View Full Version : To all the DIS friends on the 10/13/2001 Disney Magic Cruise

Well, we knew it would happen... :)

We finally got booted from the cruise discussion board thread, so I thought I'd go ahead and start a thread
here to keep our line of communication open.

I will be finishing the video of our cruise tonight, or at least by tomorrow. Expect them in the mail late this week. Again, I hope you enjoy it. It's mostly just clips set to music. Think of it as being a DCL commercial, and you're in it.

happylady, how are you feeling? Sure glad you didn't get that sick on the cruise. Be well!

Is everyone else ready for the holidays? I am still not in a Thanksgiving mood - too soon after a tropical vacation for me to feel like it should be almost Christmas, ya know?

Anyway, keep the posts coming, now that we have a new home!

Lemme bump it back up one time...

BeanoC ------ I so glad you started this! I can't wait to see our "10/13 DCL commercial". You are so talented! I'm trying to post some of our pictures to a web page and write a trip report. When done, I'll post to the trip page. I'm not very computer literate, so I'm struggling.

Thank you for your well wishes on my speedy recovery. I haven't been hit by a bout of the flu this bad in years. Luckily, Phil caught a very mild case, and Steven only had a sore throat for a day or two. I'm feeling much better now, not fully recovered, but better.

Well, off to work on the pictures and trip report.

I was waiting for our thread to close. I guess it had to happen some time. I can't wait to see our "DCL commercial"
Glad to hear you are feeling better Happylady!

I found you guys!
I knew our time was limited on the cruise board, but I'm happy we have a new home.:)

Beano- Do you have my address to mail the video to? I hope there's no conga commercial in the video!

Happylady- glad you're feeling better! We are so lucky this hurricane missed us!
Did you hear that the Wonder is heading to South Carolina?

I was thinking of going on the western in June 2003, right after DD gets out of school. I've had enough of the Oct/Nov storms.

This board is so active, this was already on page 4.

Legs22 - My DS asked when we are going again. He loved it (and so did we). Haven't even begun to think about next time...had to pay this time off first.

Hi all. I am bumping this back to the first page. I can't believe how many threads there are on this board.

BeanoC
11-06-2001, 03:04 PM
Wow - I am making this post within a few hours of Denine's, and the thread is already on page 4 !

I finished my video last night... who'd a thunk it would take so long to make a 19 minute video! :)

I will be making VHS copies tonight and putting them in the mail tomorrow and thursday. If you have a DVD player capable of playing Video-CD format, I can send you a copy on disc as well... let me know (Not all DVD players will play back the VideoCD format, so check your instruction manual.)

It's entirely set to music, without any of our blabbing included ;)

Just 5 songs to put you in the mood to cruise again... ENJOY !!

WDWGoose - I booked a Disney Magic cruise for Oct. 2002, cat. 3. Guess what I got?
Stateroom #8102 !! :) It'll take me that long to pay for it though! DW doesn't know I booked a cat. 3,
hope I can keep it from her until we board!

Videos went out in today's mail to:

I LOVE it!:)

I got to relive the cruise all over again. It gave me goosebumps. I want to go again, right now! Molly saw Castaway Cay and said "Look, it's paradise!"
I'm looking at May 2003 for the western cruise but I feel like I should go in Oct. 2002 with Beano because I've got to have a video of the western cruise too. It would be fun if we could all cruise together again. Many thanks to you, Beano, for this wonderful momento.

Hey legs!!!

SO glad you like the video - of course, I think you're in it more than anyone else, so... :)

I'm glad you got it - our Post Office was closed for a while because of - guess what - an anthrax scare

Well I guess everyone else will get theirs shortly then.

flyingcircus, where are you??? I have a video all ready to send you but I don't have your address!
You too, Firefighter Mickey!

Anyone else from our cruise that I missed, let me know and I can send you one if you like. So far they have been sent to:

Just got home from work and found a beautiful little box on my table from California!!:D I immediately riped it open and put the tape in our VCR.

All we can say is FANTASTIC !! We were so excited to watch and relive the cruise.

Thank you so much, Ben, for all the hard work on the tape. (And to Renee, for tolerating your passion). We will cherish it forever and show it to everyone that visits.:smooth:

Absolutely fantastic!!!
I want to go again now!
We are trying to persuade another couple to go with us in October. We are going to show this video to them next month when they come over. How can they say no after watching the video?
Thanks for a wonderful job and a wonderful keepsake!

Wow...

I can't tell you how good it makes me feel to see this kind of response from you guys!
I am SO glad you are enjoying the video so much.

Does anyone know where I can contact flyingcircus?? I'd love to send her a copy, but don't have her address. I sent her a pm on this website, but she hasn't responded to it.
Same for FirefighterMickey. I have a copy for him too.

Ok, WDWGoose and paulcrsb... what's your opinion of the video?? :) :)

I'm still hoping to hear from WDWGoose and paulcrsb - just wanna make sure they received their videos!

Happy Holidays, everyone.

Beano,
Jerry said that after watching your video and then the old ('99) promotional video, that your video made him want to go back on the ship more! He said you should sell it to Disney.

BeanoC
11-30-2001, 12:59 PM
Denine - Thanks for the compliment! However, knowing Disney, I have the feeling they'd probably sue me for copyright infringement if they saw the video! ;)

I still haven't heard anything out of WDWGoose, Firefighter Mickey or flyingcircus....

I sent 'Goose their video, but don't have addresses for the others. I hope I hear from 'em!

We've been home for more than a month already and I still miss the Magic!

I look at it this way - just 11 more months till we go again! :) :)

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!!

I didn't know this thread existed. I have been very depressed since they closed the thread from our cruise, I haven't visited the board much. I have checked occasionally for a new post on the thread for our May 2002 cruise, but no one is very talkative on that one. Now I can keep in touch everyone.

We did receive the video and I have emailed Beano to say Thanks. It really is AWESOME !!! Vanessa even saw some of her freinds that weren't from the board, how cool. I agree with Laura we need to all go again so we can get another video. Ben have you ever thought of doing this professionally?? I wish I could hire you to come in May and Video the cruise for us then.(on second thought maybe not we will be traveling without kids)

I hope everyone is busy getting everything ready for the holiday season - if anyone says they have already finished their shopping I will scream. I'm never ready early it spoils all the fun of the last minute rush. Huge crowds, no selection, everything on back order - well,... maybe I had better get busy.

