Day 4:
Welcome to day 4.
Here I sit at the quiet pool of the Poly listening to the songs of a faraway places and faraway stories. I’ve forgotten all earthly woes and have entered the “Vacation Zone”.
Probably our most favorite day so far…at least my favorite. We started the day with breakfast in the room. Pastry in the room with coffee from the Kona Café, a real eye-opener. Then off to MGM!!
First things first. We rent a stroller and head straight to the store under the “Big Blue Hat”. We get our 5 special edition 100th Anniversary pins that light up when you touch them and go absolutely nuts during parades, after parades and on some rides. Definitely nifty and a real eye-catcher. Now, heres the the bad news. It seems that some of us…uh, I mean you, printed copies of the “buy 1 pin get a free internet pin free” certificate and gave them to our….uh, your friends. When we got there they were all out. (I am not kidding when I write the next lines). The CM, who was very nice, said “Don’t worry, we have more on the way. They will be here in about 3 months.” I don’t think that I can extend my vacation that long. Not a big deal that we didn’t get the free pins.
We headed down Sunset blvd toward TOT and RNR. We did both rides 2 times each with kid swap in less than 40 minutes. We could have gone on these two rides again and again with no wait but we had other fish to fry….or rides to ride. Next was Muppet 3D then MGM Backlot tour but before the tour as we head past Al’s toy barn, Woody and Buzz are out signing autographs. We were lucky enough to get their autographs before the tour. As we walk past Washington Square a small bus pulls up with about a dozen characters….all of which have signed our autograph books. I can’t leave this mob scene because Jackie is with Sara, going to the bathroom. I swear there were more people in that tiny square than in all of AK the day before. It seemed to take us forever to get through and over to the Backlot Tour. The tour had a 10 minute wait so at least we saved some time there. Then we hit Star tours, again less than a 10 minute wait.
Suddenly it was time for lunch. I decided to try the smoked turkey leg. So we got that and some fries and had a small lunch…we split the turkey leg and 3 orders of fries between 4 of us, my sister had taken my oldest son for a while so he could go on the TOT and RNR a few more times with his cousin. Very tasty and filling for a cheap lunch Disney style.
We then met up with my sister and watched the Disney Stars and Motorcars parade. Then we watched the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular. We all enjoyed the show but it seemed that my boys enjoyed it the most.
Next it was on to Hollywood & Vine for our Fantasmic Dinner package. The food was exceptional and the service was pretty good for a buffet. After dinner we wondered around a little and then headed over for Fantasmic. I there a bad seat in this theater? I think that the only thing that you gain for getting the dinner pkg is that you don’t have to stand and wait for a seat. Anyway, we got there early and I got bored so I decided to stand up and take some video of the crowd. I shouted “Everyone wave!!” Quite a few did but most didn’t until I said that the only TV this would be showing on would be mine. Even less hands stayed up. Fantasmic was absolutely dynamite. I believe I am running out of adjectives to describe WDW events. This was my sisters last day at WDW so we said adios and headed back to the Poly and the pool that awaited us.
Next: BOO!!
