The first day I get there, I'm eating at my resort's restaurant (POR). After that, I have dinner reservations for:

-Boma! It was great last year.
-Crystal Palace - never been there for dinner, only breakfast.
-Ohana- never been here before, so I'm really excited!
-50's Primetime Cafe - saw this place on the Travel channel. Will be my 1st!
-Coral Reef - never been there, nor have I seen it, but I love seafood!

I'm also looking forward to eating at Tusker House in Animal Kingdom. :thumbsup2

Do we stand a chance at getting ressies at some good places if we're leaving in just over a month and haven't even decided for sure where all we wanna eat yet?? Any time I've been there in the past we always kinda winged it and ate on the run. This time we wanna slow down a bit more and try some good food. We're pretty sure we wanna try Mama Melroses, Hollywood & Vine, Brown Derby, Garden Grill, Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, Ohanas, Kona Cafe, etc but we're not sure what day, what time, etc. I've been researching various posts here to get info on some of the restaurants and was already able to eliminate some of the ones we were thinking of.

Not to worry, call and see what's available. It's better to do it before you go rather than get to a park on a particular day and not be able to get into the restaurant you want. I just made these ressies last week and I call back every once in a while and have added a few more and checked ones which were "sold" out. I'm still working on moving CRT to the day I really wanted it.

I haven't made many lunch ressies because we've loaded up on dinner places. So we usually wing them by calling on the day we are headed to a particular park and we see what's available. I like the balance between fixed and flexible.

So where would a solo traveler choose to eat during a planned trip to WDW at Holiday time?

Dinner reservations: Confirmed so far: Le Cellier, Tony's Town Square, San Angel Inn, and the Brown Derby.

Lunch reservations: Confirmed so far: Coral Reef, and the Liberty Tree Tavern.

To be reserved soon: Epcot restaurant with Candlelight dinner ticket.

The OP also asked why these spots? That's easy. Because I've enjoyed all of them before (with the exception of LeCellier and the Liberty Tree Tavern, both of which I am looking forward to because of all the excellent reviews on this site).

I made some reservations 6 days in advance, some 2 months in advance. I really do not think you will have a problem if you call now to make your reservations. Our friend made the ones 2 months ago, and she couldn't get us into a few of the restaurants at the times we wanted (they have kids and didn't want to eat past 6:30). When she made the reservation for hollywood and vine the ONLY time they had was like 4:40 or something, but we are also a bigger party.

Whew. Thanks. I printed out a bunch of menus at perspective restaurants and made notes on them (I'm a vegetarian) now I have the DF going over them so he can decide which ones have things he'd eat ... I'll probably make some calls this weekend. There's no penalties for having to cancel or change times (if possible) is there?

I do not think there is a penalty at all. People on here always talk about "just cancel". Since I have never made an ADR personally, I really have no idea!

There's no penalty for having to cancel an ADR. You can also try to change times, but there is no guarantee that you'll be able to get your desired time.

The first night we are doing the Fantasmic thing with Hollywood & Vine. After that it is blur of Boma, Le Cellier (sp) Nine Dragons, & Kona I wanted Ohana, but timing didn't work out for the MNSSHP deal. (...I also wanted a big screen TV instead of a new oven, but it is a nice oven I guess)

Just a warning: If you are arriving after the 16th of Sept. There will be no food left. I will have eaten it all. You should pack a lunch or something. :rotfl:

princess: princess: We are have these ADRs

8/31 - CS dinner / Campfire at FW
9/1 - CS lunch / CS dinner
9/2 - CS lunch / 1900 Park Fare (dinner)
9/3 - CS lunch / Chef Mickey (dinner)
9/4 - CS lunch / Hollywood and Vine Fantasmic Package (dinner)
9/5 - CS lunch / Crystal Palace (dinner)
9/6 - CS lunch / Norway Storybook (dinner)
9/7 - CRT (Lunch) LTT (dinner)

I have seriously considered not doing the CS on 8/31 and doing the CS on 9/4 (instead of Hollywood and Vine - I heard you really didn't need the Fantasmic Package during Sept.) and using the TS on 9/8 (I have 2 princess: princess: and I think they would enjoy 1900 Park Fare on our last day more then doing HV at MGM). I will make up my mind before we go so I can cancel HV if needed.

We have ADR's for our anniversary on Oct 1st (which is also the day of the new Year of a million dreams) at Cinderellas Royal Table. I'm hoping that since they all know it's our anniversary, they will give us a free trip to DW again. :rotfl2: no not really, but it could happen!

Then we have ADRs on Sept 29th for Fantasmic dinner package.

ALL FREE DINING! WOOHOO!!!

We've been planning on making an ADR for the Fantasmic package cuz last year we went in Sept and the lines were long enough to make us not even attempt. I guess anyone can wait in line if you wanna burn a couple hours waiting in the direct hot sun! Yikes! I think the only definite thing we planned on calling to book was the Mama Melroses's Fantasmic package...I hope it doesn't rain the night we decide on!

We plan our TS meal and go on the spur for the rest of the meals SO...

The reason why we are eating at our choices is because we've not tried these restaurants OR have not been in quite awhile... Also, have never eaten at a 2TS restaurant so that's why we added the following 2TS meals...

Day 1 Alfredo's

Day 2 Raglan Rd.

Day 3 Gr. Floridian Cafe

Day 4 Yachtsman

Day 5 No plans, will eat CS because we want a full evening at our villa.

Day 6 Flying Fish Cafe

Day 7 Kona

Day 8 CS and then HOME :sad2:

Our next trip isn't until Dec 07! Sooooo...I have already thought of a few DEFINITES for us. My plan is to do as much character dining as possible, because I really am not a big fan of waiting in character lines. So that will cover us getting Bella's pictures with characters. Other then that.... Chef Mickey's, 50's primetime cafe, Cindy's table, and... The Hoop Dee Doo Review. Last time we went to the Hoop Dee Doo, we arrived an hour+ late, and I cried through the entire thing. Day before our wedding nerves, lol! :rotfl:

Breakfast: Free breakfast at Hampton Inn in Tallahassee
Lunch: Picnic with stuff out of the cooler.
Dinner: Downtown Disney probably Planet Hollywood or House of Blues

October 1, 2006
Breakfast in the room
Lunch: Counter Service at Tusker House in the Animal Kingdom
Dinner: Le Cellier in Epcot's World Showcase (8:40 pm)

October 2, 2006
Breakfast in the room
Lunch: Either picnic or counter service at Leaning Palms in Typhoon Lagoon
Dinner: 'Ohana before MNSSHP (5:00 pm)

October 3, 2006
Breakfast: Boma (10:00 am) paying with our Disney Visa Rewards credits.
Lunch: We'll probably skip lunch after our huge breakfast pig-out
Dinner: Rose & Crown in Epcot's World Showcase (8:00 pm)

October 4, 2006
Breakfast in the room

Dinner: Boma (5:00 pm)

October 5, 2006
Breakfast in the room
Lunch: Counter Service at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot's Future World
Dinner: Spoodles (5:00 pm)

DH fell in love with Boma during our stay at AKL so we'll be dining there twice. We don't usually "do" counter service so I've tried to make choices that offer us something other than burgers/fries/chicken fingers. It looks like we'll have at least 2, maybe 4 CS credits left. Since we'll have a fridge I may pick up some things to bring with us to Siesta Key after we leave WDW.