Well I had better go I have 3 1/2 more literature assignments to get done and two weeks to get them done. I really can't wait!!!!! Graduation here I come!

Take care all

Hmmmm...... no kids on the next cruise. I guess you'll be bringing your own supply of whipped cream this time. :D You wouldn't want Beano jumping out of the closet with his camera to get that great shot for his next video.

What degree are you working towards? Is it in nursing or are you getting out?
Glad you found this board. :)

legs - Yes, I am in Fresno. Small world, ain't it? Rather be there in Florida, though!

Goose - LOVE the idea of the internet wine tasting LOL Can't you just imagine us all gathering 'round our computers, drinking wine and chatting?? Too funny. Congrats on completing your studies. :)

FireFighter Mickey - I will be making more copies of the video this weekend, after which I will send one your way... ENJOY !!!!

I STILL cannot track down flyingcircus!!! If anyone knows her email, please LMK... I owe her a video.

Also, I sent one to paulcrsb but haven't heard from them - hope they got it.

Ok, have a great Christmas, all. Hey - remember the note I sent with the video... I expect Xmas cards from everyone!! ;)

Hello from Paul and Pam,
It's hard to beleive it's going on 2 months since we were all partying together. We're still going to post the pictures we took at the wine potluck. Can someone tell us how to do that?

Wasn't Ben's video a fantastic memory trip? The pictures and the great sound editing brought it all back. We can't wait to go on our next trip. 10/14/02 Western, which we booked on the ship.

Our only regret is not visiting with all of you more. You're all quality people, and we won't forget you. Hopefully, our paths will cross again.

Thank you all for the memories!!!

Until we meet again,
Paul and Pam Crosby

Guys, I gotta tell ya I am almost literally walking on clouds from the responses I have gotten about the video.
That's what it's all about and I am THRILLED that it has brought so many smiles to "y'all"!!

You ALL owe me a christmas card - don't forget!!

To the Crosby family - You said you're booked on the 10/14 Western Magic... Do you mean the 10/12 Magic?? Or am I wrong on that date... We are booked for that cruise too, but I'd swear it was for 10/12/02. In any case we are on the same cruise again, so we'll see you there, video camera and all!!!! We have suite 8102 this time so I guess the party is at our place! ;)

Merry Christmas all...

Hi all,
Sorry I haven't posted much lately.

WDWgoose: Congratulations on your upcoming graduation. I went straight on to college after high school and got my BSN. You will be happy to have it behind you.

Beano: Your card is in the mail, if you haven't received it yet.

My Christmas shopping is done! I still have to wrap all the presents and make cookies.

wdwgoose
12-10-2001, 01:48 PM
I am jealous that your presents are done and wrapped, I thought that was how you spent the 23rd. (I would say the 24th but I am working that day) - Finish the purchases and do all the wrapping. :D I really planned to wrap as I bought this year but the bags in my closet will attest to the fact that not a single present has been wrapped. I will be faxing my last assignment in this pm and then I can concentrate on the holidays. I haven't yet mailed cards either so don't look for mine yet Beano.

Happy Holidays!!

Hi all,

Haven't been online much due to this nasty bug I just can't shake since the cruise. I was even tested for diphtherea last week, negative thank God. I've been out of work since 12/3, and hoping I'll be able to go back this week some time. I'm on my 4th antinbiotic, so we're keeping our fingers crossed. Temperature is gone, but cough is still tearing me up. My doc has no idea what's wrong...starting to worry me, but I tend to have a hard time shaking things like this. Doc wants to see me again tomorrow to look at my throat...told Phil last week he's never seen one in such bad shape....I think I'd rather be know for other things...LOL

I actually went to the Hallmark store today. Phil's birthday is Thrusday. Laid on the coach with my dog all afternoon...she's not going to know what to do with herself when I get back to work.

Ben----in error I threw the box out with your address. Please email me at plk1981@aol.com.
I have my cards, but haven't even started writing them out. Probably won't try to hit the stores for shopping this year...gift certificates for everyone!

Vicki---congrats the completion of your degree. You deserve another cruise as a pat on the back.

Gotta go keep the dog company on the couch......

Kathi I really like your idea - another cruise to celebrate. I could have all of you along to help. I just don't know which rich uncle would pay for all of us.
Sorry to hear you are still under the weather. I hope they are able to find something to ZAP it that nasty bug. Maybe if we all did a dance similiar to the document one we could scare it away. That could definately be scarey!! LOL

Take care!!

YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

I am finished. I have completed the last test for the last course for my BSN!!!! It feels soo good. I just want to celebrate!! too bad I have to work in the AM. Time to take DD to her gymnastics class so I guess being mom takes priority over celebrating anyway.

I wish we could all celebrate with you.

Happylady- hope you are well soon! Happy Birthday Phil!

Hope to visit WDW in Jan. Just a day trip. But I can't wait. I've turned into this Disney fanatic.

Kathi: So sorry to hear you are still not feeling well. Hope you get better soon.

All the presents are wrapped and the cookies are almost done. I have one more batch to make. It has been a cookie baking marathon this week.

wdwgoose: I'll have a glass of something to celebrate for you!

I have to work Christmas morning from 6 AM to 10 AM. Then it is off to my parents and then to Jerry's parents.

I can't wait for our WDW vacation next month. We leave on the 20th and will be back on the 31st.

We are trying to plan another Disney cruise for August. I hope we can. We are still going October 19th of next year. Plus we have our Panama Canal cruise in April.

Like Laura, I have my cards, but haven't written them out!! Too many things to do in the next week!!!!

Vicki - Congrats on finishing your classes. I admire anyone that can juggle classes, work, and taking care of a family and home.

Denine - Delay you trip one week to WDW. We are meeting best friends from Streetsboro the first weekend of February. They have a time share at Westgate and normally upgrade to a two bedroom. Not sure what park we will do.

Have to get to work....have a great Sunday!

Can you tell I have been up since 1:30 am (got called in for emergencies at work) I'm not sure why I am still up but sometimes you are soooo tired you just cannot sleep - that would be me, I also had to see DH safely on his trip. (the load is some parts for a manufacturing company) get your mind out of the gutter.

Kathi my computer has decided to die on me so I am not able to access any of my saved messages that were on it. Unfortunelately that would include your address. could you please email or PM it to me. currently using garry's laptop thank goodness for it.

