My usual grocery shopper (DH) is going to get in late today, so I'm raiding the freezer for something to fix for dinner. I decided on round steak, which I normally fix in the crock pot. Unfortunately, I don't have time for that & will need to bake it. I've never baked steak, & need advice. I'm putting it in a marinade I threw together now, which won't give it nearly enough time to marinate, but sometimes you have to work with what you have. :p Thanks in advance for any suggestions. :)

Nevermind! I already made it, & now I know what not to do. :p

I feel for you. I always make round steak into shoe leather.

When I make round steak I cover it with flour, salt and pepper and use my meat mallet on it...repeat on both sides. Then I put it in my crock pot, oven on very low or stove top on low and cover with onions, mushrooms and cream of mushroom soup if I have it. Adding the cream of mushroom soup helps to make a nice gravy for rice or mashed potatoes. Make sure not to overcook as it will get tough.

Yeah, shoe leather pretty much sums up my attempt too. :p I usually fix it in the crock pot also. I cut it into tips, then put it in the crock pot w/ cream of mushroom soup & diced onions or onion flakes. It's much better that way. :teeth:
