lighthouse at the Yacht club, because of my affection for lighthouses. We were all alone, but I did break the pressure with humor of my own!!!!

When we got married, my brother bought us a brick that is located between the GF and POLY on the beach... he brought his wife there and proposed on our brick.

Good luck, and let us all know how the Globe at Illuminations works out!

Also, be sure for her to go and write down everything you said... I swore I would never forget, but of course I did, I am just glad I wrote it in a journal when we got back to the room and that I have that forever.