Laura,

Did you get my email from a couple days ago?

Denine,

Hey, we sure do wish we could come up earlier. Unfortunately this nasty three letter thing keeps getting in our way....JOB!

Phil sold his landscape/lawn maintenance company just before the cruise. He's never been able to take time off between April and October before. So this is the first year since @ 1985 that he can take time off during the summer. He's trying to save some of his vacation time so we might be able to do something different this summer.

Work has me frazzled to the core. Yikes... You've NO idea!! ( When did I agree to this anyway?? )
Holy ****aki mushrooms, am I busy!!!!!

A VERY special thank you to the 'WDWGOOSE' family for the Xmas present - I cannot properly tell you how really - REALLY awesome that name tag was !! Seriously guys - that meant the world to me, and I love it! Thank you and God bless you. :) 'Beano' indeed feels special because of that!!!

I'll be brief 'cuz I gotta run, but I hope everyone has a wonderfully prosperous 2002 and that by God's good grace we may meet up again... On the 10/12/2002 Western Magic cruise, maybe?? ;)

Glad to hear everyone had a nice christmas. Really happy to hear that you are still among us beano. I am not sure if it is good that business has been booming or not. We will forgive the AWOL time but please don't stay away soooo long next time.

Denine I am sitting here having a glass of first crush, I was able to find a couple (DH says more like 3) of bottles at a store in Toledo. (Last time I looked they were out)

DH started a thread for the 10-12-02 cruise. Look it up and lets all stay in touch. OKWMeister glad to hear that you will be among the cruiser again. DH made ressies for that one I just am not sure we will be able to do it, my favorite room has been taken! :( but we know there will be wine and cheese for all the DIS cruisers.

Looks like I will have tomorrow off, some well deserved comp time I worked too many 12-14 hour shifts the week before Christmas. Every pregnant woman in our county thought she wanted to have her baby before the holidays (and most did) We did half of the months deliveries the week before christmas. We were looking for the stable and manger because there was no room in the inn. :D

128 days 16 hours 31 min until I am back on board the Magic!!!!!!!!!!

Hey all, Happy New year!

Beano: glad to hear from you again!

wdwgoose: Always good to have some time off. It seems all I have been doing is working. They wanted me to work again this morning, I wasn't available last night when the phone rang ;)

We leave on the 20th for WDW. I can't wait for the warm and sunshine! We have snow, but not much, luckily. Our friends, an hour to the east got almost 2 feet. Yuck! I hope it all comes when we are gone!

We are considering back to back cruises in October. 10-12 and 10-19. We are booked on 10-19. I don't know if we will do it or not. We haven't been away from our cats that long before.
We have time yet.

I think everyone is recovering from post holiday stress! I know I am still trying to get all the hoiday things put away. (while I nurse my new cold) Everyone at work has been passing around the coughing crud, and I am beginning to believe it has hit me now. All I want is a warm blanket and a cup of tea, but no time for that yet. Maybe this weekend.
Hope everyone else has been able to avoid getting any ailments this winter. HEY Kathi how are you feeling?????? Have you finally gotten over your nasty bug? What ever you had it really liked you because it did not want to leave you, did it. :D

Take care

Hi all!!

This is going to be quick because my new favorite show is on...."24" with Keifer Sutherland.

Yes, I finally feel like I've once again joined the land of the living. I still have a slight cough, but I think it's my allergies having fun.

Beano - great to see you are up and running. Like Vicki said, not sure if it's a good thing or not that you are so busy.....but if the business is there, I'm glad you have the opportunity to help people during their time of need.

Been busy lately, have started once again to list items on ebay (my seller ID is plk1981). My best friend has a 300+ Precious Moment collection that I'm selling for her. Trying to only list 10-15 pieces at a time.

Also, drove up to St. Augustine on Monday to take my dog on a "honeymoon" for the week. Please everyone keep you fingers crossed. One good litter could pay for a nice cruise!!! Actually, I'm really trying to breed for a certain look for showing. Well, I'm off this week...had vacation time to use before I lose it.

Going to WDW the first or second week of February. Excited and can't wait...need a Mickey fix.

Bye for now......

Hey Denine we're still around. Sometimes we also post on goose's thread for the 5/11/02 thread. So far TnRobin hasn't said anything. She's also going on the 5/11 cruise and posts on that thread. I believe she was the one that told us to post somewhere else after our 10/13 cruise. Looks like I'll just miss you at WDW. We're at the MK on 1/19. My brother who is active military will be with us at MK. He gets a free 7 day pass and he can get us our tickets for 50% off!!!

Happylady- I'd like to go on a honeymoon for a week too.;) But not with a dog!
What is this new show "24"? I'm into "Sex and the City" right now. That show is pretty shocking! I too am listing items on ebay. They're my own items. Some ski clothes, Xmas stuff. I made $8 on a Hallmark ornament! Whoopee! I'll make some money on the ski clothes though. I'm putting all the money I make on ebay into a cruise account.

All my holiday stuff is sitting in boxes in the living room waiting to be put in the attic. I still have to put the manger away. I'm having a good week. I found out my adjustable rate mortgage went down and I got a raise!

Also looking forward to a Mickey fix!

legs22 - "24" is a new drama on FOX (channel 29 in our area) at 9:00 pm on Tuesdays and reruns usually on Fridays. Eash show is one hour of the day in the life of these people. Tonights show was from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM. Lots of looping story lines and surpirses each week.

I don't have HBO, so I've missed out on "Sex in the City', but am thinking about renting them. I did that with the "Soparnos" first and second season.

Burr....really getting cold in our area tonight. Predicted lows overnight in low 30's. I know, the rest of you are laughing, but the South Florida area is not built for those temps. The warmest thing I own is a sweat jacket!

Going to Animal Kingdom for the first time Feb 7th. Looking forward to getting a "Mickey fix".

Hope everyone is doing well. We're fine. DS took a second place at his middle school for his science fair project (I have NO idea how he got a second, but.......) and he now moves on to the county level in a couple weeks.

Hey ya'll I haven't posted here recently and I see neither has any one else. I hope everyone is doing well. We have all had a bit of the upper respiratory virus going around but none of us have been seriously ill. Thank goodness!!

Kathi - Vanessa was the only one that rode at the show and she did very well for her first show and only being on a horse for 6 months. She was 5th in an equitation class (judging the rider) and third in a pleasure class (judging the horse). It was a wonderful learning experience and the judge gave her wonderful comments for improvement. First really big show is the first week in April. It is in Rantoul, Illinois about 7-8 hours from here.

