Just got off the phone with Disney. Switch my All Satr Sports ressie from my AAA discount to the AP rate and saved a total of $50.92. Old rate of $94.88 to a new rate of $89.22 (tax included in prices). I asked about the Wilderness Lodge, standard room and they stated they did not have any at the AP rate but I could get a courtyard view at $211 plus tax per night.

Ressie is for 9 nights.

THe dates for regular rate discount ($79 value) is 10-5 to 11-22; and the dates for value season discount ($59 value) is 10-1 to 10-4 and 11-26 to 12-23. It looks to me that this is not a flat rate discount, doing the math, its like 15.5% Not that great for an AP rate but i'll take anything! If a general code comes out that has almost the same savings, i'll switch to that and use the 450.00 i saved on extra souvies!

Ok this confused me for a sec. When i called i got less than 75.00 at AKL and i couldnt figure out why. Now ive got it - she quoted me the GF rate without tax, and the AKL WITH tax! I was getting mad thinking i got gypped! LOL i now have to go fix my other post.

You need to let folks know if this is for value season or regular season, since the discounts were released for 2 different seasons at the same time. This could get confusing for some folks today.

Regular rate season is 10/5/06 to 11/22/06.

That's too bad. I agree (though some folks disagree with me) that week is extremely busy (0r at least parts of that week are). We were there the first week of December during the Christmas taping and AKL was sold out...lots of VIPs there. Keep trying, plus when the AP website comes up, you can always do some searching there.

I found the SAME thing... first week of December was scarce of discounts. I moved our dates to the week starting 12/10 and found more AP discount availability. Even then, the discounts at the Deluxe resorts weren't that great. Last year, we were finding discounts of about 35% at the Deluxe resorts and this year the quotes were 20% off at best.

We are staying 2 nights 12/7-12/9 before our cruise...I have been calling and checkig the website for a few weeks as I hadn't booked a room yet. For the longest time nothing was avail at GF, Poly, CR or WL except the CR suites. (to the tune of $1800 for 2 nights) well the Poly GV opened up I called and snagged it at $315 RACK RATE for the two nights. I finally got through this morning and the CM said that the MK resorts were so busy during that first week that no AP rates were available for them and the only thing she could even find with an AP rate was CBR....I am pretty bummed but am glad we have a room - even if it is $315 a night, next year I am booking early!

No boomersmom the AP rate is stricly room only. However if you buy the AP you can get the Disney Dining Experience for something like 60.00 and that will save you a lot on dining.

If the Poly AP rate is $289 that would be.

7 x 289 = $2,023
2 AP's = 924
TOTAL = $2,947

That's more than the package so I'm torn. ALSO, I'm assuming $289 a night for the Poly includes tax - would someone please confirm?

Same results for me. After 40 MINUTES ON HOLD Staying 12th - 23rd only thing avl was CV at WL for $230. It came out to be about $70 more expensive than the package I booked yesterday with Disney Visa for the CV there. I figure the "more expensive" part was due to the fact that I would have to buy the AP and that is more expensive than the MYW + hopping + WP&M tics we have in the package.

I went and booked it. My savings will go down IF we decide to add the wanter n more option onto the park hoppers & then I'll need to get a premium AP.

But since we aren't using any dining plan, the DDE card should save us some $$$.

Well, just spent (25 minutes on hold) 30 minutes on the phone with reservations. It doesn't look like the campground is participating. Was looking for 12-02 - 12/16 at Ft. Wilderness, partial hookup and the rate he quoted me was HIGHER than my AAA rate.

I may try again later and instead of trying to apply the rate to my existing reservation, I'll just try for a new reservation and see if that makes a difference.

Looks like rates during Thanksgiving week for standard views are $115 + tax for CSR and $169 + tax for AKL. For those with experience with both (or either), is AKL worth $54 more a night than CSR (i.e. which is better deal)? Thanks

I got $70 off our 10/18-22 trip at POFQ--the original ressie was with AAA rate. The CM quoted some deluxes for me: AKL std savannah $250/night; CR MK view 345/night; YC 265/night.

I got the AKL for $302 (with tax) for TWO nights Dec 15&16
I am very happy with the savings!!!

Just for reference.......they said NO other Mods, WL, AKL, or VALUES for the 8th and 9th.
Also, no WL for the 15&16....I didn't check values.

