Hi Gang
I have a simple request. I'd like you to take a bunch of panoramic photos at WDW. For those of you who are going to Disney or who are there now I'd love to get a bunch of great panoramic photos. All you need to do is this...
1. Stand in a great location in Disney.
2. Take a digital picture then turn and take a second and third and forth and so on. When you turn and take the picture make sure to get a bit of the previous shot in the current shot. Basically all you are doing is turning in a circle taking pictures as you turn.
3. Post your shots back to this thread.
Note: Sometimes it's better to turn your camera on end so you get more in the pictures.
What I (and anyone else on this board with the right software) can do is "stitch" the photos together. It looks really cool when it's done and I'll post back anything I create.
Also if you already have panoramic pictures please post them here too. I hope this thread takes off with some great shots.
Here's one I created on our last trip and the Swan/Dolphin.

Any Photoshoppers out there? 7.0 and I believe 6.0 will take multiple pictures and put them together into a panorama as long as they overlap. I have done it before with pretty good success.

Really fun photos -- guess I"ll try to get some shots for panoramics on my trip in Nov. (I keep forgetting to do that -- my daughter tried some with the videocamera, but had lighting and distance problems). I really want one of the hub area with Walt and Mickey in front of the castle (of course it's usually too crowded to see much). I've been meaning to learn :confused3 how to "stitch" digitals for years -- used to do it with tape and 35mm pics !!!!! :rotfl:

Hey Cheeky
You have to go to something like http://www.photobucket.com and create an account. It's free. You just upload your pictures into your account on Photobucket. Then you just create a link to your photo's in the posts you make here.
I'm using Photobucket and it works great.

Hi Belle16127
Just to answer your questions here.... :)
I typed in Panoramic Factory and did a search online. I founf a place to download a program is that wha you are using to do this??
I'm using Panoramic Factory from http://www.panoramafactory.com.
I have a Panoramic Camera and have some good ones from that but would love to try what you have done here.
Post your pics for now and I'll do the stitching for you. I'll post back the panorama(s).

All the pictures that I've taken, I've never used a tripod and they turn out great. From what I understand you can buy a small tripod that will fold up in the palm of your hand if you want to do this. I wouldn't worry about lugging a tripod to WDW the pics turn out fine without it.
Have a great trip.

Just checked at sam's club to see if they have a photo program that does panoramic "stitching," since my usual (old) program doesn't have it --they have at least two -- one about $80 and one about $50. Didn't get one to try yet -- want to be sure I actually get around to taking some of the photos first, to make a panorama. Those programs do lots of other things also (most of which my old program does do).

Hi TigerLaw
Your best bet is to just try it. The program I have works really great. In fact sometimes I'm amazed at what it figures out to match up from picture to picture. Just make sure you take good crisp (not blurry) pictures and you should do fine.
The only thing I've noticed is that you have to be aware of moving things (and especially people). For really good shots try and get things in your pictures as stable as possible. However that being said somethings you can create a really cool affect when things are moving too.
I've now taken tonnes of panorama pictures even around our home. Again try it out and play. You'll see what it can and cannot do.

They used to sell at WDW panoramic shots of the 4 parks that came framed or in poster form. We have the Magic Kingdom right at dusk down Mainstreet witht he castle its great. When we went back last feb to get Epcots they were sold out. I know my digital wont do that but some disposables come as panoramics too.

These are amazing! I'm going to have my DH check out this thread & the Picture of the Day thread before our next trip. I think he would love to take more 'unique' pictures. Thanks for the inspiration!

Here are a couple of photos I took on our trip 3 weeks ago. I screwed up not taking my tripod with me into the parks, but with the heat and the crowds I didn't want to get bogged down (gotta be able to dodge in and out of the crowds quickly).

Kaybird,
I love the 360! If I can display my ignorance by asking two questions:
1) Which program did you use to create the 360 panoramic? – and –
2) Do you have to use a special online host to display it online or can a regular photobucket account support it?
I also have a general question to those of you who have posted their panoramic photos – what program do you use to stitch your panoramics together? Even though I no longer use my Olympus, having graduated to a Fuji with a manual zoom, I still use CAMEDIA MASTER 4.0 to stitich my photos. I find now that I am not shooting with a camera with a specific panoramic setting when I go to stitch my photo together and I have properly overlapped the photos so that everything synchs up on the work space, when I stitch the photo (in both free hand stitch and auto) that I get seams and distortions? Any suggestions (mostly along the lines of inexpensive)?

Glad you like them, try to do a couple of new 360's each trip now. Don't know if Photo Bucket will Handle them, I have my own server. I use MGI to stitch, will let you do an automatic preview, an then you can correct it as you wish. an .ivr code and a java applet make the 360 work. Here is the Jungle trek, flat and the360 link (http://http://www.kansasvirtualtours.com/DIS/JungleTrek.html)

Sorry but I can't help you with specific stitching techniques.
I use Autostitch. It's really inexpensive. It's free. It does a really great job with panoramas. It not only does horizontal but it will also stitch your photos vertically as well - great for wide and tall shots in the same panorama.

Go to the bottom of the page and click on the download button. The demo version is ful functioning you just don't have access to the source code to change the program.

I love the panoramic look and think they would look great framed and hanging. I have made several throughout the years, but stopped because I couldn't figure out a way to print them affectively. I took a photo class years ago and the instructor showed us some really great panoramas and some fantastic 360s. She said the paper costs $60 to print the 360s. My questions is, Where do you buy your paper and what is your average cost?. I'm not even sure my printer would handle the odd size of the paper, but would like to try.

do you need to stand routed to the spot and take the photos, or do you need to move across/sidestep as you take each one to get propertions right?

I just ran across this thread for the first time so I'm subscribing
I found a website quite a while ago that lets you upload an image and will make a poster of it for you however many full pages wide you want (you get to pick the paper orientation too)
It's http://www.blockposters.com/ and it's completely free. I'd reccommend taking the pdf it gives you to somewhere that has a color laser printer so that you won't use up hundreds of dollars in ink and the pages won't wrinkle.

you can use your digital camera to take panoramic pictures, some have a setting so the light settings stay constant after the first picture and come with software that will stitch, but if you look at the top of this page someone linked to a free program that will piece together the pictures for you

Any Photoshoppers out there? 7.0 and I believe 6.0 will take multiple pictures and put them together into a panorama as long as they overlap. I have done it before with pretty good success.

We use Autostitch (http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~mbrown/autostitch/autostitch.html) for this. It works very well and it's free.

Is the software easy to use?

It's really easy to use. You basically start the program, pick the images that you want to stitch together and it does the rest by clicking on a button. Give it a try!!

Not bad for a first timer :thumbsup2
Just remember when you take each picture you need to overlap each shot with the previous one. The sofware does a good job of "stitching" the overlapping parts.

Awesome! I'm subscribing so I remember this thread when we got in October! I have some software that I am learning to use for my friend who is a Realtor. It's basically the same thing. I can do a 360 also on it, like for a visual tour!?!?! I can even add music! I can't wait to try it! Thanks for this thread!

Does anyplace print these out? Like Wally World or do they just live in your computer? I got a Cannon powereshot for Christmas and it had software that came with it that stitches pictures together.