Good morning!!

Hoping everyone is doing well. We just returned from a visit to Animal Kingdom, MGM and EPCOT. It was our first visit to AK and we enjoyed it. Best part was "A Bug's Life" and "Tarzan Rocks". Loved those skating chimps!! We haven't been to the parks for a couple years and finally got to ride "Test Track" and "Rocking Roller Coaster". LOVED both!! DS and I skipped the fireworks at EPCOT so we could ride "Test Track" a second time.:D :D

The weather could have been better. It was overcast and cool both days, and drizzled on Sunday. We didn't go on the water ride at AK...people were coming off soaked. Hopefully next time it will be sunny and warmer.

Just found out we are going to be "parents" again. Our dog is pregnant and due @ March 11th. YEAH!!

wdwgoose-Thumbs up for your DD. What a great first showing with her horse!!

Hello all. At least I didn't miss much. It has been forever since I have been on the boards. We had an absolutely fanastic trip to WDW. It couldn't have been better. We arrived home on the 31st as planned but have been very busy with lots of little things. Then I got sick this past weekend. I am still sick ( a bad cold), but I had to work this morning. All I want to do is sleep. So, I am doing this instead.
We are buying a new vehicle, a Buick Rendezvous. The papers are all signed, we just have to wait for it to come in, hopefully before the end of the month. It should be very nice for traveling.
Well, that's all for now.

Hi all -

Laura we will surely keep Molly in our prayers for this procedure on Wednesday. I cannot believe we will be cruising in 67 days. Only 63 until we leave ofr WDW. 10 days until my boss retires and I am left holding the reigns. They have not yet filled her position, which means I will have to until they do. any one know a very easy to get along with director of Maternal Infant Services - Our hospital is hiring!! :D

We are looking forward to dinner with you all - Kathi, Phil and Laura.

Hey Kathi how are the puppies growing -(they haven't dellivered yet have they? Will you still have any of them when we come down? I would really like to see them. I cannot let Garry have one as we just bought another horse. Now Vanessa and Gregg both have their own horses. I think Garry and I will have to share theirs. I do not think I can afford to get any more. I keep telling the kids that I am going to ride their horse in a show, and they don't believe me.

Well every one keep in touch. Take care -

So, how many pages did you have to go back to find this thread? Is Beano still alive? We are cruising the Panama Canal next month. Our cruise leaves the 15th and we will stop at Grand Cayman and Cozumel, plus Cartegena, Colombia and Costa Rica. Oh yeah, we also get to go through the canal.
Then we have 6 months of no vacations, uggh!!! We have to wait until our Disney cruises in October.

Hi all,

Yes, there is still life at the Richmond home! We've had a pretty hectic last 10 days. It all started with me dragging Laura and Molly (legs22 and DD) to a Pampered Chef Party (like Tupperware but cookware).
:D We had fun even in the downpour....we're begging for rain.....had to pour the night we were going out.....

Next my darling DH (a/k/a Mr. Stubborn) was having mild chest pains, but refused to go to the hospital. One word for him.....STUPID!!!!! He has had a 60% blockage for @ 3 years. After a day and a half, he finally let me take him to the ER, and, yes it was a problem. His enzyeme levels were raised, so they are calling it a heart attack. There was no damage, thank God. The Doctor feels it was the artery with the blockage having spazams. So he's on different meds and already back to work. AND, we are all back on a better eating plan. No chocolate shouffles for us!:( Laura-I was going to try to find you and go to lunch--$2.00 Wednesday
at JFK cafeteria for hospital emplyees. LOL

We took our beautiful dog to the vet for her pre-delivery xray. Our vet was able to count 5 puppies. She's horribly uncomfortable. Hopefully she will deliver this weekend. I start a on vacation Friday. Vicki, I need a good OB nurse to assit. HELP................ The puppies will be about 8-9 weeks old when you visit, so you'll get to see them.

Steven started FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Apptitude Testing) today. It's a multi day testing Florida kids are required to take yearly. Alot of pressure is put on the kids. The better the school scores are, the more state money the school gets. Hum...shouldn't it be the other way around??

And the worse thing to happen this week..........my space bar is hardly working!!!!!! Life can be very cruel.

Best to all,

Kathi

Extra prayer for Molly ;)

Looking forward to Molly + puppies. But will that mean she'll want to take one home? Oh no! Better skip the puppies. Just kidding. But no more dogs for me!

Laura, how is Molly?

Yeah! It's over! Everything went OK. Molly did great. I got home at 5:30pm yesterday from Miami. I was so wiped out after having only 8 hrs sleep in 2 days. Couldn't go to work today since Molly wasn't walking. She is sore plus I think she was afraid to walk. But by the afternoon today she started taking tiny little steps and then was running. I thought they were going to put a catheter in one leg, but she had one in each groin and one in her neck.
My mom observed the night nurse going between patients without washing her hands (other pt in the ICU room was an 8 mo. old baby with a staph infection in the heart). The nurse went from the baby to remove Molly's pressure dressings without washing her hands and then touched the catherter insertion area with her bare finger to see if there was drainage! Then in the middle of the night while I was in the sleep (HA,HA) room, Molly was calling for me and the nurse was NO WHERE around so the mother of the baby went and found the nurse who was visiting with other staff across the ICU. The nurse then wakes me up out of a sound sleep and when I get to Molly I found out that she just needed to pee. That night nurse was also overheard saying shut up over & over to the crying baby. All this was reported to the charge nurse and my mother told the mother of the baby. That mother told the charge nurse that the night nurse better never come near her baby again. I'm glad we got out of there! And we were only there for 24 hrs.

Boy have we had a busy weekend!!!!!! About 2 minutes after I sent the above post, Phil screamed that our dog was having her puppies. We never saw any signs of labor. He suddently heard her yelp and ran to see what she was doing. She delivered 5 puppies (only one was head first). They were all very big at 71/4 to 8 1/4 oz. She had trouble with #3 & 5, and they did not survive. The remaining three are doing well and gaining weight. Penny is proving to be a great momma.

...and he emerges from his cocoon. :)

Hi everyone - boy, am I out of touch! The new business has dominated my time like never before. It's going good, though! I am trying to find the money to hire a new director to help free up some of my time. Without doing so, I may have to cancel my ressies for the 10/12 Magic cruise!! I hate the sound of that, so I need to figure something out!