I got my one night!!!!! Poly 10/12 - Garden View $325 inc tax

DD and I live in Orlando, so staying at deluxe resort is a treat (I CAN'T justify it too often!)

No school on Oct 12th or 13th, so it's a mini vacation. It will be so nice for leaving the party late - no driving home - even though it's only 35 min!!!!


Okay - now I'm set for the next few months -

1) 10/12 - MNSSHP with room and LTT for dinner & B-fast at Ohana's on
10/13
2) Thanksgiving dinner at Hollywood & Vine (unless I luck into a cancellation somewhere else)

On hold for 35 minutes and got exactly what I wanted. Pop standard room, during regular season (Oct.14) one night (before moving to WLV) at the $79 a night rate. Surprisingly the CM told me I also had a pin attached to my name for $84 a night, if the AP rate was not available, the pin rate was. Once she got the AP rate, I didn't need the pin rate. I got the guaranteed non-smoking as my only request. I had a great CM, so pleasant and confident of what she was doing. I was on hold early this AM, but had to hang up after 20 minutes because work got in the way. I leave tomorrow for WDW so needed to get this one night ressie taken care of before I left. I could've stay at any of the values since I was only there one night, but Pop was my first choice. Now I need an AP rate for a couple of days early February, so have a long wait for that one.

I got through too! I was on hold for only about 13 minutes! just got off the phone. I tried to change my rates for a ressie at WL for Dec 15-17- nothing was available. I was able to make a ressie for Dec 9-10 at AKL - Standard view for 134.00/night + tax

FYI- When the AP rate was unable to be applied to my ressie at WL, I asked if there would be more AP rates released throughout the day- and she said "absolutely!" So... if you don;t get what you need now, keep trying to call through the day! You may get what you need!!

I had PORS rack rate for 11/23-11/26 @ $155/night. Just applied the AP and moved over to CS @ $115/night!! Saved $120!!! Was also quoted for the same time $135 at CBR and $345 YCWV. Allstars Music was available but I didn't jot down the rate. No availability for PORS, POFQ, AKL, WL or CR.

Also...I put one in for 12/22-12/25 at Wilderness Lodge Standard View @ $134/night!! They have all the mods available at $99/night.

BTW My CM was Fawn and she was fantastic!!

The differences is occurring because the discounts are off two different seasons at the same time. It appears to be the same amount of discount, but since the rack rates are so different between value season and regular season it's hard to keep track. People travelling mid-October are seeing a low rate that someone mid December is getting, only to be disappointed when there savings is not that low for them. Remember is you book during value season, your rate will stay at value rate and if you book while still in regular season, your rate again stays the same. Sometimes booking two different reservations will help save money too when you are changing season, from high to low.

That first week of Dec. is the week they film the Christmas thing if im not mistaken. Very busy, and lots of celebrities taking up rooms at the Deluxes. Thats probably why its hard to get AP rates for.

I have to say, I've never found it particularly busy the first few weeks of Dec., but the celebrity thing has me excited! This will be my first stay at a Deluxe during that time... a celeb spotting would be icing on the cake!

If it were me , I'd go in early Dec. if possible. The week between Christmas and New Years is the most crowded time of the year. Plus, everything is decorated all month. I was there a few decembers ago the first weekend and it was really great!

Well I was on hold for about 25 minutes and tried to apply the discount to our reservations at the POFQ for Nov. 18th to 25th. There were no more discounts for that time. Also WL is completely booked for that time period. The CBR, POR, and CSR had rooms available at $115 a night. So I changed our reservations to the Coronado Springs Resort. Our previous reservations for two rooms costed us $2419.76, now with my AP discount the CSR will cost us $1811.00 for two rooms. Savings = $608.76 Awesome!!!

I just got off the phone with a very kind CM, but for our dates at the GF, the AP rate was almost $300 (total) than my AAA rate. But, I have a Honeymoon Suite, so maybe that was it.... :confused3

I stuck with my AAA rate...

It's not just you, don't worry. If you have one of the higher priced rooms reserved, the AAA discount is larger than the AP discount. It's because the AAA discount is a percentage off the price (in your case, 15%), but the AP discount is a flat dollar amount off. On the higher priced rooms the AAA discount is greater. DH called to see which way we would be better off for our room at the GF sugar loaf concierge, and the AAA discount was better for us than the AP rate.

I was able to change my AAA reservation and applied an AP discount for a regular Savannah view room at the AKL and saved $290.00 off of the AAA rate for a 10 night stay in December.

