We are thinking about buying DVC But, I am trying to figure out if I should wait a month or two before buying. We would love AKL, it our faviorite place to stay. And we would wait if there was an announcement of a new DCV. How soon do you think an announcement might be made?

I think they'll announce it on the '06 Members Cruise. That begins Oct. 22nd.

October is when they will announce it officially.....But presales probably will not start until March or April of 07 and it is going to be the Contemp....not AKL

You know what they say about speculation in the real estate market...

Anyway, regardless of the next DVC, it may be years before it is open. If you want DVC, I'd suggest buying now at today's prices. You can always add-on through some type of incentive on the next DVC resort. I wouldn't be surprised if they open those sales to existing members first....

I think it'll be both, with VAKL first and VCR next ... ;-)

What do they say? and who are they? :)

I think it would make a lot of sense to open up the sales of whichever new DVC they open..To existing members first..It would keep the sales going at SSR even make them stronger... and they will probably sell out everything a lot sooner if they did it that way.

I think they are going to announce both CR and AKL at the sametime on the Member Cruise

Or during the October Press Event ... or both ...

What is "the October press event"?

Disney usually hosts a press event each quarter to announce new attractions, or any new Disney related news. The last one was in New York in which they announced their new year long celebration: "A Year of a Million Dreams".

I will guess the next one will be held at EPCOT where they will announce the new DVC(s) and also talk about the opening of the new Nemo attraction and the opening date for the new Nemo show in AK. They may also mention Laughing Floor Comedy Club dates and the new Midway Mania attraction at MGM where Millionaire is currently housed. Who knows, they may even announce a new celebration for EPCOTs 25th anniversary!

IMO, sales at any new WDW DVC resort won't begin until either SSR sells out or the new resort is ready to open. Whichever comes first. But that could easily be 2 years from now.

Keep in mind that prices could (and probably will) go up at least a few times between now and the next resort. (Especially if any of these rumors are true since it appears CR will be a license for Disney to print money!)

I think SSR needs to be almost if not sold out before an anouncement will be made.

I do know they were doing presales of BCV and still had inventory left at VWL because when we bought in December, 2001 we were given a choice of the two. Our guide told us they had about a month or two inventory left at VWL, but, if we wanted BCV we could do a presale there, but, would not be able to use our points at BCV until later the next year. At that point, the models at the BW were still decorated like VWL.

We also were given the choice of two DVC's when we bought. Both OKW and BW were selling at the same time, so maybe we won't have to wait until SSR is sold out before the next one is offered! :thumbsup2

AKL I might do a small add-on. 25-50pts tops. Bank and borrow for the every other or every 3rd year type thing.

CRV, VCR whatever, not so much.

It might not hurt SSR sales so much if they have the Contemporary at a much higher price per point. :confused3

You are spot on. Next DVC will be higher priced, plus you will have to already be a member to prepurchase. If indeed it is CRV, wanna bet it sells out just on addons? If you are holding out for CRV for first purchase...might not be a wise decision. :surfweb:

My guess is that CRV or VAKL won't be all that much higher per point. But that the point schedules will be much higher than the other DVC resorts.

Keep in mind that CRV and VAKL would be still competing with the resale market, so Disney won't want point pricing for them to be so high that they have trouble selling. Remember that CRV and VAKL will be available to all DVC members at the 7 month window so how much of a premium will people be willing to pay to have the home resort advantage there?

So Disney could keep the CRV and VAKL point pricing at a modest increase but have the point schedule higher so that a week's worth of points might be 300 there vs 200 elsewhere for similar accommodations.

It will be interesting to watch, for sure. We'll be on the sidelines, as we have enough points to cover our needs for now.

I can see the new people posting on the board here though....."What are the chances of getting CRV or VAKL at the 7 month window?" :)

Thanks every one for your responses, I hope we will hear soon as I want to know. We can afford to wait a bit if there is one at AKL it would be worth it for us! :yay:

Hey Granny! :wave2:

I'm thinking if the Contemporary is really gonna be that huge (at least 600 rooms compared to the smaller VWL and BCV) that after the initial rush to stay there it might not be so hard to get in if you call right around that 7th month range. Although, I could be wrong! I'm just happy I own at the two smallest WDW DVC resorts! :teeth:

They are really pushing Saratoga Springs right now...in fact they are giving incentives for buying into it like an additional 12 years of membership...

We just got back from DBV 7/31

Saratoga has always offered the 2054 end date. SSR is part of DVCII. Most likely the resorts that follow, will also be part of DVCII.

I agree that the price of CRV will be an increase and resale prices will increase also. CRV will add value to DVC and therefore increase prices of all the resorts, just as the selling price of SSR boosted the ROFR threshold for resales. DVC controls all pricing, including resales. Those thinking they will be able to pick up cheap DVCI contracts will be ROFR'd.

SSR will not have a problem selling out, once the numbers are run by potential new buyers. When they figure out SSR has a cheaper buy in and cheaper dues, many families will choose SSR. Not everyone is holding their breath for CRV (I am) there are many newbies out there that DVC will market to and they will get in where they fit in.

I also agree that the point chart will be higher. We can only hope for a split point chart divided by views to get us in the door cheaper.