Laura - I am reading posts about Molly's "procedure". I have been so out of touch that I was completely unaware of it. Is she OK? What did she have to have? :(

Kathi - bottle me up some of that puppy breath and send it right out! :)

So, bring me up to date guys - Who amongst us is going on the 10/12 Magic?
I am confident that I will work something out. I am just not willing to give up on going.
I haven't told the kids about it yet, cuz I don't want to disappoint them if I did have to cancel.
My wife knows, but she does NOT know about the cat 3 "Goose" cabin I booked! (We actually got #8102, same cabin as goose last year!) I am wondering if there is any way to keep it a secret until we get on board. That would be a great surprise! But since you have to write your stateroom number on your luggage tags, I don't see how I am going to keep it under wraps. Any suggestions??

Anyhoo, I hope everyone is doing well, staying healthy and happy. :)

I am slowly starting to get back into DIS mode, making my plans for this cruise, so I'll try not to disappear for so long again! I really look forward to the Western itinerary. I have been to Cozumel and Cayman, but never Key West. I also look forward to another visit to Castaway Cay. Woo-hoo!!

Beano - good to see the West Coast is alive and kicking! Keep building that buisness and you'll be able to do cat 1 in 2003. LOL

I'm secretly hoping for western in 10/2003. I'm going to try to put puppy money away on her next litter. It's sad, but 3 puppies would pay for a nice cruise! LOL We only breed them 3-4 times in their lives with a break between 2 and 3. Any more would be abusing her and the breed standards. I'm really trying to get a beautiful show quality tri-color, which the stud was. Hopefully next litter.

Beano: Welcome back to the living! We are booked for the 10-12 and the 10-19 cruise. Looking forward to the wine & cheese party!

Laura: Glad to hear Molly is doing OK. We all know there are nurses who just shouldn't be nurses! Hopefully she will be disciplined.

Kathi: Sorry to hear about the loss of 2 of the puppies. Hope the others are doing fine.

We just got our documents today for our Panama Canal cruise. Less than 1 month. I am going to need a vacation. Our only full-time nurse just quit and another is going on vacation and our part-time evening nurse went to work full-time at our other facility. So there are only 2 of us left to try to cover all the shifts. There are more available shifts than there are nurses.

Glad to hear everyone is reletively healthy.

Denine it is really getting tough to find qualified help these days isn't it. Most of the departments in or hospital are working short. Three med/surg units have 20 vacancies btwn them. Our dept director retired last week and they have been searching for months for her replacement, as I did not want the job on a permenant basis. I will have to do it until they can hire someone but that does not look especially promising. Know any nurses with OB & Mgmt experience looking for an exciting position? If so send them our way!!

Kathi,
Doesn't look like Garry will be able to get south this month, he was hoping to come down and possibly pick up a horse for our trainer but is not going to look at it until easter weekend and we have a show later that week. Then we are getting very close to our trip time. He may just have to be content with our trip in May. I know he is going through WDW withdrawl. He hasn't been south since the holidays.

Well I better get going I need to get a few things done this AM, besides the DIS boards.

Hi everyone!

Can you tell I'm happy?:D :D :D Just made ressies for May 10, 11 & 12 at Coranado Springs Resort with the Florida Resident Rates. My first and second choice was Port Orleans and Caribbean Beach, but both were full. We never stayed at any of the resorts except for Fort Wilderness. So, we are psyched! Juat hope the puppies are all placed in their new homes by then. Still have two of the three to place when the time comes. An RN from Orlando is going to take one, so we might just deliver him on the way (it'll be 9 weeks old). Has anyone every stayed at CSR? I know it's huge, but have gotten some ideas of which buildings to ask for prior to out stay.

Vicki - Are you going to WDW before the cruise? If so, where are you staying?

Laura - Guess what, I found the booklet! I thought I had looked throughout my trunk, but it slide between a couple bags I keep for emergencies in my trunk. Call me, I can run it over after work if you like. I work 9-6 the next 3 days.

Denine - What stops will you make on your Panama cruise. Are the stops different than the new DCL western? I bet you are so excited! You've worked hard and deserve to have a great time. I want to see pictures and read a trip report upon your return.

Ben - Hi to the family. Hope you've been able to find some reliable help so you can take a breath.

Kathi - yes we will be at WDW prior to our cruise. We will be at the Wilderness Lodge May 7-9 and May 10 at the port Radisson. We stayed at the CSR once, didn't like it as well as the POR or CBR, maybe just because we were in the very far end of the world had a very long walk to either the main Bldg or the pool. (plus Vanessa got sick that night) I don't thik I would have enjoyed any of the resorts that few days. This will be my first stay at the WL, Garry and the kids have stayed there but without me. You will be coming in as we are leaving. What time are you all planning to get in? If it is early enough maybe we can have lunch before we head over to the coast. Only 45 days until cruise, 41 until WDW.
We still plan to come down to see you when we get back from the cruise. Great puppie pictures, they are soooooo cute!

Denine - Have a great time on your Panama Cruise. Take lots of Pics to post!!!

Vicki - We'll probably leave WPB @ 7 AM. With a pitstop on the turnpike, we'll be at WDW @ 10 AM. I'm still going to call every few days to see if anything opened at POR or CBR. I've been reading the resort boards and will fax a building request the week we are going up. They say that the room assignor usually puts you in the building you request. So, I'll try for one close to the action. CSR is so big, we don't want to be in the "boondocks". LOL

Hi all! This has been a crazy week! I can't wait until Tuesday when I have 3 days off. Where do I start? Jerry has finally been diagnosed with migraines. He has had them for years but wouldn't go to the doctor for a headache. I finally told him he was going. The doctor put him on a blood pressure medication to help prevent headaches and a medication to stop them when they do occur. Unfortunately he had two horrible headaches this week. He had to have a CAT scan on Wednesday just to make sure nothing else was going on. I had a spirometry test to see how my asthma was doing. It is not. My bronchioles are only working at 68%. So he upped my inhaled corticosteroid for a month.
I have been working so much lately. At least we hired a new nurse, but she is still on orientation. She is doing very well though. She was a hospice nurse and got tired of traveling all over the place. One of my favorite residents died on Sunday. I was a mess the rest of the day.
We had to take our cat, Ollie to the vet in a snowstorm on Monday. He has bronchitis and gets ATB's twice a day. Our other cat, Shannon, decided to get an eye infection. She gets medicine twice a day.
I have to work the next 3 days. At least Sat & Sun are only 4 hours. Monday is 8 hours.
We leave 2 weeks from tomorrow for our trip. We will be visiting Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Costa Rica and the Panama Canal. We were supposed to go to Cartagena, Colombia, but the port was cancelled due to all of the problems down there lately. We are going to buy a camcorder for this trip if we can find the time. I plan on taking a ton of pictures, but we live in ancient computer times. I have no way to post any pictures.