For those who are interested here are AP nightly rates for AKL for value season:

Standard Room: $134/nt
Pool Room: $159/nt
Regular Savannah: $214/nt
Deluxe Savannah: $279/nt
Concierge: $364/nt

When I called a few minutes ago it sounded like there were still rooms availabe in each of the above categories for the 2nd week of December.

You definitely don't want to switch to the week of Christmas. That is the absolute busiest time of the year according to all the Disney guidebooks and experts. We went in early December back in 2004 and had very light crowds the whole week. For the parade taping, only the MK was more crowded, and even then most of the crowd was on Main Street for the actual filming of the parade. We didn't find that the rides had long lines at all. Don't let the lack of discount availability scare you away from the 1st week of December.

I think it's just that concierge rooms are rarely discounted.

I had AAA discounts already and had no problems. I also just said I wanted to apply the AP code.

I don't think the Swan and Dolphin have AP discounts. I'm using the government employee rate. It started at around 175 a night, but by the time I was done upgrading to an Epcot view with a balcony, I was up to 250 a night. :rolleyes:

Haven't seen many people looking for our time frame so I'll post what they told me:

We're looking for 1 night only before our DVC stay at VWL. We needed Nov. 4 only. Nothing at all at WL. CR MK Guaranteed view was offered at $345. Poly completely unavailable. Was offered Lodge at GF in the mid $400's but not what I wanted.

Finally found standard at AKL for $169. That's $80 off rack rate during regular season. Booked it. Also asked about mods and she had CBR or POR (no FQ available) for $115. I didn't ask about Epcot area resorts but I might call back and check on those too.

Wonder if it's worth calling back again at another point to see if anything at WL has opened. It would be so much easier not to have to change resorts (beyond going from the hotel to the villas). Could just leave the bags w/ the valet and get them later on. Now we'll have to check out of AKL, bring the bags over and leave them for later if the room is not available.

Well, we've never done AKL so this will be a new experience for us.

I don't know exactly how it works with the Villas or DVC....but, usually....when you change resorts or rooms, you can call and have them pick up your luggage from your room and transport it to your new resort. You can even leave your luggage in your room and head out to the parks and they will transfer your stuff to your new resort without you having to be there.

When I called I got much the same thing, but Poly was sold out, on the phone and when I finally got through on the website. And the website only gave me water view at BW which was much higher than your number above. I really wanted the WL since we're following the one night (11/4) with our DVC stay at VWL like you are at OKW.

Speed, I knew that they would bring the bags over, but I have also heard of significant delays. Since we'll have a car, we can bring them ourselves, check in and leave them. I just wanted to avoid the hassle of driving to another resort. If I got WL, I could have come down to the lobby, dropped the bags, checked back in at the counter and been off. No big deal.

Spoke w/ dh and he's fine w/ AKL. Particularly since it's much less $ wise than the other deluxe options.

I just checked on some hotels, the mods actually, for that week. i do not have a disney visa, but wanted to be sure it owuld even be worth my while to try to get a general public discount. The only mods available that week are CSR and CBR. I checked 12.2-12.8. The savings from I was told, amount to $40 a night off the room . But it does have to be booked as a package. It still amounted to $270 off for 6 nights. Not too bad, I think.

The Visa Disney Rewards rate is already out, code ZBD. I don't think there will be a general visa rate, it'll likely be a General Public rate and not limited to Visa cardholders.

I just saved about $180 over my AAA discount at the Poly for 4 nights Nov. 15-19. Very happy about that. At first the CM said that my total would now be $974. I about fell out. But then he said "Oh, that was the total for your airfare". My total at the Poly is now $1301 and it was $1481 for 4 nights. I heard from my DU agent this morning and she was not able to get the AP discount for the WL for Dec. 6-13. I do have AAA rates. I have gone to WDW in early Dec. each year since 1992 and this is the first time in about 10 years that I haven't received a very good room discount. This is not counting the first couple of years when I didn't know about discounts. I think the secret is out that this is a great time to go to WDW. In the past it has been nice weather, Christmas decorations and light crowds, but it looks like the light crowds may be something in the past.

I believe it is a huge cheerleading competition. I think it is the first week of December and ends the 9th or 10th. I think that is big reason behind the reduced availability of resort rooms for that week.

I'm not very impressed with that deal. I have CBR at $110/night with a AAA discount.. I would hope that an AP would bring better benefits than that. :confused3
