When is Triceratops Discovery Trail expected to reopen?

Was wondering because we'll be there in 2 weeks and this is one of the FEW things my parents will enjoy doing at this park. Otherwise there really isn't much left for them to do here.
If they don't have this they might be disappointed a bit.

The last I heard was that they would not reopen until mid-December. Of course, that's subject to change, as anything is.

I always thought Triceratops Encounter was one of the best things in the park. Especially early on when they treated it as a guided tour at the actual Jurassic Park. One of the best touches in that version was the way the "guides" would give you a blank, puzzled look if you referred to the movie. "Movie? What movie?"

A lot was lost when they went to the cheaper faster walk-through version. Enjoying Triceratops Encounter involves some serious suspension of disbelief, and the earlier version helped put you in the right frame of mind. Even in the walk-through vesrion I found that with a little effort it was possible to truly believe you were standing in front of a creature that had been extinct for millions of years. (The only thing missing is the smell.)

I guess it's a sign of the times that unless it moves at warp speed or blows up, we find it "boring."

I can't help thinking of the Simpsons episode in which Bart attempts to escape from a boring class trip to a box factory thorugh his imagination but discovers that the only thing he can "imagine" is what's in front of him. "I guess it's true," he sighs. "Television really has destroyed my imagination."

excellent point Kelly. i never went thru this attraction in the early days. Guess i just hit it on the downhill slide. Now i do enjoy the DINO CENTER on the lower level. They could incorporate some of the dino center interactive items along the discovery trail and possibly restore this attraction to respectability:smooth:

This was definitely the highlight of our kids' visit to Jurassic Park. We didn't want them to be scared of "her" so we made certain that they all understood that she wasn't real, only a robot.

By the time we left the attraction all three of them (ages 4, 4, and 5) were convinced she WAS real, despite our protests!

Of course they are real-sadly, they have closed TDT due to the fact that Cera, Krys and Topper need to be back out with the herd. Shortly, Mr. Hammond will go out and find them again with the help of the Jurrasic Park Guide staff to bring them back for observation and vetting.

Cera, Topper, and Kyrs are the most tame-we are talking wild triceratops' here-they have been equipped with trackers for easier locating...