Kathi: Have a great time at Disney. I have heard a lot of people like Coronado Springs. We haven't been there though.

Vicki: The Wilderness Lodge is beautiful. You have to eat at Artist Point. We love that restaurant.

Guilty as charged!

DH, Phil, had another over night stay at the hospital last week after having chest pains. No evidence of a heart attack this time. The doctors are saying that a 60% blockage (which he has in one artery) is worse than a 90-95% blockage. At least with those, they can do the different procedures to correct. With 60% you just maintain. DH is doing well and went back to work the day after being released.

I've been on the resort board and 3 dog boards that are Cavalier King Charles Spaniel specific. Speaking of wish, the puppies are so cute! They play and fall over and lick you!!! It's gonna be real hard letting them go in 3 weeks. :(

Well, have some stuff to do before my favorite show comes on at 9:00, "24".

Nice to see everyone again...

I thought it was just my countdown that wasn't working... What gives anyway?

Just less than 6 months until we board the Magic again!! I couldn't keep a secret so I blew the surprise about the cat 3 suite. DW is so excited!! :)

Glad to see everyone is doing well. Kathy, give our best to Phil and tell him to take care of that ticker!!

I have a wonderful new office manager and a competent night crew so I am confident that I can leave for 2 weeks (1 week in WDW before the cruise) and not worry about the biz!

Still no sign of flyingcircus. I hope all is OK; she probably just has no pending plans for WDW so has no need to cruise these boards... which I could send her a video though!

Stay in touch all !!

Just read on the resort board that the clocks got too popular, not that people were using them, but were installing them incorrectly using the java script...so they closed them all down! Boy I just got mine to work the previous day! Oh well, at least the board didn't crach!:D

I had my clocked timed to our upcoming May visit to WDW. We are going May 10-12 and staying at Coranado Springs Resort. Still trying to talk Phil in to leaving when Steven gets out of school on Thursday the 9th. Keeping my fingers crossed...just talked to Penny's breeder and I was under quoting the going price to perspective buyers!!!! The extra $ from one pup could pay for a couple more nights!! Someone needs to lead my by the hand....

Laura - BERMUDA...have a great time!

Garry - they are starting to act like Larry Moe & Curly!! They are just so funny to watch. Steven temporaily named them Alf, Brava & Charlie (A, B, C...alpha, bravo, charlie.....) Here is a link to some current pictures:

Hey guys,

Things sure have been hectic around here lately. We will definatley be down for dinner on the 18th after our ship gets back in unless of course we cannot dock and have to spend a second week on board the Magic. Wouldn't that be way tooo much. My parents would refuse to watch the kids ever again.

Keep posting those pics Kathi, they are just darling. Hope Phil is feeling well.

Denine - I hope you had a good time on you Panama Cruise. Did I miss you trip report?
I haven't been able to spend as much time on the boards as I did prior to the last cruise, too much to do at work, the barn and here at home.

Cruising in 19 days 14 hours!!!! I cannot wait!

Denine - I hope you had a great trip. We are waiting for the trip report.:)

Vicki and Garry - I wonder how you will make it through the next couple days! When will you be leaving for WDW? If we leave here @ 5:30, we'll get to WDW @ 8:00 am next Friday. I think we are going to check luggage at CSR so we can park there rather than the regular parking lot at MK (save the parking fee). We may give you an early call when we get in. Did you say you are staying at AK? Do you have plans for Friday AM yet? If we don't talk before then, do you know how to get to our house here in WPB? Did you decide to bunk with us, or get a room. Like I said there is plenty of room...we're not the Ritz, but we're nice.:D :D

Kathi - we are at the Wilderness Lodge. We are just hanging around WDW until early afternoon then heading over to the Port. I cannot believe 48 hours from now I will be in Fla. I haven't finished packing / hardly started. Garry was printing a map for us to get to your house, but we did hope to see you all before we left for the port. Haven't made definate plans for the night after dinner. :jester:

The kids and I spent the weekend near Lansing MI for another horse show. What a great show it was!!! Gregg's horse took one championship and one reserve champion and several ribbons also. Vanessa's horse also did very well and received several ribbons also, 11 total between the two. (out of 14 classes) :D :D

Well I better get going we leave in about 36 hours and I'm not ready!!!!!

Okay!!! I'm going to assume that everyone has been busy, like me, resulting in the lack of posts to this thread.

Had a great time hearing Vicki and Garry relay the details of their 5/11 western cruise over dinner. Sorry, Garry, that your meal wasn't that good...but after 7 nights on the Magic all else pales in comparision. I told Phil he has to get a second job so we can cruise more often...

School got out last Friday, here in Palm Beach County. Steven is already bored!! IT'S GOING TO BE A LONG SUMMER. Is it August 14th yet?

Thinking of taking Phil on a 3 or 4 day cruise out of Miami in December for his 50th birthday or driving up to North Georgia in early August. He's a outdoor type person, and even though he loved the cruise, the mountains would probably be his pick. I'd love to do the Wonder, but it's double the price.

Well, I have to get up early, so I'd better sign off.

Hope this finds all doing well.

Hey guys we have been very busy here. It was wonderful to see Kathi, Phil, and Laura. We had a wonderful trip and did come home a day early for Vanessa's concert. (I guess I had some Mom guilt about missing it) She had a solo and did a beautiful job so I was doubly glad that I didn't miss it.

We have been very busy with the horses. We had our second big show this past weekend and both Gregg, Vanessa and their horses (Sham & Emily) did very well. We are supposed to go again this weekend for another show to try to qualify for regional and youth national competitions. I guess it just never ends.

We still do not have a new director so I continue to do the job. There are some days I wonder how I got myself into this position and others I really enjoy it.

I have lots to get done before bed so I guess I better go as it is getting late already.

