Me me me!! Our trip is still in the plan for next year Aug!! If we can't find any deal on DLH, then we will stay off sight. I've been to DL 3x, but this was about 10 yrs or so ago! I am so excited!! I'm sure there's a lot of changes and now they have California Adventure! I hope we will like this park just as much as we like DL! My son 5 has seen the commercial on CA and he wants to go there and has been asking me about it!
Anyone else going next year? I know local residence who are "disney-nuts" goes every year. But anyone who are not local residence going next year? Where are you staying? When?

Be aware that there may be limited things at DCA that most 5 YO's will be able to do, depending on how brave or tall your child is. Most of the attractions have height mimimums including California Screamin' (48") , Maliboomer (52"), Mallahound Madness (42"), Orange Stinger (48"), Jumpin' Jellyfish (40"), Grizzly River Run (42"), Soarin' over Califronia (40").
I am resisting a trip next year, so I can save for our WDW trip in Dec 2002.

We are planning on going either at Spring Break or once school is out in June. We would like to stay on-site--but will look at the cost difference when it gets alittle closer. Anyone ever stay at Portofino Suites? Might consider a stay there or WestCoast Anaheim.

My son thought those rollercosters are cool. But knowing him, he will not want to ride them once he sees how big those rollercoasters are. I know he will get intimidated when he sees people screeming. But anyway...we won't let him get on any thing scary or anything rollercostar. I guess I need to do my homework on CA. If there's only going to be few rides, I don't know if this park will be worth it to us? We are not a rollercoster kind of family. We always like shows, parades, and tame rides.
Maybe what I will do is go to the book store and purchase the official guide to Disneyland and I will understand more about the parks there and hotels there. This is going to be a moment to remember cause it's been so many years since the last time I was there...so it's almost like being my first time again and to go to the new park CA, it is definitely will be my first!! And this will be the first for the whole family!!

There is only 1 real rollercoaster at DCA. The other one is more like a Mr. Toad outside. But I do think it is a good idea to your homework before making any final decision.
DCA is deffiently worth a visit but don't make it the focus of your trip.

We are planning on going during March of next year. Probably around the 16th. My son is 6 and will be less than a month shy of 7 when we go. He is really looking forward to going to DL and has heard about legoland and wants to go there too.

We're new DVC members and had BOTH unexpected banked points from the purchase and Delta airlines vouchers due to a bump off a flight. So me and DD are going to over Easter holiday break virtually FREE! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: We can't wait!!! We've never even been to the West Coast. Because of the points we're staying on site, splitting between Disney Hotel and Grand Californian.

We had planned to go back the first week of December to see the Mansion makeover, and the DLH decorations, and the snow on Main Street and........., but due to some health problems with our son, we'll be waiting until May. :)

We're going in February. Did a really quick trip last May and want to spend more time there. Booked into the Grand Californian and plan to spend 4 days doing Disney and 1 day going down to the San Diego Zoo.

Hmm...I figure since there's only two disney parks, maybe we will hit US Hollywood or maybe Knott's Berry Farm or maybe the Chinese Theatre or Sea World if it's not too far from Disneyland. We don't like to do too much driving if we are not too familiar with the roads. The last time we went to Sea World was about 12 yrs ago in Ohio!
Anybody else going next year? Next year is just around the corner!! I haven't yet bought my Birnbaum's Official Guide to Disneyland, I figured I still have some time. :)

Hopefully me! :) We'll stay at the Grand Californian Concierge (or go to WDW and stay at the Contemporary Concierge - it depends how much we want to get on that coast-to-coast flight! And, how the economy is doing to see if we can do an extra 3 night trip!)

Well Cali-D, we are not flying, we already plan on taking the train!! We haven't tried the train yet as far as trips goes except my husband. My son and I rode on it once, but the ride was way too short (we stopped at the next train station which was about 20 min ride) so this doesn't count! Anway...I think this will be a nice relaxing ride and we can "site see" the plains, the mountains, the rockys... If you feel you are not ready to fly, I would suggest just taking the train, it takes two days to get there.
Yep so far it's in the plan!! Yippeee!! As a matter of fact my husband rode the train to Las Vegas (he is there now!) and called me yesterday and said how much he misses us and that there's some family stuff to do there and that we should stop in Las Vegas on the way to Disneyland next year!! I will miss WDW though! :( There's just so much to see and so much to do! Plus you have tons of wonderful resorts to choose from!! Though I haven't been at DL in a long time, I hope I will like it as much as I did the first time. So when we go, this will be my 4X visit!! I have yet to do my Dec trip at WDW and already thinking about DL for Aug 2002!!

How's a maybe sound...
We have a two week trip to WDW planned in May/June (DVC), so DL may not be a possibility until 2003. We stayed at the GC in August and had a great time. I still might find a way to squeeze in a DL trip late next year... But I can't complain with a 2-week WDW trip planned!

WOW it has been so long since I have posted anything on these boards. My husband and I are travelling to Disneyland in February :D. It is my second trip to Disneyland, my first trip was in April 1996. My husband has never been.
We went to WDW October 99, had a wonderful time there.:earsgirl: It is a big trip for us because we are from Australia. I really wanted to go back to WDW but the budget wouldn't allow. But I can't wait for Disneyland. We are staying at the Anaheim Fairfield Inn by Marriot for 9 nights.

Us Too, Us Too!!!
High School Senior son will be graduating Boot Camp in SanDiego next summer, So what better excuse for the Kansas Farmers to make a trip back to CA? We're planning on driving, someting we did a lot of when my DH was stationed there 24 years ago. We lived in Orange County then, and did Disneyland every month! Can't wait to see DCA, think we'll stay onsite, just haven't decided where, although I hear lots about Candy Cane. We used to go to all the miniature golf courses that were around Disneyland 20 years ago. Boy I'm getting old!!!
Kids can't wait! (Neither Can I!!!)

Fantasia, we're going towards the end of next July. Although I have gone to WDW recently, I also have not been to DL in 11 years. My husband and I went as part of a whole California coast honeymoon. Now we are taking the kids with us. I am so excited and we will definitely be staying on site, probably at the DLH since my DD has fallen in love with photos of the Neverland Pool. Still working on final dates!

We will be going to DL the Thursday thru Wednesday before Thanksgiving next year. We went the same time in 2000 and had a great time. We went to WDW this year at the same time and I think I enjoyed DL a little better the previous year. It was before DCA so we went to Knott's Berry Farm and Universal. In fact, we had some Disney Magic at Knott's Berry Farm. We arrived about 15 minutes prior to opening. There was an older gentleman taking money for parking. We stopped and he asked my DD's thier ages (5 and 11 at the time) and if we there on vacation. He had 4 employees passes he usually gave to his granddaughters, but they could not make it so he gave them to my family. We were thrilled and very grateful. He just told us to have a great time and that he had been looking for a special family to give them to (a family who looked like they would really enjoy them). It was a magical moment and one my youngest daughter still talks about occasionally. The nice old man who gave us tickets to the park w/ Snoopy rides. :)
Yep!! :D Just picked the dates tonight as a matter of fact. Will be going for four days starting on June 27th :D :D :D