Guilty as charged. LOL I really have no excuse now that Steven is out of school. He only has band camp on Mondays, so what's my excuse for the rest of the week??? Haven't really been on the boards much lately. Get depressed not having a cruise booked.:(

I messed up and let it slip that I was trying to plan something for Phil's birthday. So, I let him pick, and it's off to NE Georgia in August before school starts. We found a great place with 7 cabins on 10 acres that allows pets. We might stop at Six Flags on the drive up...not sure. I'd love to try Superman the Ride (I think that's the name of it).

Glad to hear that Gregg and Vanessa are doing so well in their competitions. Are you still going out west for a show?

Laura...how are you liking the afternoon sprinkles the past two weeks? We have had some horrible rain storms lately. Flooding rains, lighting strikes and even hail. Steven and I were trapped at a local library last week. We waited an hour even with umbrellas, but it never let up. When we finally ran for it, the parking lot was under 8-10 inches of water. Luckily I have an explorer that sits high.

Denine...haven't heard from you in quite a while. Sure hope everything is okay.

Ben...ever get your CC #?

Bye for now...going up to Orlando for a dog show this weekend. Have to hand off the last puppy to the studs' owner. :(

Garry-
Have you checked the side of your car- maybe you have been keyed;)
Well, I've been busy......turning 40!
:(
My birthday was yesterday 6/18. I took the day off work, took Molly to school, and then went and enjoyed myself. Friends are brewing up some kind of party for 6/22.
The beginning of June, I was at Sanibel Island for a week where the biggest decision I had to make each day was "beach or pool?"
Memorial Day weekend Molly and I were at Disney where I got to see two DIS members get engaged at the Beauty & Beast show at MGM. I had no idea who they were at the time until I got back and saw the proposal thread on the DIS. We had breakfast in the castle. Molly dressed as Sleeping Beauty. We had an early ressie so we got in before the gates officially opened and saw an empty Main St. and Fantasyland. As we were walking to the castle I got a picture of Molly with Roy and Minnie on the bench then noticed a large group of people standing behind us. The Disney CM said the group were new employees and they had never met a real live princess before and he asked Molly to turn around and give them a princess wave. Well she didn't want to do that so I gave the wave. Then walking down Main St. whenever we passed a Disney CM they played along with the costume and said to Molly "Good moning Princess Aurora, how are this morning?"
At breakfast we got to meet Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Alice in Wonderland, Mary Poppins, Jasmine. The look of excitement on Molly's face when each princess came up to talk to her was priceless! My camera quit working right when we got to breakfast but no worries, the staff went and got me a disposable camera (that only cost $18! but at that moment I would have paid any price to have a camera.) So CRT was really a great experience.
So now I'm busy having work challenges. Thinking of moving to Melbourne to be near my family.
Hi to everyone! Have a fun and safe 4th!

I have really been out of touch. I haven't been on the boards in several weeks. I guess I like Kathi hate to get depressed about not haing another trip planned.

Kathi, Yes we did take the horses to a show out west. That was after the shows in Indianapolis and Lexington. It has been a very bust summer I cannot believe that the kids will be back to school in less that four weeks. Maybe then I can rest.

We still have not found a replacement for our department director so I am continuing to do the job. It isn't as bad as I thought it might be at first but I still am not interested in it as a permenant / full time position.

Legs - Hope you had a very happy birthday. Garry said to call if you need help moving. Glad Molly had a good time with the princesses. She is a great princess herself!!

Glad to hear all is well with everyone. Hope you all emjoy the rest of your summer. Take care and we will try to keep in touch!!!!! :p

Actually, his birthday is in December, but we celebrated early. Georgia was absolutely beautiful. We had a one bedroom cabin in view of Brasstown Bald, the highest mountain in Georgia. We went grubbin' for gems and pannin' for gold. Did a tour of the "Glory Hole" in Dahlonega (sight of the first and richest gold strike in America).

Steven has a much heavier class load this year and we didn't want to take him out of school for a week. Even through he's only in 7th grade, he's in high school algebra and honors science, geography and english. He's been in school one week and already has projects due! LOL He's always been in advanced or accelerated classes, so he just thinks all this extra work is normal......we just won't tell him....;) Hopefully someday, he'll support me in the style I'll love to become accustomed to!! LOL A cruise every three months would satisfy me!

Best to all,
Kathi

Well hello! Long Lost Legs here.

Kathi- I've driven to the top of Brasstown Bald! Glad you had a great time in GA.

Garry- Too bad about WDW weather. But WDW w/rain or work- I'll take WDW.

Molly started K at a new charter school that is sponsored by the hospital I work for. She was on the local news the first day of school. She loves school!
No luck on the job search in Melbourne. I've applied to a lot of jobs but heard nothing. Maybe to get relocated to Melbourne my best chance will be to get a job in acute care :( at a hospital there. Since I've been out of acute care for 5 years I thought I'd take some refresher courses like assessment, EKG, and, God help me, ACLS. I have taken ACLS once in 1994 and passed with instructor potential. Now I will be happy just to pass it with only 3 weeks to go through the book and study. When I opened the book and looked through it, I thought "What was I thinking!!!???" "Why am I doing this to myself??" And what day does the class start on? 9/11! A bad sign?
My timeshare didn't rent out in August so I most likely will not be cruising in May :( But I just checked my vacation acct the other day and there was a lot more in there than I thought. So, I'll see.

Hey what was wrong with where we had dinner? GaRry had been trying to figure that one out. He thought everything was very nice (though the steak might have been a little more done) we were more interested in the company!! Garry is planning another trip to FLa some time in November. He is bringing down some things for my parents. I just wish I could get some time off to come too. I recently accepted the position of Director of Maternal Infant Services, (the one I have been doing since March) I decided to make it permanant rather than interim.

How is Penny doing? Any more puppies? I know you were thinking about another breeding.

Legs tell Molly I said HI.

Ship? What ship? Don't know a thing!

Vicki- Congrats on your new permanent postion!:D

I passed ACLS!

BUT, I didn't get the postion in Melbourne that was outpatient surgery PACU (M-F)
:(
I did get offered a position at another hospital in an ER OBS holding unit but it's 12 hr shifts, 7A-7P, every other weekend, and holidays. How in the world can you do that as a single parent? After care at the school and other child care places is only til 6:00pm and M-F. THe hospital has a child care center open later but I have no way to get her there after school. They are open weekends but they are very full and have no space and I can't see Molly sitting in day care for 12 hrs on Sat. and 12 hrs. on Sun. after being in school all week. I wish the hospitals still had 8 hr shifts. Or I could work in a doc's office, make NO money, but I'll be off weekends and holidays. So, the options are not looking good.

I thought the place we ate at was good. I also couldn't figure out what happylady meant. She was probably joking because you ate up all the food didn't you?

Laura - How soon are you moving to Melbourne? My co-workers' sister works at an out patient surgical center there as (I think) a director or supervisor (or something like that). She moved last year with her husband from WPB. She was working at Good Sam's. Because of scheduling, I won't see Suzi until Friday, but I'll have her ask her sister if she knows of anything opening up soon.

Hi all! Jerry saw that this thread was up and running again.

We did adopt a baby girl in October. Her name is Kaleigh. She will be 4 months old on Saturday. She is a real joy. We took her to WDW last week. It was wonderful. She was 1 month old when we brought her home, although we could have had her at 2 weeks. The problem was we found out about her 1 week before we were to leave on our back-to-back Disney Magic cruises. So, we brought her home when we got home.

Hope you all are doing well. No cruises for us this year, but we are going to WDW 4 times, hopefully, with the 1st trip already behind us. :(

Denine - So glad to hear that you, Jerry and Kaleigh are doing well. You need to post some pictures so we can see what an angel she is!!! Did you start a scrapbook for her...1st Disney trip...etc? Stevens first visit was a 6 weeks, but only for a few hours at ECPOT. He was born when we lived in Deltona and Phil worked for special events at MGM, so it was more like a trip to Walmart....:)

Well hi everyone. Hope everyone is doing fine. Gary, you are correct, we've all just let this board die. I guess like us, everyone is so busy.

I've gone back to school two nights a week...something medical, but have decided yet. Home Depot was supposed to be a quick stop until I decided what to do, but it's been 4 years. I thought about getting back into bank management, but decided my "panty hose" days are over. ;) I've also become addicted to scrapbooking. Now I wish I had saved "everything" from the cruise to put in the book I'm doing on the cruise! I told Phil, we'll just have to do it again!! I love my logic. ;)

Just happened to see this.

No cruising for us this year. Not until we get Kaleigh's birth certificate. Hopefully by the end of the year. We are going to WDW in October and December. We are booked on the 10-16-04 cruise.

Kaleigh is now 10 months old and doing great! She is crawling all over the place and is adorable. She has been to WDW twice already.

Jerry has been on jury duty since July 8th and hopefully will finish this week. They started deliberations today.

Hi everyone,

:wave2:

Hope everyone is doing well. We're okay, sort of. Just had my second foot surgery Wednesday for a non-union fracture. :( I'm on percocet and as long as I stay ahead of the pain, I'm okay. Had to have two pins and wire inserted to hold the bone together...will have to use a bone growth stimular and have a hard cast for 6-8 weeks.

We are planning a trip to WDW for the first week of November, cast and all! I'm going to rent an EVC (scooter) for the time we are up there. We are so excited that we were able to rent points and get a studio at VWL. We all wanted to stay there since we ate breakfast at Whispering Canyons lst year.

Is anyone else going to be there November 1-3? We keep missing everyone!!

Hi Kathy Hope your recovery goes well. Percocet is a good thing, they knock me on my behind though. How are Phil, Stephen and Penny (that is your dog's name right)? How are the classes going? I keep thinking about going back for my masters but I just do not know how I could do it and keep working. It was hard enough before.

Denine you will have to post a picture of Kayleigh so we can all see her.

Beano enjoy your next cruise, and we really could use a videographer on the 10 day cruise. Garry let a couple of our cruise mates watch the one from our cruise and they thought it was better than the one made for disney to advertise the cruise. In 2004 you could just come with all of us on the holiday cruise. :scratchin

Hope everyone is having better weather than we have been. I think we have just skipped fall and gone straight into winter. The leaves haven't even turned and they are falling off the trees. Yesterday there was even a little frost on the windshield. Kathy I'm not sure you remember what that is, it is the frozen stuff on your car in the morning when you try to leave for work. LOL:teeth:

Well I had better get off before I fall asleep at the computer. TGIF - so I am off tomorrow!!!

Take care and God Bless :grouphug: :grouphug:

Isn't frost that stuff you chip out of your freezer!!:sunny:

Just kidding!!

Penny is doing very well. She's being a great nurse-puppy and helping me heal. She lays along my leg and puts her head on my ankle. It does me wonders!

Kathy: Sorry to hear about your foot surgery. Hope you are feeling better. We stayed at VWL in January, it was very nice. We will miss you in November. We are leaving the 29th and will be there starting the 30th for the first week of December. A bunch of us past cruisers are getting together at Mickey's Halloween party on the 16th of the month. Buy some tickets and come join us, cast and all. We are meeting in front of the Haunted Mansion at 9 PM. Beano will be there.
We leave 1 week from today for WDW! :hyper:

Vicki: I am so jealous of your Christmas cruise. It was too expensive for us, but that doesn't mean I didn't want to go!
We had snow the other day. It is so cold and yucky!

Kaleigh just had her 1st birthday a week ago. If you send me your e-mail addresses, I can e-mail you a picture.

How are you guys doing? We're both doing well. Phil and I just spent last week at a friends timeshare in Kissimmee. They're from Ohio and couldn't use it this year and offered it to us. We had a great time just relaxing!

Hi to Vicki and the kids.

Everyone is good. Would you believe Kaleigh turned 7 in September? I homeschool her. She is in 2nd grade with 3rd grade math!

How are you and yours?

We're doing well. Steven is in his second year at Florida State University with a dual major in Media Production and Creative Writing. He graduated from an International Baccalaureate High School which gave him a huge head start on college credits. Phil and I have talked about moving near Tallahassee for years, but have to wait for the housing market to improve. Phil is still with The Home Depot. I went back into banking after owning a scrapbook store for a few years.

Any more kids in the future?

Can't believe that it's been 10 years since our cruise. We still talk about all the fun we had!!

Phil, Steve and I are doing well. After years of planning, we celebrated Steve's 21st birthday and our 30th anniversary on an Alaskan cruise and a few days in Seattle. "Fantastic" is all I can say!

For those to reading this thread, I hope you have a healthy an prosperous 2012.
